Great staff, food good value, atmosphere great as well

Bouncers tonight are weird. I asked a lady sitting at a table outside if one of the chairs was free so I could take it and sit on it with my cold pint. “Certainly, help yourself” she said. The seat had been airborne in my hands not 3 seconds when bouncer from the front door pounced, very animated, exclaiming “you haven’t got permission YOU HAVEN’T GOT PERMISSION”. He then tore the seat from my hands, smashed it back down next to the table, gave me some weird stare and then retreated back to the front door arms folder. Frankly, I was in shock. Made even worse by his side kick who came over to ask what the “beef was”. He had pastry from the sausage roll he was eating in his beard - how unprofessional. Not impressed by these 2 clowns, they really misjudged things tonight. Won’t be coming here again. You wouldn’t see this in a Canadian sports bar… It gets even better, I have just been removed from this bar because of this review. Do we now live in a country where we cannot even express our views ? The manager was spoken too, he seemed to be taking orders from the bouncer reviewed above. Update: No sign of the offenders mentioned below. Suspect their services have been no longer required. Absolutely disgraceful and unprofessional behaviour form the whole staff here. Had an Australian sports team with me, they were shocked. The professionalism of this place will be reported appropriately.

A nice Canadian style bar in the heart of Covent Garden. This place is quite big with an option of tables. They show all of the games with plenty of view. The staff are extra helpful and have a smile. There's an array of drinks available that are not on the menu, but you should ask for a recommendation. They offer a Canadian food menu that should be tried. Due to Christmas and New Year, my friend had a bad experience with one of the door staff, which can be momentary and should not stop from enjoying the atmosphere inside.

Great Canadian pub where you can drink or eat something, excellent service, excellent atmosphere and excellent food. I would repeat without a doubt. You feel like you are in Canada. The best you can find in London. 🇪🇸❤️🇨🇦

Fake Fake Fake - they have 30 TV and play pre-recorder games from days ago - to cheap to play live sports events on the screens, but will advertise online and outside they play games - and also know what they play is being played on all the TVs at once. Get a real sports pub and not a fake one!!!!

The best (and maybe only) authentic poutine in London

What a joke, a "canadian" pub that doesnt show the hockey in lieu of Darts and NFL. Why even bother advertising yourself as Canadian when you prioritise the NFL and darts over the few times a year you can actually show NHL games during UK hours. Sort yourselves out, you're embarassing Canada.

Original review: (2018) New decorations but same great taste and service. Go for the chicken wings and poutine! They are constantly amazing. I would highly recommend this place, no matter the occasion.

Really enjoyed having a drink here. Good atmosphere, and loved watching the different sports. Especially the wave surfing! Like the setting and how the place is decorated!

Canadian hockey bar filled with hockey decorations. We made a reservation as they told us they will stream nhl Totonto vs Winnipeg, that is the only game today. As we arrived they are not able to put it on, even i suggested alternative and provided my details for nhl app. Now we watching darts.Wont be returning.

I couldn't tell you if the food is good since we tried to go there twice and twice we were rejected. A reservation made and yet no table then a second where you wait 30 minutes outside and ultimately never hear back.

Went last night. Great pub but the food was horrendous. Waited ages then arrived cold (chips etc) . Sent back, new order, cold again. Money refunded but whole party left hungry having spent good few hours here. Sort it out, ruined experience

Visited the Maple Leaf for pre-dinner drinks with my partner, brother and his fiance. It was during the Olympics which was on all the big televisions. It has a great atmosphere and the staff are all very friendly. They had a good laugh with my boyfriend who was dumping my broken handbag in the bin behind the bar after buying me a new one! It has a young atmosphere with lots of Millennials just looking for a good drink in a comfortable bar. The Canadian aesthetic is a bonus. The prices are London prices so quite high but the enjoyable atmosphere, its great location to restaurants and the theatres are a huge plus and the staff being lovely are also pluses. I would recommend it to anyone visiting this area and will be going back!

Terrible. Went there for lunch. Two of us had BLT sandwiches and a cod coujon sandwich. Stale bread. One BLT had no bacon and not much cod in other. No coffee as fridge not working since the morning. One glass of Merlot with cork in it. Music so loud it was impossible to converse. Would not recommend it.

This is one of my favourite pubs/sports bar, mainly because they serve Canadian beer and I like the atmosphere too. I have never eaten here, just had drinks, last time we were tempted but there was a long wait for food.

Place was packed with Christmas party crowds.

Great beer selection and friendly staff! However we ordered poultine, battered cod, vegan nuggets and dumplings! I must say the food is awful I'm very disappointed! First the poultine came lukewarm, so I send it back and 2 mnts later it was already back on our table Hot but obviously nuked up! Soft chips and disgusting! The dumpling were lukewarm as well! The fish was alright and the vegan nuggets too! Definitely not worth paying almost 50£ for the food! I didn't complain any further as the staff was very busy! Gonna come back for the beer but definitely not for any of the food! Even tho is pub food I guess you could put a wee bit more love into it!

The worst music I’ve ever heard in my entire life. Busy central London nonsense.

A very well known establishment situated in the heart of Covent Garden on Maiden Lane. A busy street with a lot of other restaurants and bars. I remember visiting here before Green King took over the helm , at that point in time there were still very good Canadian craft beers available in their fridges from the likes of Dieu Du Ciel and Unibroue. That was one of the main attractions for me being an avid beer drinker. Upon my return last week the beers on tap were safe with nothing exciting available and the fridges were mostly stocked with bottles of Miller Genuine Draft . All in all it's no longer a beer destination but remains very popular with the sporting crowd due to the plethora of screens . The staff were friendly and it's worth visiting just to say you've been here.

One of my favourite pubs in London! They have a large selection of beers and the atmosphere is very great. It can be very quiet on week days as it is not located on a busy street. When there's sport on, however, it can be hard to find a table to sit

A small piece of Canada in the heart of London. We went there after a suggestion of a friend. Truly great pub. Recommend the traditional dish - Poutine and drink Ceasar. Staff did amazing job, we had great time. Cheers, see you next time when we’ll be in London!

Couldn't get in because of overcrowding. Could see in and there was soccer on screen, and no NHL even though there's a game on. Because what says 'Canada' like a West Ham v Arsenal match? Also, I tried to call in advance several times and no one answered the phone. Probably as good as any other chain-owned pub, but I won't bother again.

In and out within 5 mins, half the menu not in stock. Crappy place.

The food was mediocre this time and they had no poutine tonight and most things ran out. We were there at 7pm. Absolutely disappointed.

Atmosphere was good, selection of sports available to watch. Bar staff very friendly and attentive. Good prices. Only grumble was the security staff, he was rude and condescending to other patrons. Didn't explain himself well and had a very angry attitude.

Unfortunate an advertised match doesn't have commentary and staff as "oh well go somewhere if you want to" as the manager was away and no one else could make the decision 🤷🏼

Security guy was rude to us, his behavior was offensive. I think place like yours can hire more kind security, or teach that one to speak to people. Another personnel was nice.

We stopped for a beer , we got served at the bar and then we have been expelled by a very rude guard who claims that we cant be served at the bar. We were there to enjoy ourselves but our time had been ruined by that guard who has no communication skills. Unfortunately we dont have else to comment about the place.

We really enjoyed the vibe of the Canadian pub. It was sporty, open, and had plenty of seating! The food was delicious, especially the chicken wings.

I don't usually do this but I witnessed and received such great service at the Maple Leaf on Sunday that it would be rude not to share my thoughts. Danny on the door worked hard all afternoon, making sure customers found seats and helping to clear and clean tables promptly so new customers could sit down. On the bar, the staff were friendly and attentive, the beer was great (you can tell they clean their lines regularly) and the atmosphere inside was cozy and warm and looked great from the recent refurb. My mouth is still frothing at the mouth from the delicious Buffalo wings. Hats off to Rich the manager, who is doing a great job. 10/10. A pub this well run and friendly is sadly a rare thing these days, so credit is given where credit id due! Keep up the good work

Come here to meet up with friends every now and then plus watched the rugby this Saturday.. Great atmosphere and as we were early we got a seat!

A slice of Canada in the UK, Fantastic friendly staff, genuine poutine, Canadian beer, Canadian memorabilia adorning the walls, as well as large screen TV's showing soccer and hockey.

My reservation has been canceled. The reservation for two adults and one child was completed on the website, but it was rejected at the door because there was a child. I am not at fault. You should have made the reservation impossible on the website. I'm so disappointed. I don't want to give a single star because I couldn't get in. ----------------- The website should have stated that no children are allowed due to soccer games. And the employee who refused us was very rude and unapologetic while eating something. You should know that the biggest problem is still unresolved. That's the employee!

Was in here early October while visiting overseas and as a Canadian liked the fact I can have a ceasar and a CC and coke like back home

Have frequented in the past, but one of the bouncers on the door yesterday was incredibly antagonistic threatening to throw the group I was with out after another group gave us their table. Was very uncalled for and made some the women uncomfortable.

Arrived early evening to meet up with friends, didn't even cross the threshold as the doorman gave out serious attitude and seemed pissed that I'd had the temerity to interrupt his chat with some other punters. There are plenty of other pubs in the area where you won't be riled before even setting foot in the place.

I really enjoyed this pub in london. A must see place if your Canadian.

Get yourself a new security guy on the door. Tried to meet my friend who was leaving for the states this evening - the security dude wouldn't let me in. I just wanted to have a coke with my mate before she left. He was so obtuse and rude - get rid. Fire him. My friends and I (25 of us) went elsewhere and took our business with us.

As a Canadian on a trip to London, this was a pleasant surprise. A friend of mine told me to go check it out! There is good poutine and good Canadian Beer as well! Great service and I was unfortunately unable to go at night but I've heard the ambiance is awesome at night. During the afternoon there were a few groups and it was very chill. Played sports on all the TVs.

Nice place. Food was good, prices were OK. Screens are everywhere, so it was easy watching the champions league match comfortably. would come here again if I want to watch a football game

Lovely themed Canadian bat now owned by green king. Lots of sports to watch including ice hockey (obviously) food was nice but small , service was excellent . Good selection of beers. Toilets could have been cleaner.

Great place to go have fun with a gang or as a single person especially if you are Canadian Ex-Pats. Everything about this pub screams CANADA 🇨🇦 They show all the live Canadian sports, especially Hockey !! We love hockey 🏒😉 The atmosphere and decor is made to reflect a little bit of Canada 🍁. If you plan on going to celebrate Canada Day, you better get up early because it gets packed really fast. Located right in the heart of Convent Gardens & close to all the theaters 🎭 . The staff is really welcoming and polite like Canadians are known to be. A little home base for us Canadians. GOOD JOB 👏🏻

This is a delightful Canadian themed pub in Covent Garden. It is large with ample seating inside and out. They show many Canadian and US sports in addition to the usual favourites such as the English Premier league. In keeping with their theme they have plenty of Canadian drinks on show, I opted for Maple Leaf lager at £7.45. Their food menu continues that theme with poutine. Although I did not eat the food what I saw looked good and was reasonably priced for the area. The service was excellent and the barman and I did enjoy a sport related conversation. They do not sell cask beer and their whisky selection was not large, however they do sell Canadian whiskies. In summary a very good pub well worth a visit.

When I saw there is a Canadian restaurant here in the UK, I questioned if their poutine was authentic or at least even good. We decided to give this place a chance and we ordered a lot of dishes to properly try out the place. First of all, everything we ordered was better than the other but the poutine itself was exactly what I was looking for. Keep in mind I have been looking for some proper poutine outside of Canada for over 13 years now. Maple Leaf did not disappoint. Without trying to hype the place up, you cannot go wrong coming the Maple leaf if you are looking for some real authentic poutine. In addition to the poutine the rest of the dishes we ordered were great but hands down, the poutine stood out. Maple leafs is definitely the place to go for some good proper Canadian food here in the UK.

I went to the Maple Leaf with some friends for a beer after dinner on my trip to London. We’re from Canada so we figured it would be nice to go to a Canadian pub. I have been here before and never had any issues. As my friends and I walked in while talking and catching up, a security guard sitting at a desk in a corner ran after us and aggressively grabbed a grocery bag out of my friend’s hands. He had apparently been trying to say something to us but we could not hear him as it is a loud pub. He looked at us after he grabbed the bag and said “is there something wrong with you?”. He confiscated our bag filled with candies/lollies (which we brought from Canada to give to our English friend) and shook his head. Afterwards, I went to speak with him and explained to him how it’s not appropriate to speak to any customer like that and grab their personal items out of their hand as they were pretty shook up about it and he responded with “I’ve been doing this a long time” and said he did nothing wrong. The bartender overheard the conversation and was very kind and apologized on his behalf which certainly defused the situation. However, I would not recommend this place to anyone based on the horrible experience with the security. I have never even written a review before of a restaurant but I felt like something needs to be done to address such aggressive behaviour.

We went there because my girlfriend is Canadian and wanted to check out what they offered. She was excited that they offered some Canadian products eg. Local beers, Poutine, pickle backs and caesars. Worth a visit for Canadians looking for a small taste of home!

Booked in for lunch before watching back to the future musical and it was exceptional. Australian chap who served us was lovely, food was delicious and came out quickly and it was a nice relaxed atmosphere. Excellent place to eat and drink.

Lots of tvs with a multitude of sports, and the only place that does proper poutine in London that I've found so far. Will be back!!

We had lunch here and it was delicious! Karagge chicken was amazing and the chicken wings were perfect! The staff were really lovely and attentive and fast with service. 5 star customer service!. I’ve come up from Norfolk and when I’m back in London I will definitely pop in again!

Really nice atmosphere, colours, nice staff. Refreshing to hear some Canadian rock music rather than the usual Greene King rubbish, and poutine on the menu! I had to leave off a star because the gravy was a bit to thin. Poutine needs a good thick hearty gravy and this one was a little too watery.

Hands down best sports bar in central London. Staff are all on point, plenty of drink and food offerings

I recently visited the Maple Leaf Bar in London with the hopes of enjoying a late-night drink, specifically a Caesar, a Canadian favourite. Unfortunately, my experience was quite disappointing. I arrived at the bar around 10:45 PM on a Saturday, well ahead of their advertised closing time of midnight. However, to my dismay, I was met with a less-than-welcoming response from the staff. The front man rudely informed me that the doors had closed over an hour earlier, contrary to the information provided online which stated that they close at 12 AM on Saturdays. This discrepancy between the advertised hours and the actual operating hours left a sour taste in my mouth before I even had the chance to order a drink. The rudeness of the staff only compounded the frustration of the situation. A simple, polite explanation about the change in hours would have sufficed, but the dismissive attitude made the experience worse. To add to the frustration, when I asked to speak with the manager, he did not address me directly. Instead, he simply ushered at a band around his arm which I could not see clearly, forcing me to ask more than once for him to speak to me directly. As someone who works in hospitality for over 3 years, I know this level of service does not fly. It was very unfortunate that we did not get to try this place, as we were genuinely looking forward to experiencing what the Maple Leaf Bar had to offer. In conclusion, while I was eager to experience the Maple Leaf Bar and enjoy a Caesar, the poor customer service and misleading information about operating hours were significant letdowns. I would caution others to double-check their plans before heading to this bar, as my experience suggests they might not adhere to their advertised closing times. Based on this visit, I cannot recommend the Maple Leaf Bar.

Being from Quebec, I couldn't help but stop at this pub-restaurant which presents itself as being a spearhead of poutine in London. The employees, who were also bilingual, were fantastic. Real Canadians who know what they're talking about. Super friendly, they make you want to go back. The atmosphere wasn't that bad. We see inspiration taken from Canadian sports bars. The decoration is taken from authentic Canadian artifacts... BUT! I cannot ignore the fact that they have a collection of automobile plates of which Ontario is represented twice, but of which Quebec is absent!! What a scandal! We can't blame them for moving from cricket to the screen, although I would have preferred hockey match replays haha! As for "classic" poutine, the cheese curds seemed authentic, albeit faded. This is probably the best aspect of this poutine. The fries were not up to par and one might wonder where the sauce came from. In the end, it eats well, but is not yet at the level of an original poutine.
