The Master Chippy Chinese take away &fish &chip in Fareham

This our local and we never need to travel further away. There's lots of choice and it always tastes good. Prices are reasonable. I put three stars for atmosphere as you can't eat in as its takeaway only and i cant get anymore excited about sitting and waiting for my food!!!

I bought pie and chips here but the pie was disgusting it must have been reheated so many times it's base was like concrete and service was slow.

Friendly professional but still in tht old "chippy" style we like.

First time for just me middle of September 2024 fish chips and mushy peas - loads of food (will do me for 2 days (mushy peas were cold though 😢

Place was ok, place didn't look very clean and the customer service could have been with a smile.

Two visits on the bounce now and the food had been tasteless or the wrong order. I’ll find another takeaway.

Ordered steak & kidney pie with a cone of chips. Good quality food and hot. Ate in. Reasonably priced.

We ordered via delivery but the jumbo battered sausage was missing. We called straight away and were told it WAS packed! (unfortunately it jumped out on the way to us obviously as it was not there!) there was no apology, we were made out to be liars but were offered one with our next ordered….that doesn’t help the person with half a meal!

Didn’t review until I’d tried both the Chinese food and the Fish & Chips and they’re both great. The owners are very friendly, the food prepared fresh and very quickly too. 5 Stars!!

Popped in here for lunch. The best sausage in batter & chips . I've had gof a long time. Highly recommended 👌

Not a bad chippy, had a battered sausage, chips and curry sauce. The curry sauce was pretty good, but when asked if I wanted salt and vinegar I said yes unbeknown to me my heart probably wouldn’t have agreed!! There was enough salt on the chips to sink a battle ship! Now I like salt but that was unbearable and I definitely would agree to that again! If it wasn’t for the salt, the food was actually pretty good. Might visit again if I was in the area, minimum spend of £10 on card is also a downside.

A takeout located at the top of the A32 from Gosport not far from the centre of Fareham. Typical chip shop range and also offers Chinese menu. Service is good. Speed of the service is good - never waited long to be served or for the order to be prepared. Menu range is good. Never had a bad meal. There are some chairs to sit and wait. There is a step to get in and out of the store, which might be difficult for some. You can park outside if there is space in the side parking off the A32.

Was a struggle to order over phone had to repeat myself 4 times.. spent over £40 for family dinner and we all left most! Fish and chips were greasy and the batter was so thick with barely any fish!chicken Burger OK but the 1/4 duck and pancakes were revolting no meat whatsoever just skin,bone & fat covered in oil! Won't be returning!

I have always placed (no pun intended) a telephone order and collected. I always rang ahead in advance so the food is ready when I get there, yet I still have to sit and wait when I arrive. The food is ready in the timescale they tell me it is but then because there is a queue of people waiting to place new orders you have to wait 20 minutes longer than necessary and watch your food being kept warm it the cabinet until its your turn in the queue.

I had noticed how busy the store was last Friday. So, yesterday I purchased a pork curry and pancake roll. Unfortunately, it was the worst Chinese curry I have eaten and the two pancake rolls were a third of the size I used to be offered. At £3.10, they were a total rip-off! Will not be making a return visit.

If you call yourself “master chippy” you should be able to make chips..last two times have been vile .thick,raw in the middle hard outside and saturated in fat ..fish ?the minnow I got was dripping with oil with rock hard batter ( more batter than fish)gave the benefit of doubt after 1st time …..it’s gone downhill👎 P.S…..tried again last week ..oil saturated hard batter on tiny cod..chips over cooked outside raw inside so no better…and 40 mins late delivery ,arrived cold after being driven around on a tour of fareham !!woman on phone abrupt….Wont be going back.

Food always delicious,quick deliveries and always make my partners fussy eater order perfectly.

Good food but need to be carful of what you order can sometimes can it wrong or not give you what you ordered

Bought a cheese burger and large chips with some curry sauce. The cheese burger tasted like NOTHING! Like, really, nothing. Chips portion was MASSIVE. Honestly cannot put into words how much there was. Made me laugh. But they were good and the curry sauce is perfect. That cheeseburger though. WOW! That was seriously the worst cheeseburger I think I have ever had.

Big portion of chip's opted to try a Savaloy 6bucks! Chippys need to do a half size portion for lunch time, I couldn't finish it.

Great little Chippy / Chinese, the salt & pepper chilli chips are unreal, a must try. Glad to have discovered this place recently.

Never used the chippy side of it, but it's my favourite Chinese within Fareham that came highly recommended by somebody familiar with the place. Unreal Chinese food!!

Only had the chips from here so far (the salt and pepper chilli one are particularly delicious). They remind me very much of the ones I used to have in South Africa. Really miss the place and the chips here are a like a taste of home. Only complaint is that they aren't open on a Sunday, so if I'm craving their chips, my craving won't be satisfied. My family from South Africa (especially my gran) would definitely recommend this place.

Looking forward to nice meal, the meal got delivered to the wrong address .The driver started lying to the business owner accussing me of accepting the meal. The business owner could not deliver me another meal because his delivery driver has gone home and he doesnt have a car, got no real apology and qoute he said ^what do you want me to do about it". Nice!!!! At least i'll get my money back in 3 working days fingers crossed!!! Customer service is appauling all round. Want to give a rating of nothing like my meal but I can't.

Always had fantastic service, prompt delivery, with nothing ever missing. Really lovely delivery man, always asks how we are and the chap on the phone is very helpful and super efficient! Food is always hot and delicious with generous portions. Always our ‘go to’ favourite for fish and chips and Chinese food! Keep being amazing and we will keep ordering ❤️

Very nice and tasty, one problem for myself was far too many chips.

10/10. The chips are always lovely and their Chinese is the best. They aren’t stingy with the portion sizes either and you are definitely getting what you paid for. Not greasy and very flavourful.

This is a great chippy, a great selection of food and kids options too. The chips were a bit greasy on the last visit, this isn't always the case so maybe just a busy time of day. Very much recommended.

Simply awful. Walked in to place order and was greeted with a very abrupt cashier. Did not feel welcome at all, as if I walked into a private conversation. Another member of staff sat behind counter playing with their phone. Made us wait around 10 to 15 minutes for food, only to to be served up with food that has been sat around for an hour or so only fit for the bin. Very overpriced, as most take away are in Fareham, but expect a good quality. Staff clearly need a lesson in customer relations. Will not be using this takeaway again

Very salty. No real individual flavours

First time I've used the chippy since it change hands. £8.50 for a meal that was absolutely disgusting 🤢. Wouldn't recommend. Chips were warm, more batter than fish and the curry sauce was thick as custard.

Great fish & chips & Chinese food

I've often had fish and chips from here and they were always very good and you got value for money. This time they weren't very nice at all, I had the delivery and it arrived warm so I had to put it in the microwave. The portions were tiny we ordered large cod and large chips and if I'm honest it would only feed one. I don't mind paying for large if that's what I'm going to get. Overall very disappointed.

I have been a regular for some time now, but since falling under new management, this last time, it has produced the worst fish and chips I have ever tried to eat. The chips tasted like they had been put under rotting fish before being half cooked so some are still raw, and the fish it's self seemed to be fried in week old oil. I will warn everyone I know to stay away through fear of their health and I advise anyone who sees this review to do the same.

Excellent food, the new range of Chinese food is really good, a lot lot better than a few other local Chinese take aways, and nice helpfull staff, will try their delivery service this weekend

Not impressed with their new Chinese menue , just tried sweet and sour prawns and sweet and sour chicken . Not good . Won't go there again .

Now that new management have come in its disgusting. Not only is it a complete rip off (£14 for two bits of cod and one portion of chips), but none of the food is even cooked properly. I got a snack box today, and the rice is so undercooked it's crunching and the chips are so undercooked they're starchy and disgusting. They also have messed up my order 4 times in a row, it's disgusting that the customer service workers don't even understand what they're selling. Was a 5* establishment up until now. Hope they're happy to have lost a bunch of their regular customers.

Fantastic fish and value for money always visit when down from London. Large cod is £1.50 cheaper and bigger, love the fact there is no skin on.

Tried the chips here a couple of times and each time the chips tasted undercooked.

Always use them for takeaways ,use to be lovely food but now wouldn't recommend them to anyone , lovely chicken omelette 100% but now they add onion's to it. Without informing the customer , and you don't know until get home and you don't like onions what a waste of food...
