We went with friends for a Sunday roast the staff were welcoming and polite the restaurant lovely warm and cosy and the food was delicious cooked beautifully. We did have to ask for extra Brussels sprouts but that’s just because we all love them and we were kindly given another serving. This was my 2nd visit definitely not my last. We enjoyed a lovely time and a lovely meal Thank you

We visited The Moat last night. It was my second visit and the first time for the friends I was with. The staff welcomed us immediately upon arrival, and were incredibly attentive throughout the meal. The food was hot and delicious, and came out in good time given how busy the dining space. Thank you so much for a great evening. Highly recommend.

From the moment we stepped inside the door to leaving, we were greeted by smiley, friendly staff. We were taken to our table and asked for our drinks order which arrived within 5 minutes. Our Sunday lunch order was taken, which in turn arrived within 10 minutes, even though the restaurant was extremely busy. The staff worked as a team to ensure we received the best service possible without being obtrusive and overbearing. All credit to each one of them, of which there were many, so no danger of being overlooked or forgotten. My wife and I both ordered the roast pork and seasonal veg which was delicious, perfectly cooked and plentiful. One tiny problem with the cauliflower cheese not being as hot as it should have been, but this was instantly rectified. We didn't have room for desserts, but finished off with an exceptional espresso martini (or two) expertly made by, I presume, the head barman. All in all a very enjoyable Sunday lunch. We will be back very soon!

Booked for my birthday meal as had been there previously and really enjoyed it.. However, this time we were so disappointed. Greeting was good.. however that’s where it ended... Gin in a wine glass I can live with.. But when you order a steak and upgrade to a Ribeye from a flat Iron and it looks like a steam roller has gone over it but you still get charged for a ribeye then something is wrong..

Excellent value for money for Sunday lunch.Quality meats and no fewer than 5 vegetables on the plate not including roasted potatoes. vegetables just al-dente as I have them at home, not worth cooking for the price. Came here to celebrate a special birthday. We chose here as this was where our Mum and Dad met over 50 years ago so we did choose it for sentimental reasons and I am so glad we did. There was one vegetarian and one vegan in our party and the food was absolutely amazing. The vegan ice cream was the best I've ever had. The staff were really friendly and welcoming. We explained why we were there and the gentleman showed us round telling us a bit of the history and even took our photograph outside where we had a wedding photo of our Mum and Dad. They all made quite an emotional trip even more special.

We've been here quite a few times and so I thought it's about time that I explained how good it is. Every time we've been we've sat in the bar area which is perfectly ok. My wife always has their chicken burger which she raves about and I absolutely love the steak pie with mash, cabbage and bacon. This pie is so yum I am going to say that it's the best I've had anywhere which is quite a bold statement. All the staff here seem happy and friendly which obviously adds to the whole experience of eating out. There's just one thing that that's frustrated us on our last two visits and that is having to wait an age for our sons dessert to be brought to the table. He should get it as part of his kids meal but we've waited far too long for someone to grab an ice cream from a freezer. It hasn't and wouldn't put us off going back time and again.

I went for lunch here as a table of 7, a couple of weeks ago. We were promptly greeted by a member of staff and seated at our table. Our drinks order was taken and a menu given us. We were shortly visited by the manager who explained the menu what had sold out and where the specials board was. Which was nice he made the effort. From i could see he did visit other tables too. I was impressed that most meals had a small portion available at a reduced rate. Which is great for those with a smaller appitite. Many places i take my nan to the meals are far to large. So she was very pleased that a smaller portion was offered... Although i did not have a dog with me the pub had plenty of signs to indicate it was dog Friendly. Even had a doggy frigde where you could get a doggy ice cream.. loved this. And i will be visiting with my furry friends in the future. The food was served in a good time looked very presentable and was good food. All 7 of us enjoyed ours meals and cleared our plate. And had puddings which was equally as good. My next visit is to try the sunday roast out, which i have heard many good reviews. Anyone wanting to visit i would recommend it highly.. the pub is lovely decorated throughout and has ample parking available.

This is a lovely restaurant with a very relaxed ambience. The staff are all great and our party of five anticipated a great meal. Unfortunately my husband and I had the soup which was supposed to be roasted mediteranean vegetable. It was the consistency of water and tasteless, the other starters were fine. For our main course I chose the vegetarian parsnip and nut roast and my sister also chose it although she does eat meat. I am not sure what was in it but the main flavour was of the cranberries in it, not unpleasant in itself but there were supposed to be parsnips. It had a rather doughy consistency and the whole meal except for the small jug of rather lumpy gravy was tepid. I am not sure why this was because the meals served to the other three people on the table were very nice. It was not our lucky day because for dessert we all chose the apple crumble. Now I am of a certain age of mothers who regularly made crumbles for the family once upon a time, and crumble consisted of flour, sugar and butter rubbed together and baked. This 'crumble was hot apple in a bowl, liberally sprinkled with sugary museli. It looked as if some attempt had been made to brown a small portion on top with a flame, but it did not make it 'crumble'. I very rarely write anything bad where the majority enjoy their meal, but for any vegetarian, like me, I advise you to be careful what you choose.

Four different meals were available for the Sunday lunch, Turkey was not on the menu which was a pity as five of the party would have selected it had been available. All of us had roast beef instead, which came with a mixture of veg, however the veg was not fully cooked, still hard and luke warm. The service was quick and we all had roast beef with extra yorkshire puddings. Portions are extremely generous and my only criticism would be that the vegetables were a little overcooked, but that's probably just me liking broccoli al dente. Wines are good and inexpensive. Thanks to a beautiful sunny evening, we were able to sit outside and the kids merrily played on obstacle course. Annoyingly, customers are allowed to smoke in the garden area and it isn’t pleasant sat in their smelly snoke. Disappointing that customers choosing to enjoy the lovely outside area have to contend with it. Most places now have designated smoking areas (away and shielded) so it seems The Moat is a bit behind the times. Will think twice about coming if we don’t have a booking for the restaurant.

We went on Tuesday 31st July, arriving around 2 p.m. Sign said food served all day. The car park looked busy so wondered if we would get a table. Walked into the bar which was empty. Asked for a table and entered the restaurant and only one table occupied by three ladies and two children. We asked for the Steak & Tanglefoot pie, which they had run out of, so chose the veggie pie option. Waitress came back and said they were out of mashed potato and would we like chips or boiled potatoes, we chose the boiled. We thought it strange no mash as it wouldn't take long to boil and mash some spuds. Whilst we waited the people on the other table called over the waitress as one of the young children had ordered chicken goujons and was given fish. Eventually the child got her right food after the others had finished their meals. Our food turned up and it was okay, nothing special. Whilst eating the people on the other table ordered dessert which, I believe, two of them returned as it wasn't nice. We ordered dessert which was brought to us but without any cutlery. We had to wait a few minutes before any waiting staff were about to get our spoons. I dread to think what the service would have been like if there had been more than the seven of us in the place. It is a shame as the pub looked nice but the service and food need a lot of improvement. Don't think we will bother going again.

Enjoyed an impromptu lunch at the most, the food was served up piping hot by friendly serving staff. I often come here due to the great atmosphere. The prices were about average for the area with us paying £30 for 2 of us.

Can only comment on the sunday lunch.A nice restaurant and dog friendly.Arrived at one for sunday lunch, and i was wary, as only one other couple in the restaurant, although there were people in the garden. The lunch was smothered in a rich tasting gravy, not to everybodys liking. The veg was overcooked, and my beef was covered in gravy whether i wanted it or not.The rich tasting gravy was not liked by my stomach,as this meal quickly passed through me within an hour.I would suggest the management book a table at the Fighting cocks at Horton Kirby,to see just how Sunday lunch should be

stopped here for dinner despite a lot of negative reviews. When we pulled up there were a lot of cars in the car park, we then realised there was a wedding taking place. Inside however there was only one member of staff behind the bar. we waited patiently to be served. I mentioned that we wanted to eat and was told to take a menu and when we had selected what we wanted to return to the bar with our table number, but because there was a wedding taking place we may have to wait half an hour for our food. that didn't seem too much of a problem, so we brought some drinks and sat at a table and chose what we wanted. a few minutes later when i returned to the bar with our order, i was told that they were no longer serving food because the kitchen staff were busy serving the wedding party. another couple were also told the same thing however they had not brought drinks. myself and the other couple both complained to the barmaid while a scruffy little man who i assume was her boss watched on from the other end of the bar and swiftly disappeared. we were deliberately misled. no apology was made or even the offer of a reimbursement for the drinks we had brought. we had to leave the drinks on the table, because my husband is diabetic and we needed to find somewhere else to eat.

Had to take a couple of visiting friends from Wales an experience of Kent hospitality in the form of what I think is one of the best pubs in Kent.... I mean I had to drive over from Essex (over dreaded Bridge) that's how much I wanted to show of one of my favourite establishments... And my friends were well impressed with the establishment... Brilliant service, brilliant food... Excellent around pub.... Highly recommend this gaff..

This pub has been made to look tidy and inviting from the outside, inside it is untidy, the tables are terrible, the chairs all different, Saturday evening meal, choose from the menu, waiters reply sorry that's off. fish with samphire, again no samphire, no offer of a different vegetable, price still the same.

I used to live in the area, and we had been out for the day and were quite hungry so thinking of The Moat I suggested we went there. Initially the menu looked good a nice range of food . My Husband ordered a steak pie and was enjoying his meal but then found a rather large lump of gristle in it which was inedible.

A lovely wetherspoons with everything you'd expect. Their usual menu and drinks are available. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating and surprisingly there isn't a mountain to climb for the toilets. Nice
