I came here to meet up with my friends. I was a bit early. As it was pouring down with rain ☔😞 I asked if I could wait indoors. I was told that it was ok. The staff, service and drinks were great. When I lived in Southampton six years ago this place was my friends and I meet up place. It was great then and I am happy six years later it continues to be.

The staff was not professional, touching the hai all the time ,the tables was not clean.

Best food and coffee in Shirley.Much cleaner now than it was,but it has been taken over by a group who sit there for hours and interfere with everyone else’s conversations,fuss over their children and dogs.We have spoken to other customers who feel uncomfortable with their behaviour.

Staff are great. Coffee is way better than costa or starbucks. My go to coffee shop now

The new manager Midge is great and all the staff are friendly and helpful

We were very pleased that well behaved dogs are welcome. We love their cakes, and the fruit tea is lovely.

Worked from here whilst I was having my car fixed, really nice mocha and calm atmosphere

Ordered a large Americano it was £2.90 not bad priced considering how things are costing more. Also went for a lotus biscoff cheesecake which was just under £4 slightly expensive but ample for an early morning treat. The service was very good and friendly. The WiFi connection was ok not the strongest.

It’s really unclean and dirty inside. The glass inside and out is appalling you can barely see out which is a shame if you want to sit by the window and watch the world go by. Toilets smell awful. 3 members of staff behind the counter not paying attention to anything other than there conversation between themselves

Only problem is you have to go online to see if the food contains, wheat, gluten or dairy. Staff seem relaxed and friendly

We use this cafe regularly as food,cakes etc best in Shirley but it is getting very scruffy.The entrance mat hasn’t been cleaned since it opened and today the toilet was awful.There was no hand towels or soap the floor was swimming in water,the bin overflowing,a drip under the the sink and to top it all a toilet brush on th floor covered in used paper.If I was a new customer I wouldn’t return.

I visited with a friend who is c Celiac, we qued for 5 mins ,and when she reached the top of the que she asked the member of staff which cakes were gluten free?He refused to tell her and directed her to the website. This meant that she then had to go away and scroll through the options, and qué up again, instead she gave up.Why can't you label the food?

I walked in, while waiting for a friend to arrive I was looking around. Absolutely filthy place, animal fur everywhere. I didn't even bother to order anything, I met my friend somewhere else!

Badic Coffee#1, usually standard, not great, not bad. You know what to expect.

Recently, I've been coming in a lot due to working so close. The friendly and lovely staff have learned my coffee order! There's nothing so nice as knowing I can walk in, pass the time of day, and feel confident I'll enjoy my coffee. :)

Super friendly staff, great welcome, and lovely, chatty atmosphere inside. Plenty of customers; but also very patient while I fiddled with the app. Photo shows that we had a treat!

This was our first visit to Coffee#1 in Shirley. We had a lovely welcome from Rachel, one of the baristas. Her manner with customers made my day. The café has a pleasant atmosphere and there is plenty of room to get around - ideal for people using mobility vehicles or wheelchairs. We were visiting Shirley as our car was in a local garage for its Service and MOT, so we did stay a long time. The coffee and hot chocolate were both delicious and our gluten free cappuccino cake was lovely. Highly recommended.

This coffee shop strikes me as a place where the management genuinely cares about the running and great attitude towards customers. Businesses like these deserve to thrive. Decent coffee 2

23rd Jan 2024: I enjoyed my latest visit, which was as it should be, but I will never forget that snake. PREVIOUSLY: I couldn't believe that this coffee shop thought it acceptable to allow a Boa Constrictor into the premises, with it's owner/handler of course. Besides the obvious question about environmental health, not everybody likes snakes. It was presented as cold and cuddly, not much different to any other pet, but everybody seemed to have forgotten the very important lesson "Never trust a snake". I'm reluctant to come here again, after this experience. ORIGINALLY: I really enjoyed this coffee shop experience and I don't frequent them very often. Nice ambience, not overpowered by coffee aroma, food good and prices reasonable too. Much better than some of the local competitors, including Costa. My personal favourite, in this area.

Coffee #1 is a friendly coffee shop offering a range of hot and cold beverages to suit different tastes and needs. They also serve delicious, fresh food including sandwiches and cakes and are known for their giant teacakes. A variety of different sized tables means they can accommodate individuals as well as larger groups and is an ideal place to meet up with friends. Staff are always friendly and will help in any way they can.

Love love love. Great food. Friendly caring staff. Cosy atmosphere. I go here at least once a week. My favorite place to chill and chat

Great coffee, delicious cakes, lots of options, friendly staff but disgustingly dirty tables/chairs/floors. Don't think it had been cleaned for over a year. Layers of grime and stickiness and the amount of dog hair made me gag. Will not return just for this reason. Shame as food/coffe/staff all fabulous 👌

Went in on Wednesday 9th for a lovely cup of coffee, it was still early in the morning so there was only 2 customers in the place. The barista behind the counter was leaning over her laptop with her back to us bit she saw come in with a side look but did not acknowledge us at all. She kept working on ger laptop and then the company phone rang...she looked at it and then hung up on the caller and went straight back into the laptop. I stood there for another 30 seconds and deceided to leave. Shocking, shocking way to run a coffee shop.

This is a wonderful cafe to relax in with good food and good coffee. The manager there (Rachel) is very customer focused and she remembers me and my order whenever I come in. Pictured is a drink that isn’t supposed to exist - an iced cappuccino which she makes for me because I asked for it (off menu). Coffee #1 generally makes the best coffee from the chain coffee brands, I usually pick the seasonal variety.

Love the place! The staff is friendly and caring. I go there everytime I can with my daughter to have breakfast. One of the few places where I can have, as Italian, coffee and croissant!

Love everything about this coffee shop except when we can't get a table. It's clean and inviting and the staff are ALL lovely, very polite and welcoming especially Zoe and Sharon who, always has a smile on her face and takes the time for a quick conversation while she is working of course.

Just a really great coffee shop, staff friendly loads of room good decor cake and coffee excellent, my first time but will definitely go again.

Nice place. Busy but not too crowded.

The cafe itself is fine but there is 1 member of staff bullying her colleagues. She isn't wearing a name badge but she has brown hair with a long blonde straight ponytail, and a ring in her helix, and some tattoos including one behind her ear. She has shouted at her staff since we have been here, the cafe is busy but she is publicly humiliating them and it is not an appropriate way to train staff. Particularly she is bullying a lady with short blonde hair on the till. I would not tolerate being treated like that and she should be pulled up on her awful attitude and not permitted to train people.

Lovely coffee and super lovely smily staff all enjoying their work and banter as they did so with each other and the customers. Sat watching the female ‘David Brent’ manager dishing out the orders amused me for the twenty or so minutes spent there! 😂

This Coffee #1 location has gone downhill. Surly staff, disabled toilet out of action due to broken lock and partial blockage and cafe generally looking tired and in need redecoration and entrance mat in need of replacement.

They serve good coffee, I also had a smoothie. On the day they had to serve everything I take away cups and the lady was just politely reminding people which was very nice as she didn't expect everyone to read the note.

This was my 1st visit and found it quite noisy. I didn't eat so can't comment on the food. I got 2 cups of tea from my teapot but found it not very hot.

Great place to have a drink, study, etc only grudge is the closing times, closes too early and the coffee is great here

Such a lovely and funny and genuine lady Rachel is here, with a funny senseofhumourtoo. Always nice to see her when popping into here for a coffee at the same time.

I was impressed by the food and drinks choice, the staff seemed very stressed. I joined the queue of about 5 customers at 10am and didn’t get served at the front of the queue until 10:30am. Waiting 30 minutes to get served. The staff seemed friendly, but I was disappointed I’d wasted half of my visit to coffee1 waiting in the queue. There was 2 people working on shift, so I’m unsure why it took this long to get served.

What type of coffee shop opens at 9 am ridiculous. No wonder people go starbucks or Costa.

I’m a regular customer, but good grief has this place gone downhill. Never enough staff (staff retention is dreadful, seriously needs looking at), forever serving in takeaway cups even when drinking in. Poor coffee skills also drag the place down. It’s such a pity, as it’s comfortable, welcoming haven in the hell hole that is Shirley, but this really needs grasping and sorting out. What are the area managers doing? Clearly not aware of what is going on.

My tea was as week as dish water, if you put milk in with hot water the tea will never be able to brew. It's a coffee shop not a tea room, basic error. My first time there, I afraid I will not be going back. The cake was nice, made with dark chocolate, not necessarily suitable for a child's taste. The staff were rushed off their feet.

Love it in here , nothing more better than a cup of coffee and read a good book and put headphones on and listen to music

A lovely coffee shop, I love the decor, the way it's set up, and the atmosphere it creates. The staff are really friendly and make great coffee. I do find the food too expensive though, especially as it's pre-packaged. On my last visit, I had a toasted ham & cheese sandwich, which seemed to be made with small slices of thin bread, had one slice of ham, and a small amount of grated cheese on the outside, yet cost £4.55! I know they, like most, have to recoup losses from covid, but it's just too much for a basic & small sandwich.

Absolutely perfect service every time. Manageress is one of the nicest people I've ever seen working in the high street. It doesn't matter how busy she gets there is always a smile floating around behind the coffee stations. Why go anywhere else?

We visit quite regularly as it’s a great place to meet friends. It’s warm, comfortable and welcoming. I like the coffee and husband likes the cakes and bacon butties.

I like coffee no1 chain and this is by far the best store. Friendly and fab customer service! Always pop in for a hot apple juice and they do the best festive combos with oat milk yay :)

I traveled back from holiday all the way from Harwich pass 5 Starbucks and 4 costa and a few other coffee places just to buy a coffee here! My family and I are moving to Holland and will miss this wonderful place we hope one day coffee#1 will open one there! The atmosphere as you walk in, the staff know the coffee you regularly order and remember you. Try the caramel macchiato with the house coffee and an extra shot of expresso! It’s out of this world! Staff always cheerful and the manager is awesome.

Great coffee and cakes, what more can you say

Coffee#1 a noisy low seated coffee house who in my opinion are only playing at the game of coffee houses. They could easily become upmarket with just a few improvements not least the disabled toilet facilities. Their extra large teacakes are too big for delicate eating and their cakes and pastries are often dry, burnt or stale.

I love this coffee shop and everyone who works there is great, but I honestly think that Rachel is an inspiration for anyone who works in customer service. Her attitude, skill and kindness are incredible, and any time I've been served by her she's been amazing. She is a real credit to the store and I hope her bosses understand how lucky they are to have her!

I really enjoyed the coffee I got from coffee #1. I wished I would have gotten the lady's name but I believe she was blonde, she said she was veggie, and she had a great attitude. She was very knowledgeable about the vegan options that they had in the store and that is important to me since, my whole family and I are vegan. We were only in town for a few days so I did go on Saturday morning (10sept2022) and Sunday morning (11sept2022). Unfortunately, my second visit wasn't as good as my first experience but I still wanted to give this place a 5 star. First day 5 star hands down, second day maybe a 3 star. Sunday, the staff really didn't seem to know their vegan options and made me feel like my order was super difficult, but at the end of it all, my coffee was still good, just not great, like the previous day.

Thank goodness it survived the lockdowns having only been open a few months. Always been a very relaxing place to spend an hour or so with friends. Extended out front with a covered patio area, great for this heat. Have expanded their menu and grown from strength to strength from opening. Must visit.

Really great service and the coffee is delicious

I came to this coffee shop with my dad on Friday day time just before lunch time and it was pretty quiet. We got served straight away, and the drinks were ideal. I had a caramel Frappe and my dad had a cappuccino. Didn’t have any thing to eat but the cake selection looked lovely. Sat outside, got a seat easily enough. Only issue is wobbly tables
