The Merrymaid Inn in Birmingham

Visited Merrymaid for takeaway dinner on 28th July 2024. Have visited several times and also eaten in the premises. The waitress took our order and read it back. Ordered a drink whilst waiting. The man serving, one of the owners sons ,checked the glass before pouring the drink, impressed. Friendly welcome, clean premises and we even sat with the lady owner and her 2 sons and conversed well after our takeaway had arrived. We enjoyed the meal, amazing delicious as always. I would say one of the best in Birmingham. Thank you.

I am so glad we have found the Merrymaid. The owners are great; friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. The food is well spiced, varied and delicious. The mixed grills are the way to go, possibly have a curry to accompany it for some sauce. The chilli and onion nann is great, with the vegetables folding into the dough giving crunch. If you are put off by the rough round the edges side of things, you are crazy. The staff and locals are a delight. Well done all. We will definitely be back.

Food was amazing as always. Great atmosphere, reasonable price. After food can go into the bar for drinks, snooker and music. Owners and staff are friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended.

1st time in a long time I have been to the merry maid. Popped in for a snack and a cheeky beer. Was very happy with the food. Fresh tasty full of flavour and the staff and owners was very friendly an welcoming. Had a very local vibe many regulars ,even had a cheeky game of pool. Defo recommend a visit... We booked a table in the back. You had to go to the bar to buy drinks. Nice fish pakora. Decent curries. When the bill came it was just an amount on a small piece of paper e.g. £78. No itemisation. Place is tired and very basic and not cheap

Had a great indian meal with friends at the Merrymaid Bar and Grill. The food was excellent, especially the sharing platter and saag. I have to say the owners are a delightful and very welcoming couple which added to the evening by making it a special visit for us. The staff equally are at your service throughout the evening. I, now feel that if I have a desire for indian cusine, this is where I will be definitely going again.

We came here on Saturday night after recommendation and wasn't disappointed in any way . We hadn't booked a table and was extremely busy but staff were very welcoming on arriving and found us a table straight away. The food was amazing, generous portions, mixed grills and Peshwari naan were out of this world. Fantastic hospitality from Raj and all his staff, great value for money and proper authentic cuisine. If you know you know. Incredible. All about the food, don’t be discouraged by the area or decor. Meat in the curry was amazing…mixed grills just out of this world. Wow!

Reasonably priced and plenty of food. Lots of meat in the curries which is a rarity nowadays and plenty of paneer in the veg dish. We ended up bringing food home with us it was that filling. Will definitely be returning with the rest of the family.

Food is incredible and cheap! My partner gets the mixed grill and I usually get a vegetarian curry, all of which are amazing (mutter paneer is my favourite). We’ve been going regularly for a good few years now and it’s always consistently tasty.

Found this fab pub & curry house through TripAdvisor.. curry was absolutely stunning ..& very reasonable 2! Owners were a lovely couple ..had this pub 4 over 25 years ..both took time out from serving 2 come over 2 speak 2 us! The locals also made us feel so welcome aswell.. would definitely recommend trying this little gem..u won't be disappointed!

This is the second time I have visited with two friends who have been coming here for years. They always said how good it was. They weren't wrong I almost dont want to review as it's a little treasure I want to keep to myself. However after working in hospitality for over 20 years the maid needs a well deserved shout out. The food is full of flavour fresh and hearty The service is professional yet you get a sense of being part of the family which is lost In most establishments these days. The atmosphere is warm and the prices are great real value for money. Cant reccomend enough Special thank you to all the staff for a great experience great service we will be back

I had a take away from Merry maid and the food was terrible half the mixed grill was burnt….checked the cleanliness of this place and it has only two stars.

We're a family group, ( age range 22-65) who eat out together every Monday. The MM has been on our radar for a while now after positive reviews from friends who've enjoyed their experience there. So we went... From the outside, the place looks familiar to those of us old enough to remember typical inner-city 'backstreet 'pubs. A previous reviewer says the place could do with a refurb. No it couldn't. A refurb into a 'modern' loud, garish gin palace with no character or atmosphere? No thanks. Despite it's age, the place is clean, the toilets are spotless, the furniture is new, but you can still look out onto the Moseley Road through windows that are over a hundred years old. The food? Excellent. A variety of options from the extensive menu were ordered, and met with positive comments from all. As the heading says; this was our first visit, but we will certainly be back again!
