The Moat, Wrotham in Tonbridge and Malling

This was our second visit the first was in September, on both occasions the staff were very helpful and friendly whilst the food was fantastic. On this last visit they were packed to the limit and working at full tilt yet they were still smiling and had time to check everything was okay throughout the meal ensuring everything was to our liking, it made for a very relaxed atmosphere. The food was excellent/superb and in quantities that we were both replete before the desert and yet that could not be missed we had the crumble and brownie both were delicious. For a weekend meal I strongly advise booking a table in advance.

Friendly, professional staff. A Beautiful venue and the food was excellent. We had the Thai curry, chicken burger and fish and chips ( the best fish I have tasted!)

We have used this restaurant over a good period of time and have never had a bad meal. Very good food and all staff friendly and help fully. Nice atmosphere very enjoyable lunch with family.

Staff were very welcoming on arrival. Waitress was very helpful and informative. We asked some questions about the menu and any she couldn’t answer, she refereed to the chef and came back soon with the answers. The fish cake was a new dish to the menu and was really good. Would definitely recommend. All in all a very nice experience. Thank you.

Fantastic service and food, we had a party of 10 to celebrate a 60th birthday. Nothing was too much trouble. Could not fault a thing. Resturant was clean, warm and beautiful kept.

Went for lunch with a friend. I'd not been to this Beefeater before but will definitely go again. The food was delicious and arrived promptly. Sue, our server, was polite, friendly and helpful. She showed us the best deals and took time to genuinely check we were ok. The restaurant was clean and well presented.

An amazing environment, filled with quality time with family, everything was perfect in this lunch at the moat however as a customer who has been here a few times, a waitress with blonde hair stopped me and my family walking back to the car park. She asked me in a rude tone shouting half way across the car park exclaiming to me if I have paid the bill. After I said yes and I had the receipt,she asked me for proof. Embarrassing behaviour. I feel really terrible in my behalf and I don't think I will be coming here again. The food was great and so was the service and environment, however to run a restaurant communication is key. I will not be returning here ever again as I am embarrassed and filled with anger. People do make mistakes but always check with your co-workers. Hospitality is a team effort.

Been to The Moat on many occasions so knew what to expect - and was not disappointed; great food (wide choice of different food on the menu), local beers and great service.

We were a group of 7 friends celebrating one of us moving to Australia so had a long lunch on a grey Monday in September. The food was good and the service exceptional. We had a number of restaurant staff looking after us which they all did with a smile. Would definitely recommend.

We had a really, really lovely meal, the staff were very attentive and we really did enjoy all the moat had to offer, anyone thinking of going should go, we have been out for lunch a few times over the last few months and this was by far the best and we will certainly return very soon.

As usual the Moat exceeded expectations. Lovely food, staff, surroundings. We have been meeting as a group of retired nurses for a while now in different restaurants and after Monday's visit have decided to make the Moat our permanent place.

We arrived at 5:30 and by 5:45, we had been seated and had already received our drinks and our mains. The staff were absolutely lovely, friendly and efficient. The food was divine and very fair priced for the quality and quantity. We will definitely be returning.

We've been visiting The Moat for a long time and spending a lot of money on every occasion, the experience which occurred yesterday has made us come to the conclusion that we will no longer frequent this establishment. We went into the bar and ordered our drinks and decided to sit in the rear garden, with many other patrons, we choose to sit in the glorious sunshine but then realised that if we are going to eat it would be best to sit in the shade , so we picked up our drinks and moved over one table to be in the shade, just as we was about to sit down a member of staff (we think he was the manager) said to us in a very rude and ignorant manner "inform a staff member before you move tables next time". We was visiting this with our elderly mother and did not want to cause a seen as this was her first visit but unfortunately this will now be her first and her/our last visit .

Food was very poor the menu didn’t cover all aspects of people’s requirements ingredients were poor the value was over the food if the menu and quality doesn’t change we will not return and will not recommend it the staff need more customer service skills all bad experience and for my husband who’s birthday it was expected a little better ruined it for him

Another great night at The Moat - booked an early dinner which was excellent with fabulous service. As we there to watch the band, Kiss The Shapes, they advised us to grab a table promptly, which we did. The music was brilliant, a mix of jazz/funk, disco and soul - singers were superb as were the brass section. Great atmosphere which got everyone up and dancing. The management here are first rate and can only think it must be a great place to work as the staff remain the same - you will not be disappointed!

I hired the Tap Room for my sister’s 50th birthday celebrations the room is perfect for a party. The decor is so beautiful we had so many compliments from guests to say what a great time they had and what a wonderful venue. The staff at the Moat were amazing and worked so hard to ensure everything was perfect for the party. The bar service on the night was amazing and the food was excellent. I would highly recommend this place their outstanding hospitality.

Booked The Moat for my mums birthday meal and the food was gorgeous and the staff were extremely helpful. My mum has a-lot of allergies and the staff were very accommodating.

From the moment we stepped inside the door to leaving, we were greeted by smiley, friendly staff. We were taken to our table and asked for our drinks order which arrived within 5 minutes. Our Sunday lunch order was taken, which in turn arrived within 10 minutes, even though the restaurant was extremely busy. The staff worked as a team to ensure we received the best service possible without being obtrusive and overbearing. All credit to each one of them, of which there were many, so no danger of being overlooked or forgotten. My wife and I both ordered the roast pork and seasonal veg which was delicious, perfectly cooked and plentiful. One tiny problem with the cauliflower cheese not being as hot as it should have been, but this was instantly rectified. We didn't have room for desserts, but finished off with an exceptional espresso martini (or two) expertly made by, I presume, the head barman. All in all a very enjoyable Sunday lunch. We will be back very soon!

Another lovely experience at The Moat. I have never been disappointed with the food, always excellent & the staff wonderfully friendly & service excellent too. This time was a lunch with friends to celebrate the start of a new year. Other times it is usually an early evening meal with our dogs & they too are made to feel welcome so how can you not want to visit The Moat.

Lovely food, and well presented venue. Can't quite grasp charging service charge for a drink and a light lunch bite. We ordered the same drinks after and service charge wasn't added to the drinks but it was to the drinks we had with our meal?

Attended with friends for NYE meal and the food and service was excellent. All staff friendly and checked our food was satisfactory, asked if more drinks required and made us feel very welcome. Moved into the DJ area for the countdown and the buzz of the room was amaing. Mixed age groups all have fantastic time togehter. Came as a couple to The Moat for the New Years Eve celebrations. I love the quaintness of this restaurant and all the history so respectfully displayed. Staff are so pleasant and nothing is too much trouble. Food was 💯 percent so beautifully plated and delicious. Had the option of going into the function room for NYE countdown disco with DJ but chose not to - personal choice, it was perfect just to relax in the restaurant at our table with wine and cheese board.

This was our fourth visit whilst traveling back to Cambridge the roast potatoes were so delicious and red cabbage a nice surprise,the Yorkshire just right .My daughter asked for Pigs in Blankets which were also delicious. The only thing to mare the experience was the cost of the Orange juice ,we will certainly work in another visit when going to Kent again

Had a wonderful lunch at The Moat this afternoon. Greeted by the GM I immediately felt most welcome and safe. The hospitality industry has taken a beating during Covid but this place is strict and light while enforcing the rules. The staff follow the GMs lead and I will be back. Brilliant coffee too.

Stopped off en route to the Shuttle after a long journey. Had reserved without realising they were still doing the half-price meals and that was a present surprise but both food and service would have been good value at full price.Good Covid awareness too, which currently counts for a lot.

Very warm welcome, felt very Covid safe and relaxed, excellent safety system in place, the staff here are amazing and very professional we were a party of 4 adults and an infant, 3 of us had a roast dinner which was absolutely delicious, one of our party had a fish dish called Ling which I had never heard of but was absolutely delicious, in fact the guy who was eating it said it was the best meal he had eaten in ages could not fault the Moat at all will be back very soon

First time I've visited this pub / restaurant. Really glad to say it was worth the visit. Professional and polite welcome, tables spaced apart better than any other pub / restaurant I've been to since lockdown, good choice of beers, and steaks were cooked exactly as ordered. Landlord Scott made our party of 5 welcome, will definitely return.

All had excellent main courses and deserts in a rustic but warm atmosphere. Staff very friendly and unobtrusive, will certainly be back. An added bonus that they continued the Eat Out discount!

Booked for my birthday meal as had been there previously and really enjoyed it.. However, this time we were so disappointed. Greeting was good.. however that’s where it ended... Gin in a wine glass I can live with.. But when you order a steak and upgrade to a Ribeye from a flat Iron and it looks like a steam roller has gone over it but you still get charged for a ribeye then something is wrong..
