The Folly Bar in City of London, Westminster

Sehr schönes Restaurant und toller Bar. Wir waren begeistert vom Essen und diesem schönen Ambiente. Nach dem Essen gings dann noch an die Bar, das hat dann etwas länger gedauert weil wir einfach nicht nach Hause wollten. Wir werden bestimmt wieder kommen. Es empfiehlt sich unbedingt im Vorhinein zu reservieren.

Great food and ambience, lovely atmosphere. Loved the interior decor and the staff were great. Only let down was the loos which had a few loos that had been overloaded with toilet roll (in the bowl of the toilet) and I then needed to take a loo roll into the loo I used. This aside, it was a great lunch spot, and I’d love to go back in the evening!

After our booking at another venue was moved to The Folly with only 4 days notice, we could not be more grateful for the experience we received. A beautiful venue, great food, great drinks and the staff and manager was extremely accommodating and sympathetic to the stress we were caused by the last minute change of plans. The manager and his team went out of their way to make sure everything was so much easier for us so we could enjoy our experience at a The Folly. We really cannot thank you all enough and will definitely be back! Highly recommend this venue whether it’s a catch up with a friend or celebrating a special occasion. Could not get a course (drinks, children’s menu, meal) served without a mistake every step of the way and very slow service despite plenty of staff, which made us late for our next activity. Huge tour group was dining in but they were expected and we had no problem getting a table. Food ok, pretty decor. Never have seen so much Instagramming in a restroom. Out of several drinks.

Calamari was chewy, pasta wasn't cooked enough and prawns were tiny. On the plus, clean restaurant and very nice staff, especially Anjali

Visited with my two sons, the setting was really nice and inviting but that’s where the positivity ended, totally over priced for very basic food , one order of pancakes came out burnt and were similar to shop bought supermarket pancakes , ridiculously overpriced , the other two orders were small and tepid at best …staff came across as aloof and uninterested , if you want to get fleeced for average food , served by unfriendly staff , this is the place to go , we wouldn’t go back

A very nice location, very tastefully decorated and many different seating options with different ambiences. As some others have described, it is actually quite loud, we were there at lunchtime and sat a bit apart, so it was okay.

Looks fancy but that’s as fancy as it gets once you get beyond the front door and pay for your expensive drinks. Surly and non-engaging staff. Conveyorbelt tourist venue at its worst.

This time something was off. I guess the part when we were welcomed, lady was sat down and seamed not too happy to welcome. The seat was not checked and the chair and table top was dirty, crumbles. The waiter though was taking care. Food as always was good and cocktail also was nice.

Thomas was lovely. Recommended some great drinks and was really attentive. Will come again.

I have been to many restaurants in London. But Folly was something else. Its super busy which kinda gave a whole pub feel and the ambience and service were top notch. Special shot out to Anjli who gave her best even though restaurant was full.

It was all good till when I got kicked out because it was closing time. I had bought drinks for me and friends just few minutes earlier and not been able to finish it. They should advise people that the venue is closing soon so at least they can decide. Also when complaining with the bouncer, he told me that HE COULD ONLY SPEAK WITH PEOPLE AT HIS LEVEL. What a level I would say, really stupid statement and maybe also RACIST, RUDE and IMPOLITE.

We had the best time at The Folly doing a Mixology masterclass! Our hosts (Bobby and Eton) were great fun. They were very liberal with the drinks measures and honestly made our experience. The separate area was perfect too! Thanks again

The ambience is very nice at The Folly, but very loud, it's not always easy to have a conversation. Food was ok but nothing exceptional/special. The service staff was very courteous and friendly.

I didn’t get to the restaurant I wanted and on the way we decided to stop here. Noisy, the meat is very average, the menu is very simple. A very nice receptionist who brightened up the experience. There's a bar downstairs. It was fun there. If you come with a group, it’s quite bearable, but I didn’t like the kitchen at all.

Much more focused on the drinks than the food. Had a larger table and all the food came out at different times. Uncooked chips Sides were served 10 mins before the main so the main was eaten alone.

I felt kind of unfriendly visiting, I would say and on tp of that we pay an additional service with an attitude, grabbing the receipt -book from my hands I don't think so never coming back !!!

I couldn't comment on the food since we only went for drinks on a Thursday night, and it was full to the brim at some stages of the night and with a good mix of people. The security, especially Dave, was tight but polite, and there was a decent number of staff behind the bar, ensuring minimal wait times.

The ambience itself was really nice, but it was very loud in the restaurant and it was almost impossible to have a conversation. We had lunch there and it tasted great! The food came very quickly. All in all, this restaurant is definitely recommended.

Lovely place for a fun night out. Has atmosphere and attraction. It is rather loud though so not the best place for a catch-up!

We booked the private room for a business lunch (20 people). The room was beautiful, and they even put a cosy 'fireplace' video up on the big screen for ambience. We had the 3 course set menu, and the team were flexible on changes and many dietary requirements for this. Tom was great at managing the tables needs on the day, and worked around a speech mid-lunch also. Thank you so much for everything!

I had an opportunity to visit this place few times in 2011 and 2019 and I love that. Its really beautiful, friendly atmosphere, drinks are delicious.

Lovely decor and atmosphere and tasty cocktails but that’s where the good points end. I ordered the chicken skewers and mash. The skewers tasted nice but were cold. The mash was hot but was dry and flavourless, not even a little bit of gravy to go with it. The service was also slow for what was ordered

Food was amazing. I love great food and this place has it. Our wait Thomas was a gem and all of his suggestions turned out delicious! Warmly recommend the Fish and Chips (i didn't like it up until tasting it here!) And the Sticky Toffee Pudding. O.M.G. All of it. The environment is beautiful and great bustling energy, however the noise level is quite high. Fully recommend this!

What an excellent late lunch. The food was above standard and the waiter Thomas was fabulous and recommended the fish & Chips , and the sticky toffee pudding. Both were delicious. 5 stars all round.

I had a pleasant experience with the atmosphere and service at the restaurant. However, I felt that the food did not meet my expectations. Nonetheless, I decided to try their Cosmos Cocktails and was pleasantly surprised by The Saturn and The Neptune cocktails which I absolutely loved! Despite the food not being up to my standards, I would recommend this place for its great cocktails and nice ambience.

Its a good restaurant cum pub for an informal evening with mates.

As a large party of 35 we were asked to order food in advanced which is understandable. However our food arrive 50 mins after we arrived some was undercooked, some was cold and some was over cooked. Despite complaining we were offered a pathetic apology and the manager seemed surprised we were not prepared to pay the service charge. Very disappointing.

We stopped in here for lunch on a day out in London. The menu was varied and looked interesting. I had the winter rainbow bowl salad and it was really tasty, but just not very big. It could have been just a bit larger to fill me properly after a morning of walking. My husband had the vegan tortellini and thought it was flavourful and spiced just right. He isn’t usually a veggie person so this is a compliment. We both used the toilets, located downstairs where there is a full bar. I loved the decor and found it quaint.

Portions were not very large but the food was delicious and AJ the perfect host who made our evening perfect

The ambiance and music are delightful, though the food could be improved. Nonetheless, spending a night here overall is enjoyable.

Atmosphere when you're actually ALLOWED inside is good. Buzzing. Friendly staff. Nice vibe. The fact the door men after 9.30/10pm on a Thursday decide you are not suitable to be allowed in is a bit much. Didn't know this place was partners with the 5* ritz hotel in which you're looked up and down and unless you're A. An attractive girl in their young 20s B. A guy who dresses like they money. We're not allowing anymore entry and then allowing more entry is just a pathetic excuse for 'your sort is not welcome'. Trying to be a place you really aren't is not a good look FYI.

Very very loud (we could nor hear each other at the table) , our waiter was quite iritated and agressive...the food was average. Fish was good but salad tasteless...nice interior though

This is a very classy venue with large windows and high cei;imgs set over two floors. A Nice spacious bar that has a large bar area and seating area for dining or just to enjoy drinks from the drinks menu. I didn't eat on this visit but would happily do so at some point.

We visited this place today, and our first impression was good, but then the circus began. They gave us the menu, and my friend and I liked the deal, a meal and a cocktail for £15. She chose squash soup, and I asked for fish pie. By the way, it was also in the regular menu for a different price (about £17, without a drink). When I ordered, the waiter said that it was not available for the deal, and said that there was exactly the same one in the regular menu, but without the deal. So I ordered schnitzel (it was also included in the deal). I also asked for water, which was on all the tables except ours. She took the order and left. Seven minutes later she came back and said that they ran out of schnitzel too. I immediately ordered a pie with chicken and mushrooms. She said “it’s not on the discount”, which I didn’t mind. She brought the cocktails, I asked for water again, because I was very thirsty. A couple of minutes later she brought water, poured me and my friend a quarter of a glass, took the carafe with water and left. We waited for the order for 32 minutes. My friend liked the soup, my pie was not bad, the mash was not very tasty, and the gravy was bland. In the end, my friend paid for the meal and Aperol £16, and I paid for the meal and Aperol £33. It’s not a lot, but the “lack of schnitzel and fish pie”, which supposedly exist, but for a different price, seems like a rip-off. This place is not worth your visit. If you need to increase the average check, do it so good, so customers would want to come back to this place, not to avoid it. Don’t make deals that don’t exist. You are destroying the connection with your customers, by loosing their trust. We only stayed because my friend was very hungry. We won’t be back.

The Folly was a good experience, but not one I'd say was exceptional. There was nothing to complain about, but for what I got, there are several other places that do it better. I had calamari to start and steak frites for my main. This was accompanied by a raspberry mojito. The calamari was cooked and seasoned well, and of course the lime adds a needed bit of zest. The steak was cooked medium as requested but I didn't find it had much flavor. I wouldn't go so far as to say it was bland, but it also wasn't impressive. Very standard cut of meat. The mojito was as expected. Overall, a satisfactory meal, but if someone wanted these specific food items for dinner, I must say I wouldn't send them to The Folly. I will say however that our servers were excellent. Polite, attentive and just overall pleasant. Highlight of the evening.

Very Good Atmosphere and crowd, but food is not worth the value. Super location 👌 and good menu choices. Probably french cuisine was appreciated however food need customization based on preferred taste. I got good option for vegan but the quantity was insufficient.

The service was terrible, the waiter did not know the menu and he brought us the bill immediately after he took our dinner plates, without asking if we want something else. This was at 9:30 pm and they advertised they are open until 11 pm. They put their lights on forcing us to go, just a bad experience. Gin tonic was horroble, I asked for double, they brought a single one of their local house gin, it tasted like water. I will not return to this place.

We attended this venue for a company Christmas lunch and we sadly will not be attending again after our experience. The area in which our tables were seated was not adequate space for our party and number of guests, meaning that a lot of staff members were cramped and uncomfortable and complained of being back-to-back with another Christmas party going on behind them. I was under the impression that we would have our own section as advised by yourself and I had sent in another request to ask for the downstairs area, which I had already asked during our meeting. Some even complained they could not get out to use your facilities either. Another complaint was how loud it was in the venue, although this is something you cannot control yourself, none of our staff members could speak and catch up which is what we were hoping to do at this event due to our hybrid working, this would have been a great opportunity to catch up but hardly anyone could hear one another and our CEO was not able to give her annual speech. A few of our guests complained the food to be ‘mediocre’ and ‘not to my expectations’ or ‘served at the right temperature’, which is very sad to hear. The veggie beef wellington, some complained was just a beetroot with a load of pastry and gravy and not enjoyable at all. Some complained of the portion sizes! Lastly, everyone felt they were being rushed out of the Christmas lunch. One staff member asked everyone to wait over at the bar, then another staff member asked everyone to go downstairs, and another had asked everyone to move out of the way, whilst they were having Christmas drinks and, in the end, most were so fed up with being told where to stand they left the venue. It certainly wasn’t what I had imagined or expected, had I of been there then I would have ensured it ran smoother and made last-minute changes where possible, but I am very disappointed to hear of the complaints that were made after the Christmas lunch and it was only until after we had received so many complaints we brought it to the attention of management. I was informed that it was the busiest time of the entire year, but I feel that it was a case of being understaffed to meet the demand and needs of not just ourselves, but everyone. All of this was brought to the attention of management. However, sadly nothing was done to rectify the situation apart from being offered a bottle of wine and a meal for 3 which is hardly fair given it was nearly the entire booking that was affected. Sadly, upon looking at previous reviews over the past month and I am still receiving negative feedback a month later, we won't be returning for another Christmas meal and what was offered was hardly fair.

Celebramos la Nochevieja allí en nuestra estancia londinense. Había ambientazo y mucha alegría. Atención exquisita por parte de todo el personal. Tuvimos una mesa especial para tomarnos las uvas en hora española. Lo pasamos realmente bien.

Christmas Dinner menu for 2023 was good. However, portion size for the main meal was poor .

Came here with my family the food came out reasonably fast but that doesn’t make up for the fact there were dirty plates cold food we had a medium rare steak it came out pretty much still walking is how raw it was the chips were lumpy and the peas were hard like they were frozen from the pound shop really expected more from a nice looking restaurant. Oh yeah and they brought out chicken to two vegetarians smh

This restaurant has it all. Very kind, smiling and professional servers. Very good value for money. Really nice Christmas decorations. I highly recommend.

Really loved the food, services and atmosphere. I was there to celebrate my friend's birthday. They made her day really fantastic with singing and drum rolls. We really loved it. Thanks to Costa, Andrea, Ricky, John and Mariana, they made our day really memorable.

What a farce. Tried to book a table and was told via email someone would Confirm …… 4 days later no confirmation so I rang up. A rather surly lady told me that whilst they had space they were waiting to see what bookings were coming in before confirming other reservations. Figure that….. a restaurant which has availability but won’t confirm it until a better proposition comes along. Then she told me someone would get back to me….. you guessed it …. A further seven days later and radio silence. Seems Iv gone to the shadow realm as other customers were more worthy it seems. For business meetings and staff get togethers I will surely take my business elsewhere moving forward. Never again.

Had my work Christmas party over there. I was overly shocked by the bad service and awfully disgusting/tasteless food! Even the cocktails were too sweet and low on alcohol! I do not recommend this place at all!!

Went for a xmas meal with the lads.. really cool spot..the food wasn't the best ever.. but overall experience it was worth it.. Nice bar downstairs and good music! Definitely would recommend!

Really had a great time there. Great vibe and the atmosphere is just awesome.

I'd like to start off by saying how lovely decorated the venue was as a lot of effort was clearly put into the festive decorations and it really looked beautiful. I would also like to express how attentive and kind the staff were as they hosted us very well. However, having paid a premium price for the dinner, we were disgusted at the quality of food. The soup starters that some of the guests had were supposedly tasty but they expressed that the dish needed bread and when they asked for bread, they were told that the "bread" was inside. The croutons that were found in the soup were soggy and tasteless. The salmon in the other started was nice but the bread tasted like it was out of date and stale and the ricotta and bread started was also tasteless and I thought I was going to break my teeth with how stale the bread was. The main course of fish was nice. However, everyone else who had the turkey said the whole dish was the worst thing they have ever tried. The turkey looked like a dry quorn fillet, tasted bland with no seasoning and was hardly edible. The vegetables and stuffing that went along the turkey were crunchy, undercooked and tasted like a Lidl microwave meal. It was a real mood killer and the more we ate, the more silence there was around the table trying not to dampen the evening. Not a single person enjoyed anything that was served on that plate. We did not want to complain on the night as the staff were very nice and I know how humiliating and demotivating it can be working in the hospitality industry when someone makes a negative comment. Nevertheless, I was keen to contact you because the food on our plate was below par and something I would feed my dog. I don't want the blame to go towards the chef's as I know how hard they work and how the kitchen can be a toxic place when a customer complains. I am sure all those in the kitchen are working incredibly hard this festive season. However, the fact that you had our food orders well in advance, we expected a better meal. This not only ruined our nights and has made us not want to return to your establishment but has also left us with empty wallets and a sheer dissatisfaction since we were really looking forward to this evening. Sent management an email 10 days ago and completely ignored.

Great Ambiance, good service but the food lacks quality. Its ok, but not great. The food and the drinks are slightly on the expensive side considering the value they offer.

Amazing Christmas Atmosphere and the team squeezed us in a lovely table next to the tree. I had the Turkey Lunch and my colleague had the cornish cod, it was fabulous. And PROPER tea in a pot with a strainer. The buzz is palpable, it really is a place to celebrate.

Great service, Bobby was even kind enough to bring us extra food at the end of the evening.
