Coya in City of London, Westminster

Came yesterday to celebrate my friend’s birthday and graduation! Food was excellent but the service was quite slow after having our drinks however it picked up after the birthday cake arrived! Overall loved the place and the food was delicious especially that chilli beef fillet! Everyone on the table was happy.

Very nice place with delicious food and good atmosphere. Perfect cocktail, I recommend this restaurant!

We went for dinner. The GF there is like a private room. We went down , and you cross the bar where i believe will be lively more toward the end of the evening into a seating area. The food was good and the service was very nice and always around. Try the seabass rossoto. And book in advance

Great staff member recommended fantastic mocktails to us - the spicy No-rita and the virgin Piña colada. I'm sorry i forgot their name but they were so helpful

The fish here was one of the best fish I’ve had in my life. I would definitely visit again just to try it again.

As seen on recent reviews, our party had a booking for 20:00 but were sat at 20:45. For a restaurant that is in Mayfair and charges the prices it does, the service should be above expected. Whilst waiting in the bar area, we were told the table would be ready in about 2 minutes, however it took another 25 minutes from that point. There is obviously an inherent issue here which doesn't ever get corrected, reading from.recent reviews. The waiter was perfect, however the bar stuff and reception (again noted on recent reviews) were unprofessional, not smiling not welcoming, unorganised. It is quite obvious an overhaul is required or extra training for reception and service staff. Unbelievable that no one has acted on this. I read reviews before attending Coya, thinking that other customers experience was a one off, but no, it was exactly as they said. We did however raise to the manager the issues in person, best way to approach the lack of service and professionalism. We will not be attending again, and Emma from the Coya team, I seriously hope you collate how many reviews on bad service there is recently and put together an action plan. Unfortunately I feel this will only get actioned once Coya Mayfair loses money, but with their current pricing it may be a while. I can only think that in time diners will know that there are other restaurants which are priced well and show better service and first impressions. Unbelievable for a post christmas dinner, for staff not to at least be honest on timeframes, and have no smiles on their faces. The security were more friendly, imagine that from a supposedly top class restaurant where each diner will spend a minimum of £100, our bill was £500 plus. A waste of time and money.

I was really disappointed, the restaurant was full of Italians who have nothing to do with Peruvian culture and don't care to learn it. The pretentious way bar manager spoke made me understand that all they want is for me to consume. I also noticed a lot of informality in the language for a restaurant in Mayfair. The hosts were focused on sharing gossip while speaking loudly in Italian, not even making the slightest effort to ask how your day was (not good for the salary that they are getting, not even close). They need to renew their staff because it seems like a mafia.

We had a reservation at 10:15 and until 11:00 pm waiting for the table. Last time I came 2019 and of course not gonna come again.

Highly recommended. Excellent food & service. Corn salad. Guacamole. Chicken skewers.

The atmosphere of the place is elegant, and most of the food we ordered is delicious, especially the steak

Outrageous service. Reservation at 23, they found us a table at 23.45. Every 5 minutes the staff kept telling us “in two minutess we’ll find a table for you. Because of this, they promised a discount on the bill that they never made. They even made us pay a round of drinks that they said they were “offering”. Portions were extremely small and taste wasn’t special. The waiter told us “one glass of wine won’t be enough for you.. take a bottle.”. Will never be back

Food was okay, but the service wasn’t. I am not sure how it is even possible to rush people out on a Wednesday night. A waiter brought us bill while we didn’t ask for it, and when we wanted to order more tea to finish the dessert, he refused to take it and said that we have to pay and leave as he needs this table. Wouldn’t recommend this place.

**Review for Coya Mayfair** I had high expectations for Coya Mayfair, but the experience was a complete letdown, largely due to the rude and unprofessional behavior of the staff. From the moment we arrived, the managers at the cloakroom and front desk downstairs made my wife and me feel rushed and unwelcome. Their attitude was condescending, and they treated us more like a nuisance than paying customers. Despite having made a reservation well in advance, we were forced to sit at the bar instead of the table we had booked. When we questioned this, we were told that our table had already been given to another couple. There was no apology or attempt to make things right until we complained. Suddenly, they "found" our original table and seated us there after all — a table they had just claimed was unavailable. The whole ordeal felt completely unnecessary and incredibly unprofessional. To add to the disappointment, the halal options on the menu were very limited. While the lamb chops were nice, they were absolutely not worth the £42 price tag. For a restaurant in Mayfair with such a reputation, you would expect much better service and value for money. Overall, the rude treatment and poor handling of our reservation ruined what should have been a pleasant evening. I wouldn’t recommend Coya Mayfair to anyone seeking good hospitality or a respectful dining experience. There are plenty of other places in London that offer better food, service, and value.

The hostesses at the desk where they take you to your seat were extremely rude and unprofessional. Even though we had pre booked they gave us a table at the bar and not the restaurant. After complaining they did not apologise and claimed our table had been given away. I then threatened to leave and suddenly a table was available. However when walking through the restaurant there was multiple tables available. The staff were not friendly and did not provide the experience for what you are paying. Extremely loud and unable to hear yourself talking let alone the company the you are with. At times we were very neglected by the waiters and had to keep asking multiple waiters for one thing. We sent some food back as it was not upto standard but the food was no where to be seen 15 minutes later and we already finished the rest. When asking for a condiment such as mayo the waiter said he can bring some chilli sauce not making us aware that this would cost £6 which is ridiculous for a little pot of sauce. Overall the meat was very nice however the whole experience started of negatively due to the hostesses attitudes and rudeness we will not be visiting again and would not recommend.

Stunning! Table of 4 had the tasting menu for lunch and we were bowled away by the food. The flavours are stunning and I couldn't have asked for a more amazing meal.

Nice cocktails, totally unique. The bar was tiny, crowded, busy but at £24 a cocktail there wasn't much wait to get served.

Bad service in reservations. The reservation was made at 11 pm and my reservation was handled very poorly. I was very dissatisfied with the experience. Please note that the full amount of £450 has been withdrawn from me

Been before and ordered from the a la carte menu, but their champagne and cocktails brunch? Phenomenal. DJ and performers were all stellar. But Maria? Maria who served us was incredible. So attentive, so kind. Can only hope when you go it will be her serving you. She is brilliant.

‏A very disappointing experience. The receptionist (thin lady) was extremely rude, lacked basic communication skills, and when I asked her to cancel my reservation because it was impossible for me to continue my evening at the restaurant, she handled it poorly.

I booked COYA Mayfair for my boyfriend’s birthday dinner, but it was a huge letdown. -Rude Staff & Rushed Service/ Poor Management: The staff had poor attitudes and constantly rushed us. For example, when we were barely halfway through the ceviche, the waiter tried to serve the main course. They seemed determined to make us finish the set menu as soon as possible, making the entire experience feel stressful. -Overpriced: Cocktails and appetizers were standard, but the mains were so salty that almost inedible. The tender stems were also burnt. -No Birthday Acknowledgment: Despite informing them, there were no greetings or gestures, which felt cold and dismissive. -Unpleasant Farewell: Staff didn’t say goodbye or even look at us when we left, including the front of house. The worst fine dining experiences I’ve had in Mayfair. Definitely overrated and not worth the hype.

Beautiful space with a great menu and excellent service! The restaurant has a great ambience, it’s both cosy and intimate but with a typical Mayfair vibe & atmosphere.

The Vibe is ecstatic! Dj was grooving and growing on us through out our experience. It’s Glitz & Glam & without attending COYA ! Your trip to London is not complete.

Le resto au super beau et magnifiquement décoré. Son bar est vraiment cosy. Le repas est délicieux par contre il est difficile d’avoir des explications sur les plats. Les vins sont horriblement chers pour la qualité et leur choix. Et c’est très très bruyant. Nous avons pris après un cocktail au bar mais là encore trop de va et viens , dommage nous y serions bien resté plus..

I love Coya but my last visit left a sour taste in my mouth. We were a group of 4 we ordered the tasting menu just over £100 per person. After desert we asked for 2 espresso they REFUSED to serve us the requested espresso because we had just gone over the allocated 2 hour time allocation !! How long does it take to serve 2 espresso

Food was really fantastic, fresh and delicious. However, the overall experience was let down by the service. Had to ask for a cocktail menu (waiter didn't ask us what we wanted to drink!?). Drinks did not arrive until after all starters and ceviches were finished. Water not refilled. Never asked if we would like any additional drinks. Waiter didn't explain the menu to us, so left feeling hungry afterwards as we ordered 2 starters, 2 ceviches and shared main. Could have used some recommendations for how many dishes to order as everything was quite small. Request for birthday celebration at dessert was ignored in the reservation. Was really let down by all of it, except the food which could not be faulted. Topped off by the audacity to request additional tip after 15% service charge was already included.

Wonderful authentic Peruvian food experience with incredibly helpful staff.

The ambience, services and the food were all worth it. So much that I came back the next week for another experience and I wasn’t disappointed. 👍

This is a great Peruvian restaurant. We visited on a Friday evening and it was busy, so be sure to make a reservation in advance. The service was prompt and friendly.

Unfortunately, the staff at the bar were not welcoming and never smiled. The hostess was also not very welcoming. The only welcoming staff member was our waiter. Food was really nice and well presented. Great entertainment. Unfortunately with unwelcoming staff, we didn’t not get to enjoy drinks, even when we were paying for them after dinner. I will be in two minds to recommend Mayfair branch, i have not had a bad experience with city branch

Good Peruvian place to go for dinner. Dishes are not so big, so you can try a couple of them. I would recommend the ceviches. Service was excellent.

We had a great meal here - really enjoyed it. HOWEVER Whilst the service was good and the staff very friendly service is added at 20% - you can to specify if you want this reduced to 15% which i still feel is very generous. You are then asked by the waiter whether you want to add additional service 'just for him' and suggested 15%. I have been 3 times, the same process each time which is very awkward to decline especially so with clients.

Top atmosphere, impeccable service.

Fabulous place. Beautiful unique style. Service was amazing friendly, engaging, making you feel like you had your own stunning cocktail bar with attentive cocktail waitress in your own home after returning from work. The food was authentic, distinctive and delicious. The wagyu fillet, the best I have ever tasted. Loved the evening I spent there.

I had my reservation for 22 00 pm and I arrived on time however I was told to wait and seated around 40 minutes after by then I was exhausted of standing also the staff wasn’t helpful and avoided to answer my questions . Great food but bad hospitality.

Excellent host, excellent service, ceviche seabass was chunky bland soaked in water, grilled sea bream was too salty and somehow soaked up in oil, lobster dumpling were too salty and watery, beef tataki was tasteless, no dessert as we didn’t want to risk it, wine list was too long and very pricey, cocktails were acceptable.

I love trying out all the high end restaurants and I’m almost always left feeling extremely underwhelmed as they’re generally high priced and low quality or tiny portions, however this is truly the first time I’ve been absolutely blown away by the food, service, atmosphere and just everything to do with this place. I only eat halal and no alcohol they were very accommodating and just really really tasty food.

A Unique Experience that became much better with the help of Pedro! All Choices were great, Especially Arroz Nikkei that was full of flavor!

Serían 5 estrellas, excepto que nos “animó” el camarero a agregar una propina - tal vez fue nuestra culpa por malentendido, pero asumimos que no se había agregado ningún cargo por servicio. Excellent food, great atmosphere. It used to be better, but still is great. Many mistakes today at the Halloween party. Delays in the drinks order. We also ordered the treasure chest of shots, but the pyramid came instead. The barwoman rushed to take the pyramid away from the bar leaving the shots only- unacceptable pub-like service from everyone. We have been going to Coya since years, but not sure if this place is more us anymore. The crowd is also quite debatable.

Un ambiente muy agradable y acogedor. La comida es genial tuvimos la degustación de chevice como experiencia familiar s ribeye, eso estuvo genial y no pudimos saltarnos el postre como las tres leches con pistachos y churros. ¡Una velada muy agradable y sabrosa!

Horrible experience at Coya Mayfair - please avoid. Horrifically overpriced, tiny portions of food, bill came to over £400. Food was cold. Staff forgot my dad's drink for an hour and starter and whilst they did correct this it was rather too late. Was there for a special occasion for my mum and felt very disappointed. Noisy bar with tables close together and not a proper restaurant. Overall, horribly overpriced food with terrible service - if you're a normal family looking for a special occasion to celebrate, do not waste your money here

Food was amazing the service though horrible also for that amount of money 600£ for a diner might aswell go Michelin star restaurants where the service will also be at the same level as the food.

We paid the bartender a ridiculously high amount for a mocktail and a tiny regular cocktail. The bar bill included a 15% s service charge and the bartender had marked an additional 10% service charge on the card. Then came the waiter in the restaurant. We had chosen when reserving the degustation menu and ticked no poultry for intolerances; we specified this to the waiter and he responded rudely that he is not sure the chef can do this although I tried to explain to him that it was the restaurant itself that allows for ticking this off the menu. He hurriedly left, brusquely picking up the menu and dropping my iPhone on the floor. He did not even apologise or pick it up, but tried to crack a bad joke. He left never asking us what we wanted to drink. The first dish we received was chicken! I complained to whom I was told was the manager (a more polite attendant) who changed our waiter and removed the drinks - a glass of wine and a non alcoholic gin tonic that we ended receiving half way through the meal - from our bill; this was less than the 15% service charge added for the bad service. Food was average. The fish in the ceviche was fresh, but the sauces in the 4 different variations were tasteless. Ambiance was not great either. Music was not good, there were a few large party tables that were literally shouting at times and felt more like a noisy overpriced fast food restaurant. My recommendation: Avoid unless you went to be ripped off by an over priced and mediocre meal in an unpleasant surrounding and served by bad waiters who seem on speed.

Loved it so much the first time I went back and really didn't. The fixed menu all arrived at once and long before the first white wine, which was then eclipsed by the cocktails that turned up at the end of the starters! The true picture is that the kitchen overrules the service and sets the pace, while the front of house is chaotically trying to keep up. I was exhausted trying to order wine, only to see the dish turn up 20 minutes before the wine I'd chosen to match it. Daft. Maybe it was just a bad day, but guys... the art of the craft is to have people smiling as they leave, not to wipe their arrival smiles due to the haphazard service. Food was good, and my wine choices were fabulous, but the provision of both failed me.

Disappointed by the reception experience today. My reservation was for 9 PM, and when I arrived early at 8:20 , I was asked to leave and return at 9. I waited outside only to see two tables being served before me. Eventually, I was offered a counter table despite arriving early. a huge shoutout to Jose Becerril for the amazing service! Your kindness made a big difference. Thank you!

Thank you Coya for an EXCELLENT meal and great service! I will definitely be returning, this place truly lives up to the reputation and expectations that have long been known for Coya. The Chilean sea bas is such a tasteful dish and the sea bass falls apart to perfectly. The waiter knew the menu well and had many recommendations. The guacamole is mixed right in front of you. The churros are truly the best in London, they’re soft and crunchy but not stale. The sea bass ceviche was light and fresh. The beef cuts were tender, although a tad too salty for me. On top my that the staff came out and sang happy birthday, which was a really nice touch. They’re very enthusiastic the way they sing, loved it. The food is great value (typical Mayfair prices) and we were all full up at the end of the dinner.

Many party restaurants don’t survive in the city. The reason this one has is that the food is consistently good and the vibe is always fun. Always glad to go back. Like the music and the DJs.

Come and enjoy a relaxing lunch or dinner. Beautiful place throughout. The bar is top tier. Staff is very nice and accommodating. Food is really well done, flavours are outstanding.

This place used to be better but now the food and the service isn’t really up for the standard and check price that Coya has. Staff is quite dismissive and doesn’t really know the etiquette of fine dining and the food is just average.

We will go again. It has become a tradition to visit one of their branches every time we travel to London. In this place, we have the chance to get to know the Peruvian cuisine better, which we discovered in a small place called Machi in Suadiye.

I love the vibe here, everyone is having a good time.Nice champagne, good food, what’s not to like?This is definitely a go to place for a celebration or even a couples day out.

The food and ambience were superb as well as the waiters. However, the ladies at the door and responsible for the seating were a necessarily stoic, unfriendly and borderline rude. They gave us a horrible table at the corner of the restaurant next to the kitchen and lacked proper manners when handing us our coats before leaving. She basically threw my jacket on the table for me to pick up.

Visited Coya recently and tried many dishes. All were exceptionally tasty and appealingly presented. We had a very good waiter and sommelier. The staff that kindly served the food were also great at explaining each dish. So all round a very enjoyable evening. When we got the bill and went to pay the waiter invited us to add a % on the bill “for the staff”. I’m not sure where the first 15% goes.

Went to Coya for dinner with friends. Group of five ladies. Lovely evening with great service. Food was delicious and the pisco sour too. Recommend.

The vibe here is nineties / noughties retro, love it! Food is always good and this time a new twist with a welcome party and canapés with bottomless champagne. After about 45minutes we were shown to our table and the music and live entertainment carried on along with the champagne and food being served. This is a great way to spend a Saturday brunch (12-4pm).

My Peruvian friend took me to Coya. She said this is a genuine Peruvian restaurant. That's right. The service is brilliant. The staff welcomed us with hospitality. The atmosphere was gorgeous. We could use any scene for business, celebration, or private. The food was fantastic. I understand why Peruvian food is one of the best cuisines in the world.

The food is good but not exceptional and the atmosphere is really good. However the let down has always been the service.. I’ve been coming here for years and supported the restaurant through Covid but everytime its the same thing.. one hour in and they start to nag you for the table back. Interrupting conversations multiple times just to hint they want the table back. I remember two years ago I brought a client to dinner and we spent 2K after a bottle of wine and the behaviour was still the same. Services always starts well and end up horrendous.

DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU HAVE AN ALLERGY!!!!! I never take the time to write a review but this place was horrible to me. I have an all nut allergy and I told the waitress about the allergy which she told me that shouldn’t be a problem but would double check. When she came back she asked if I was okay with cross contamination which I told her no. Next thing I know the manager comes out and takes my plate and cup away and states VERY rudely that they will not serve me any food or drink because of my allergy. He was not nice about it at all and didn’t offer any accommodations. You would think for an “upscale” restaurant they would be able to accommodate. I have never been basically kicked out for my allergy in my life before this place. So I repeat never ever come to this place with an allergy or just in general with how rude the staff is!

It has nice lounge vibe. We ordered everything possible from the seafood but i remember only crab tacos:). Desert was also good. Fondant but it’s called different in the menu.

Usually 10/10 last time was bad broken service kitchen talking too much some dish forgotten about. Manager rang and apologised endeavouring to make it better next time. We shall see

Had a meal as part of a group celebration, food was incredible with the waygu an absolute must!! The staff were very helpful and the atmosphere is very immersive.
