What a lovely venue, we went for my husband's birthday. The owners have certainly worked out the best way to run it. It is more than a pub and the meals were second to none. The sea bass was a lovely thick piece and there was plenty of the lamb on the plate. The only criticism is that I felt the lamb could have done with a little more spice but we did clear our plates. We were welcomed by Kit and he made sure we were happy throughout the meal. We will return.

Excellent family run business which focuses on using local produce. Food was superb and the pub has a good selection of cask ales. The food is all freshly made, even the salmon terrine was smoked on the premises. Would highly recommend and will definitely revisit the next time we are in the region.

We turned up for dinner without a booking and were welcomed by Kit who said they were sure they could fit us in - which they did. The food is a good notch up from standard pub grub both in ambition and execution. We both had venison shank off the bone which was excellent though - tiny reservation - I would have liked a thicker gravy. Chips and herby 'broken' potatoes were perfectly done. Having experienced a 'corporate' pub meal earlier in the week, what a difference the personal touch of a husband and wife team makes. Highly recommended.

What a delightful little village pub, unique and full of character. That character extends to the owner, who is friendly and most welcoming. The food was excellent, my wife had the broth to start followed by Chicken curry. All of which was excellent. I had the Thai fishcake to start with the slow cooked venison, which were excellent. The price was very reasonable for the standard of food. This is definitely worth a re-visit.

Just a short trip out from Bude we decided to try the Molesworth Arms at Pyworthy after seeing the reviews on Tripsdvisor and we were not disappointed. The welcome from the hosts was hearty and the bar service and choice was excellent. The food was amazing with a good variety of choice and the hosts clearly take pride in what they are serving. Nothing was too much trouble and we had a thoroughly enjoyable evening with all 5 of our group wowed by the dishes. Shame it’ll be a while for our next holiday to be able to return but I can only agree with the excellent reviews and recommend to anyone who appreciates good food.

We were staying in Holsworthy and were looking for somewhere to eat in the evening. we couldn't have found anywhere better. We received a warm friendly welcome and were fitted in when they were already stretched. A varied menu made it difficult to decide what to eat because it all looked tempting. My husband had a Moroccan lamb dish and I had a sweet potato and black bean casserole. Would thoroughly recommend.

My partner and I managed to get a last-minute booking for Saturday evening and we are both so grateful that we did. Firstly, the pub is a stunner. It’s a classic “rustic” place with a log fire and flagstone flooring and the decor has been lovingly and thoughtfully put together by the fantastic hosts. It is a great mix of old school charm and cool chic. Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed by Kit and Monique and promptly treated to the best pub food that we have both had in a long time, probably ever, to be honest. In fact I feel bad even describing it as such as it was so much more than that. The shared starter of the cheese, chorizo and jalapeño bake was perfection. This was followed by our mains of chicken curry (which my partner was loathe to share!) and a beautiful beef and mushroom pie with a side of smashed potatoes, which ideally complemented the pie. To quote Spinal Tap, our visit went all the way up to eleven. To further paraphrase, The Molesworth Arms is without doubt one better and we highly recommend that anyone passing even vaguely nearby should try it. Believe me, you will be glad you did.

If you are one for great quality and fresh food, this hidden gem should be high on your list when visiting Clawford lakes, Holsworthy, north Devon area. The pub is situated in a small village called Pyworthy. We felt really welcomed as tourists, the suggestions given by Monique from the menu did not disappoint us. All special requirements were happily catered for. This can be difficult especially when travelling with kids. Left the pub extremely delighted and satisfied. 😊 I personally ordered Moroccan lamb which was cooked by Keith and I couldn't fault the delicate flavours and spices that the pieces of slow roast shredded lamb was married with.

My wife and I enjoyed a delicious Sunday Roast during our 2 night stay at this wonderful old Devon Pub. The interior space is magical, decked with hundreds of fairy lights and capped off by a roaring fire. Great tasting food and generous portions. The husband and wife team welcome everyone and make you feel special. We stayed in their recently opened ground floor apartment. A lot of thought has gone into equipping the impressive space which comes with all mod cons. We were only able be there for 2 nights but would happily return for a (much) longer stay. Found by chance online, called not expecting to get a table but were fitted in at 6.15pm. On arrival to the beautiful restaurant we were greeted by the lovely Kit (owner) who talked us through the menu. Because I’m greedy and because two of the starters sounded so nice I ordered both the mushroom & truffle arancini balls and homegrown courgette flowers stuffed with ricotta, mint, lemon zest & chilli flakes, my partner ordered the home smoked salmon mousse, all three were fresh and delightful. For mains we opted for the Moroccan lamb, sea bass and pasta for our daughter, with perfectly cooked broccoli and small roast potatoes with feta. Half way through the meal Monique (owner) came to speak to us as well, which is always a lovely touch. To follow I had the sticky toffee pudding! This place is an absolute triumph, we only wish we lived closer as it would become a regular dining experience for our family.

Our last night on holiday and we came across this hidden gem. Everything at The Molesworth Arms was perfect. The owners are natural born hosts, you feel like you’re being invited into their home. The menu had plenty to offer including seasonal home grown and local ingredients. Every single dish was delicious and left us wanting more. We were lucky enough to visit Rick Stein’s Seafood restaurant earlier in the holiday and it was wonderful. But it was a unanimous decision that the Molesworth Arms was better! What a great place this is. The proprietor and his wife (who does the cooking) have absolutely nailed it. The service was great, the food faultless, and compared to the dreadful pub we ate in the previous evening (see my review) it was chalk and cheese. There were six of us and we all ordered different things, and no-one had any complaints...oh and for what we got it was reasonably priced, including a good wine list with a sensible mark-up. That part of Devon is a bit of a culinary wilderness, but the Molesworth stands out like a beacon. If you're close by don't miss it.

Oh my! Yet again a fantastic meal. Kit and Mon are an amazing team and together they ensure a great evening of homemade high end food and well chosen drinks with friendly, attentive service. No photos as we were too busy clearing our plates of the delicious offerings! Our party had between us the venison, sea bass, chicken curry and two vegan dishes, the cauliflower soup with parsnip shavings and Asian broth. Vegan, gluten free and vegetarian dishes are carefully made to specification with double checks made to ensure it fits in with dietary requirements. Everyone very much enjoyed their dishes. The broken potatoes with rosemary, garlic and feta (vegan if feta not added) could be a stand alone dish, not just a side! My other half raves about the cheese and chorizo dish (designed to be shared but he loves it so much he can, and does, have it to himself!). Mon grows a lot of the fresh produce in her poly tunnel so it couldn’t be any fresher nor more flavoursome. Just make sure you book in early as they’re very popular and tables go quickly. Cannot recommend highly enough. Oh and there’s a brand new air b’n’b apartment there too if you want to go for a break!

Came here today to meet up with my parents for a mothering Sunday lunch. The building had a warm and welcoming appeal to it, and once we went inside, this was replicated by the owner who knew which booking we were without even asking for a name. Food and drink orders were quickly taken, and a nice touch was the bottle of tap water that was offered as well. Both of my parents and I ordered the roast beef, which was succulent and cooked to perfection along with just the right amount of vegetables and gravy. Once the mains were cleared, we ordered desert, and they were simply stunning. A stunning meal all round I will definitely be returning to try the evening menu at some point in the future. We visted yesterday, following the pub reopening for outdoor dining, at the moment, subject to conducive weather conditions. The menu is varied from small plates and light bites to larger plates and woodfired pizzas. My hubs had the chicken ceasar salad with roasted broken potatoes as a small side dish. The salad was made with fresh rocket lettuce, grown in their own polytunnel, as are a lot if not most of the veggies etc. spring onions tomatoes, egg and shredded chicken drizzled with suace, freshly made by Kit, the host. I had a pizza, with the lightest home made pizza base, with ham, chicken, tomatoes and mozerrella, woodfired in the outside oven, freshly made and cooked by Monique, the hostess. Although the courtyard isnt huge, ample social distancing achieved. The ambiance, food and wine was just soo lovely, and we are very grateful they have made the effort to repen Friday Saturday and Sunday lunchtimes, for the alfresco dining, until According to government guidelines, they will be back to fully reopening inside as well in May. Booking is essential. Thanks again Kit and Mon for such a lovely alfresco Sunday lunch. . See you very soon !

Not sure if this was a one off but our experience was disappointing. Perhaps our expectations were too high but we were underwhelmed. Absolutely no atmosphere, very little interaction with the customer and average food.

Wow! What a dinner! Thoroughly enjoyed our meals and would highly recommend. We visited in a group of 5 with a small child and everything was perfect. The staff were very friendly and attentive, the food was absolutely delicious and great value. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.

We visited last week for Sunday lunch and had a great meal out. The owners and staff were excellent. They practised all of the relevant social distancing measures without it affecting the experience at all. The decor was very nice and the food excellent. I would definitely visit again.

We live 20 minutes away and have been looking for a local pub such as this for a while. The welcome as we arrived was lovely and the room we ate in was cozy and beautifully decorated. The service was excellent and the food wonderful, with plenty of choice on the menu. We will certainly return and look forward to trying the Sunday lunch soon.

We visited the restaurant for a belated birthday treat for my daughter and myself. We were unfamiliar with this part of Devon so weren't sure what to expect. I was impressed with the Covid safety arrangements which were emailed to me beforehand. The building is beautiful, and the restaurant very imaginatively decorated. The food was delicious .... So much so that we all had three courses, something we would never normally do! I Can recommend the arancini balls! We were made to feel most welcome. The service was well paced and friendly without being intrusive. All four of us agreed that this was the best meal we'd had in a very long time. The local Holsworthy brew was also very well received! We would all like to wish you well at this trying time and hope that we can visit you again soon. Thank you. The Guest family.

Covid arrangements explained by email in advance so felt very safe and cared for. Lovely warm welcome to slightly quirky old pub. Solicitous service. Unusually adventurous menu. Lots of veg/vegan options. Beautifully cooked and presented. Veg home grown and cooked to perfection! So good we had puddings as well - also great. Very good value as food nicer than many “fine dining” venues.

Good hosts, staff, pub and location. Good choice of drinks. Had good main courses - ribeye and sea bass - but let down a bit by desserts - cheesecake base extremely thick.

We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening at the Molesworth Arms after venturing inland from Bude. Lovely spot, tasteful decor, generous portions of favourite dishes with a few twists to add that little something. The flexible menu makes the most of what's in season and growing locally, and courgettes were a key player when we visited. Charming and chatty mine hosts, nicely judged boutique wine list with some intriguing options, and a cracking pint of ale from just up the road in Holsworthy. Good range of dishes for vegetarians, post-lockdown safety processes followed to the letter, sadly we were heading home before we had a chance to sample the Sunday roast (but the doors are closed on Monday and Tuesday).

Wonderful food in a really lovely relaxed atmosphere. We chose from the vegetarian menu and were pleased to find out that the ingredients were grown in their own polytunnel.

Visited on 9th Sept 2020. They were very meticulous and took social distancing seriously while remaining friendly. The pub has old world charm with a modern twist. The food was excellent and almost deserved a Michelin Star in my opinion. They serve beer from the local brewery, always nice to try.

Must book in advance. Once a booking is confirmed you are then emailed the Covid 19 rules for the establishment and have to return the email accepting the conditions so you feel very safe before you go. There is parking available but be accommodating and park sensibly. The hosts were great, welcoming and made you feel at home. Excellent wine and beer selection. Small menu but food excellent and so well presented. Cannot praise this highly enough.

Without doubt 5 stars! We had a meal here after our wedding ceremony on Friday; Monique, Kit and their staff were the perfect hosts. The table arrangements were perfect, the food was faultlessly delicious and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Your Covid safety precautions made everyone feel comfortable, including my Mum who was very nervous about going out. Thank you so so much, you went above and beyond!

Following our coastal walk in bude we were looking for a Sunday roast on our way back to our holiday let. The Molesowrth didn’t disappoint. The menu is simple but the meat whetheron our occasion the Beef or Lamb did not disappoint. The Beef has been slow cooked over night meaning full of taste and you could cut it like a knife through butter. The lamb was also beautifully cooked almost like pulled pork. Great idea is that if you can’t decide you can have a bit of both which my wife was very happy with meaning she had more meat than me! The puddings were a nice selection and both ours were very tasty. Torn between a four and five rating but service was a little slow but for taste and value it was almost a five. Highly recommended

Even with Covid restrictions this restaurant didn’t lack atmosphere. Staff friendly and helpful, food brilliant. A real plus that we had on site grown salad and veg- a lovely touch. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend or return when in the area again.

We came here for dinner on a Friday evening with a table at 8pm. It’s a very pretty, quaint pub from the outside. Not matched inside with a rather odd collection when it comes to the decor. It may have just been that evening, but the pub was lacking in atmosphere. I understand that they are usually busier in the early evening so if that’s your preference I’d avoid 8pm (which I don’t class as late but we were the last table in that night). The menu was fairly extensive with plenty of vegan options if that’s important to you (it wasn’t to us). The meal started well, with nice arancini. However the main left a lot to be desired; we had the steak and ale pie. The portions were huge - again important to some people - but we both felt it lacked quality. The meat was really rather tough which is unnecessary in a pie when any quality of meat, if stewed well, can be tender. The sauce of the pie was very plain. The pastry had no flavour and the chips were dry. In terms of value the food wasn’t over priced. But the quality could have been much better. They’d gone to a lot of effort to ensure the restaurant was “safe” from a Covid perspective, and the staff were pleasant. But ultimately the food was disappointing. I was surprised given the many glowing reviews on here; I usually find Trip Advisor to be quite a good barometer of what to expect.

We visited for afternoon tea - booked as a gift for our wedding anniversary. Every single piece of the afternoon tea was delicious - and we were so full we had to take some home! Thank you for a lovely experience.
