Found this little gem just of Trafalgar Square, great vib, good staff, pie looked fantastic although didn't eat.

Love this pub, the sound of vinyl across multiple genres being played just makes for a joyful atmosphere...everyone just seems to be smiling and dancing all the time. Could do with sorting out the air con though!

In my hometown of Derry, Ireand, we have Sandinos. A left-wing socialist bar styled in the iconography of the FSLN and the Nicaraguan revolutionary movement. Very apt for its location. The Marquis resonated with me the moment I entered. Similar layout. Amazing staff and music, but in here the revolutionaries on display on the the walls are the great icons of pop culture, old London and new and from around the world. There's an Irish flag and the odd Union Jack, but the Guinness is in fine fettle, and they will play you any music on vinyl by request. I asked for The Black Keys and it came on shortly after. Loud. Top place x

Music and beer good it can get busy.

I could go there around 8.30PM, and since I do not aware that almost all pubs closes the food service after 8PM, I could not get the french fries that I ordered. During my order, I could have been informed about it. Nevertheless, the atmosphere was nice, their pale ale beer was nice. And the bartender served me well.

Best pub in London hands down. Never walked into a pub and just loved it straight away. Go as often as I can now. Vinyl, good bar staff, good beers, good events.

The ambiance of this pub is truly remarkable. Every detail, from the vintage posters adorning the walls to the carefully selected antique furniture, has been thoughtfully chosen to create a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The lighting is perfectly balanced, neither too bright nor too dim, and there is an abundance of comfortable seating choices available.

Fantastic independent pub. Upstairs was quiet for dinner while downstairs was good for afterwards. The food was spot on. The staff was in a great mood and friendly.

Good prices; their chip butties hit the spot

On a day trip to London we called into The Marquis for a bit to eat. We were greeted by friendly staff, the service was timely, we were given ample time to choose and we were not rushed. Between us we had steak and ale pie, fish and chips and a burger, all plates were emptied. So if you are looking for a peaceful spot of lunch I highly recommend The Marquis.

Hidden gem Vinyl behind the bar, DJ in the corner. This pub with a punk feel has a better than average beer selection (clwb Tropicana ain't bad), cool interior, smoking alley out back and lovely staff.

I found The Marquis in a Google search for "restaurants near me". Upon reading that it was a favorite hangout of Charles Dickens, and had favorable TripAdvisor reviews, we headed over from our hotel. The bar is small, but several locals had pulled up stools for an after work chat. It isn’t a fancy place, but has a warm vibe. Upstairs, Paul was an awesome host! He was helpful in taking our order, and some friendly banter. I had sausages and mash, with the best grilled onions ever!! My friend raved about her chicken banquette sandwich, and chips. We each enjoyed a pint of Guinness. Serving size was plentiful, the food was piping hot, and delicious! I recommended The Marquis to our taxi driver, and the porters at our hotel. When I return to London, The Marquis is a stop I’ll make. Cheers to Paul!

Rock n roll pub with people dancing and having a good time. Seems there's someone hired behind the bar to only change vinyls which was an amusing sight to see.

An incredible atmosphere in the centre of London. Prices are not too bad and the music you listen to is directly cooked from the bar using a more-than-decent vinyl collection.

Great pub tucked away behind the police station. Music care of the record player behind the bar, always lively. Fun place to have a drink.

I visited the Covent Garden for the first time on November 9, 2023, during a special night. It's easy to say that after that night, this place has become my favourite pub ever. Every time I visit, I still get chills, and memories flow through my mind. Green Day played their most intimate gig ever here. I'm so glad I discovered you guys; your music selection is superb. I love that you still play music with a record player. And when the record player is not playing, you get the best bands to perform. The staff is super nice. I still haven't managed to get here for brunch, but my hopes are high as I see from the menu that you also have a plant based selection. Thank you for the great nights and the ones to come!

Small, busy, great music played (vynil!) Sport if you want to watch. Good selection of real ale. I've walked past so many times and I am very glad I popped in entirely by accident. A welcome oasis amongst soulless chain establishments off central London.

Quirky, vintage music themed, pub. Different by the standards of the west end so to be applauded. Seems untainted by food and had a good selection of beers. Quite small so not too many seating opportunities.

So here I am with my wife in, I have to admit, my favourite pub in central London. The Marquis. Run by Tommy who is, I think, an original mod, although he doesn’t look old enough. In this pub they play vinyl, they have a huge collection but if you want to bring your own they will play it for you. Bar lady Ananda (from Brazil) was lovely and welcoming. Top Monday afternoon. Been here couple of times now, not eaten in here so can't comment on food, place is always busy but staff are very quick and do their job well, it's not a massive pub, but full of atmosphere, have a good selection of vinyl which you can request and music is always on the go. All.in all a great little pub with a huge atmosphere.

Have been here a few times for get togethers with friends and family and thoroughly recommend a visit. The food we've had is great value for covent garden and there are plenty of options for drinks. The decor is amazing, lots of things to look at. The highlight is the record player behind the bar and the library of vinyls, if they've got it they'll play it for you. Every staff member we've come across have been friendly and welcoming.

Nice little pub to visit if you're in the West End of London. Close to 'theatreland' & many of the London sights. Good atmosphere especially if you like music. There's memorabilia on the walls & if you're lucky the bar staff will put a record of your choice on the record player. Not many seats so does get quite busy. Prices above average but expect to pay more as its smack in the centre of London. Serves food however can't comment as we didnt eat Would recommend a visit 🍺😊

What an absolute belter of a boozer. Shane was so attentive when I needed a table at the last minute. Even on the night, Shane took the time to have a beer with me and talked me through a bit of the history of the pub. I've already recommended this place to my friends and I'll definitely be making this my 'go to' pub.

The Marquis é um pub em Londres,na zona de Trafalgar . Estabelecimento muito antigo como se comprova pela arquitetura e decoração. Comida tipicamente inglesa, assim como todo o ambiente. Muito frequentado por ingleses e turistas ,também por ser um sitio preferido por Charles Dickens havendo lá muitos vestígios da sua passagem.

Was very busy on Friday evening when I visited but bar service was quick. Good beer range. Also busy on a Thursday. Lively place.

Destined to become a legendary London music venue if it isn't already. Bang smack in central London. Feels like a local. A really great place to mingle if you want to indulge your adventurous side. They play vinyl albums - all the way through. Imagine that. And you can even request one from their massive selection. Imagine that.

What an absolute blinder of a pub. Cannot fault it and cannot find anything like it. Crisp beer, fine food, incredible music, very friendly and charismatic staff and the bar manager Tommy has got it down to a T. With the vinyl collection yo the memorabilia on the walls, only fools and horses playing in the pub and a top pint of Guinness. Would recommend anyone to go

I've visited Marquis the first time yesterday and it instantly became a reason for me to go to central London. Obviously very crowded but because the crowd is all like minded people it is a really fun atmosphere. A pub with great beer, great music, friendly staff and history. What more can you want? I'll try the food the next time which looked delicious.

Tipico pub inglese, arredato con gusto, infonde un senso di calore e cordialità. Personale attento e premuroso. Ottimo cibo. Ho preso la zuppa del giorno, servita con sfizioso pane tostato e burro e il classico fish and chips veramente deliziosi, il tutto innaffiato con un'ottima birra alla spina inglese. Prezzi onesti. Love this pub, we always try to visit when we’re in London. Such a great atmosphere with great music all on vinyl and they even ask for your requests!!! What’s not to like!

Food, service and prices very good, however please please clean your little toilet halfway up the stairs. Back of the door filthy, dryer not working and paper dispenser off the wall just left on the ledge!

A typical London pub that is visited by locals and tourists alike. It offers the typical London vibe and a good selection of beers. The prices are moderately expensive, but cheaper than the ones of the region. The customer service was very polite and welcoming. They host live music in the afternoon and night, which is definitely worth visiting!

Good old fashioned London pub with great beer and the addition of some class music. Located close to Trafalgar Sq. Covent Garden and theatre land what more could you want.

Oh my gosh! This place is amazing! What a wonderful hidden gem, so much history and interest in this pub. Family ran so has a wonderful atmosphere with amazing staff. They play vinyl and you can request a song. Has a Mod/Ska/Soul theme but welcoming for all. Lovely selection of beers, ciders and other drinks. Staff so friendly and happy to chat. If you watched Mary Poppins you will have seen the bar in the movie and also the alley at the back of the pub was an influence for Harry Potters Diagon alley. I will 100% be back, it's a wonderful pub and no visit to London would be the same for me without a visit here! *Didn't have food but imagine it would be lush as everything else here is brilliant*

I really recommend this bar! The food is very delicious (i ordered the vegetable sausages), the staff is very friendly and the music is quite nice and chill.

This is my go to, favourite pub in central London. It’s always a great atmosphere and is fabulous for music. They have a record deck and loads of vinyl behind the bar. Great beer, friendly service and they will have the odd live band in there and recently Green day did a surprise gig in there. Upstairs you can get good traditional food. It’s not Michelin star but it’s very reasonably priced. A big shout out to Tabitha who served us in there who was great. In short you won’t go wrong paying this great pub a visit… even Charles Dickens used to drink here. 😎👍

Authentic Irish pub with great food and good beers (Guinness, Candem…). I really recommend Fish & Chips and the typical Irish sausages with smashed potatoes. Live music at some hours. Cool atmosphere.

Needed something quick and nearby the National Museum but wanted a good atmosphere and not too touristy. This place was perfect for just that. Wouldn’t say the food is what you go here for but I didn’t try a lot so can’t really say. Preferred being downstairs (upstairs is where you can dine) w a cold beer and looking at all the pictures/decor while listening to good tunes on vinyls!

Always make an effort to go to this pub. Great beers, music, staff and atmosphere.

We went here for lunch after visiting the National Gallery. We made reservations and were glad that we did. We were here on a Sunday and took advantage of their Sunday Roast. It was delicious and came with all the great trimmings, including Yorkshire Pudding and roasted veggies. Some of us also had the Pimm's Lemonade which was really refreshing on a warm October day.

So much fun. Such a good vibe. Everyone happy. The staff all super lovely too....when the staff are happy you know it's a good place! Would recommend

Perfect quintessential British pub. And I mean British ramped up to 11. Cockney rhyming slang on chalk boards, Only fools and horses playing on the flat screen, plenty of wood everywhere and walls covered in union jacks, football scarves and other British paraphernalia. As a British expat on a return visit to London I loved every minute.
