Went for a few drinks and to watch the football. Nice selection of beers and very accomodating staff who found the game and put it on specially.

We visited on the marine bar’s opening night after an extensive refurbishment. Lovely, relaxing vibe to the bar. Great bar staff, very friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed drinks as a family early evening. Can’t wait to return!

Of the three pubs in Mallaig this one is not number one, not real ale on sale which is a shame as Scotland has some fine ales. Very noisy and you are made to feel you are intruding.

It was pouring with rain, we had an hour to wait for the train and we felt like a drink. This place was perfect. The locals were friendly despite my wearing a New Zealand shirt at the onset of a rugby world cup, and we enjoyed a relaxing few drinks before our dash to the train.

You will not find cordon bleu food or any food in fact or a trendy selection of fashionable gins. What you will find is Mallaigs real working locals bar frequented by hardworking local people. It's not pretty, it's genuine and not pretending to be something it's not. The Marine bar is Mallaig.

Just found this a disappointing over priced hovel. It is absolutely scandalous that despite minimum pricing on alcohol there is this need to rip people off by over inflated pricing. Not just this place they are all ripping tourists off... no wonder people go abroad

Dit was onze eerste kennismaking met Mallaig. Het is echt een typisch lokale bar, verschillende soorten Cider, en bier en een eenvoudige hap voor de hongerige reiziger. Wel leuk om even een praatje te maken met de locals.

Basic but clean traditional pub. Staff and customers were pleasant and prices were very good compared to other places in Mallaig. Dogs are also allowed. Go in and experience a real old fashioned local pub but don't expect luxury.

Yes, I visited the Marine Bar on two occasions....the bar was empty although there were many, many tourists around...maybe the bar could be revamped....because the passing trade is made up with local workers

Having some time before catching our train back to Fort William, we called in for a drink on a very hot day, this is very much a "Man's" pub with very tired decor and not very welcoming when you look in from the street, but the service was quick and reasonably friendly, I saw no evidence of food being served so can't comment on that. Given the location near to the train station, this could be a very busy place if it was given a facelift.

Popped in to get a quick sandwich and pannini as a takeaway. They cost about £5 each and were very poor value for money

Came in here for a drink before our return trip by steam train to Fort William. A lovely day was nearly spoiled when we were charged £4.10 for a single measure of Grouse whisky. I queried this and said we hadn’t asked for a double. The bar maid told me this was the correct price! When we returned to our hotel in Fort William I checked the prices of whisky in the wine list and discovered £4.10 was the price of a measure of really good single malts . The Famous Grouse was priced at £2.75! If the Marine Bar was a 5 star establishment in a trendy hotspot I could just about understand the pricing but as it is a rather tired little pub with not much going for it the price charged was inexcusable. I hope this was just a mistake on the barmaid’s part and the management will give her some training in pricing correctly and carefully. If this was not a mistake then this establishment should be looked at carefully by the licensing board and Visit Scotland to prevent visitors being ripped off.

I visited this bar to watch football on Sky TV. This was in fact the bar's only good feature. The beer [Guinness] was expensive, attention slow, and not a particularly friendly atmosphere. Not recommended, I shall not re-visit.

Called in to have lunch after arriving on the train. On entry there was no-one to be seen. A girl did appear eventually. Followed by a young man. We asked him if there were meals available, only to be met with a " what". I asked again,do you serve meals. Only to be answered with an abrupt "NO" We ordered a drink against my better judgment, in that time, another couple came in and were met with the same rude " What" when they asked about lunch. If he spent less time on his phone and dancing around with a girl I can only asume works there and more time on customer service, it would be a better place. If I was the owner I would reassessing my staff.

Came to have a nice lunch, great mussels, beer and soup; and when I ask for the bill, I get charged a 5% extra just because I use an international credit card. I've been living in Scotland for a year now and it's the first time this happens... Discrimination??? No announcement about it or anything! You just get the surprise when you want to pay!!! REALLY unfair!

It feels like this is a new opening the staff were not quite skilled enough with us customers. The food tasted like it was cooked from frozen and for a town where fresh fish is available at the snap of your fingers this was disappointing. Mallaig does not have a lot of places to sit and eat and I am afraid that this pace does not warrant future visits.

This bar is badly in need of a refurbishment and for it's position in a tourist location it is a poor example of Highland hospitality. The price of the drinks my wife and I had were also a good bit more expensive than another bar just minutes away which was far better. One to avoid.

We only popped into the bar for a drink on a very rainy day and found the bar to be very dismal to say the least. It's just one big room with no atmosphere and the table and chairs left a lot to be desired.

Only called in for drinks but was quite glad to leave. Staff were friendly enough but the choice was poor with no real ales and surroundings which looked like they had not been updated for decades. Seems popular with the locals though
