OK, I'm from Yorkshire, and I know fish & chips in the North are far superior. There is no debate. So I was left a bit shocked when I came here and had comparable fish & chips at what I would consider a reasonable price for London; I mean, right in the centre. What can I say; I was a bit upset. When you walk away and feel you are taking the advantage, I think you have to give credit. Well done.

Absolutely rammed & popular destination but good vibes & great decor, it's definitely a musicians pub. We went to a performance upstairs, which was really lovely and had its own bar. Even in October it was very warm but a general standing fan would resolve that for the performers. Service was super lovely and helpful. Do not recommend the sauvignon blanc though 😅 Smoking area out back & front.

Cool little spot with vinyl records playing behind the spot. If you can get a seat here during some downtime from peak tourist/office worker hours, a nice little boozer. Plus its cool to watch the comings and goings of the private members club in the smoking area 👀

Where else can you get a pint in Trafalgar Sq/Covent garden for 5.50?! Great real ale kept well (thats coming from a Northerner) Always friendly staff, happy to give tasters actually they encourage you to, great vinyl always playing. Afternoons in the week are great for a quiet pint but it gets packed for good reason at weekends and evenings. Great vibe though. Been going ages. Legendary pub to those in the know.

Seems like a fine place to get a beer but don't eat here. The food was good but unfortunately the servers were very rude, slow, and incompetent. They made a point to loudly complain about foreigners after we were nothing but polite, despite many issues. Then they did the pleasure of trying to sneak by a 12.5% tip on the bill. If you need to go here just get a beer and skip eating.

If you want a typical American Dining experience being served by sullen 20 year old girls who don’t care about timeliness of service, are totally fine with bringing 3 meals out of the 4 ordered while your companion waits for another 30 minutes, your food gets cold and rubbery because you care about your companion, and you receive no apologies and are rewarded with an automatic service charge, come here!

Controversial low rating today. Tend to visit this pub when eating at Thai Pot next door. Happened to pass by on a Sunday, when Thai Pot is closed. An element of the pub is that you can select music from a quite eclectic selection. I asked for Buzzcocks during a period when The Smiths were playing. Barperson proceeded to play Supertramp, both sides, absolutely fine. Then, some third side, not Buzzcocks. Please set expectations a la: we've just had The Smiths, so, a second miserable Manchester band isn't appropriate..... Rating moot as I cannot see myself visiting again.....

This pub has a long history, Dickens reportedly drank here. It also has a musical history. Ask someone there about the time Green Day performed there; needless to say the small bar downstairs was packed (you can also check it out on YouTube). The service once I was seated was very good. The sausage and mash I had and the beers were good and very satisfying after a long flight and sightseeing.

This family owned pub is very popular among pub groups on Facebook and I can see why. They had four cask beers on offer and I opted for a Ghost Ship, very reasonably priced at £5.50. The theme of this pub is music, from the vinyl records dangling from the ceiling to the multitude of memorabilia all around the pub. You can choose an album to play from behind the bar and they will play it on an old style record player. They also have live music and other live events on a regular basis. The service was excellent. It is not a large pub but there is a designated standing area out back, while some customers prefer to drink in the street at the front. This pub does get busy and a lot of groups on pub tours come and go. In summary a must do pub if you are in the area.

we were having a great time until the incredibly rude person (a male) who i think may have been the manager decided to treat a young girl disgracefully. In a break in the live music she asked for a record to be played and he proceeded to loudly try and embarass the poor girl by shouting that "awww what a shame, she's got the hump" and that he didn't want idiots like her in the pub! I was amazed at the rude agressive atitude of the man considering she did NOTHING to deserve such treatment ( i was standing right there and witnessed it all), the girls boyfriend politely asked why there was a problem as his girl had only asked for a record and the man replied " you're a prick, we don't want people like you in our pub". Absolutely Disgraceful behaviour by the man, it was disgusting. I always go to the Marquis when in london and always recommend it to others but i will do neither anymore. The man's a disgrace.

Lovely pub, great atmosphere and great music just a shame I can’t say the staff were great. Very rude staff, one man in particular who I assume was the manager (longish black hair) was just vile. I work in hospitality myself and there was no need for his rude attitude. I would’ve stayed in this pub until it closed as we were having a great time dancing in there for my partners birthday but unfortunately we all left after being spoken to like sh*t by said ‘manager’. Such a shame that the staff let the pub down

Arrived there approx 7.45pm Sunday. It was not busy, so I was quickly served a nice pint of cask ale “Proper Job”. I knew it was closing at 8, and the “turn” (as we say up North”) was launching into his final numbers. Sadly his talents were limited, and audience response was muted. Bar closed at 8, and I was a bit surprised when a bar staff member approached me at 8.06 and enquired, in passive aggressive manner, whether I wanted to take my drink away. “No” I said, I just want to drink up within statutory drinking up time! “Ok” she said, but make sure you finish before we throw you out! It wasn’t a warm and friendly feeling, but I drank up and left by 8:15. This is a rather over-rated pub I think?!

We always use this great little pub when in town. We were 5 guys and a lady. It was Saturday 1/6. The pub was packed with German and Spanish football fans, the atmosphere fabulous. We stayed for about an hour, then went to eat. Coming back to the pub for another 2 hours. Our average age maybe 65. The whole time, while spending good money, there was not an issue at any point, with any member of staff. None. In the early evening a security man, spoke to our group, we didn’t understand what he was saying, but at all times we were courteous. We had 3 military vets with us, we were having a great time. Completely out of the blue, he informed the staff not to serve us. We were so offended, that we left quietly. Our behaviour the entire day, was on point, we still cannot understand, what we had done wrong.
