A great value for money breakfast in a cosy environment perfect for starting the day the bakery also had some nice cakes and savouries to take away for later overall a 10/10 experience.

Forget Arundel’s worst coffee, this takes first prize for England’s worst excuse for coffee ever. Our group experienced something more like coffee flavoured dishwater, than actual coffee. Nobody finished it! To top it off, the staff were blunt & miserable. You’d think with the location a business would make a bit more effort to impress customers.

Absolutely lovely cafe, warm and friendly staff, welcomed with a smile and nothing is too much trouble. Food and service is excellent highly recommend. ×××××

We had a really good visit at this cafe this lunch time. They were busy when we arrived but told us to return in 5 minutes and there would be a table for us. The table was ready for us as promised when we returned. We were allowed to bring our cockapoo in which was perfect. The food we had was tasty, and served quickly by friendly staff. Thank you to the staff for an enjoyable visit.

Four members of staff and not a smile or thank you between them. The Mocha was so poor, that at first I thought I'd been given the wrong drink. Do not order coffee if you are a coffee purest. You'll go home much poorer and unhappy and without your fix. The food I ordered was expensive and not the best. There are many other fine food establishments in Arundel try any of them.

Great “chefs special” breakfast. Delicious and very good value for money. It was so good my Wife and I popped in again the next day and were squeezed in by the friendly staff as it was very busy. Highly recommended

Well where do I start myself and my wife was greeted and seated by a lovely young lady. We ordered the food was fast and hot ham egg and chips was the best I have had in a long time and a big portion will definitely be returning.

Whilst visiting Arundel for the first time we decided to have lunch in the Moathouse. The menu is extensive and this is what drew us in. We were greeted by one of the staff, no hello and waited for me to speak, as this was our first time we weren't sure of the ordering. Once it had been established that we wanted to eat in, we were pointed to a table and told someone will be over shortly to take our order. I'm not sure if the girl who took our order was new but it didn't seem to register what we were ordering, a panini and sandwich with drinks, nothing complicated. Food was served and it was very tasty however I'm not sure we'd choose to eat here again, all staff were rude, not just to us but other customers too, none of them looked as though they wanted to be there, a simple smile goes a long way. There are plenty of other coffee shops in Arundel where staff are much more friendly. A smile costs nothing!!

Visited this cafe on Sunday was lovely a nice little place. food was fabulous all nice and hot and prepared nicely staff was all polite a young lady was in and out of the kitchen making sure everyone was well looked after. Will visit again

A supposedly authentic real Cornish Pasty experience was underwhelming. The staff were not at all warm in greeting or explaining how the ordering was to be conducted. The pasties arrived cold, tasteless and the hot drinks (especially coffee) weak.

We have visited The Moathouse Cafe a few times for take away when visiting the village and having a walk around the lake. There is a large menu with lots of choice to suit all palates and prices are reasonable. Food is quick to be served and a decent size and quality. The service could be a little brighter and more cheery but does the job for a quick in and out.

I used to visit this lovely place a long time ago but today I was in arundel so thought we would try again the breakfast was exceptionally outstanding i believe there is a new chef as I overheard someone say it’s definitely a different cook today I will be returning next week again thank you

We had breakfast here before visiting the 1200 years of combat event af Arundel Castle. There was a great range of cooked breakfast options, all sorts of non-dairy milk options (and the coffee was really good) and the staff were friendly and service good.

Visited moathouse while taking my kids to arundel castle & was amazed to see how rudely the i gather manager (bald guy) was speaking to a lady who was just asking if they had a table. Was told by him that they were to busy and if she didn't want to wait (in his words) go find somewhere else in quite a menacing manner at which point i got my kids & walked out. Will never use again! Absolutely disgraceful way to be considering someone is only trying to give you buisness in this difficult time.

Visited here a few times for breakfast when going down to Dorset. Always had a good breakfast and felt welcome. This time not so much, never have I met such a rude owner (I assume he was the owner or the manager). Didn’t even manage to order as his manner was so rude we left before even reading the menu. I can only assume it’s new owners as it’s been a couple of years since our last visit.We overheard him also saying to another customer “if you don’t like it, find somewhere else” I will not be visiting again & I would urge anyone who thinks customer service is important to find somewhere else.

Went in to have a breakfast for 16 of us with seats available Sat down as lady waitress said just find a table she was very accommodating and said make ourselves comfy. Then it was time for a rude man to come out to us and say cant seat 16 only 8 no explanation nothing just rude and arrogant and poor people skills.In the current climate you would have thought that he would be grateful for the custom never again will I step in this place again.Been here many times before but not anymore steer we'll clear.

We found this little cafe on the morning of our first day on a weekend trip to Arundel. They have a great array of different pastries and other baked goods, but sadly not a great deal for gluten free. There are a few options but of course the range is always limited in comparison to the so called normal options. The takeway coffee though was good and the riverside provided the perfect place in which to enjoy it.

We had takeaway chicken sandwiches on Saturday and takeaway bacon rolls on Sunday both were eaten over the road by the river. Freshly made but not a long wait. Great value and very tasty. Staff were friendly. This place has changed its name to bakeaway.

An old fashioned cafe with a few tables to eat inside but we chose to have take away sandwiches which were ready quite quickly. Lots on the menu to chose from.

Made our way here at just before 1pm and were very disappointed at the lack of choice available for sandwiches. Also, there was a great choice of vegan cakes but not much "normal" cake,which again, we found disappointing. Finally, the hot chocolate was watery and no cream or marshmallows available. Very pricey for quality of food

We just popped in for a coffee on the way to work. Nice to see they had considered social distancing and rearranged the layout. The coffee and sausage roll were excellent.

We enjoyed a wonderful visit to Arundel castle, nearly 1,000 years of history, home to the Duke of Norfolk (Earl Marshall) and an unmissable treat! Looking for a quick drink afterwards, we went into the Moathouse Cafe just around the corner. It looked to be a pleasant if uninspiring cafe, and we were shown to a table at the back of the room.Perhaps it was too far back to be noticed. Although our order was taken reasonably quickly - 3 drinks and two desserts, all straight from the menu - the service was slow to the point of being glacial. After 15 minutes a hot chocolate and latte arrived, although the hot chocolate was not the 'deluxe' version ordered and after calling a waitress the requested toppings duly arrived. Another 5 minutes saw the orange juice arrived, in a bottle (which was fine in these covid times) with a glass, but 20 minutes after we had got there. Just after we arrived the table in front of us sat down, ordered several hot meals, were served, ate their meal and were leaving when our desserts started to arrive, a full 40 minutes after sitting down, and with all of our drinks long finished. We were just about to leave ourselves when cakes arrived. First up was the chocolate brownie, but served cold without the promised cream and ice cream. Another 5 minutes later the bakewell tart arrived, but with ice cream rather than the promised custard. When this was pointed out on delivery, there was no apology and an apparent reluctance to take the plate back.Around 50 minutes after arrival the bakewell tart was delivered as advertised. It was pretty good and the main reason this isn't a one star review!So come on guys, this was a pretty poor performance. 3 out of 5 items incorrect was bad enough, but to take so long - and to deliver food long after drinks, also slow to be delivered - had been finished was really poor.

Stopped here for tea and a snack before visiting the castle. Had a tea and a latte and 2 sausage rolls. Excellent food and helpful staff. Plenty of space between the tables and sanitiser available. Really good value.

Delicious breakfast (visited two consecutive days it was so good) great choice and decent value. Can’t book so when busy on weekends it may mean a wait outside if you want to eat in. Popular for take outs. As they state on the menu its not fast food its good food cooked to order so be patient but it will be rewarded.

We walked into the cafe and said hello to the girl behind the counter, she could barely summon the effort to look up from her phone to return the greeting let alone answer my question of if we could have a table for 2 for coffee. When she finally made her mind up that this was ok, we waited 5 minutes after sitting down for her to finish checking her social media before she came to take our order.On the the flip side, the coffee was quite pleasant.Won't be rushing back.

We went in for breakfast and it was awful. First no face mask or shield warn, They messed up my girlfriend order by giving her the wrong drink and didn't listen when taking the order. The staff were always on there phones, one was eating behind the counter in front of customers. No check on food done. a eggs over cooked and sausage greasy. Will never go back to there again.

The service was so slow and unfriendly and incompetent we almost left. The food was edible when it finally arrived.

Visited first thing on Saturday morning (4 Adults and 1 Baby). We had 3 X Full English Breakfasts, 1 X Chef's Breakfast, 2 X Large Cappuccinos and 2 X Smoothies which came to £41.00p. Not cheap but all of the items were of excellent quality. A highchair was available and all Covid 19 precautions appeared to be in place including "Track and Trace" information collation. The staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. Eat well and stay safe. We will be returning.

My partner and I stopped by here on a walk as we came across a chalkboard style menu hanging outside.The sandwich and panini options were vast, all looking very appetising but in the end settled for fish finger sandwiches and half a ‘Gourmet’ sausage roll each. The fish finger sandwiches were a win. Nice chunky, crispy fish fingers between nice soft bread, slathered with tartar sauce.But we really didn’t understand and was very upset with the sausage roll... which is why we’re only giving a 3 star review rather than a perfect 5.It was advertised as a ‘Gourmet’ sausage roll with no further description. With this description, my mind envisions decent ground pork, probably seasoned with fennel seed or mustard, in between lovely, crisp, all butter puff pastry. To be fair it looked like a decent sausage roll anyway so we went for it. What we got was a sausage roll absolutely laced with chilli. It was F**king hot, and the thought of some parents innocently buying the sausage roll for their young child frankly scares me. My partner isn’t a fan of chilli, and it must have been some kind of chilli sauce used in the meat because it had something of a loose, slimy texture about it and was bright red in colour. I asked one of the girls working in the shop if they had given us the wrong one, and she replied stating that the gourmet sausage roll has chilli in it. Reactions to chilli are serious if one is allergic. This cafe expects you to ponder over the sausage rolls, leaving you to ask what’s in it, else you’ll never know. The mystery sausage roll... I would either be prepared to ask for the ingredients first or don’t bother ordering the sausage rolls at all, for the sake of your health. You may even end up biting into goat meat wrapped in pastry.I might be back for the great sandwiches if I can ever move past the insult of the ‘Gourmet’ sausage roll.

Due to the lack of choice, espresso lovers have problems during lockdown, this cafe ticks all the boxes. Safe working practices, sensible pricing and most importantly, exquisite coffee. Huge choice of snacks and sandwiches available.

We visited this busy coffee shop which also supplies a variety of hot food. The facility was very busy but the friendly staff coped well. Our need was for a coffee which was good quality.

Came here for coffee and cake as a treat, having visited here before. Staff were abrupt and unwelcoming throughout. The homemade apple pie pastry was as tough as old boots and the custard was nasty. The warm chocolate brownie dessert was served cold and the brownie itself was rock hard and stale. The coffees were not nice at all. We also ordered a portion of chips which never came! All in all, a very disappointing experience and very expensive too!

Went to the Moathouse Cafe for breakfast. Incredible menu, the walls are covered in chalkboards offering an amazing amount of meals. I had the vegetarian breakfast with two tasty vegetable sausages, egg, tomato, beans and mushrooms. All washed down with tea and toast. Really lovely, friendly staff, so I highly recommend a visit.

One thing is sure in Arundel is you are not short of tea rooms as they are everywhere!

Visiting Arundel with my wife when staying in Brighton. We wanted a relative light lunch and came upon this cafe. Nice ambiance and large menu. We choose prawn sandwichs with a latte and a smoothie. All the food & drinks were good. Service was fine and would visit again.

My husband and I just love this cafe, with its friendly staff and great, unpretentious food. The food is excellent and plentiful, explaining why it is nearly always so busy.

Fabulous food, staff, service it’s the only place we visit once we’ve had our family walk. Clean and tidy. The cafe is so very friendly as well

Excellent food freshly prepared and at a reasonable price. (We had been staying at a Travel Lodge that offered a very basic cold breakfast for about £2.00 less than the feast we enjoyed here.)

On Thursday I went for a nice long walk through the countryside from Goring to Arundel. When I got there I decided to try out the Moat House for a bit of late lunch.

What a fab little cafe, we live locally and it's the first time we've visited, family friendly, our son loved his dinner! Superb and attentive staff, will deffo be back, menu has enough choice for everyone, even puddings and fab looking milkshakes.

Arrived as a family of 3 to find they had no tables spare so we came back after 30 mins and were seated with no problems , service from the minute we arrived was first class and the food we ordered came out quick and was of really good quality, it’s very cosy in there with the tables quite close together but we would definitely come back , staff really attentive

A nice little place located in the centre of beautiful Arundel. Diverse menu choices, reasonably priced, tables a bit crammed into a relatively small space. An above average experience.

I was passing Arundel on the way to The Engine Shed at Ford and running early so I realised that they wouldn't be open. I decided therefore to stop off in Arundel seeking breakfast. Lucky that I picked The Moathouse Café who open at 8 o'clock (quite unusual for a tourist town in my experience). An all-round satisfactory experience. Pleasant friendly staff who give the impression they're genuinely happy to help, not just "doing a job" like some other places. The food was excellent as was the coffee. I've earmarked it for a visit next time I'm in Arundel.

We have been to this date several times and each time it has been great service and food. If we are anywhere near Arundel we always go to the Moathouse. It's worth a visit and once you've been I'm sure you will be back.

I'm in Arundel often and walked past this cafe many times and not been in, now I wish I had tried it earlier. Saturday 5th we popped in and had an excellent breakfast, good service, and definitely value for money, what a gem this place is, looking forward to my next visit.

A friend was visiting and we took her here for lunch we all had a sandwich which was excellent value for money freshly prepared and served with salad,very enjoyable plesant surrodings the staff are very polite, recomend this lovely cafe.

Took the family for lunch. Good kids menu. Extensive menu for adults. Excellent service with very friendly staff. Looks as if it is known for its food as it was packed. Certainly if I am back in Arundel I would eat there again

Something drew me in there and I have a feeling it wasn’t just the cream tea! I instantly felt at home, such a cozy place. All the signs on walls are kinda riddiculous - it seems that you can get like anything you think of, they even sell some books and maybe even keyrings? How can they possibly keep all that up? But the cream tea was a delicious afternoon treat, staff lovely and friendly, the place was buzzing and everyone seemed happy, I loved the decor, teddybears, funny and thoughtful signs all around... hope I’ll get the chance to come back for some more!

Visited with the family, husband and son loved it as they serve breakfast all day. Food great and you must try the ice cream milkshakes.

This is a very small café, in a good position near the river, with not much space between tables. Service was very poor, we had to cancel our food order as we had finished the tea and still not served our food.

Ate there today, it’s everything I dislike about tourist town cafes overpriced for really poor quality food, it’s not good and as a family £29 for lunch seems reasonable but when you don’t eat most of it as so poor not good. please don’t waste your money try somewhere else

Moathouse Café is situated almost 5 minutes’ walk from the castle itself on the High Street. It is well signposted, so you cannot miss it. Place is small but there is room at the rear, that you cannot see from the outside. It is a busy place, sign of good food and service.

We visited this cafe the first time for lunch. Though we were happy with the service, however we were disappointed to find out that the quiche and the tart were heated up by microwave.

Friendly service. Reasonably priced. Very large menu with a lot of classic dishes. Also tasty milkshakes. We had Welsh rarebit, fish and chips, beef and ale pie, and milkshakes. I am sure this is one of the best places to eat in Arundel.

This cafe was a good stopping point for me and my family on a day trip to Arundel. The food was great value, I had a Ploughman’s Platter and all the ingredients were good quality. I particularly liked the freshly cooked chips. The downside was the service, we had been sat down for about 2 minutes before the waitress came over, huffing, and asked us “are you still not ready for us to take orders.” This seemed a little impatient. I do understand cafes get busy, but I think customer service is really important.

No idea how we have missed this cafe on previous visits to Arundel but will now be a go to for brunch or lunch. Unsurprisingly very busy on a Bank Holiday and we were given fair warning on lead in time for food. Well worth the wait, one of the best full English breakfasts I have ever had, servings were generous, food was tasty and excellent value.

Visited on Easter Monday the cafe wasn’t full but the service was very slow. Could have two or three teas before the food came out. There were no problems with the food just the time it took to arrive. The staff might need to hold back on delivering the drinks a bit and get them out nearer to the food.
