The Mayflower Village in Southampton

Came here today for the first time and were absolutely blown away. The service was second to none. Staff super friendly but not over baring. The lovely gent showed us to our seats dressed in full hamilton-esque clothing and was an absolute delight. I'm also a wheelchair user and was shown immediately where the disabled toilet were incase I needed it, we were given somewhere to store the wheelchair whilst I was seated and they also gave me somewhere to store my walking stick. The food was delicious and the atmosphere as a whole was 10/10. We will most certainly be back. Thank you 😊

Fully fantastic, staff extremely friendly and funny,great food quick service , didn't have a reservation but was instantly seated, wonderful with wheelchair accessibility and food came fast fully recommend to everyone

The food was absolutely fabulous and the service. The waiter was in fabulous costume as we were heading straight to the Mayflower after to see Hamilton. We will definitely be back as we love this place.

Pros: good bar games downstairs. Shuffleboards. Interactive darts. Close to train station. Cons: no cask ale, so having to drink lager. And thats overpriced too. Find the atmosphere a little too sterile for my liking too - but thats personal preference. Good for a party, but not for a couple pints after work etc.

What a wonderful place went for a meal before watching hamilton and my son who is very fussy with eating was catered for and we were treated amazingly the staff and owners were such fun and nothing was to much for them . Owner dressing as george Washington and allowing photos with my son made his day but also came out to talk to him after the show would highly recommend 👌

This place doesn’t know if it wants to be a pub or a restaurant. Wait to be seated, fine. Order drinks from the QR code at the table but have to go to the bar to order food as no table service. Not all drinks available via the QR code so still have to go to the bar for some drinks. Had a chicken flatbread with avocado and lime which sounded delicious but literally got a flatbread that had been smeared with guacamole and cold chicken chucked on top, with a bit of salad. Other small dishes fared better but overall a bit shambolic.

Great first experience here, love how the host was dressed up for the show. Food was very good, and they were super friendly staff. Highly recommend.

Arrived early for a show at the Mayflower so popped in here as right next door......wasn't expecting much to be honest but I was so pleasantly surprised......every element was amazing.......the decor......staff......service......and of course the food......pizzas were delicious.....what a find......I would come back even if wasn't seeing a show and will definitely be my come to place when in Southampton again......Thankyou 😋

Can be busy before shows but you're going to get that due to its location, good food, very friendly, excellent all round, well done team.

We went in for pre theatre drinks and a post theatre meal. It's a lively pub with a mix of locals and theatre goers. The food and drinks are excellent and reasonably priced.

Usually packed close to theatre opening times so seating is at a premium. Always a crush at the bar during this time.

First pub I've ever been to that doesn't have any beer . No ale or bitters, not even bottled, just foreign lager or IPA.

Food was excellent. Have taken off one star as we wanted to order dessert and were told the kitchen had closed.

Good for a quick bite - not the most extensive menu, but reasonably priced and the food was served quickly (some nice Burgers and a Katsu Curry which was on the small side but tasty). Friendly staff

Pleasant enough. Standard pub food, slightly small portions, a little overpriced. Handy to eat there before going to the Mayflower.

Nice friendly staff, Blue Moon with a slice on tap and a fairly spacious venue (that does get crowded too). Was perfect for close pre/post train drinks!

Entré el jueves pasado a eso de las 16: 00 y fue tratado muy ignorantemente por el joven miembro del personal del bar que tenía una actitud hacia mí por alguna razón. Solía disfrutar entrando después del trabajo, pero nunca lo volveré a hacer.

Salieron a tomar una copa y un aperitivo ante el teatro y no se sintieron decepcionados. La comida era buena y lo más importante es que el personal era encantador. El único punto menor era que solo sirven un amargo y estaba apagado en la noche que fuimos.

Really good venue, especially pre-show

Medias medidas. Cuando pregunté nuestro medio vaso de prosecco se ofrecieron a verter en un vaso diferente. Estafado por personal odioso.

We had a flat white and cappuccino from their coffee machine. They were lovely. I ordered at the bar and a lovely lady who served me with a welcoming smile, kindly brought the coffees to our table. The atmosphere was great as there was a party of ladies celebrating something. So the music was all sing-along numbers Neil Diamond Tom Jones The Beatles & Dean Martin etc. The ladies were in fine form singing at the tops of their voices. And this was all before 1pm in the afternoon!

Half measures. When I queried my half glass of prosecco, they offered to pour it in a different glass?!

We went to the Mayflower theatre

A bit disappointing . Coffee in a paper cup. No decaffeinated drinks on offer . Food very average and not particularly appetising .

Went here before pantomime, staff nice and food was good just didn't think wow. Not sure the gravy pizza thing works either but would eat here again.

Fantastic place to have a drink, lovely staff and very welcoming! (Shout out to Steve, Chelsey and Claire!) Still well priced for the city.

We recently had a private event here and I can't thank them enough! Great communication and they couldn't do enough for me, nothing was too much trouble! This is also our local and we feel so welcome there, there's always a great atmosphere and the staff are always good. Special Shout out to Steve and Chelsea who always go above and beyond. We have a 5 year old too and she loves coming there and being made a fuss of and helping clear the empties 😅 We don't have a negative thing to say about this venue

Very busy! Nice looking pub, decent prices

Horses for courses. Food was as you'd expect, prices were reasonable. Service was good. I wasn't blown away but it's convenient for going to the theatre next door. Would I return? Yes. Would I go here for a meal out? No.

Desde llamar por teléfono para hacer la reserva hasta llegar, pedir, ser atendido y dejar la experiencia fue todo 10 / 10. Todo el personal era educado y amable. La comida era increíble y a un precio justo. Reservamos una mesa para 5. 30 ya que íbamos al teatro para un 7. 30 show. Definitivamente recomendaría esto ya que se llena rápido y te perderás la buena comida.

Lovely evening for my work leaving party. Made booking in advance. We were very well looked after. Great food and service. Took advantage of happy hour 2:1 cocktails. Loved the games room. Played shuffleboard, table tennis and darts . It was just perfect Thank you 🤩

My son had his wedding reception here on the 21st of September's, everything was clean tidy, stuff for amazing. Gary was absolutely amazing made sure everything went smoothly. He also made sure my grandson was ok, he's disabilities. Gary and his staff for understanding. 100% recommend the Mayflower Village

Lovely food at a reasonable price. Every member of staff had a smile. Our first time there, will make it regular when we go to the Mayflower Theatre.

Good location for live entertainment

The mayflower villiage has been my haunt for many years as I am an actor performing on musical theatre tours around the country. Everytime i return to the pub the owners are so caring and attentive- as are all of their employees who work there. They have hosted the most amazing evenings for all of our cast and crew in the musicals which play at the Mayflower Theatre next door and I have always felt at home here. This is a unique pub which welcomes people of all different backgrounds, creed, colours and diversities. I have always felt safe in this place and the food is top-notch and fast and efficient service as are the lovely pale ales, and IPAs which I’m accustomed to amongst there plethora or alcohol they offer. If you’re looking for a pre-show meal & drink or just a relaxing Friday night chill or a vibrant Saturday evening with your friends I would look no further and make this a spot on your visit to Southampton as a as local visitor or a alike. We chose to have our wedding reception in the lovely basement bar underneath The Mayflower Village. We had such a fabulous time and are so glad that we chose to celebrate here. The staff were phenomenal. The food was gorgeous and the atmosphere could not have been better. All of our guests had a great time and many complimented the venue. I would definitely hire this space again for an event in the future, and would recommend it to anybody looking for a good venue to celebrate an occasion in Southampton. A big thank you to The Mayflower Village for making our special day perfect, and an extra thank you to Gary for hosting, Chelsea and Claire for organising, and Steven for his slippers, which were very much needed by the end of the night.

Un poco apresurado. Así que llegamos a las 5 pm y nos mostraron a nuestra mesa. Nos dijeron que ordenáramos en el bar. Estábamos bastante sedientos así que decidimos tomar unas copas mientras repasábamos el menú. Dentro de unos 5 minutos el gerente / propietario vino y nos dijo que pidamos comida. Hicimos nuestro pedido y llegó bastante rápido. La comida estaba bien, nada especial. Habíamos pedido compartir trozos y el camarero vino y limpió los platos mientras yo todavía estaba comiendo. Entonces nos sentimos un poco apresurados a irnos. No es el peor lugar en el que he estado, pero hay muchos lugares mejores sobre la carretera para una comida previa al teatro. Probablemente no irá allí de nuevo.

Mi madre y yo visitamos anoche con la esperanza de cenar antes de ir al teatro de al lado. Llegamos a encontrar que solo era capaz de acomodar bebidas, nos quedamos decepcionados, pero decidimos quedarnos a tomar unas copas de todos modos. Me atendió el encantador Kieran (lo siento si se escribió mal) que fue más allá para no solo ayudarnos a conseguir comida cuando estaba lleno, sino que pasó una buena cantidad de tiempo a lo largo de las 3 horas que estuvimos allí llevando sillas afuera para la gente como el pub lleno. Nunca dejó de sonreír. Le estábamos muy agradecidos por nuestros 3 platos pequeños del menú, todos los cuales eran deliciosos y a un precio muy razonable. Fue nuestra primera visita a este pub y sin duda volvería cuando en la zona. Personal muy acogedor con una gran variedad de comida y bebidas a precios excelentes.

Personal opinion, but I don't like the fact they play the music of the artist while your having a drink before you see them live....

Walked into an empty pub, had to wait at the bar for staff to finish up their weekend plans conversation before being able to order my food. Once I got my food I burned myself accepting the boiling hot plate from the server, without a warning, until after burning me. The nachos were very basic, just some meet and nachos with sauce, no peppers, sour cream, or salsa at all. Disappointed by this pub.

Took an age at the bar, 2 x bar staff taking food and drunk orders. Plus a few coffee's. 🤦‍♂️ 15 mins to get a pint. 🤷‍♂️

Had a fantastic meal before going to the theatre

We ate in here before we went to The Mayflower Theatre to see Miriam Margoyles, I had some light bites of chicken pieces and a very nice garlic dip and my boyfriend had a very tasty burger. Service was really good, it was busy but I suppose it always is being right next to the Theatre but we didn't have to wait too long, I guess they are very used to pre theatre food bites. The owners looked very hands on and were checking on their staff which was really nice to see which led to a great atmosphere.

Came for lunch to find out they weren't doing food. Ended up at Subway

The restaurant was very nice and the atmosphere was good however, ordered the gravy burger and was disappointed to find that the burger was gravyless! The smallest amount of gravy. So room for improvement

Steve y Gary eran muy acogedores y ambientaron un ambiente fantástico. Realmente gran lugar para comer, beber y socializar antes o después de un espectáculo. Sin duda vendrá de nuevo!

We visited today 20 th July and I’m in a wheelchair I was greeted warmly and staff was very polite and friendly food was superb and Steve and Kieran were so nice x thanks we will be back x

We hadn’t booked, but got a nice table. The food and service were excellent. I Will certainly recommend to friends.

Perfect pub! We came here as we needed a place to eat before watching SIX the musical and as soon as we walked in we got a homey atmosphere with some outstanding food. Jokes were made here and there from our waiters Steve and Gary witch is something you don’t see enough. The good food names were cracking like “stick a flake in me I’m done”. Food was the perfect amount. I think the waiters made this the best tho. 100% recommend for everyone.

Parked our bikes outside on a visit to the theatre. Got speaking to a lovely gent (possible manager) who was really helpful. Found all the staff friendly and went that extra mile. Although they were busy service was very fast and we waited only seconds to get served. They poured a very good Guinness which went down a treat. The atmosphere was very good helped by the friendliness of the staff. The toilets were down a small flight of stairs but were very clean. Well worth a visit. Next time we're in Southampton we will definitely return and try their food.

We were late in our b&b and just in time for a dinner here. We had a marvellous pizza and stayed all evening here with a few drinks, wifi and the football games! People were friendly and helpful! Very nice and relaxed place to be!!!

Stopped in here for lunch before a show at the theatre. Got a table without a reservation, and was seated immediately, (midday, saturday). All the staff were excellent, and the food was amazing. Pricing seemed reasonable given the area. Would definitely recommend

Booked my family for a meal before going to the theatre for an evening performance. Table was reserved, ready and waiting for us. The food was excellent and some of the dishes have great names 😉👍 they have great staff, and it is very clean & modern. We will return again in the future 🌟

Great location and good atmosphere. Come here frequently for drinks. However, worse experience we've ever had in a pub this evening. Food was subpar for the money paid. I asked to make a complaint and Gary came over. Instantly obstructive and quite frankly rude. Blamed the bosses and company. He went away, then one of the bar staff came over and provided a cash refund. This wasn't discussed, I assumed we were getting food remade. I asked the waiter what was happening and he said he would ask the manager but he might not come back over. We took the refund and waited, no one else came over. Absolutely awful.

Frequent here quite a lot, normally for drinks. Booked dinner before a show. For gastro pub prices, we were shocked by what we received. Portions were shockingly small and the food was bland. However, the manager was appalling. I asked to complain at the bar about the food and they said they would send the manager over. He came over and his introduction was, 'they said you wanted to speak to me'. I stated I wanted to complain about the food, explaining that the portions were very small. For example, an £8 calamari starter with 8 small pieces. Gary the manager abruptly explained that's the portion size. After back and forth I pointed out that I didn't understand why he was being rude. In the end he sighed and asked what I wanted, I did ask that I wasn't sure, what can he do? In the end he took away two starters and a main and we patiently waited for them to be remade. Later one of the bar staff came over with cash for a refund. I explained I didn't realise we were receiving a refund, he just took the plates away? When asked if I could speak to the manager as the bar staff wasn't sure what was going on they replied he probably won't come back out. Safe to say, we didn't see him again and left after our drinks. It appeared the manager had no customer service experience and should not be in hospitality.

I booked a table for pre theatre food and drinks for a group of 10. The hosts were amazing and very helpful. The food was really good. I had a burger which was delicious and we had a great time before we went to see Wicked next door. I will definitely come back again next time we are down for a show!

Came in here before seeing Wicked last Thursday. The owner is hilarious, always nice to me and my friends who is in a wheelchair. Only thing that lets it down is it a bit pricey.

i came to the mayflower village before we attended a show at the mayflower theatre, i have to absolutely commend all your staff who were working, especially Steve and chelsea, nothing was too much trouble for them, helping out with little things that i asked and even things I didn’t, you should be very proud to have these people on your team, as they are an absolute credit to your workforce, will definitely be telling everyone, and will certainly be back

Nice pub right next to the theatre. OK prices, food was decent. Lots of drink choices. Gets you in the mood for your theatre trip.

Although didn't look overly busy, was made to feel unwelcome until we said we just wanted drinks

Had our football end of season do here, we hired out the basement and it was great. Food was excellent and the staff couldn't help enough. Cassius was our bartender for the evening and was so helpful. Will recommend the Mayflower village to everyone I know.

I love this pub! Came down whilst waiting to go into Bonnie and Clyde and was immediately greeted by the most amazing man! The food is incredible and the location next to the theatre is very ideal! I am going to return every time I see a show! EVERY time!

Beautiful place, excellent for customers who are dye to watch a show in the Mayflower Theatre as it is only next door! Staff dress up for The Rocky Horror Pictures Show which created such a fun atmosphere!!
