We stayed at Poston Mill Touring Park for 3 nights and decided to eat at The Mill on our first night. Such was the standard of food and drink, together with the generous portion sizes, friendliness of the staff and value for money that we have dined here for all of our stay. The food and drink is great and the vegetarian/vegan choice for my wife was equally as good. My wife asked if she could have a vegan Waldorf salad, Ed (the chef) prepared one for her and it was superb. It would be wrong to comment on any specific menu choice but I can’t help mentioning the home made Burgers, ginormous Pizza’s and especially Chef’s famous Ribs. We can’t recommend the restaurant enough.

We’re from South Wales spending the night in Dorstone. We decided to visit The Mill for our dinner and we were so impressed with the service! Food was delicious, reasonably priced and waitresses were both friendly and kind. One of them went out of their way to try to entertain our 6 month old while we ate our food which really filled my heart. I can’t recommend this place enough! If we visit the area again we will 100% return!

I had the chilli Mill burger has chilli jam to provide a sweet heat accompaniment with chipotle bacon plus chips Other half had fish and chips pea’s tartare sce We also had the Mac and cheese side it was screaming hot with gooey cheese The food was delicious well presented My only criticism would be the fish could have been a freshly battered cod rather than a bought in cod. I haven’t posted on TripAdvisor in the past but felt the need to add a few suggestions to the Mill. There used to be bar stools and tables in the downstairs bar area, great for a few drinks and chatting with neighbours/others or for a pre meal drink. Sadly, these have been removed and replaced with 3 sofas!! Sofas are great for Costa Coffee but not for drinking pints! In addition, there are signs saying do not stand at the bar, drinkers do not want to sit on sofas and either want high stalls and the barrel tables (these were removed in 2023) or to sit/stand at the bar. When customers arrive that have booked a table for food they are taken straight to their table upstairs, surely if they sat in the bar area, had a drink and placed their order then they would likely drink more – perhaps you are missing a trick here – people on holiday or away for the weekend are generally not in a rush and would like to be out for the evening! During the summer we sit outside, have a couple of drinks and then order food, and several more drinks – works really well. And next is the draft beer, there is only one choice for draft beer which is totally understandable for somewhere without a massive turnover but please, please offer beers that the majority of us will drink. A session beer such as IPA, London Pride etc, not some obscure dark beer or something else that no one knows, ok if there is a ‘standard’ option plus a guest beer but there isn’t so it puts us off visiting. For example, Abbott Reserve at 6.5% over Christmas meant we didn’t visit, sorry but with no other choice then we will go somewhere else. The food is great, well done to the chef, especially 10 out of 10 for the Sunday lunches, staff are friendly and helpful but feel the above areas need to be fixed to make the place an excellent venue! I do hope that this is taken as constructive and not a moan. I have spent many years working in hospitality and feel these minor changes will a massive difference.

We pop in for a meal every now and then, but this week we have been twice. Once for lunch on Friday and again on Sunday for Sunday lunch. On Friday I had Fish and Chips and my husband had a burger and chips. Which were both lovely and tasty. You do need to book for Sunday lunch, as it can be busy. The Sunday menu had a good selection of choices. Starters, Mains and Desserts. Our starters were lovely and I had beef and my husband had the lamb for our mains which were very nice. Then we both chose apple crumble for pudding. The crumble was perfect. To be honest the whole meal was perfect. The Mill is run by a lovely couple who are both very friendly and look after you. Their staff for the busier times are all very friendly and very attentive. We would thoroughly recommend this little gem in the Hereford countryside.

This was our local pub during a weeks holiday and we ate there 3 times. This may not seem to be such a big deal but put into the context that we tend to apply an equal split to eating in/eating out.The hosts (Dan & Ffion) are very friendly and go out of their way to satisfy dietary needs (given a reasonable amount of notice). The Mill is wheelchair friendly, alhough there are a couple of slopes/ramps to navigate.Dogs are also welcome. There were also 2 real ales on tap and another pale ale on a chilled pump.Whilst the vegan menu is not huge, Dan is able to knock up something very palatable and tasty - as long as you discuss with Dan to confirm availability of ingredients. We would very much recommend the following: leek and mushroom crumble; rangdang curry (although standard seems to be (understandably) mild) and the vegan pizza. All dishes were very tasty and great value for money.

Nice place, unusual as on several levels due to its history. We both went for the carbonara. Wow! Absolutely delicious and a generous portion to boot. They have local, or speciality, beers and ciders on and the wine was good although it could have been slightly cooler.Only reason for the rating is that we couldn't guage the ambience. First visit the place was completely empty, and the ‘landlord’ asked with a toss of his head whether we had thought to book a table, despite it being empty. On the third visit, after we paid the bill they asked us to keep the noise down. We weren’t aware of being overly noisy, just an average family. Interesting they got their money again before that said anything. Definitely not family friendly. We won’t be back. We were staying on caravan park so popped in. Nice selection of beer. We ate upstairs which was a little chilly. My Welsh rarebit starter was good, I had pork as a main, which with the black pudding and cider gravy was great. My wife liked her leek and potato soup but thought the bolognese needed a bit more taste. Staff were lovely.

Went here on Friday night and there was a group of 7 of us. We were easily accommodated upstairs and looked after very well. The staff were wonderful and helpful and the food was really delicious. We did not leave a crumb. Staying locally so this was a great find. Highly recommended.

Great menu of traditional British dishes and good prices. Ate here two evenings in a row. Rump steak the first night cooked exactly as I asked (rare), then on the second night excellent bangers and mash. Very good wines. The staff were all very friendly and helpful.

We had a good diner in The Mill. The waitresses was friendly and helpfull. There was a big group and the told us it would be a little bit longer to serve our meal. We didn't noticed this. The food was excellent. The diningroom is upstairs, with pleanty of room between the tables. Diner ins only in the weekend, but lunch is every day. We can recommand this restaurant.

Very friendly, family run, quaint and quirky. We were made very welcome by Jess, the owner, and the place had a lovely charm and atmosphere. It had an air of character and history to it, which we really liked. We booked ahead to enable us to have the mixed grill on a Sunday, and nothing was too much trouble for them.

We were staying on the park opposite for one night and didn't fancy cooking so decided to have a lunch (as they weren't open on Weds evening). We chose the chicken curry. It was delicious. A good size portion and clearly home made, served with poppadum and chips as well as rice. The pub is cosy and I would recommend it especially if you are a stone's throw away on the caravan park. It was also good value.

I called in with my elderly parents at lunchtime. The lovely staff had seen them coming across the car park with walking sticks, etc. and moved downstairs tables together for us, before we were even through the door. Very warm welcome.

Beautiful scenic spot, absolutely stunning. Dog friendly. Food was amazing and atmosphere good too. Boat was running as water was too high but didn’t matter to us!

A textbook experience from the moment we entered this charmingly characterful pub restaurant. The staff were attentive from the beginning to the end, polite & friendly. Our meals were well cooked & delicious & we ended with a tea & coffee; my coffee was the best I've experienced in a long time! We shall certainly return quite soon!

Absolutely shocking Saturday lunch experience. Arrived mid lunch time to an empty pub and miserable, unwelcoming, inconvenienced bar maid. All the ale was off. Most of the specials weren’t on so ordered the wild boar hot dog with a salad. It arrived in a stale, cremated smart price bun. The actual hot dog had been oven cooked until it was blackened, it looked like it had been heated up multiple times. Diced, undercooked onions. The meal arrived with a huge portion of oven chips (frozen, undercooked), no salad. Tried mentioning this to the waitress but she’d stormed off. Honestly, the worst paid meal I’ve ever had. Didn’t finish, left and won’t ever be back. Now I understand why the place was empty. The place has so much potential. Hopefully it goes bust and is bought by someone that understands good hospitality.

We were staying on the Malvern View Country and Leisure Park for a weekend stay which we could not fault. However, we dined at The Old Barnhouse on the Saturday evening and unfortunately the food was terrible. We waited for nearly an hour and when the food arrived it was half cold. My mother and father had scampi and chips, no peas and they were out of tartare sauce! My sister and I had the New Yorker chicken which consisted of a huge portion of coleslaw that wasn’t very nice and the chicken was small and if poor quality. My daughter had a kids pizza, chips and beans which was just about acceptable. The five meals and a round of drinks came to over £80 which was appalling for the quality of the food. Avoid The Old Barnhouse for food! Pleasant enough for a drink.
