Visiting my parents who live in St. Cleer we always pop in for a drink when I’m down. But this week we had food together. The food was very tasty with big portions. Service is always spot on and Karen behind the bar is always ready to pour us another drink :) Highly recommended!

Heard some good reports so booked a table for the carvery as a small family gathering. Arrived and it was very quiet with Carl laying up the carvery. Once other family members arrived and Carl was ready we were called up. Great spread with a starting choice of pork or beef. Also a wide selection of different veg to go with the meat choice. Best was proper roast spuds and crackling (with the pork) which is always a good sign. Food was really good !. Staff were attentive to check a couple times for more drinks and desserts so were spot on. Everyone enjoyed the meal and were well (impressed and) stuffed come the end. All agreed on a return visit with an increase of family members for later in the month. Well done Carl and the team.

First visit and was certainly not disappointed. Have to say it was a great carvery. Not rushed and plenty of room between the tables. Will certainly be going back.

This little pub has suddenly become a buzzing hub, since it was taken over by Rachel and Carl. The welcome here is personal and warm, and the atmosphere created makes you want to return. The introduction of food, has really put the jewel in their crown, and they now serve, (amongst other things), the finest fish n chip suppers on Friday nights, and more recently, have introduced home cooked Sunday roasts, served most conveniently, between 12noon and 4 pm. The dining room is small but very cosy, and the offerings on their launch day included roast rib of beef, and roast turkey. There was a variety of vegetables, along with the “staples” of roast potatoes, and roast parsnips. (Yorkshire puddings go without saying🙂). It’s a laid back environment, where the bookings are sensibly spaced so that it isn’t “manic”. Carl is at the carving board to serve your chosen meat/s, and the vegetables are “help yourself”, as are all the trimmings. The meal feels homely and certainly provides a nourishing feast for those with a hearty appetite. Sunday lunch at The Market Inn will certainly become a “go to” for people within quite a wide radius, be it for Fish n chips, Sunday roast, or just the great friendly night out with their special burger. Keep this up Rachel & Carl, you’re getting it just right.

Nice little local pub. We stopped by for lunch with the two kids. Easy parking and not too busy, the bar staff were awesome and very accommodating to our requirements. We all were well fed and watered and the locals were great company to sit and chat to.

Visited The Market Inn yesterday (17/8/19) lunchtime & was pleasantly surprised. The hosts were very helpful & friendly & the pub had a welcoming atmosphere. The menu was a little limited, but there was something for everyone & very good value for money.

Called in for lunch with a friend. Lovely village pub, warm and welcoming hosts. A few locals playing pool and music playing, quiet but it was a terrible rainy day. Great choice of menu and fantastic value if you have 2 courses. We ordered lasagne and sausage and chips. Expected it to be basic pub grub but was very pleasantly surprised. I had 3 sausages, chips, onion rings, salad and peas all for £4.95 and very well presented. Will definitely pop in again for lunch soon.

Dark and dingy. Arrogant licensees. Would definitely not recommend a visit. So disappointed, do tend to think they get the clientele they deserve (raucous, bad language etc.)

A group of 20 of us pre-ordered our lunches before walking in the area. When we arrived, they started preparing the food. All the meals were tasty and standard food like lasagne, fish and chips etc, but very cheap. The meals arrived quite quickly considering there was only one person preparing it for us. They were friendly, but did try and take away my chips while I was still eating them!

Dropped in here about 2.30pm on a September Monday so not very busy though locals were in and very friendly. We had some good pub food and found the lady behind the bar, presumably the owner, very friendly - she could not do enough to help and make us feel welcome. The food and ale were nice and the locals chatty and nothing but welcoming. We enjoyed it, simple as that and would not hesitate to recommend on that basis.

I have lived near the village for roughly three years now and The Market was never known to be nicest place to be, even though Paul and Penny were lovely, there was only so much they could do given the double dip recession we had and the pub belonging to a brewery! However, a year+ on, there are some new managers and we went to the pub for a quiz. Was very happy with how the pub has been brightened up and is very clean. The managers were friendly and we were welcomed by Harvey (the parrot) too. They are now doing food as well, which I have not had myself but heard it is very good.

Popped in as new managers have taken over, unfortunately there was no food available as the kitchen had been condemned, and looking at the type of clientele they were bringing in it would not be the type of pub you would want to spend much time in, will not be going back.

We stopped for an ice cream while on the search for our car keys which we lost on the beach!! 🤦🏽♀️ The rum and raisin ice cream was AMAZING and no complaints from the kids and hubby with their choices! The lovely gent who served us got his wife Zara to help us with locating the keys which luckily where found and left at the RLNI across but was closed, she managed to find someone who got the keys So thank you so much for your help lovely people and for the ice creams! 🥰 wishing you all the best x

Been coming here for many years, it is an absolute joy every time we come for a meal. Today me and my mother came for afternoon tea and everything was delicious and delectable, as it always is. The service is absolutely flawless, all the staff are exceptional and extremely welcoming, especially the manager. Would recommend to anyone who is looking for a perfect meal out.

Beautiful building. Amanda the barmaid/waitress was very helpful and friendly. My family had the ham egg and chips, which was outstanding. I had fish and chips, the fish was delicious and fresh. The puddings were sinful and beautifully made.

I will start by saying the restaurant did reduce our bill and throw in a few free extras but we were very surprised by the quality and portioning of the food. At the time the cafe was very quiet but the staff seemed a little bit chaotic. Orders not being put through properly, items missed off and not knowing what beer they had available. A couple of us ordered the chicken burger (£13) and my son had the kids version (£8.50) but his came with chips. I was pretty shocked when we both received exactly the same sized portion. A small bun, 1/2 a small chicken fillet and one piece of lettuce, not exactly worth £13. The staff did even comment that they there was an issue but still felt it was fine to serve and just expect people to pay. The pizzas were but ok but again surprised when we we charged £3 for 2-3 sliced olives as an extra. We've eaten at many other places up and down the coast and based on our experience we would not return.
