The Maple Leaf in City of London, Westminster

What a find! On our way to the Adelphi Theatre & needed a bite to eat & a beer. The small plates menu was perfect although meals going out to other diners looked great too. Staff were all very friendly & what a great atmosphere.

This place is great! We had theater tickets two days in a row and chose to eat here both nights after visiting last June before the theater. The place is welcoming and fun. We really enjoyed the food.

Do not eat here, especially if you are going to a theatre. We had to wait nearly an hour for our food. It seemed that the food was cooked in a timely manner but then sat around somewhere as it was all stone cold by the time it arrived. The sports TV is too loud for such a small room.

£5.55 for a lemonade with a drop of blackcurrant cordial. Bartender laughed at my surprise and said ‘this is London’. Simply outrageous price gouging, the establishment should be ashamed of themselves.

We showed up on Saturday night as part of a birthday pub crawl for four mates — we were a group of 15 with no booking, so honestly didn’t expect to get a table. But Mihai somehow managed to sort out a big table in no time. Absolute legend! When I mentioned it was a birthday celebration, he even helped us out with the cake situation. The plan was to hop around a few more pubs, but the vibes were so good we ended up staying the whole night. Tried loads of beers we hadn’t had before — big shoutout to Suzy who guided us through all the beers on tap <3 Make sure to try the honey beer if you swing by — it’s a winner!

Ella servía las cervezas y dijo que esperaría a que se asentara (esto era justo si esta cerveza a menudo sube alto) pero parecía olvidarse y durante los siguientes minutos simplemente guardó vasos a pesar del hecho de que mis cervezas se habían asentado en solo unos segundos. Le pregunté si podía recargarlos y parecía muy ofendida al ser preguntada. Me remató la pinta con el tiempo y esto estuvo bien. Sin embargo ella me dio a mis compañeros la mitad y era literalmente mitad espuma. Fue un cuarto de pinta. Ni la mitad. Le pregunté si podía recargarlo. Ella me miró como un Delfín aturdido y luego le pidió a un colega que continuara sirviéndome. Comportamiento extraño. Este es sin duda el peor ejemplo de servicio al cliente que he visto en 28 años de beber en Londres, La cerveza y la comida estaba bien solo una pena sobre el servicio atroz.

We were in London to watch Macbeth at the globe theatre but as it was national Poutine day, we left early to get some poutine and steak.. When the waiter, a guy with quite a few silver rings came over and asked what we want.. I excitedly said Poutine as it’s national poutine day.. He’s response was I couldn’t careless what day it is.. I even asked if he thought I said Putin.. But know he heard what I said and responded it’s always a something day.. I wanted to leave there and then but my wife and son love Poutine as do I.. If it was my restaurant and Poutine was my main dish, I would’ve advertised the hell out of it and promoted a great Canadian dish.. It’s safe to say I’ll never return, poor customer service is abominable, especially when you pay nearly 60 quid for a quick lunch.. Very poor welcome for a Canadian restaurant,..

A great find, took advantage of a free pint offer which the bar staff were aware of so that is an excellent result!

Food: - Portion sizes have really shrunk since covid - Mashed potatoes are old and bitter - Beef pale ale pie was small, very little meat inside and very obviously cooked from frozen. Great little gem overall with a nice selection of Canadian beers, I really enjoyed my 0% alcohol beer, it was really tasty! Pountine is decently priced however would say drinks are fairly expensive . 🇨🇦🇨🇦 Staff mostly nice.

Don't buy the maple leaf lager, it tastes like death and dust, absolutely disgusting, worse than any other cheap nasty lager. Drink prices far above average for London. The food is well priced. They have Früli on tap which is nice. The choice of music is good, but far too loud for that kinda place.

Have been here twice to catch UCL matches when in town. Good place to have a beer and watch the matches. Nice sports bar vibe, and a decent selection on tap.

Great little piece of Canada in London. Have some amazing Canadian beers both on draught and in bottles. Food is great, the poutine is to die for ! Will definitely be back!

We waited 15 minutes without either of the two staff members coming to take our order. The restaurant was empty, yet they spent the entire 15 minutes behind the bar, chatting and laughing right in front of us.

15 minutes to wait and no one to serve us or even welcome us. However there were no more than 10 people but the employees prefer to laugh and joke behind the bar than to take care of people it seems

A quality sports bar with a good atmosphere. Suitable for watching football games. At least 10 beer taps. Canadian food for those who love and also for those looking to eat something with the beer. The order of the food and beer is made at the bar and the food is served to the table

Excellent food. Service is pretty good considering how busy it was (we went on a Saturday) Gets very loud in there to the point we had to shout to speak to anyone in our party, very lively.

Great Canadian sports bar tucked in in alleys of Covent Garden. Food - spot on, drinks - spot on (they even have their own Canadian house beer - Honey Brown - on draught which is brewed by Sleemen brewery) and of course immaculate service! Will definitely be back!

They cancelled our confirmed reservation the day before our date and gave no reason. I had to follow up with corporate on two different occasions just to learn that they had an issue with their booking system. Still doesn't explain why they let us know the day before rather than as soon as we booked. Now we have to find somewhere else to go with limited options given the time constraint. This would have been our second visit to this place, and we really enjoyed our first, but I doubt we will try to go again given the unreliable booking system and that they don't honour confirmed reservations. The pub doesn't answer their telephone so no option to book direct either. Edit in response: your initial response when I contacted you was that the table was not available. Then I posted the review and you contacted me that the table was available.

Good pub with quite reasonably priced food and drink (for London prices). Poutine is great, as are the burgers.

Terrible food, came out stone cold and burnt burgers. TBF the chefs must have some skill as they managed to remove and resemblance to flavour from it. Hand driers broke, no soap in the toilets. Full of rugby tools as well.

Overall disappointed with visit. It felt like the staff couldn't be bothered. Food: We ordered a selection of food which had to be sent back as it was cold. The replacements were warm but still not as you would expect. Cleanliness: Staff standing round doing nothing. Tables full of empty glasses and plates. Toilets are a mess with no soap or dryers. Needs improvement

Your name is Maple Leaf, outside bar has flags of Canada, you are calling you as sport bar, there is going NHL 4 nations cup game CAN-FIN with all NHL all stars and there is announcement on the door that you cannot show ice hockey games because it costs extra....👎👎👎👎

Bouncers tonight are weird. I asked a lady sitting at a table outside if one of the chairs was free so I could take it and sit on it with my cold pint. “Certainly, help yourself” she said. The seat had been airborne in my hands not 3 seconds when bouncer from the front door pounced, very animated, exclaiming “you haven’t got permission YOU HAVEN’T GOT PERMISSION”. He then tore the seat from my hands, smashed it back down next to the table, gave me some weird stare and then retreated back to the front door arms folder. Frankly, I was in shock. Made even worse by his side kick who came over to ask what the “beef was”. He had pastry from the sausage roll he was eating in his beard - how unprofessional. Not impressed by these 2 clowns, they really misjudged things tonight. Won’t be coming here again. You wouldn’t see this in a Canadian sports bar… It gets even better, I have just been removed from this bar because of this review. Do we now live in a country where we cannot even express our views ? The manager was spoken to, he seemed to be taking orders from the bouncer reviewed above. Update: No sign of the offenders mentioned below. Suspect their services have been no longer required. Absolutely disgraceful and unprofessional behaviour from the whole staff here. Had an Australian sports team with me, they were shocked. The professionalism of this place will be reported appropriately.

What should have been an enjoyable family outing to watch the Six Nations rugby turned into an unnecessarily unpleasant experience due to the unprofessional security staff. Having previously visited this establishment and enjoyed their excellent sports viewing facilities, I made a reservation for 6 people, including my young nephew, for Saturday afternoon. Despite having a confirmed booking, we were met with inexplicably hostile and intimidating behavior from the door staff. Their aggressive questioning and confrontational attitude were completely unwarranted, especially considering we were a family group arriving for a scheduled booking during daytime hours. The bouncers' demeanor was so unwelcoming that it felt as though our mere presence was an inconvenience to them, despite us being paying customers with a legitimate reservation. This kind of treatment is particularly inappropriate when families with children are involved. While the venue's sports screening facilities are admittedly good, the hostile reception completely overshadowed any potential positive aspects of the visit. It's disappointing to see how quickly a venue can damage its reputation through poor customer service at the entry point.

Been here a few times and always enjoy it, but this time they’ve had a mare with the delivery which isn’t their fault so there was no cheese curds in the poutine which defeats the point of poutine

My wife and I had lunch here last weekend. The first two items we asked for weren’t available, so the man behind the bar (manager?) kindly knocked money off our bill to make up for it. Thank you very much- it’s very good of you, and appreciated. We’ll be back :)

A Canadian pub, showing all manner of sports, they have many screens some are in the booths which is a good idea. The service when we attended was quick and polite. Although I didn't try the food on this occasion it looked pretty nice. The music was a good mix of classic and rock (I think) . Overall I would say it's a good place to go and watch sports while enjoying a bit of food.

Cool pub but clueless. 100 people in for the rugby and won’t get the game on the screen. No sound for anthems. Shocking to say the least.

La semana anterior a Navidad, y Covent Garden estaba lloviznando. En la desesperación, vinimos aquí por bebidas y algunos aperitivos. Fue encantador. Cabinas cómodas, servicio rápido, buen menú para bocadillos. Teníamos un poco de pollo coreano, de memoria, que era sabroso, algunas mordeduras de pescado que eran muy agradables, cerdos en mantas (carga de) que mi marido pulió, y dije que tenemos que probar poutine. Bueno, lo siento, Canadá, pero es sólo una especie de patatas fritas y salsa con un poco de queso gomoso, así que no tengo la popularidad. Pero dicho esto, le cayó bastante bien con un par de grandes copas de vino.

A nice Canadian style bar in the heart of Covent Garden. This place is quite big with an option of tables. They show all of the games with plenty of view. The staff are extra helpful and have a smile. There's an array of drinks available that are not on the menu, but you should ask for a recommendation. They offer a Canadian food menu that should be tried. Due to Christmas and New Year, my friend had a bad experience with one of the door staff, which can be momentary and should not stop from enjoying the atmosphere inside.

Great Canadian pub where you can drink or eat something, excellent service, excellent atmosphere and excellent food. I would repeat without a doubt. You feel like you are in Canada. The best you can find in London. 🇪🇸❤️🇨🇦

Fake Fake Fake - they have 30 TV and play pre-recorder games from days ago - to cheap to play live sports events on the screens, but will advertise online and outside they play games - and also know what they play is being played on all the TVs at once. Get a real sports pub and not a fake one!!!!

What a joke, a "canadian" pub that doesnt show the hockey in lieu of Darts and NFL. Why even bother advertising yourself as Canadian when you prioritise the NFL and darts over the few times a year you can actually show NHL games during UK hours. Sort yourselves out, you're embarassing Canada.

Original review: (2018) New decorations but same great taste and service. Go for the chicken wings and poutine! They are constantly amazing. I would highly recommend this place, no matter the occasion.

Solo quería decir lo mal que me trató el tipo de seguridad el 15 de diciembre por la tarde. Después de terminar mi turno de trabajo estaba por la zona y decidí venir solo por media hora y h solo por una cerveza ya que quería ver el final del derbi Man C vs Man U. Había un guardia de seguridad afuera que me señaló que no podía entrar. Después de preguntar por qué respondió con una actitud muy grosera "¿Navidad? " Hay diferentes formas de decir las cosas y definitivamente, esa no fue una profesional. Me decepcionó mucho, ya que siempre he disfrutado ir allí con amigos y no creo que este comportamiento deba permitirse en ningún momento.

Really enjoyed having a drink here. Good atmosphere, and loved watching the different sports. Especially the wave surfing! Like the setting and how the place is decorated!

Canadian hockey bar filled with hockey decorations. We made a reservation as they told us they will stream nhl Totonto vs Winnipeg, that is the only game today. As we arrived they are not able to put it on, even i suggested alternative and provided my details for nhl app. Now we watching darts.Wont be returning.

I couldn't tell you if the food is good since we tried to go there twice and twice we were rejected. A reservation made and yet no table then a second where you wait 30 minutes outside and ultimately never hear back.

Went last night. Great pub but the food was horrendous. Waited ages then arrived cold (chips etc) . Sent back, new order, cold again. Money refunded but whole party left hungry having spent good few hours here. Sort it out, ruined experience

Terrible. Went there for lunch. Two of us had BLT sandwiches and a cod coujon sandwich. Stale bread. One BLT had no bacon and not much cod in other. No coffee as fridge not working since the morning. One glass of Merlot with cork in it. Music so loud it was impossible to converse. Would not recommend it.

Visited the Maple Leaf for pre-dinner drinks with my partner, brother and his fiance. It was during the Olympics which was on all the big televisions. It has a great atmosphere and the staff are all very friendly. They had a good laugh with my boyfriend who was dumping my broken handbag in the bin behind the bar after buying me a new one! It has a young atmosphere with lots of Millennials just looking for a good drink in a comfortable bar. The Canadian aesthetic is a bonus. The prices are London prices so quite high but the enjoyable atmosphere, its great location to restaurants and the theatres are a huge plus and the staff being lovely are also pluses. I would recommend it to anyone visiting this area and will be going back!

This is one of my favourite pubs/sports bar, mainly because they serve Canadian beer and I like the atmosphere too. I have never eaten here, just had drinks, last time we were tempted but there was a long wait for food.

Place was packed with Christmas party crowds.

The worst music I’ve ever heard in my entire life. Busy central London nonsense.

Great beer selection and friendly staff! However we ordered poultine, battered cod, vegan nuggets and dumplings! I must say the food is awful I'm very disappointed! First the poultine came lukewarm, so I send it back and 2 mnts later it was already back on our table Hot but obviously nuked up! Soft chips and disgusting! The dumpling were lukewarm as well! The fish was alright and the vegan nuggets too! Definitely not worth paying almost 50£ for the food! I didn't complain any further as the staff was very busy! Gonna come back for the beer but definitely not for any of the food! Even tho is pub food I guess you could put a wee bit more love into it!

One of my favourite pubs in London! They have a large selection of beers and the atmosphere is very great. It can be very quiet on week days as it is not located on a busy street. When there's sport on, however, it can be hard to find a table to sit

A very well known establishment situated in the heart of Covent Garden on Maiden Lane. A busy street with a lot of other restaurants and bars. I remember visiting here before Green King took over the helm , at that point in time there were still very good Canadian craft beers available in their fridges from the likes of Dieu Du Ciel and Unibroue. That was one of the main attractions for me being an avid beer drinker. Upon my return last week the beers on tap were safe with nothing exciting available and the fridges were mostly stocked with bottles of Miller Genuine Draft . All in all it's no longer a beer destination but remains very popular with the sporting crowd due to the plethora of screens . The staff were friendly and it's worth visiting just to say you've been here.

Couldn't get in because of overcrowding. Could see in and there was soccer on screen, and no NHL even though there's a game on. Because what says 'Canada' like a West Ham v Arsenal match? Also, I tried to call in advance several times and no one answered the phone. Probably as good as any other chain-owned pub, but I won't bother again.

In and out within 5 mins, half the menu not in stock. Crappy place.

The food was mediocre this time and they had no poutine tonight and most things ran out. We were there at 7pm. Absolutely disappointed.

Atmosphere was good, selection of sports available to watch. Bar staff very friendly and attentive. Good prices. Only grumble was the security staff, he was rude and condescending to other patrons. Didn't explain himself well and had a very angry attitude.

Unfortunate an advertised match doesn't have commentary and staff as "oh well go somewhere if you want to" as the manager was away and no one else could make the decision 🤷🏼

Security guy was rude to us, his behavior was offensive. I think place like yours can hire more kind security, or teach that one to speak to people. Another personnel was nice.

We stopped for a beer , we got served at the bar and then we have been expelled by a very rude guard who claims that we cant be served at the bar. We were there to enjoy ourselves but our time had been ruined by that guard who has no communication skills. Unfortunately we dont have else to comment about the place.

I don't usually do this but I witnessed and received such great service at the Maple Leaf on Sunday that it would be rude not to share my thoughts. Danny on the door worked hard all afternoon, making sure customers found seats and helping to clear and clean tables promptly so new customers could sit down. On the bar, the staff were friendly and attentive, the beer was great (you can tell they clean their lines regularly) and the atmosphere inside was cozy and warm and looked great from the recent refurb. My mouth is still frothing at the mouth from the delicious Buffalo wings. Hats off to Rich the manager, who is doing a great job. 10/10. A pub this well run and friendly is sadly a rare thing these days, so credit is given where credit id due! Keep up the good work

We really enjoyed the vibe of the Canadian pub. It was sporty, open, and had plenty of seating! The food was delicious, especially the chicken wings.

Muy cálido y acogedor - personal encantador, comida encantadora y un gran bar deportivo. Un montón de bebidas para elegir y un gran menú de comida de bar deportivo. Teníamos la hamburguesa y el filete de hierro plano, ambos cocinados a la perfección y entregados excepcionalmente rápido a pesar de lo ocupado que estaba. A slice of Canada in the UK, Fantastic friendly staff, genuine poutine, Canadian beer, Canadian memorabilia adorning the walls, as well as large screen TV's showing soccer and hockey.

My reservation has been canceled. The reservation for two adults and one child was completed on the website, but it was rejected at the door because there was a child. I am not at fault. You should have made the reservation impossible on the website. I'm so disappointed. I don't want to give a single star because I couldn't get in. ----------------- The website should have stated that no children are allowed due to soccer games. And the employee who refused us was very rude and unapologetic while eating something. You should know that the biggest problem is still unresolved. That's the employee!
