The Marine in East Devon

Popped in on Thursday for dinner while visiting family. Absolutely lovely food and atmosphere. We had a bit of a family issue while there, and the staff and landlord could not be more kind and helpful! Truly lovely people. Please pop in and support this great business!

We booked at The Marine for Mothers day lunch, as it looked like it had been refurbished, was in a great position on the sea front and it welcomed dogs. The menu also catered for vegans, which suited two of our party. We were lucky that the tide was right for a nice long walk across Jacobs Ladder beach where it's all sand, with many rockpools at low tide. We parked in the big car park opposite, (for only £2 a day in winter) and were able to walk straight round to The Marine, from the beach. The Marine has a lovely decor and friendly staff who were kind and attentive throughout our meal. The meals we chose were really delicious and the two vegans particularly enjoyed the mushroom wellington and treacle tart with ice cream for pudding. Although this was a busy day for them, we never felt under pressure to finish and enjoyed the servers banter. We will definitely be looking to book again. Thank you The Marine Team!

With the doors open, right opposite the beach, it was idyllic, on a rare sunny day in january.. The food was good and the service was friendly and prompt.

Visited The Marine for a birthday lunch. Ordered the Cajun burger which was delicious, served with the best Cajun mayonnaise I’ve ever tasted. Other members of the party ordered pizza, monkfish and belly pork. Everyone really enjoyed their meals and were left feeling happily satisfied. We needed a box for the leftovers. The staff were extremely attentive and friendly. We felt like they “ went the extra mile” to meet our requests. We would definitely go back and recommend to others.

Popped in unannounced in a large group, accommodated no problem. My 5 year old daughter is very reserved, the staff managed to get her talking (which she has never done with a stranger!). Very pleasant staff served us, a credit to the establishment

This place really is the master of all trades, you can have a beautiful seafood sharing platter with some equally amazing made cocktails in a relaxed setting. But somehow it feels incredibly refined and the food is outstanding. Please visit if you're passing by, or if you're in two minds, let this review push you into booking a table. You will not regret it!

A lovely bar found on Trip Advisor and well worth a visit . Seafood is a specialty but pizzas , burgers and other selections are available. Good ambience and baguettes available at lunchtime along with a standard menu. Looking forward to visiting on a Sunday lunchtime when they do roast baguettes along with roasts. The sticky toffee pudding (with clotted cream and ice cream) was the best. I am sooo full

Going here for Lunch was the highlight of my stay, not only was the food more than what I expected (and well priced) - but the service was what really made us stay for a few glasses of wine after! Friendly and knowledgeable staff that Impressed me and the family. Will eat here again.

Pre Christmas lunch with a friend. The staff were super helpful, polite and happy, even though they were busy. Food as always was outstanding, 100% recommend the Holsworthy belly pork, was totally melt in the mouth and full of flavour, even ate the sprouts, and I never eat sprouts.

Disappointed.. we booked a family Christmas meal.. ordered from the set menu.. no Christmas choice for children.. the food was bland.. portions small.. felt rushed.. where we was sat was cold.. not your best

We had the most excellent work Christmas dinner at the Marine, despite their Christmas meals not starting until December they were able to accommodate 30 of us late December. The food was delicious and all dietary requirements catered for, my pigeon and fish was delicious and the crumble was to die for. Rob, Charlie and all the staff looked after us all evening and nothing was too much trouble, we left feeling happy, full and festive!

Situated on the front, called in to meet friends and for a drink, v rustic and comfortable inside, lots of people eating and food looked good, excellent pint of TT served. Will revisit for food.

We had our work Christmas party at the Marine, the food was incredible from the turkey all the way to the Brussel sprouts. Service was impeccable, It was a busy night and all of the staff were happy and helpful along with a great seasonal atmosphere. Cannot recommend highly enough!

We are locals and have enjoyed excellent meals at the Marine but their Christmas Menu (we pre-booked a week in advance) was off the scale in deliciousness! We enjoy their feather blade beef, turkey with all the trimmings and tasty ample veggies on the side plus a yummy homemade apple crumble. Thank you to Rob and his team who always look after us, personal attentive service that makes the experience extra special! Here's to more visits in 2024!

Christmas meal for my husband and I. Monk fish was cooked so delicate and precise it melted at you are it my husbands blade of beef was delicious. Excellent value for money, superb quality of food and super friendly atmosphere. Most of all management very welcoming and work as hard as all staff. Highly recommend. We are definitely going to become regulars (even if a few miles to get to!).

We step up this nice restaurant at the side of the beach, we were thinking of something different for the night but we decided to go ahead as a friend recommendation, the staff were really friendly and the food was superb, we had soup of the day for starters and then some bbq ribs and a seafood plater. Arrived just after 3pm on a weekday so didn't get to sample the dining personally, but offerings at another table looked great. Staff were polite and friendly. Dog friendly and great views from the outdoor seating area.

Great pub with really friendly staff. Very welcoming to us bringing our retriever in. Really enjoyed the calamari and the chips were cooked perfectly. Definitely recommend sitting outside on a sunny day if possible to watch the world go by.

The Marine is a gorgeous pub, with a stunning view of the esplanade, with inside and outside seating, this gorgeous pub offers the best seafood you will eat, so fresh and delicious. I had one of the best meals of my life in The Marine! Cannot recommend enough!
