The Milestone At Hinckley in Hinckley and Bosworth

(Short version) No fault of the waiting staff, but a huge disappointment at the lack of 'Sunday Dinners' and being told that we were not able to use an in date voucher due to the 'till not accepting them'. Not told that some elements of the dishes that were served up were not available. All-round really poor dining experience. (Long version) Booked in advance for 5.45pm. arrived, waited a little while to be seated as staff seemed busy serving seated customers. After being shown to our table we were immediately told there were 'only 2 Turkey dinners left'. No problem, I thought, there's beef and chicken on the menu as well, and as my daughter was keen to have turkey at least she's sorted. When we came to order, I had misunderstood - only 2 turkey dinners left meant only 2 Roast dinners left!! Really?? We've booked for a Sunday, you have the Sunday menu out on the tables and we can't all have a Sunday roast??? Poor show Marstons. Then, when we come to settle the bill we are told a voucher that is in date cannot be used as the 'till won't accept it'. No point giving grief to the waiting staff (who seemed to be working really hard - and likely short staffed), so this is my complaint to you, to which I would appreciate a response and offer of how you intend to rectify our less than satisfactory experience.

As a new family of 3 we decided to treat ourselves and go out for some food for a change. After arriving we were shown to our table with the waitress scurrying off without saying a word. There was a lovely family of 3 on the table next to us who offered to move the table up so we could get the pram in next to us, which we did and sat down to have a look at the menu. We were greeted after about 30 seconds by what I can only assume was the manager, but didn't introduce herself, to then be told we can't sit in the restaurant and would have to sit in the bar if we wanted food. It was suggested that we had to move because someone could walk into the pram or our baby. Not that it was a trip hazard or blocking a walkway that another route could have been used behind the family just next to us.. We were also told we couldn't move tables in the restaurant as they were back to back , although there was about 7 free tables and a table in the corner with a gentleman sat on, who probably would have had no complaints moving. But again, there was so many free tables that could have been swapped I couldn't understand how that was an issue. We were made to feel like we were in the way and unwelcome, with no effort to resolve the 'problem' as the manager just disappeared and left us at our table. Not a nice experience for a new family and the very limited opportunity we get to go out for food. As we left, there was seemingly another couple or family being asked to sit in the bar, even though they had booked a table.. so perhaps just overbooked themselves. Would not recommend.

Great food and service. Will definitely return. The staff were great with my 4 year old too. Bit of a wait between mains and dessert but that's to be expected on a busy Saturday.

Service took a while, food was OK. Steak a little tough and burger too crispy. Took ages to get our plates cleared after finishing main course. 35 delivery time. Overall, OK, will go back as it's a nice venue

Popped in here without booking and couldn't get in to the restaurant but was told we could sit near the bar which was fine. Service was fairly quick considering it was a busy Friday afternoon.All the food we had was very good and priced very reasonably. We will definitely be returning here again

Waitresses were very nice and helpful, good menu and really good clear menu and choices for gluten free. The food was good and everyone cleared their plates. Service was a little slow but we weren’t in a rush so that was not an issue for us. Overall, it was a good experience.

Great lovely lady showing us to a table, unfortunately the pizza area smelled like they had just put a fire out. Even though the restaurant was almost empty we had a choice of two tables?? We sat in the bar area and it was so cold! I’m presuming it was the landlady at the bar but she didn’t look very happy to see anyone and certainly wasn’t dressed appropriately! Perhaps I have it wrong? Maybe she was the cleaner? I had steak served with frozen peppercorn sauce but didn’t dare question it! I know you can’t please everyone but I’d give every place a chance. I always give fair reviews but I won’t be returning.

Was a lovely day all staff was friendly and cheerful they helped sort cake and candles out for my boyfriends birthday they make sure everything was perfect for us and we’re so lovely and had a great sense of humour.

We visited Thursday lunchtime having booked online. The welcome was friendly, service was excellent and both meals were nicely presented and tasty: we had the steak and drink offer which was excellent value.

Had to wait for 20 min for orders to be taken and then another 1 hour for food to arrive . No explanation given by staff why there was such a delay.

Fabulous food, reasonable price and very lovely and friendly staff. Perfect evening for a catch up with a friend over dinner. The staff couldn’t do enough. They were smiley, friendly, gave recommendations, and just generally made the dining experience a real pleasure. Would go back and would definitely recommend.

Very disappointed due to long waits. We waited for a while to be seated - despite staff seeing us. We then waited for about 15 minutes for waitress to approach us. When we asked for festive meals she told us they had to be pre-ordered online. We had looked online prior to arriving and there was no prominent info on this. Just given the offer to pre-order. The available festive menu was abysmal. We left and will not be rushing back!

Yet again great food great value only surpassed by the staff who all go the extra mile, it seems to be improving and getting better

Took my family out for my sons 2nd birthday and we all really enjoyed it, service was good thanks to the ladies that served our table. (Hoped they enjoyed the cake I left for them!) The staff were all lovely and the food was delicious everyone ate everything including my fussy 2 year old boy. As I'm a manager in a restaurant myself, I really appreciate the service and food and would 100% recommend this place to anyone. Thank you so much!

Had a lovely meal served by lovely friendly people what more could you ask for. Food was hot and delicious no waiting around service with a smile great.

I visited the mile stone a few months ago and had dealings with Ben supposedly an assistant manager his customer service was disgraceful but we went in tonight was greeted by a wonderful young lady Amelia she was absolutely amazing Ben needs to take a leaf out of her book the service could not have been better on leaving Amelia thanked us for having a meal there and said she would look forward to seeing us again she really is a credit to the milestone thankyou so much we will definitely be back again

We had a lovely evening, food was great, staff were so friendly and polite. Amelia made us fell so welcome. Would definitely come back.

We had three dishes, roast beef dinner, steak pie, and gammon steak. The roast beef I was wary of, as you can get unpleasant beef roasts. Homemade yorkshires, without doubt, fresh, not frozen roasties. Best roast I have had for years from a restaurant. Well done, chef. Gammon steak with pineapple and egg, my mother in law loved, and steak pie heartily devoured by my wife. We've been here before and it wasn't brilliant, so well done to the staff who have turned this around.

Sadly not really much I can say arrived to find pre booked table appeared not to be available for 2. Asked to go to the bar where no one appeared to be avaialble to serve me. Other parties arrived after me and were seated. No further communication from staff so in the end made another booking whilst waiting for another restaurant in town and enjoyed a fantastic meal elsewhere

Booked online. Seated promptly at 6:30pm and then informed there was a 45 minute wait for food. Going home and cooking or going elsewhere would have cost the same in time, so stayed. Ordered nachos sharing starter with pulled pork. Starter arrived with no pulled pork and when we queries this waitress seemed amazed we’d ordered it & kept saying it costs extra. Anyway pork came out and it was lovely. Main courses arrived after 45 minutes and husband’s had chips instead of the jacket spud he had ordered. His steak was supposed to be a sirloin medium done. It was definitely not a sirloin and was tough as old boots. We bagged it up and took it home for the dog. Young girl and lad who served us were lovely but rushed off their feet with a full house and presumably short staffed in the kitchen to justify 45 minute wait for food. So didn’t want to complain to them, as issues not their fault. Management of kitchen obviously to blame. Ruined my husband’s 50th birthday tea. Luckily we’d been out on the Saturday previously with family for a proper celebration meal, otherwise would have been a ruined birthday.

Good choice of food. There was 3 of us and all our meals were hot and very nice. The server was very friendly and chatty. We were visiting family and go there when visiting.

This was a family meal out for a Sunday evening , of which the staff were very friendly, the meals were excellent ( all clean plates at the end ) very good value for money and a nice atmosphere. We will be returning soon.

Steak wasn't of usual standard very chewy just looked like it was cut of an end not convinced it was 8oz. The man on the bar in the dog area was outstanding nothing was to much trouble for him made us feel very welcome.

We visited the Milestone to celebrate a 50th birthday . There was 18 of us. we pre ordered our menus so we didn't have to wait long for the food with having some young children. Food was cooked really well very hot when it came out. As for the staff our server (unfortunately didn't get his name) went above and beyond to make sure we was happy and everything went to plan. Can't fault anything

Excellent meal for 8 adults and 2 children, during peak time. Staff were friendly and attentive. Meals were served in a reasonable time frame considering how busy the restaurant was with no errors.

Had to wait around an hour for the meal. Asked for rare steak with mixed grill,was overcooked had to send back. Didn't receive egg so was brought on a plate and was virtually raw. Very average meal if that.

Went with hubby for their steak night. I had gammon which was really nice and very tasty . Husband had steak again cooked well and enjoyed. Both had desserts which were lovely too. Staff were very pleasant and friendly.

We returned as promised. Service still excellent, particularly as it was very busy. Really happy with the food. This could well be a regular place for us.

Service was very good and the pub was very busy and there never seams to be quite enough staff however I ordered a steak which looked perfectly cooked but I had a job to cut it as it was really tough. The waitress offered to change it and although the second one was slightly better it had been smothered with and cooked with pepper which I couldn't eat so very disappointed

We had booked a table for 10 people and then only 4 turned up. I explained to the young man who greeted us (sorry don’t know his name) was very good about it. We then had another 3 turn up once had had re-arranged the tables but nothing was too much trouble for him and we weren't made to feel like an inconvenience at all - thank you!

The staff are always friendly, particularly Noah and Chanelle. Food is very hit and miss. Hunters chicken was lovely, but they didn't have any gammon (or mustard). My husband's steak (as always) wasn't great ...chewy and not great quality meat! Service was pretty quick considering they were very busy due to 30% mains voucher. The staff always work really hard and do their best.

8 family members ate here.We only had mains and a drink.Service was fairly quick and pleasant aswell.
