The Manzil in East Staffordshire

Pleasant staff, quick service, great food. They do not have an alcohol license but offer a good range of soft drinks and I noticed other patrons had brought their own alcoholic drinks

The staff are friendly and very accommodating, nothing was too much trouble. The food delicious, and the portions are generous. Will definitely visit again.

I placed an order for delivery aware that the delivery time is listed as 45-60 minutes. After 2 hours I phoned the restaurant. They told me that my order was not in the kitchen '..so it's on its way!' After waiting a further hour my food still hadn't arrived. I was unable to get through on the phone as the line was continually engaged. So, I drove to the restaurant and they finally admitted that my order had been missed. They did apologise and I received 2 poppadoms as a token gesture. They were surprised that I asked for the 'delivery charge' to be refunded but they did give me £2. Food was ok but not good enough to make me want to go back. I learned the hard way that I should have gone to Gurkha again as their curries are AMAZING (although they don't cook the meal that I was looking for on this occasion).

We were invited to this restaurant by a friend who’s been visiting for years. We were blown away by the food and service - the staff could not do enough for us, and the food was absolutely delicious and plentiful- and reasonably priced. We were really impressed. The restaurant does NOT serve alcohol… and I’m unsure if one can take one’s own - worth checking before you go.

Food was delivered via just eat. Chicken korma x2 keema nan and keema rice was absolutely flawless. Well done manzil definitely order again but will order direct with 25% off rather then just eat.

Really enjoy coming here with friends as the atmosphere is friendly and service very good. The spacious restaurant makes is easy to take your time to enjoy the company of your friends, without feeling we are being rushed away. Food often excellent, an occasional blip and this would be rectified if we asked. No dessert choices, which is sometimes a disappointment, but mostly a relief as it avoids unnecessary calories and sugar! Thank you, Manzil.

Well we booked and was looking forward to this,greeted well but busy and we we were asked to sit on a table with the light in ceiling not working ,after some discussion we got moved. Waiters seemed overwhelmed by one large booking and forgot about us. Took ages to order a starter . The food came over seasoned with salt and food was not enjoyable. The guy at the till could not find our bill and we had to tell him again what we had. The whole think was massively overpriced and not welcomed and served in a timely manner. I would under no circumstances go back As a whole awful

An absolute shocker of a visit for our family of 6. The food, when it finally came, was good to be fair. But the service? Wow. Why take a booking for a table of 28 people when your kitchen and staff are clearly not geared up for that level? And then one waiter was, and genuinely, busy for twenty (20) minutes as the group was paying separately at the end. A real disappointment. Shall not be back.

We visited tonight and had such a wonderful meal. The food was so fresh and tasty. The prices were really reasonable and you can bring your own alcoholic drinks. The waiters were attentive and the facilities were clean and tidy. Thank you for a great evening!

Always looks good from the outside so we thought we would give this restaurant a go. Wish we hadn’t. More like a crèche with kids running around everywhere and we couldn’t hear each other speak. It was so cold inside too. Food was just warm after the hour wait for it. With apologies from staff saying they have to sort deliveries out first. Will not be returning.

Visited on the evening of 4th October. This is always our go to restaurant. The service is very good and we're always made very welcome. I love the space in side as it doesn't feel like you are crowded. The food is really delicious and I have tried a good variety of items on the menu. If you can't finish your meal you can have it boxed to take home with you. I always finish it! If you love a good meal out then go here.

I ordered through their website, it was my first time trying their food yesterday and I'm saddened to say that I was very disappointed. I ordered bhindi bhaji (it looked and tasted as if only contained oil), desi lamb curry (again very oily and meat was quite chewy and not as soft as I would have liked it to be) and aloo palak (had no flavour what so ever). I will not be ordering from here again.

We have just returned home after a lovely meal at the Manzil Gold. Abdul, met us as we walked in and was very welcoming, we explained it was our first visit since the change of management. We need not have worried, there were still some familiar favourites on the menu along with new dishes. I tried one of the new dishes, recommended by Abdul and was very pleased. My husband had an old favourite and said if anything it was even better.I would certainly recommend giving it a try.I'm already looking forward to our next visit, they do a buffet on Sunday until 9pm, which we might try next time, great value at £9.95.

My wife and i have been to every Indian restaurant in the area and to us this is one of the best. Other places are ok but after a while have disappointed us. Since the new team took over and had the place redecorated it is certainly improving all the time. The Sunday buffets are great value if you have a decent appetite and the currys off the menu can be made to suit your taste also, so it is worth mentioning this when ordering. We like the fact that we can take our own wine and parking isnt a problem.Friendly staff and atmosphere. Top Marks.!

Went here to try it as not been for years! Won’t be going again either ! Out of the 4 of us there was only 1 meal that didn’t taste watery. On top of this it cost £14 for 4 soft drinks , 1 of which was lime and soda, since when did a shot of lime cost £3.50 ?!

Went there recently. We’ve gone to Bilash a lot and thought to give Manzil a try. It doesn’t really compare well. The staff are fine and the place itself looks great. Bit annoying that the popadoms are offered but the onion/sauce tray costs an extra £2.80 which other places wouldn’t charge for. The curry’s are presented well but they don’t have the same kick and flavours that you’d want. Other little things like no after dinner mints provided. I know that’s only a small thing.

We have been going to the manzil for a long time now and would not go anywhere else. The restaurant, the staff, the food has all been turned around, into fine dining, since it changed management. The presentation of the food, and the taste is unbeatable we kniw this as curry connesures of 60 years. The staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome and im glad Ollie stayed as he is a first class waiter. Along with bringing your own alcoholic drinks, it just got better with Wednesday night as a special night where you can get 3 courses for £11.95 and every Sunday there is a fantastic buffet, which changes each week to add variety and eat as much as you want to. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough and praise Abdul and Gias for making this curry house the best!!

My friends and I went to the manzil gold on the 21st of October and experienced a very pleasant evening. The cleanliness of the restaurant and the food was top notch. The atmosphere too was nice. The managers have really breathed new life into a place that needed it. I will be returning to the manzil gold soon hungry for more.

As regular customer s to the Old Manzils we were very interested in what the new MANZIL GOLD would be like . Well we need not have worried , it was as good but different! New menu, but the owner who was a chef himself told us the if we had wanted something from the Old menu he would be happy to arrange it. We took his advice and had a super meal. Can't wait to go again.For us Manzils has always been the best , now's we are happy to say Manzil gold is now the best as long as it's consistent. Service aS good and t h e New de or very smart.

I visited this place first time with a group of friends and we were very disappointed. The whole experience wasn't the best because of the new owner. We didn't feel like we had enough time to choose meals, the owner was pushing to do it quickly knowing that some of the friends aren't familiar with Indian cuisine. It was irritating even more as the place wasn't busy, we were the first guests. I would suggest please be more aware of customer needs, provide advice and simply be welcoming.

From the minute you walk in the customer service is extremely good, making you feel very welcome. The menu gives a good selection of dishes and the food was delicious. Lovely evening out with friends, will definately be back.

Went along with a friends. Recently refurbished, so we thought we would try it out. From booking to leaving this was a pleasure. Some great new dishes along with regular favourites we all found something to like. Bring your own beer and wine, but a great selection of alcohol free drinks are also available. Food is fresh, aromatic and tastes really good. Prices are very reasonable. However the dining experience suffers from pushy, arrogant and patronizing owner. I think the restaurant will be better of if the owner leaves the customer contact to his staff, who is nice and friendly.

Staff was very rude to women. And pushy with order. Place is in very good location, food was amazing but I'll never back for atmosphere reason.

We have used the Manzil for around 30+ years ( when it was down in Bargates.) With so much choice for eating out we didn't go a lot in resent years, we went there a few weeks ago with friends and I have to say WOW! really good, food is fabulous , service excellent nothing is to much trouble . My all time favourite is lamb vindaloo and they do brilliant job of it . We have been a lot recently and in fact are going tonight! We have eaten a lot of Indian food over the years and trust me this is a 1st class restaurant.

Since the change in ownership in July 2019, the ambience, decor and washrooms have all been significantly improved and service remains attentive and not overbearing. The aspect that has not changed is the quality and variety of food served, albeit through a slightly enlarged menu, with some new and interesting additions like the Jal Jul. I paid 3 times the price of last nights curry for very similar quality food at a Michelin starred curry restaurant in London this week. Well done Abdul Muhit and your staff!

Having been long term diners at the original Manzil we were interested to see the restaurant makeover and try the new menu. We were very impressed, the dining area seems to have more room and has a luxurious feel. The old toilets have at last been completely removed and are now ultra modern and clean in keeping with the new modernised restaurant. The food at the old Manzil was always good although we thought the quality had slipped towards the end. The food and service is now excellent and the new dishes are well worth trying, our only slight disappointment was the portion size of the starters which are much smaller than they used to be. We will definitely be returning on a regular basis will be recommending the new Manzil Gold to our friends.

We have used Manzil for 15 years (from when it was the last outpost in a derelict shopping mall). The food has always been outstanding with lots of choices not seen in other indians.

I visited the Manzil Gold on a busy saturday evening with a large group of my work colleagues. Seeing as though it was busy I expected there to be some delays...however food was served quickly and boy oh boy did it taste FANTASTIC. Every dish we had was super tasty and we had the new shahi chicken dish which was a definote hit amongst the group that we had to order more. Will be visiting again for sure!

We visited the new Manzil Gold recently on a friday night and they welcomed and seated us despite not having a reservation. We opted for the banquet meal comprising of poppadoms, mixed starters to share, a main from the a la carte menu, rice and a naan each. The food arrived promptly and was delicious. The portion sizes were more than adequate, in fact we had to take the remainder of the food home with us as we were too full to finish it! The interior was lovely and the service was very good. I would eat here again and recommend it.

Visited Manzil Gold yesterday evening. It has been completely refurbished recently. Greeted immediately shown to our to our table. Table looked lovely with crisp white table linen and gold folded napkins in the glasses and menus waiting. New menu slightly more expensive we thought but the quality of the food was good and delicious. It is still a cheap night out as you can still take your own alcohol, but not soft drinks. The service was attentive and the new manager who welcomed us said if we needed any of the dishes explaining he would be happy to do so. Good choice on the menu. Service not rushed and after the main meal hand cloths offered to clean hands. Asked several times if we were happy with the food too. Toilets very clean and looked impressive after a full makeover. Our party of four all enjoyed their meal, plenty of good quality meat and fish in the dishes we chose. We will certainly be going back and can recommend.

As a regular customer who came here during the days of the original ‘Manzil’, I can say that someone who would be somewhat sceptical as to how much the quality of the food has changed will be very impressed.

This newly refurbished restaurant offers great food and service at a competitive price. The staff are friendly , efficient and willing to accommodate any dietary requests.We received a warm welcome and the food was superb we will be returning soon ,thoroughly recommended

Fantastic setting and refurbishment with excellent service, The food is great. I have been going to Manzils for 45 yrs and wasn’t sure what it was going to be like under new Management but definitely not disappointed. We have been at least 6 times since it was reopened and have enjoyed the quality of the food and the surroundings. We will definitely be returning ( most weeks)

Went for a meal out with my friends and I was very impressed at how the decor was done, as soon as we walked in, we we're greeted with a warm welcoming from the director. The service was excellent and the food was absolutely on point! Definitely will be coming back!

Went there yesterday and didn't know what to have so we asked for a recommendation. The guy servicing us was director and recommended some curry blends that he personally created. They might of been some of the best curries we've ever eaten.

Had ordered a take away. Hour later was delivered. Very poor. Had starter which was only as I could describe as dog meat. Nann burnt chips anaemic mushrooms tinned and curry only 6 bits chicken. Do not waste your hard earned money here
