Sadly, I have to tell it like it is. Overpriced, cheap decor, little to no atmosphere. Would make a cute date spot, but if you're looking to relax with friends this certainly is not the place. Tables, chairs, ambience all have the essence of cheap; whereas at £12 a cocktail (for the smallest glass ever) you'd expect a little bit more. Servers were nice. Location is good. But, work to do on price & decor!

2 cocktails and 1 beer came to £28 then when handed the machine after I tapped my card I noticed it said £40 so I asked the waiter who apologiesd and said I'd get my refund within 3 days. Just got a refund of £38... no idea what's going on here, but check your bill closely before paying and make sure its correct.

Passing Fancies is a fantastic cocktail bar! The team is exceptionally skilled and friendly, and the drinks are amazing. Highly recommend for a great night out! Have not tried the brunch yet but hope to soon.

My fiancée and I stumbled across this cocktail bar last night. We are always passionate about trying something new and this place definitely didn’t disappoint. The only thing better than the cocktails was the wonderful service from Zidan. He even went above and beyond and created my favourite cocktail, the best, Amaretto sour I’ve ever had..

Cocktails were incredible, we tried everything on the menu (between 4 of us) and there really wasn't a bad cocktail. Adult Ribena was next level and martini was possibly the nicest one Ive ever had.. bravo!

The best bar in Birmingham!! Pretty chill vibes, a good place to social. Pet friendly as well! Their menu is very creative, my favourite one is called Dinosaurs Food ( a rum based cocktail). They change the menu every week or so. I’ve only been here twice, but this place has won my heart!

The bar was quite on a Thursday night but we filled it up and it was soon buzzing. Great service and does what it says on the tin super cocktails.

Honestly, one of the BEST cocktail bars I’ve been to in general. The drinks are perfectly mixed. Not overpriced. Banging stuff. Also, the mixologists/staff are super friendly and welcoming. Shout out to Matt. He’s the main reason we came back for a second time 👌

The best brunch in town for sure, I’ve been many times for delicious cocktails but it was my first time at brunch and I couldn’t help but write how great a time we had. The dishes were all perfect, high end, tasty and great to look at. Every cocktail was perfection as always! Zidan is an absolute star and the service we received from everyone was exceptional, we will be back again! Will recommend to everyone!

Amazing experience - good atmosphere, properly thought out drinks, take the time to walk you through the menu and gauge what you'll like. Personally was recommended the dinosaur food and as a rum drinker, it was one of the NICEST cocktails I've ever had. Would highly recommend, special shout out to Charlie and Ollie who were excellent hosts and made our trip to Birmingham extra special!

This is a truly unique experience with its island style bar. The staff are extremely knowledgeable and friendly. And, crucially, the cocktails are amazing. Highly recommended.

Had a lovely evening here. Cocktails are so so good and is a very lovely place with a very nice atmosphere. However, after leaving the bar we were chased after by 2 members of staff who accused us of not paying, which we obviously had. After a short conversation there had clearly been some form on miscommunication between staff members. Real shame as we were having a lovely evening up until this point. In future I would recommended that the staff are confident in such an accusation before accusing people.

After seeing Passing Fancies getting awarded 3rd place in the UK as the best Cocktail Bar I immediately booked a table for me and my girlfriend. We tried 4 different cocktails all with distinct flavor profiles. My favorite was the Adult Ribena fresh and refreshing definitely a must try. The atmosphere is really cozy especially. My only minor complaint would be the portion sizes of the cocktails. They are a bit small, i can sort of understand that this makes the drinks stronger but personally I would love bigger portions for the cocktails. The staff is lovely and very chatty especially if you sit on the bar. We got served by Zidan a very friendly and funny gentleman. Definitely a must visit in Digbeth’s famous Custard Factory.

Such a magical place, brilliant atmosphere and wonderful staff. I’ve never had such magnificent cocktails or service… straight back in on payday!

Extortionate prices for the smallest cocktails I've ever seen. £11 for the margarita which consisted of a tiny glass and massive square ice cube. The Martini was small but strong. The "gimlet of mulled wine" was a tiny glass of cold fruit juice. Felt we had been had in there. A shame as the vibe and the staff are very nice.

This place is excellent. House martini and Salt n Rye are phenomenal. People are wonderful.

One of the best cocktail places I've been to. We had every single cocktail they had on the menu for that week. The cocktail menu changes every week. Very chill and nice atmosphere, definitely a perfect place for a date night, or if yoy want to meet up with friends over some great cocktails.

Went in for lunchtime cocktails. We had a great time. The drinks and the service were excellent. We enjoyed chatting with our host, Matt, who was passionate, warm and engaging.

Fantastic cocktail bar. Innovative drinks made with the freshest ingredients prepared daily on the premises. These guys love what they do and are happy to talk you through any questions you may have about your drinks. Prepare yourself for the 'Ribena Colada', 'Drunk Custard', and the 'White Velvet'!

Opening times state: Sunday open 2-10pm. Came all the way from Sheffield, then walked 21 minutes out of the city centre only to find it’s closed!! No notice on social media sites that they wouldn’t be open either.

Didnt order anything but used the bathroom it was the nicest bathroom ive ever seen in any place ever. They are burning incense, they have soap AND moisturiser, and instead of paper towels they have real towels. Also the staff were lovely ^-^

This is the best bar iv been to in a very very long time. All of the staff are very kind and attentive, more than happy for a chat even on a Saturday at 11pm. Sitting at the bar is a seat I would recommend. The cocktails were amazing and invented by the people who run the bar which makes it extra special. All the ice cubes are hand cut which adds a touch of class and not only this it's very well priced. Amazing experience we will be back for sure !!

What an amazing chilled place. Although probably older than most people in there we were made very very welcome by all the staff. Attention to detail is second to none. The cocktails were amazing(I tried 3) !! And the food was superb. Tasty and well presented. Shout out to Matt Eve and Aidan and the pigeon And all the team who’s names I didn’t get They all worked extremely hard You must go … you won’t regret it.

All the Staff were friendly and attentive, the food was class and the drinks were top shelf!! The staff even went off menu to showcase what they can do, we drank the whole menu.. Ask for “the Vivian” (not pictured) OUTSTANDING though!

Superb. The best bar in the city. An award winning team serving a small, but perfectly curated menu. If you want off menu, that’s ok, but trust us when we say you’ll want to try their creations. Drinking at the bar is always my preference. The staff are just the most funny, wonderful people and always make you feel like you’re sat around your mate’s kitchen island. It’s a warm and wholesome bar experience like no other. They often do collaborations with indie restaurants too (most recently Tierra Tacos) so keep an eye on their socials for updates on collabs.

Visited this place tonight after being recommended it and it surpassed all expectations in terms of atmosphere, cocktail menu / taste and staff / service. The staff were incredible and really know their stuff! Sadly the kitchen was closed tonight but the food on their Instagram looks amazing. A MUST if you’re in the area! Thanks Aidan and the team!

What an amazing service, the staff are so tentative and know their stuff. When me and my friends were unsure of what to have they gave ud a run down of their menu and even gave us tasters of the alcohol in them to see if we liked it. The best espresdo martini I've had can't wait to come back!

Not my usual drinking spot, this was a quick stop for a cheeky tipple before heading home. Simple and minimal, Passing Fancies offers a delightful menu of interesting cocktails (mocktails are on offer if you only ask). The staff here are pretty chill and friendly, always happy to advise on flavours that might suit you if you’re unsure of where to go with your drink choice. There’s no booming music here, just a chill playlist that lends itself to the nice atmosphere here…that said, it’ll be interesting to see how the space differs during the day…I’ll be back!

Passing Fancies is on its way to become the best bar in the West Midlands. This bar is bringing the elevated Manchester bar scene to Birmingham and doing it flawlessly. They are changing their menu pretty much weekly, also serving off-menu drinks that are spot-on every time and curating a high-end nibbles and appetizers menu. Passing Fancies is going to be one of the major players in Digbeths up-and-coming.

Visited having heard about the cocktails. Bar was nice interior inside however have to say we were disappointed with the drinks. We’re more than happy to pay £10 for a cocktail but these ones didn’t feel worth it, a small drink with a lot of ice that tasted like juice, no garnish plus a service charge added just for drinks. For the price would have expected something better.

A thoroughly awkward experience overall. We stumbled in the place after a competitor was fully booked. Should've read the warning signs when we were touted over by a barman who was friendly, but we later lumped with a service charge for the “pleasure” of this. Next came the sales pitch to get us to be paying customers. The pressure to stay began when they 'graciously' let us sit at a bench not associated with the bar, but we were quickly warned to be careful as the glasses were crystal: making us feel an awkward sense of obligation. We were then told the tale of the bar being the “32nd best cocktail bar in the U.K.”. This cumbersome statistic doesn't do you any favours, so perhaps leave it out next time. Lastly were the toilet lights (or lack of them). They were pitch-black, leading both my husband and I to have to use our phone torches just to see, meaning I even accidentally left my sunglasses inside. When I mentioned this to one of the bar staff, he retorted, “It’s supposed to be dimmed; I guess I can turn it up a bit”. This tone summarised the whole vibe: pretentious and self-serving. If you like feeling like a bar has done you a favour by accepting your custom, then this is your place. If not, give Passing Fancies a pass and go grab that cocktail elsewhere: sugar and all.

Would definitely put this place as one of my top 3 picks in Birmingham. The whole team are amazing, walking into the place is best described as walking into an open plan kitchen. The team are always friendly and helpful on recommendations and preferences. Brilliant! Great drinks, great people, great atmosphere!

Wow, what a bar 🤩 the staff are outstanding and know the menu and what to recommend. Used the independent birmingham card for a discount too.

Popped in after work (I work in the custard factory). Chose the independent Birmingham cocktail of the month which was divine and also sampled an adult Ribena which is so sweet you can drink them all night without realising the strength. Paired these with a few Stella unfiltered (missed this since leaving London). All drinks expertly crafted and such a friendly vibe, I think this may be my new Saturday after work tipple spot. Should be Birminghams #1 bar and I advise all to go and try.

Visited this weekend to celebrate a friend’s birthday. Unique menu of cocktails, good location in Digbeth, very friendly and knowledgable staff who were tentative and gave us free tequila shots. Overall a great experience, will definitely return soon.

Charged a no show fee of £20 after cancelling table because of train strike. Beware the 48 hour no show fee. Doesn’t seem to matter if you cancel table with a genuine reason.

The bar area feels strangely intimate despite the venue being quite spacious and open. The cocktails were all delicious, but the stand-out for me was the melon daiquiri.

Had the most incredible and inviting experience. Connor was an amazing host and made us feel welcome and comfortable while also offering the tastiest drinks and snacks! I can’t wait to be back, and will be recommending Passing Fancies to anyone visiting Birmingham.
