Never let's you down do with a makeover

Met up with two of my old work colleagues at The Midland as two of us have mobility issues and it is opposite Central Station in Liverpool City centre which was good for us. What a very good choice. The atmosphere was great with background music just right so you could have a conversation easily. It was a very busy Friday afternoon and along with being spotlessly clean have to say the outstanding feature for us was how very kind all the staff were to us. Brilliant place with very caring staff and good prices too. Well done

What you call a old pub lovely atmosphere.

This is an ok pub tbh. Beer prices are quite reasonable considering its a prime location just across the street directly oposite Liverpool Central Station. It does get very busy though so its hit & miss as to whether you'll get a seat.

Good old fashioned pub. No fancy pancy, no loud music. Very few guests on a Monday night. Central. Low prices.

Fabulous afternoon drink. Great atmosphere, eclectic clientèle

In response to the owner: We attended Monday 25th, a white older gentlemen proceeded to tell us he was the owner and obviously before this had spoken to my friend, where he had made him feel uncomfortable. Apologies if this was not yourself but he was fairly confident he was the owner and came over to me off his own back to talk to us, to basically tell us off for running in, even though we were both sat with a round of drinks. Which I then used this opportunity to tell him he shouldn’t be intimidating his own customers. We came in from the train station which I 100% understand would be annoying running straight to the toilet but my friend (gay) stood by the bar while waiting for me. We then ordered a drink and a cocktail. During this time an older male made my friend feel intimidated and uncomfortable. This male, who told me he was the owner, came over to speak to us once we had our drinks explaining he hates when people run in from the train station- understandable, but we were already sat with a drink so we hadn’t ran in to then just leave. My friend had even confirmed to him previously to say he was waiting on me and we would be getting in a round. When we sat down my friend told me how he had felt uncomfortable and intimidated by this older man while he was stood waiting on his own. He then came over to us while we were sat to explain how he was annoyed which I then used the opportunity to tell him he shouldn’t be intimidating his customers/other people within the pub.

Verbally abused by bar staff waiting for a drink. Won't be going there again in a hurry.

Absolutely would recommend, a local pub with a great staff, welcoming to all. make everyone feel welcome. Brilliant local feeling that makes everyone feel included. Great prices would recommend to both locals and anyone else who happens by.

The woman behind the bar was alright👍 However there was a guy behind the bar (as a customer that was drinking himself) that was the owner of the pub who intimidated me to the point of feeling so uncomfortable and anxious. I had told my best friend about it when she came out of the bathroom and she spoke to him and she thought the same and described him as misogynistic and intimidating. It wasn’t needed when all we wanted was a drink. Everyone in the establishment seems like old (50+) locals that are judgemental and intimidating, and it was a very awkward atmosphere that isn’t for anyone under 40, different genders, different sexuality, different skin colour. Anyone that is considered ‘different’ should not attend this pub AT ALL. Especially the LGBTQ+!!

Never had any food . I went because I met my wife ,on our first date in that pub 40 years ago. I was so astonished, how beautiful she was , I thought I had been tasered . She made me blabber, and cough . She was such a influence on my life .... I've never had an experience like it since .

This is a great old pib with a lot of history and inside is fantastic. The beer is good and the craftmanship inside is iconic. Always call in here if I am in Liverpool. Not to be missed but gets busy at weekends.

Nice pub, friendly staff (so a bit suprised with some of comments) drink fairly cheap. Only negative, those are without a doubt the worst excuse for a toilet that I have ever had the misfortune of entering, it really doesn’t take a lot to sort it out, But it was filthy and disgusting

Great pub to sit off an chill out an have a chat... Decent pint at a very reasonable price. Been they plenty of times, met my mate last time for a quick pint before moving on. 6 pints later still there talking nonsense.

Pub and bar hopping around this part of the city my twin brother and I decided to drop into The Midland Pub ,been here before on many occasions, always had a good time and so it proved on our latest visit. I love the look of this Victorian era pub,interior is superb, etched glass features ,a solid wood serving bar dominates the main room ,pubby decor and furnishings including plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub both inside and when the weather is good outside looking out onto the busy and bustling Ranelagh Street, its a wonderful pub to unwind in. We were here on a cold and rainy January night, pub was packed with a great atmosphere, we ordered beers from Carling Brewery, these were served in excellent condition being iced cold and sparkling and we just kicked back, chilled out and soaked up the great vibe in this busy and popular pub. Not my usual tipple, more a real ale and craft beer fan myself but this lager style beer was quite good,golden, light and hoppy and very tasty, very drinkable indeed. We both really enjoyed our beers in here before we moved on and although our visit was only fleeting as on every other visit to The Midland Pub we had a great time. The Midland Pub is easy to locate along Ranelagh Street, a street and area teeming with pubs, bars and restaurants. Opening hours are; Monday to Sunday, open from midday. Well worth checking out if you're in the area.

Had no ID, but if I’m coming here with my grandad how old do you really think I am lol. I never get ID’d. I’m 26 and certainly don’t look younger than 18. I was visibly older than one of the barmaids. I think it’s a simple case of just use your initiative really, brain, but oh well. The central, globe I’d much recommend

The Midland is a brilliant pub on Ranelagh street and is a popular pub that offer's an excellent range of well priced drinks and is a pub me and my twin brother have visited many times over the years. This superb pub has a magnificent interior with many interesting fixtures and features and great decor and nice furnishing's and throughout the whole pubs interior brilliant seating options. Established in the 1880'this excellent pub is a brilliant place to visit and is alway's lively and when we visited here this pub was very busy. When we visited here we had a few glasses of Carling brewery lagers which where first rate and well priced.This is a superb pub in a superb area and well worth a visit and so easy to find as Central train station is over the road. Came in with some friends and wife’s, the manageress was disrespectful and confrontational. Drank there for nearly 40 years and never had an experience like it. Poor manger and we will never drink there again. Poor lady

Would you believe 3 middle aged women were asked to remove small Christmas hats - not allowed it seems. 10 days before Christmas. Then a guy wearing a santander hat was told to remove it. He and his 5 friends immediately left - good for them. The staff clearly don't like working there, a more miserable bunch you couldn't meet. Dreadful place.

Shocking customer service. Been going to this pub every Christmas for 32 years with family and friends and never had an issue until now. Staff were extremely rude and refused to serve us, ordering us off the premises. Clearly this pub no longer wants the business so very happy to oblige. Zero stars.

Only think good about this pub is the hand dryer, didn’t feel welcome at all

Quite frankly, it doesn’t even deserve 1 star. Customer service non existent, awful attitudes and very aggressive towards placid pub goers. The main lady was a disgrace, what a poor example of customer service. They could have explained their position on serving groups more than 5, however chose to rant and rave instead. Will not be going again. Edit: Your reply is completely false. We were a young group but were causing no harm and had older people with us too. We would have happily presented ID had we been asked for it but instead your manager kicked us out based on our group. I understand you have the right to do this but in my opinion it was unjustified.

Terrible service. Wouldn’t serve as we had a party of more than 5. Instead of letting us know about this rule, proceeded to shout at us and tell us to “get out”. Will not go be going back again. Very bad customer service.

Awful pub, terrible bartenders, wouldn’t serve groups more than 5, all I requested was simple pint of moretti beer and was kicked out because I was with a group of 5+. Terrible pub and the bartenders have awful attitudes. Extremely rude. Won’t be back.

Just tried to get served in this pub at 9.50pm tonight an told by 2 sulky barmaids they'd stopped serving. Others sitting drinking in pub. We are average married couple , just been to the theatre, not troublemakers . We went in The Globe instead, much better welcome. .

This pubs gents toilets are the dirtiest and smelliest in liverpool and would go as far to say the environmental health be called in. Make me wonder what the cellar etc is like taken photos and will forward to health authorities.

Been drinking here over 30 years, fantastic place to escape the mayhem they is in the other pubs and cheap, great windows to people watch if alone.

Visited last night with my partner and family for a few drinks. We prefer these pubs as you dont tend to get trouble which was the case last night very good atmosphere. The bar staff however seemed to ignore us at the bar to favour the older customers who came to the bar after us, staff where making eye contact with us and just ignored the fact we where waiting to be served, left standing at the bar for nearly 10 minutes until my partner said something and we got served. Not all young people out for a drink are trouble makers, I've been here once before and the thing happened then. Its a shame as I say theirs a nice atmosphere.

Was recommended The Midland by other guests in our hotel whilst visiting Liverpool it didn’t disappoint our host Nicky delivered excellent service made our visit to the premises very welcoming she is a credit will be definitely recommend The Midland to any friends who will be visiting the city drink prices were brilliant for being right in the centre of town

Standard city centre pub that has been here for a long time, plenty of atmosphere and appeals to all ages. Great location for meeting up as opposite the central station. Full of its original features that makes it an interesting place to visit.

I called in for a quick pint after a long bus trip from Bournemouth. As a visitor from Australia I was not sure what to expect. The staff where very friendly as where the patrons who where already there. Beer was great and cheap. Highly recommended pub in Liverpool.

Great pint of theakstons mild at 2.80p a pint also carlsberg and tetleys smooth bitter i must say i love a theakstons mild made with old perculiar beer

It's a bit dark inside but it is a lovely traditional pub and very reasonably priced with friendly staff and customers.
