The Bedford in Southampton

Popped in at it's quietest time, had amazing service from the barstaff, they were receptive chatty and looked after us. The food here is good prices and fast to be brought out! All was just as it should be on the food front. Few pool tables and a lot of TVs for sports. I'd like to see it on a busy night!

Total disgrace. The smell in the place is terrible. It really needs a makeover. Service was as grumpy despite being partially empty for a Monday. No welcoming or attentive behaviour! Then to top it off the mens bathroom had a huge puddle of water at the entrance. I suspect it was a leak but the small was awful. I would avoid this place as we were going to eat however if the front of house is this dirty I would only imagine what the kitchen looks like. Sorry but one star is the best for now

One of the ”security” guys is extremely rude to costumers for no good reason. If you go here during weekend you’ll spot this guy right away, just avoid him as he may come at you without provocation.

Stopped for a quick drink on Monday night. Bar staff were lovely. Calm atmosphere. Had a bottle, came with chilled glass. Would visit again if in the area

The tables were dirty and the staff were rude and lazy, they just stood at the bar talking to each other the whole time we were there. Bad treatment unclean place. Ended up with us leaving without eating or drinking

Lovely lovely bar staff and good atmosphere but the ladies toilets was absolutely covered in black mould. Every surface. Covered in thick black mould. I left the loo with an instant headache from the smell. It’s definitely not healthy and I feel for the bar staff spending 8hrs a day and having to use the toilet, probably really bad for them

Katie should be made management if not already! We had bottomless brunch for 6 on evidently a very difficult, stressful day but she was brilliant, her service was perfect considering it appeared she was trying to organise everything! We did have a meal missing but this was not her fault as the chef was sick, but they informed us via phone call early in the morning. Was a lovely brunch with lovely cocktails despite the issues :)

I’m been a regular visitor of the Bedfords over the year but the last two visits have driven me to leave a one star review. £8 a pint! For beers that are not high in alcohol or rare, just making money. I’m done with this venue.

An excellent experience all round

Casey, Alex and Charlie were fantastic. Very helpful and friendly. They have made our afternoon great. Really recommend their service.

For future reference on Super Saturday of the Six Nations, or any other day: - Have ice behind the bar - Have the table that was booked weeks in advance ready at the time requested - Have the remote control on hand to put on the game that many people had booked tables for - Have clean glasses to serve drinks in - Have more beers available than not available on draught - Have a working light in the gents toilet, and not rely on people to turn on the torch on their phone. Female toilets were also disgusting I have been told. - Have the amount of staff to deal with the public - Please do not have your staff collect and break glasses over our coats - Please do not serve drinks in broken glasses That is a brief summary in our four hours in the Bedford.

Recently did a bottomless brunch, booked in for a Saturday during football madness so we were a bit skeptical as a large group, but it did not disappoint!! We were seen to by a lovely young lady called Skye who constantly made sure we were looked after. Our drinks were never empty and she was super helpful and understanding of our dietary requirements! She did an absolutely fab job in an incredibly busy pub with 8 very thirsty guests, cannot recommend enough!! Their new bottomless menu is super yummy too!

It was very quiet when we got here for bottomless brunch, as we got here for 12pm on a friday when they opened, but all this meant is that molly had even more time to spend making sure our drinks were full. Any time we started to get close to finishing our drinks molly was already there getting our next drink ready. I read the reviews before booking and I was worried that the good reviews were bought, but this is not the case. The service was brilliant and it was great value for money.

We are sitting in here with friends watching the Rugby. Well, to say disappointed is an understatement. Paid 10.60 for 2 pints (1 x lager and 1 x Guinness) earlier. Fair!! City centre pub and all that. Then went to buy 3 pints and it was 19.65!!!!!!!!! The lovely bar man said “oh yeah the craft beer is more expensive”. I said £9 quid for the craft beer. He said oh no “we put the prices up on a Saturday afternoon”. Avoid!!!! Such a shame as we have always loved the atmosphere in here when the sport is on. Won’t be coming back! Be careful.

I am absolutely blown away. We’ve been here since lunchtime and then all of a sudden the price of the round went up!? On asking what was happening, we were told that they add £1 to the price of a pint at certain times when they are busy!!! I have never seen this before in my life and am utterly disgusted with this underhanded practice. Despite the nice staff, atmosphere and locality, I will never be coming here again. Shocking!!!

Been to the Bedford a couple of times now for after work drinks and can honestly say I love it in there! Great deals and fantastic bar staff shout out to Skye who served me last time was very attentive and the nicest drinks :) will be back

The SpeedQuizzing quiz night was great fun! The specialist week this week was Harry Potter, which certainly tested our brains!

Quiz night was great and bar service between rounds was quick, easy and pain free. Highly recommended night out!

Decent place to have a cheap drink

Half their menu was out of stock but they made substitutions for no extra cost. Men's toilet cubicle seat was a little soggy. Quite a noisy selection of patrons.

Just got back from a bottomless brunch with friends and was very very impressed! We have done several bottomless brunches in town and this has definitely been one of my favourites! The brunch meal (I had buttermilk chicken burger) was a good size (unlike many others we have had) and the staff were very attentive and took next order before each drink was finished. The staff were fab and very helpful (especially Alex and Mitch!). Definitely will be visiting again as it was by far the best value Bottomless brunch I have had in Southampton 😁.

Drinks served in dirty glasses (later found out this was the manager who served them). Had to complain about missing items on our food order multiple times. Not treated with same service as other guests.

Went for Wing Wednesdays, paid on the app. Waited 20 mins while everyone around us were getting their food before going up to the bar and enquiring. Was told it would take 10 mins for food to come out as the order didn’t come through (I had screenshot to prove order was made). Food took a further 20 mins to come out and one of the fish was unavailable. Got refund for unavailable dish (has not been received as of yet). Had to ask 2 different staff members to get the sauces that are supposed to come with one of the dishes. Parts of the third and finish dish ordered were not provided and was just covered in “seasoning” (lots of salt) and not particularly edible. The wine was nice. The beer had bits in it, like the line wasn’t cleaned properly. Overall - a very bad experience. Star is for wine and refund (that I’m still waiting on).
