Another Costa take looks like it hasn't been updated since the 1980's. Drab interior and compared to the food you get in Café Nero, Starbucks, Pret or any of the independents it's just pretty bland. The coffee is neither good or bad but I really don't know how Costa is still going.

The building is small and customers are a little on top of each other, which I don't like at all, especially when they are constantly coughing without coughing into their arm, or a tissue but openly all over the area they are occupying. When we arrived we had to walk in through a smell of cigarettes from people on tables just outside the entrance. The staff were all absolutely fabulous, helpful, friendly, knowledgeable, unfortunately the toilets were not great, the accessible toilet had what I would like to think was water all over the floor, there is a table literally outside the toilet door, where people are sat eating and drinking, which is a hygiene nightmare, and the smell from the toilets is a very musty, damp, old building kind of smell alongside obvious toilet kind of smells, not ideal at all, and I believe there should not be a table right outside the door. The staff were great 5/5, the building 3/5 for accessibility, the toilets 2/5 for accessibility, 0/5 for cleanliness & if I could give -5 for having a table right outside the door, literally opposite the toilet itself, should be moved immediately.

Stopped in here which l rarely do to kill time before an appointment. Lovely chap serving. Nice hot chocolate.

There is not a single member of staff here that isn't helpful or cheerful. Best Costa in Southampton by a long chalk.

I believe there to be a VERY HIGH risk of Hampshire Police fabricating evidence. As explained before, my phone has not been in my possession as I left it with St. James food bank to charge. When I collected it at 3pm, the phone was on. My battery was at 87% so I turned it off to see if it automatically turns back on at 100%, and it doesn't.

Great Costa busy at times but staff work quickly to serve customers whilst being friendly and helpful. Good manager clean store

Decent coffee , nice place to chill

Went in with my assistance dog and wasn’t challenged at all, the woman asked then accepted she was a working assistance dog and left us be.

The best flat white and chai latte I ever had, the staff is very good and makes us feel welcome. New brunette supervisor works very well. It was a really nice experience to be there.

The soya latte I asked for tasted suspiciously like coconut and the breakfast sandwich was still cold after it was heated

I asked for a croissant and a coffee latte, my review is about the croissant, it was the day before. Other coffee shops through the old products and the next day sell the proper/fresh ones. If Costa wants to earn money this is the way.

Me and my mum always go to this Costa they serve nice drinks and lovely food and they always have a smile on their face when serving you especially leanne she always chats to me and my mum makes you feel very welcome she's lovely.

What a lovely clean, tidy Costa - and a very friendly team, especially a young man with gingery blonde short hair serving. He gave me a genuinely warm welcome and went above and beyond - even in a quiet moment going around checking everything was ok with customers. It's rare to find such attentive customer service these days. Well done!

Nice coffee ☕️ very business like....

Really friendly, polite and as a disabled person helpful and understanding, unfortunately for me and my wallet as the people that work there are so nice I have become a regular! With a new manager sometimes the level of service can drop, but what can I say, still getting excellent service. They even know what my regular order is, so sometimes they are getting my order ready before I get to the till.

The staff like to hand out free drinks and heavily reduced drinks but charge everyone else extortionate prices. Me and my sister prefer Starbucks anyway

Came into this Costa with my partner. The staff where incredibly rude. We had our drinks slammed down and not spoken to very unprofessional. They also tried looking over my partners shoulder to see what he was doing on his phone. I wouldn't recommend this Costa to anyone!!

Had a lovely coffee(Flat white) Service good.The problem I had today was the very loud music coming from the store.First time I have experienced this in Costa and it ruins my coffees drinking experience. Why the loud music Costa? Is it's purpose to drive you out of the store ASAP?

Situated in the busy Shirley High Street, this coffee shop was a welcome place to get great quality coffee. The servers were friendly and efficient and we exchanged pleasantries over my order. Everything was as expected from well-known national chain of coffee shops.

Way too expensive but that wasn't the problem there were no seats. And when some opened up they didn't clean them also it took 10 minutes to cook a toasties and get a drink

We stopped here for cups of coffee to take with us and noted that it is similar to their stores that we se all over Europe.

Good place to get a hot 🔥 drink

A good place to meet friends and even work. The staff are efficient and you don't have to wait too long. The drinks are good quality and there are cakes and snacks. You can chat easily as it's not too noisy. I like this Costa. Tip there are one or two quieter tables for working towards the back but they are near the toilets. I've got an hour's work done here before as the wifi is usually pretty good.

I walked into Costa today for a much needed drink and snack. They were very busy so I decided to join the queue with my tiny little teacup dog in my arms. She's so well behaved and no bother, when it was almost my turn the assistant made a point of telling me NO DOGS and looked at me like I had a weapon on me!! I'm disgusted, too many inconsistencies within different branches of Costa. No signage on the doors either. I was on my own and there was NO WAY I was leaving my little girl outside on her own! Considering 1 in 4 of us own a dog in the UK, these companies need to think about relaxing their policies on dogs or at least have a blanket ban so it's clear. So come on Costa, shape up

I took my Girls to Shirley High Street Costa coffee the lady at the counter was very rude not a small at all just throwing up the hot chocolates To you like it was free fro. Her! When I paid £10 and she changed £1.50 extra for cream There was 15 minutes more to close the shop but as we sat down she rudely ask us to leave So disappointed as though we could relax a bit but not worth at all just spent money will never go there again so so rude lady don't think she should be doing customer service at all!

Didn't actually go in. Walked past on my way to CEX but Google seems to be tracking me and messed up on this occasion. I have nothing against Costa, I'm sure they serve lovely beverages. But I didn't go in so don't base your visit on my review because its pointless. Cheers.

The staff looked rather unhappy and miserable despite it being a quiet Sunday afternoon. That reflected in the way they took the order, served it and indeed affected the consistent quality that we expect from Costa. There are many lovely local cafés around here and I don't think this branch will be making my coffee ever again.

Coffee good food good would not have chosen location!

I went there yesterday with my two kids and my childminder. We usually ordering always mini cups.As that’s more than enough for as . But yesterday there was a pakistani lady I think she kept saying we cannot sit in with take away cups we have to leave. I try to explain to her we are always been ordering minis and never had any trouble and if u are offering minis I think the customers need to have choose still to sit I. Or go away . What about people which are ordering only in take away cups ? Do the customers does not have not choose on this Costa in Shirley high street .It’s terrible customer service and there is one blond lady which always is speaks something behind . The only lovely lady is the youngest one . I use to love Costa but thinking will never return in Shirley one !

The older lady who Is serving with the white short hair is completely rude, I was taking a picture of the food to remind me the ingredients which was going to take 2 seconds, looked up she rolled her eyes Infront of me, then waiting for my food and drink she was taking the mic out of other customers when they were talking. If she doesn't like customer service why is she at the job where it is all about the customers.

I never seeing this at all . I went to costa coffee in Shirley Southampton, I ordered green tea and guess what they did. The put water in treatment pot and put tea bag on the tray 🤔🤔. So by time to prepare this for me I took the tray and put on table and I was shocked a tea bag separated from tea pot I thought it's an extra one just in case if I want my tea strong. I open tea pot and only water on it . Okay this is new to me I don't know about you. So I put tea bag in tea pot I waited and I waited and that tea bag just released a little colour in the water because the water wasn't hot enough at all. Is this way to serve tea new because of COVID-19? I don't think so .just people are became lazy to do their job properly. Shame on you costa

Sat down at a table for two as my son ordered the coffee was then told by a waitress that i had to queue up as there were quite a few empty tables i didn't see the point of two people queuing for an order this is my locsl costa never had this problem before ,i had a rather tiring day and just needed to sit down, the waitress a middle aged blond haired person was quite rude so we left needless to say my family and i will not be returning to the shirley high street branch in Southampton again again .

On my way to Solent Sky Museum and I was impressed by the write ups on this Costa branch, Decoration is a bit lighter than the dull wooden Costas in Sussex. Happy friendly young team and amazing breakfast and lunch deals not seen in West Sussex or this edge of Hants YET! I opted for a triple sandwich cheese onion, chicken & stuffing and ham salad with a flat white for £5. It would cost just under £8 in Emsworth- why? Only downside unisex loo was clean but no materials available to clean down surfaces after use. Tables and queue sensibly marked and distanced though.

Not a pleasant branch. Smelt of urine as soon as you walked through the door and the staff were abrupt and unhelpful.

Coffee server man was obviously slow in the head. Took ages, didn't understand instructions properly and was just rude along with his colleague. The latte didn't taste like it was well done either. Wont be going here again.

Visit this Costa regularily and always get good service.The staff remember what we drink and it is always clean. Only criticism is temperature,it is always cold winter and summer so need to keep coat on.
