Sadly this hotel has now closed and is being transformed into a dental surgery . It will be sadly missed after years of providing good family wholesome meals coupled with great and personal service. Thanks to all concerned.

Husband took me for lunch. I decided on the cod, homemade chips & peas, with tartare sauce, which I would say was homemade. Cod you could tell was fresh & freshly battered, enjoyed. Husband went for ham, proper cooked ham, lots of slices, 2 fried eggs & homemade chips, he says he enjoyed his also.

Thought we would try the manor restaurant for a meal as it has recently employed a chef who is quite well known locally for his home cooked quality meals. The menu was quite extensive and we were not disappointed with our choice, it was all delicious well done to Dave. I am sure the manor will see a big increase in diners as their reputation grows as one of the best local restaurants in the area.

They weren't busy which was a surprise. Nice choice of food and a good selection of vegetarian dishes considering the menu was not that extensive. But it was great not to just gave a choice of lasagne...

The manor is our local pub & we visit frequently. We had quite a few meals there but found ourselves complaining too often that the food wasn't great and decided not to eat there again, wich was a shame being our local pub. On hearing that there was a new chef, we decided to try the specials one evening last week & we were not disappointed. The food was amazing, enjoyed by us all & we are really looking forward to eating there again & more often.

We booked for our Christmas Dinner here on Christmas Day. The bar was very lively and at first we had been allocated a table by the bar but after asking to be in the dining area, we were directed to a table by the other diners. I started with potted shrimp. It was tasty and came with 3 small pieces of toast. Main course was turkey roast. I enjoyed mine but the turkey really should have been sliced a lot thinner. My wife left some turkey as it was just too thick. There was plenty of veg to accompany the turkey roast. My final course was traditional Christmas pudding. It was a really nice pudding. Plenty of fruit and nuts and nice and moist. Good choice. The staff were very attentive and there was a good selection of drinks at the bar. For the price, it was a good value Christmas Dinner.

Had lunch at this location recently. Tables were sticky or tacky, not a good sign. Waited ages for food to arrive and had to leave some fish on the plate for the first time ever. Totally over cooked, almost mushy. Went with friends and all decided that we had to give it a try, but it will be a one off I'm afraid.

Booked a table for 7.30pm earlier in the day. Arrived to find a note on a table with my name saying reserved. Menu had a good variety to choose from. 3 of us ordered steak, all to be cooked differently, and 1 ordered trio of sausages with mash and veg. My steak was excellent, cooked just how I wanted it, chips were good as were the mushrooms, tomato and onion rings. The sausage meal did not have the veg as ordered but once this was pointed out the Manager was quick to respond and this made up for the error. There was live music, 'The Fine Southern Gents' playing that night who were really good. It all made for a very good night out. Would go there again for sure

Ownership and staff is everything when it comes to a decent pub/restaurant.Me and my mum went along to the maor in the Summer as we were told the food was good quality. We were disappointed with the food.A few weeks later we went back to the manor and met up with some friends. The food was a bit better that time around and I had the steak and ale pie. It tasted nice but the pie was served in a dish and when the pie, or lasagne, is served in a dish, it means that the filling will be runny and sloppy. Every time I have a lasagne at a pub it is always served in a dish. I prefer to have my lasagne as a slice that has been put straight onto the plate, like what my mum would do. The filling in her lasagne is never runny or sloppy. Me and my family had dinner at the manor last month and the food had improved. My mum chose not to have the home made chips as in the past they came out floppy and hardly cooked but she now regrets it. My Dad had home made chips and they looked much nicer. I had a pie and it was not served in a dish so I was pleased with that indeed. And the pie was completely surrounded by a pastry case which is good cos the pie I had last time just covered the top, that is not a proper pie.The pie I had this time around was a pork and apple pie and it tasted very nice. Only thing was it was quite big, I couldn't eat it all but it was well worth the money :).

this hotel has recently been refurbished, and whilst can only comment on the bar / restaurant area which is extremely clean and welcoming.we phoned to book a party of 9 and within 20mins our table was ready. the proprietor made us all welcome, and helpful with the 4 children all under 10.the food whilst we had to wait a while it was obviously freshly prepared and cooked and excellent in the quality and quantity. if you are looking for a great change from the standard chain carvery couldn't recommend higher.the bill when we had it was we all thought very reasonable for what we had.

As it had recently been refurbished we thought we would go and give it another chance. It's not great writing a poor review, and I wouldn't want to deter someone sampling it for themselves, but hopefully it will help with improvement. The first problem is getting past the crowd sitting at the bar. There were no menus on the table, so you had to queue at the bar to get a menu. The menu clearly says 'homemade chips with skins' but what arrived on the plate was an absolute mess. All different sizes, some less than matchstick thin looking like the bottom of the frier had been scooped up.. Left most of it on the plate. The waitress asked if we needed anything else and we asked for mustard which arrived a few minutes later - along with the steak knife which was missed earlier. The salmon fishcakes didn't have any taste of salmon. We overheard other customers talking about catch of the day being sea bass - but the 'specials' blackboard had nothing on it. Pity, we would have loved the sea bass. But when we ordered, the waitress was also busy serving the drinkers and did not mention any specials.Could probably sum it up as average. Pub grub with restaurant prices. They have a good sized 'restaurant' area, all looking very smart - but something missing. Maybe background music perhaps. The outside area is excellent for smokers and drinkers in the sun.We were not over impressed, but in fairness, when we spoke to other people later that evening - they had visited and had a good experience. So it just shows it could be good or bad, depending on how they perform on the night.Won't be going back there unfortunately.

I have been here twice recently, since the new management have taken over. The place has been given a spruce up and I have to say the food was beautiful. I visited with 3 friends the 1st time and this weekend with 8 family members and both times everyone's food was spot on. Delicious, home made pub grub. The menu is superb and I can personally recommend the burgers and sausage and mash. The seasonal veg and cauliflower cheese were lovely! The service was great and nothing was too much trouble. I will most certainly be back, I have also recommended to many family members and friends being very local to us :-)

We were really looking forward to the reopening after closure for redecorating. The meals were always good pub fare with a nice selection on the menu. What can I say - extremely dissapointing. The menu selection was very limited and extremely pricey. I had sausage and mash with Vegs (£8+). The veg was microwaved to within an inch of spontaneous combustion - I suspect it was left over from lunchtime. My husband had roasted ham -tasteless with a huge vein of inedible gristle through it - with 2 fried eggs - one served broken - and cold peas.(£7+). 1 glass of wine £5.10 and 2 pints of extremely watery Guiness. I am happy to pay the price for good food but unfortunately this fell far short. An experience to be missed in future!!

Went here for Wednesday lunch with my parents who had eaten here before. The pub was empty which was a bit disconcerting but we needn't have worried. Very good choices on a two for £12 menu including several for us non meat/fish eating vegetarians. I had veggie lasagne which was freshly cooked and served with a few chips, garlic bread and salad. All four meals were delicious. The bar area is big and possibly a bit 80's but clean and pleasant to be in. Staff were friendly and attentive without being OTT. We will definitely go again and have it in mind to try the curry for a fiver available Wednesday 6-9pm.

Was visiting this hotel the weekend of my sons wedding, as him the groomsmen and the bridesmaids were all staying there, on arrival we were greeted with the grumpiest manager/owner and it only got worse as the evening went on. We spent a lot of money behind his bar, then to spend alot of money on food, which was bog standered, my mum ordered a bacon sandwich which took over and hour and a half to make, when asked how long the food would take we got a reply of ' there is only one chef on' surely knowing there was a big party booked in you would be prepared. The manager/owner was that grumpy that he even grumbled about my message tone. The Bar had no atmosphere in it what so ever, there was no music and hard seats. Once eaten our 'cold' food we were told to leave as the manager/owner started turning all the light out, we explained to him we were waiting on taxi's as we had two elder ladies with us, however the manager/owner just continued to throw us out into the cold, damp night to sit outside, and then turned all of the outside lights off, so we were sat in the dark waiting for 30 mins for a taxi with two ladies over the age 80!! when we complained to the manager/owner he told us he didnt give a flying [--] (his words not mine)! worst place i have ever stayed and WOULDN'T recommend to anybody, there are much nicer places in Gosport!
