Huge pub, three floors, loads of tables. Could sometimes do with a few more bar staff. Beer is cheap. Food is ok and comes to your table pretty quickly.

I had a lovely breakfast and a few coffees, great location just around the corner from Newcastle Central station.

Wetherspoon offers surprisingly delicious food and drink for its price point. The chicken and pasta dishes are flavorful and satisfying, while the mango and beer selections are refreshing and well-chosen.

Good cheap breakfast in this popular spot close to the train station. Food was fairly good although the poached egg was hard. Service was quick.

Dire service in the bar. 20 minute waits to get served at the bar, 25 when ordering through the app. Staff either need to be trained better, or they simply need to be faster.

Sure is a spoons alright. Kinda boring tho. Most are of interesting designs, this one is a cube with 3 floors. Not tastefully done at all. Cheap prices thanks to be being a mega spoons tho. Haven't stayed in the hotel, I presume it's fine. Right opposite central station though, so really handy for a few pints

Didn't stay here, popped in for some food. Apart from my sausage and toast being just warm - which I was told by a local, this is the normal heat of food here - it was nice. Service was good. Staff were friendly.

Great spoons with all the usual you would expect from them, the new festive menu is very nice and would recommend the festive pizza! Good service and good atmosphere for a decent price

Hotel opens later this month (November 2024). Pub was fairly busy but the service was friendly and prompt. Location is great if you are arriving by train and then you have good access to the city.

id avoid this one again, right next too a train station so all 3 floors were packed with people all with suitcases waiting for the trains, literally every floor was packed only found a table when someone moved, then a 40 minute wait for food, and they got the drinks order wrong

i have elhers danlos syndrome and postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome, when i was outside in the smoking area i saw a plastic chair and sat on it right by they were stacked but the bouncers came over and took it away from me even tho i explained my disability and explained i really needed an outdoor seating (this was way before the outdoor seating needed to be put away 9pm?) but all 4 bouncers weren’t happy with my disability then did not let me back in even though they saw me leave with my mates and let my mates by in and saw my valid driving license, they eventually let me back in but im disappointed in the lack of disability help and the fact they singled me out when trying to re enter.

Zombie bar staff need to focus on serving customers, I guess you can’t get the staff these days

A very typical Wetherspoons pub with all the usual cheap beers and ales. The food was normal Wetherspoons fare which was fine for the drinking session. The pub building was huge and spread over 3 floors with a very good service. Handily near the train station.

Spent the afternoon here whilst staying in Newcastle. Enjoyed several drinks and a nice fish and chips.

Situated at the corner of Grainger Street and Westgate Road like many of Wetherspoons buildings, it is a conversion of a fine Romano-Grecian style building of impressive stature. If travelling by Metro get out at Westgate Road exit. The Mile Castle is opposite to the historic St John's church and within walking distance of many places of historic interest including St. Nicholas Cathedral where the famous John Knox once preached & Haidrian's Wall (which may be restored once us Scots get Independence!). There are three levels to the Mile Castle building and the stairway can be awkward for those of us with mobility problems as the lift facility is to the rear of each floor. I am not sure if there is a way in to the right side of the building further up Grainger Street. The place provided the usual food and drink throughout the day and it can be very lively at weekends. Wouldn't recommend wheelchair travellers to the place at weekends or evenings whenever there is a game on in Toon. The place appears to be well run with adequate staff and good security but I have known the odd cold meal being delivered so don't be afraid to request a warm meal if yours is nor warm enough - staff may givE the odd grunt under their breath but will willingly resolve your difficulty. On parking you will have the normal problems of city centre parking so better get studying your city Google maps before setting off. As for wheelchair users would advise same with the added warning that this particular part of the Toon can be very frantic at certain times of the day so bear that in mind. A further warning for those using the third floor, be prepared to be interrupted after 1900 hrs on any night if the place has a band or some event on. It is a good venue to meet friends and has enough cosy places to have private conversations so enjoy your visit.

We stopped for some food and drinks before a concert nearby, and most of the staff were really friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, things took a turn when a staff member wearing a 'Team Leader' badge came over to deliver drinks. Without any eye contact or basic courtesy, they demanded one of our group “move your phone,” without a please or thank you. The table was admittedly cluttered with uncleared dishes and glasses, but there was still enough space. When a member of our party, who works in the service industry, tried to assist with the drinks, they were sharply told, “don’t touch it.” The Team Leader never made eye contact or demonstrated any semblance of customer service, coming across as aggressive and setting a poor example for the rest of the staff. It was an unfortunate end to an otherwise decent visit to Wetherspoons. I’ve never encountered such rude or disrespectful staff at other locations.

Went to grab some food and drinks before attending a concert in the area. The costumer service was nightmare. Impolite security, they ruined our family night, we were on top floor next to the dj’s stage, he came to us and had bad behaviours with family and said don’t pass from here I had an argument with him that we just standing here with family then he talked to security and they kicked us out why????

Mile Castle Wetherspoon ideally placed for Newcastle railway station. Drinks served here were good quality. The food was mediocre. Service good in a busy bar.

We love it here more so since it's been renovated the staff and always friendly the food is great. On a Friday and Saturday night there's bad DJ on and it bouncing the atmosphere is amazing so I'd definitely recommend people to come here

Last night Friday really packed but good and got to be one of the only Spoons with Music

One of my favourite pubs in Newcastle, which says a lot! Why? Good city centre location opposite St Johns historic church. About five minutes from Newcastle train station. The Mile Castle is an impressive building with its history explained by information given on walls. There are three bars on three levels that all have a different atmosphere. Food is standard Wetherspoon fare so good value for money. Music on the third floor bar on Friday and Saturday. The bar staff are always willing and helpful.

Good prices and is located very short walk from the train station. Good to kill a few hours.

Quick service, good and cheap real ale

Went for early meal after getting off train, very close to station. Very busy as there was a football match that evening. Very big 3 floors. Food and menu same as all other Wetherspoons. Quick service considering how busy it was.

Can't go wrong with a Wetherspoons meal. We were looking for a place to eat after 10 p.m., and Wetherspoons were still serving. They have an easy ordering system via the app nowadays, so you don't even have to go up to the bar and queue, which is handy. The food comes quite quickly, and obviously, it won't be the best food ever, but it's reliable, warm, and a good enough standard for a very good value. Their chips are really pretty good and they have a wide selection of meals to choose from. It might not be this exact one, but I will definitely be returning to Wetherspoons again.

It's a wetherspoons. As it is, it's also a very good quality wetherspoons. Just had a mega refurb but beer prices still seem to be the same. Ordered one of the new things on the menu. Shawarma wrap. Wasn't spicy but very tasty. Fish and chips for my friend. We both thoroughly enjoyed our food and left empty plates. Always good value for money. Always quick service and always leave satisfied.

Took an hour for my food to come (a small bowl of chips with halloumi) and when it did arrive the quality was pathetic, will not be returning.

Terrible service. Food was cold after a 45 minute wait. Half of the kids meal never arrived even after we queried it. No apology from any of the staff, they really didn't care. Worst Wetherspoons I've ever been to for food.

Initially after arriving was met by lovely bar staff who was amazing. But then what appeared to be a manager arrived and standing in the middle of the stairs asking about a colleague who had cut their hand the previous day to 2 other staff members. Then when ording a drink at the bar loudly told I wasn't allowed alcohol at that time due to a Policy.... Both these conversations should have been had at a much lower volume no need for the rest of the bar to hear everything

This was very near to our hotel so it was really convenient and we went a few times, one for lunch, one for drinks & footy, one for breakfast. People may knock Spoons but this place does the job and for how cheap it is you certainly can't complain. A place for all occasions and a super convenient pit stop if you need it. Would happily go back again!

Cheap drinks filled with a myriad of varying customer's..

Came here for food and drinks before a gig and had a really bad experience. Firstly, me and my friends sat at the only available table and ordered drinks using the app. We were then told by a server that we couldn't sit there as they were moving the table for the "DJ". I told a manager about the problem and they said I would have to sort it out at the bar. We managed to find a table soon after which was absolutely filthy, and full of rubbish. I understand that the establishment is really busy and has lots of tables, but it took me to ask the staff to clean the table when they should be doing it as soon as the table is cleared. We then ordered food through the app, and my friend went to get some condiments. Shortly after, a server walked past our table and took the ketchup off our table to give to someone else! I honestly couldn't believe what just happened. We were so shocked at what happened and just had to laugh. The food was what you'd expect, but the overall experience was really poor.

Great atmosphere due to scotland fans

Called in with my wife for lunch before getting a train to be perfectly honest, I was a bit worried about eating. Usually Wetherspoons pubs are pretty standard and you know you’ll get okay food however this one has a really grimy feel about the place. It looks like the staff have tried to tidy the place, although nobody has cleaned a table in the past year. The staff were pleasant enough and the food was ok as it turned out. I am still dubious about how clean this places kitchen is so stuck with a sandwich. I suppose it’s not the pubs fault that place is full of scummy people predominantly students but you could clean all the tables. before anyone shouts me down It was a Tuesday at 1 o’clock.

Staff are indifferent to customers. It feels like they see you as a hinderence - not friendly or welcoming at all.

Depends on what you like? A quiet pint or a busy environment. Sometimes it’s packed sometimes it’s fairly quiet.
