Very disappointing, food was bland… drink had a weird taste - the sunday roast is not worth £22.50!

I visited Al Qamar with a large group of friends. Food was absolutely delicious. 10/10. Waitress was lovely too, mashaAllaah.. would definitely go back again.

Went for the Sunday lunch a few Sundays ago and forgot to review until I saw the photo I took of the food in my camera roll today! From the minute we walked in it felt like such a lovely, homely vibe with a very classy looking aesthetic. The chef greeted us with salaam and made us feel very welcomed. Got the Sunday roast, I went for salmon and the portion size was great and the taste was so lovely Allahuma barik! We also got a complementary soup which was also very good! Deffo plan to go back on a weekday to try some of the weekday menu.

I heard a lot of positive things about this place so I had to try it out. The opening times are a bit unusual but once you go there, you won't be disappointed. The place is well designed, clean and has a warm friendly atmosphere. The owner, Idrees, is hands on and very welcoming and friendly. He certainly made me feel comfortable. We booked a table for 20 and ate everything he had to offer! The meat, kebabs, steaks, rice and drinks were all delicious and full of flavour. The desserts and tea at the end were really nice. The cakes had a home style bake feel to it. Amazing! The waitresses were very friendly and hospitable. If you like Arab style cuisines, then this is a place to try. I'll definitely go back again.

Honestly outstanding! I went with my family for an eid dinner and straight away was led to a table. The restaurant was clean and smelt beautiful. Decor was so homely and comfortable. The head chef clearly loves his job as you can taste the love in the food. Everything was cooked fresh to order and tasted beautiful. We all tasted each others food and everything was equally as beautiful. Full of flavour and fresh tasting meat. Thank you so much. We will be back god willing.

It’s all about the Sunday roast! Have tried a couple of places but this always knocks it out the park. Personal preference is the lamb but the chicken is also lovely. Service is top notch. Always feel welcome. Best to book in advance for the Sunday.

We come every year for a get together at Al-Qamars and it never fails. The hospitality, food, price, atmosphere is amazing. A beautiful kind family owned restaurant and nothing is too much for the staff. We had set menu soup, bread, hummus mains mixed grill rice fries salad and dessert with tea. Everything was superb a very generous portion, all fresh and homemade. Kids meal we had nuggets chips salad again my daughter really enjoyed it and a generous portion too. Would highly recommend.

I have not visited the restaurant so will not comment on the food. However just sharing my experience when trying to book for a family. The owner asked for a deposit (which he didn’t say at all was non refundable). We had a death in the family so we couldn’t make it. I let the owner know with enough notice and as a kind gesture did not ask for the deposit back but to reschedule. Unfortunately we have not been able to go so I asked for refund for my deposit. First he said he won’t give it back. Then said he keeps £25 and I get £25 back. I even suggested put the deposit towards a meal for just my family so he doesn’t have to return it. The owner was extremely rude. Ignored my messages and calls. And finally said he will return the deposit but I should not step near his restaurant. So I chased him several times for this refund. Again got ignored. Then when he finally answered my call today, he said I do whatever I want, send whoever I want. I will not be getting my deposit back. And that’s it. This is really unfair. I didn’t ask for my deposit before when I initially couldn’t make it as I genuinely wanted to go there. However, now knowing what a cheating and lying management this place is, I would never set foot in this place. I am £50 out of pocket and any good restaurant would put customer happiness first. Not this place! You will be pushed to pay a deposit for a booking and be warned it’s non refundable. The owner is very very rude. I found out the hard way. Birmingham is blessed with lots of halal lovely eateries. Customer service and satisfaction go a long way! Be warned!

Great modern building. Amazing fresh to order food could not recommend highly enough will definitely be back the chicken on the bone was a particular standout from a meal that stood.

Restaurant was nearby and was intrigued as to why it only opens certain days in a week. Turns out it was one if not the best tasting rice and chicken I will ever have in the UK. 90% similar to kabsa that you can have in saudi. The owner was polite and generous too! Gave me free salad with ny takeaway meal. Rare find.

We had a Sunday roast 😋 OMG it was so tasty, even the soup tha came out before the main was delicious, nice n cosy lil place hidden treasure for myself ....my only criticism is the service ,I think the girls need to be more on ball with service they give. But overall 100% tasty food

Unsure of opening times and menu anymore as the restaurant is more of a pop up kitchen. Staff are always pleasant. A lovely family owned business. Would be a lovely little restaurant to hire out for a small private party.

The Caribbean dinner was delicious highly recommend, packed full of flavour!

Iv been here once before and loved it. Food was amazing and service was very good. Me and my family decided to go on Father’s Day. We thought it would be really busy but luckily it wasn’t. There were quite a few tables empty. This time, unfortunately the service was much slower, had to ask the waitresses for a menu after waiting 15mins, once ordered the food came and not the drinks. Again had to ask for our drinks which we had ordered first. Then 5 of us could not finish our food as the meat was extremely salty. We tried to mix it in with the potatoes and veg and it was still very salty. We didn’t want to waste and we don’t like to throw food away but we really struggled. We Really didn’t want to make a fuss to spoil it for the family, but infact it did spoil our meal. I explained to the girl who served us whilst trying to eat it, it was really salty, then again to the other lady when I went to pay. She just said she will let the chef know for next time!!! No discount or refund was offered!!! We paid almost £100 for a meal we couldn’t eat and really didn’t enjoy!!!

A hidden gem of a restaurant... I have been desperately searching for better quality halal food that is more than either a curry or a burger in Birmingham and I've finally found it! The venue is beautiful, the food is magnificent, the staff and service was excellent (friendly, attentive and fast!). The flavours were spot on and true to Arabic spices!! The restaurant was used for an event and worked perfectly. We will be back and definitely recommend this place for a great evening meal.

My family and I tried the Sunday roast at this establishment and we were blown away by - 1. The food, absolutely top notch, succulent roast lamb, gravy spot on, succulent chicken and the lot... Brilliantly served. 2. Customer service, very helpful, very friendly, no attitude no issues, just your comfort is their focus. 3. Atmosphere and ambience, absolutely wonderful, very pleasant, music in the background, just right, great for families or couples. 4. Hygiene, super top notch, clean toilets, floors tables taken good care of. I think this place is a bit of a hidden secret, wonderful, wonderful restaurant and I shall be bringing my family for a load more dinners. Well done. Dr Ali

Visited here yesterday for the first time and what a lovely experience ! Definitely a hidden gem, food was delicious and staff were so friendly They definitely went above and beyond to make sure our group left happy. Will definitely be returning :)

Arrived at 1:30 to be told i have to wait until 3:30 for a table which i did not mind as we did not make a booking to be honest we wasn't aware of this in the first place however we didnt mine because it was Christmas its bound to be busy etc. Set menu came with no pricing no drinks options to choose from just a foreign waiter telling you the options could not understand her. Was seated at table which beyond sticky and was told its the table itself thats like that because of the varnish which is a load of rubbish as i am a carpenter for over 10 years that was nothing but a build up of grease and dirt sinking into the pores of the wooden top table i was given extra napkins to place over it and also i Had asked for cake three times in 15mins to 2 different waiters to finally get something and made my wife wait a further 5mins for hers defeats the purpose of eating together above all that a waiter picked up a spoon from our table looking me in the face with out asking to only go give it to another guest on another table which i found very disgusting and unhygienic. I will never step foot into this place again. Rather donate the money to a shelter than ever return nothing but money greedy if you ask me. Worst ever service. Go at your own risk.

What a gem of a find!!. Wonderful and attentive chef and staff who made sure we had everything and more for our family meal. The food was amazing, especially the lamb chops, fresh juices and the Turkish bread. Great hospitality, lovely ambience. The restaurant is perfect size for family meals. We all can't wait to go back. Fabulous time had by all.

Food is delicious. Had the Sunday roast. Service and staff was perfect. For the Sunday roast I got both chicken and meat, but I would recommend meat only. For me the chicken was too dry for me. Price and portion was spot on.

Had my daughters Nikkah celebration here. Could not fault anything! Idris and his cooking, the staff, just wow. Thank you all so very much.

Roasts consist of frozen roast potatoes and vegetables - priced at £11 on the menu but was charged £16. Gravy was really water and full of oil on a plus the lamb and mash were nice.

Came here on recommendation of a friend. And oh boy! This definitely didn't disappoint. On first glance the location has an at home vibe with a cosy interior (a breath of fresh from the more flashy in your face stuff you get elsewhere) and head chef Idris makes that ever more apparent with a wide smile to greet you. The menu is simple and in keeping it this way, I'm sure you can guarantee freshness, fast service and amazing taste (other customers appeared to be enjoying their food too). Nothing complicated or pretentious, just good simple food. I ordered soup of the day to start which was a hot, well seasoned, noodle soup, served with some amazing bread (crunch on the crust and a soft middle). The mains arrived very swfity after the starters. I ordered a mixed grill with rice. I can honestly say one of the best mix grill plates in Birmingham, there were some juicy and tender lamb chops, well seasoned and mouth-watering shish tawuk with some basmati rice and a seasoned salad (refreshing change) with a delectable dressing. A must try if you're in Birmingham and after a quieter spot away from the bustle and hustle.

Food is good. Nice and hot, even the plate is hot. Very considerate. Served with soup and different sauce. They just fit the dishes well. Ordered roast salmon and mix grill. A bit salty for mixed grill but overall food is brilliant. The table is a bit sticky. Not sure it's not clean or anything. However, Sunday menu is limited. Maybe there is chance you can't get what you want.

Came here for a Sunday roast and can say I was VERY impressed. The restaurant is well presented, clean and the staff are really welcoming and friendly. The Sunday menu is a choice of chicken, lamb or salmon - but you can have a mix of chicken and lamb. Starter was a vegan house soup, which was superb, I'd happily had just that with crusty bread (as a bigger portion). The food was very well seasoned and cooked to perfection, with all the trimmings. I'd highly recommend, just be sure to book in advance. Looking forward to trying out the midweek grill next.

Best Sunday roast in Birmingham!

Wow! Came here for a relatives surprise birthday meal and was blown away with the food. Fresh, hot and tasty! We all had the shared grill, which was cooked to perfection. Even the orange glaze on the salad was beautiful. The juices were amazing too - the watermelon juice so refreshing. The waitresses were so polite, and the chef was a beaut! Definitely a little hidden gem. I will be back!

Good decor, attentive staff and a good selection of meat and vegetarian dishes. Great dining experience with really good interaction with the chef and staff who are always willing to cater to your needs. Only thing lacking was a cheesecake option for desert.

So, I rarely write reviews despite dining out quite frequently. However, I have made an exception for Al Qamar because it was that good! I came to try the Sunday roast and it was one of the best Sunday Roasts I ever eaten! The vegetable soup starter was delicious with a nice kick to it. The lamb was so tender and full of flavor, the veg was delicious and flavourful. The restaurant has a lovely warm welcoming ambience and I will definitely be returning without family and friends.

From the moment you walk in, it feels like home. From the glowing atmosphere to the wonderful service, everything was perfect. The food was served super hot and so delicious. 10/10 without doubt!

Family friendly restaurant. Excellent service, great ambience and nice decor. We booked a table for 10 and had the Sunday Chicken/Lamb roast. We were given a delicious tasting soup, followed by a healthy portion of our chosen roast. We all loved it and will be going back. Highly recommended.

Wow! What can I say about this place. From the moment me and my family walked in the owner (Idris) was extremely hospitable, his smile and warm welcoming personality was infectious. For me if the service and hospitality is 5* then that trumps everything else. But, not only was the service class the food was second to none. The platter for 2 was more like a platter for 5. Pieces of meat were so tender, rice was on point and chips were just right. Salad dressing was special 😋. To accompany the meal Br Idris served us his home made fresh Berry juice, it was so refreshing... Managed to sneak in a cheeky dessert as well! Will definitely be going back again. Just gutted that I hadn't known about this eatery before.

Service was appaulling and the mamager ungracious and rude about the poor service that was addressed!! Not a place I would visit again at all!
