Bagged a dinner table in the warm and cosy bar area which had a roaring fire. Friendly welcome from the staff and a good atmosphere with plenty of locals, and a tug-of-war team from a neighbouring village. Food and drinks good again, particularly the gammon which was a winner amongst the group. Well worth a visit and a place we will be revisiting when around Hulme End. Dog friendly too.

Excellent service, welcome, accommodation, pub and fantastic food. We went for a weekend away to relax for our wedding anniversary and a 60 th birthday, do not plan on weather system Bert joining us. The room was clean, warm and had everything you need for a stay, in a converted building across from the pub. The pub was dressed for Christmas and the dining room and bar area was very clean with roaring fires. There was a very small issue with the weather on check out morning due to weather system Bert, that was handled so well by the staff. Last but not least the food Amazing well thought out meals cooked to perfection, already planning our return without Bert to explore to area better

Decent range of beers, good pub grub menu at reasonable prices. Pleasant staff and the food was hot, fresh and very decent portions. Gammon was lovely as was the steak and ale pie with plenty of gravy and the chips. Roaring fire and very pleasant atmosphere. Well worth a visit if living close by or visiting the area. Dog friendly and plenty of parking around the back.

After a day out hiking my friend and I were looking for a place to eat near our campsite for the evening, I found this place on google maps and phoned them to book out dinner. When the lady answers she was very unkind and sounded moody but I just ignored it.😞Upon entry to the pub there’s a little reception, where I was ignored for 20 mins before being told “you need to go to the bar” Then I went to the bar where I explained we had a table booked and the woman (who was clearly the one on the phone) was very rude before sitting us down. After about 15 minutes of waiting for someone to come over and take ever out drinks order… we walked out. This place is also very dirty and the carpet stinks🤢. I do not recommend.

Our family of 9 booked here for dinner whilst we were staying at the campsite across the road. We pre booked which made our order easier. We also went for lunch and drinks as well as breakfast. We all enjoyed our dinner. Service was good. We were accommodated for breakfast with no notice on our last day at the campsite which was a nice end to our holiday after putting down our tents. Arrived 10 minutes late after suffering from traffic due to the Buxton Carnival. Was told initially that the table was for 2 hours. The lady met us and was annoyed that we were late and was clearly upset with us. We had finished eating at 5:45 and the waitress came to let us know that we need to go in 15 minutes, that is 30 minutes before the time we were told we have. Ironically the food was great, but let down by poor service and a frosty atmosphere. As the customer service was so poor, the overall experience was poor Picture to show how in need of the table they were :-)

We came for supper here on a cold April evening; there was a roaring open fire in the bar, which suited us just perfectly! We ordered food and drinks at the bar. The food was ok, although we shared a portion of seafood scotch egg like things, which were fishy mashed potato in a very hard coat, not very pleasant. The warm fire however was great!

I have visited here many years ago after doing the Manifold trail in the summer and it was very busy. We went to the peak district to have a drive and a nice walk in Dovedale. We live quite local in Newcastle under lyme. When we left home the weather was quite sunny and decent for a walk. Got to the peak district the skys were black and the heavens opened, We had a 16 month old with us so couldn’t do the walk so drove to here. We had a very warm welcome were seated straight away in the conservatory area and had the fish and chip deal. 2 small fish and chips with a pot of tea for £15 we both enjoyed our meal and the service was brilliant. Really nice cosy atmosphere although in the summer months it does get busy as there are many campsites surrounding it. Would definitely return and have recommended to friends and family.

We stayed at the pub for 3 nights this week as part of our anniversary celebrations. Thoroughly enjoyable experience and we will return when time permits. The accommodation was excellent as were all the staff. As my wife is coeliac, it was fantastic for her that there was so much gluten free choice available for both the inclusive breakfast and for dining at lunchtime or evening meals and all the food was excellent both for value and quality. Good atmosphere in the pub itself despite the weather being a little inclement, think it will be really humming when the weather improves and the spring and summer seasons really arrive with plenty of scope for eating and drinking outside.A little gem of a place and one that will be on our repeat visit list.

We booked to stay just one night while visiting the Peak District. The room was spacious and nicely decorated with a very comfortable bed and excellent shower. We booked to eat in the restaurant and as I'm gluten intolerant there was plenty to choose from on the menu and the food was excellent and of a really good standard. Our sleep was great and comfortable. Breakfast was again very nice, with a decent choice to choose from. My wife and myself both agreed we most certainly stop here again 10/10

Would rate 0 stars if I could. Went for a meal on the 17th June 2023 whilst camping across the road with friends. Booked a table for 6pm. We were seated fairly quickly and ordered drinks and food by 6.10. We then waited until at least 7.20 for food to arrive, it only arrived after we asked how long it would be. If such a wait was anticipated this should have been communicated to us when ordering. We ordered loaded fries with cheese, another with cheese and bacon, another with cheese and chilli and a chicken burger and chips. The food was not unpleasant, however, the chilli loaded fries gave one of the party food poisoning. This meant packing up camping in the middle of the night to get home and completely ruined our last night of our break away. I am completely disappointed in this and would recommend that the restaurant seriously looks into the hygiene and/or storage management of food.

We are staying at the campsite across the road and were advised to book a table as the restaurant gets busy. The weather is lovely so we enjoyed a couple of drinks outside before our meal. When the meal arrived my 10oz rump was accompanied by a small bowl of chips, 1 mushroom, half of small tomato and 4 small onions rings plus a very tiny bunch of water cress. The cost of this was £24. This alone was disappointing but as I started to eat my steak it was very well done and I’d asked for medium. I should have sent it back but we’d waited quite some time for it to come which meant my husband would have easily finished his meal by the time they’d cooked me another one - not what we wanted for a nice evening out. When we were asked if all was ok, I mentioned it was overdone and was told I’d ordered medium to well done. However when my husband paid the bill, it stated on the receipt I’d ordered medium. My husband pointed it out to the young man who just apologised and was clearly not about to be any more forthcoming. So …. my fault for not sending it back but I won’t be in a hurry to eat there next time we come.

When the waitress came to collect out plate’s she never mentioned that I’d hardly touched it .. I didn’t complain again but I will never go back .. way over priced for the Burger the Dining room needed a good clean .. Extremely disappointed .,,,

Nice choice of well cooked breakfast options and the restaurant menu was good with well kept beer. The pub was really busy with locals, dog walkers, people (I assume) from the local campsite so booking a table for a meal is wise! The staff we so friendly and welcoming, and we never had to wait for long as we enjoyed started, mains and puds. The food was delicious, fresh meaty cod in a lovely light batter and a wonder stake pie. Not you bought in puff pastry topped pie, but a slab of home cooked plate pie crammed with steak and tasty gravy. We decided it was so good that we would have campers breakfast the next day. Opening at 8.30, it was very busy when we arrived at just after 9 on the Sunday morning. Again, the staff were friendly and welcoming and accommodated us and our two dogs. Mixed reviews of this place. It’s a lovely pub that has potential and the location is great, especially for campers! The campers breakfasts were lovely! However, we are in the midst of a pandemic so being served a drink with lipstick on the glass was concerning, as was the complete lack of wiping down of tables between one lot of customers leaving and the next arriving; we saw people having to clear their own tables of previous people’s plates and glasses etc. This brings me on to the service in general. We visited a few times during our trip and the service was extremely slow! It was busy but not overly so but my god, if you were lucky enough to get someone to take a drinks order you’d be ordering at least two rounds to make sure!! We went for a meal to celebrate my birthday and were worried when the family next to us said they’d been there three hours and had only just finished their meals because of the service. The family across from us were served a burger for their child that arrived with just the bun and no burger!!! Thankfully when our food did arrive it was good! All in all this is a decent pub, but the service most definitely lets it down!

We visited the Manifold Inn for a pub lunch on a quiet Tuesday afternoon. Unfortunately, from start to finish we were left disappointed. We went to the pub the previous day to drop off some balloons and confetti for the table booked (a birthday occasion). When we arrived at the pub, we stood for a few minutes before someone acknowledged us. When the manager spoke to us, he then directed a member of staff to take us to the table and whispered 'let them know that we just didn't have time to do the table'. Much to our disappoint, the table had not been decorated. The table was in the conservatory which is VERY echoey and to make matters worse there was a table of 6 adults and a table of 6 children as 1 whole party. Once we released we were unable to hear each other on the table, we politely requested to move to the pub where it was empty. We were told that it was fully booked and although I suggested swapping our table with someone who is booked in later who may miss this party of 12, I was told it was not possible. So we were left not being able to hear each other/or shout louder than the party of 12 to be heard.side note: as we left the pub there were still plenty of empty tables. The food was poor. After an hour wait, my goujons arrived, which was 2 overcooked goujon pieces and a bit of salad. 45 minutes later, my order of small fish and chips arrived which had about 10 crinkle cut chips and a piece of fish that had more batter than fish. Also the size was the EXACT same as the child's portion on the table over the way. As for drinks, we had to ask for drinks multiple times because they were forgotten and it was difficult to get the servers' attention.Perfect as a 'oh well, there's nowhere else to go' kinda place but would not recommend if you have other choices.

The beer is always excellent and the Wainwright’s is perfect and the accommodation, especially the cottage is always very comfortable. However, we had booked a table for Saturday night for a group of seven and the experience was not as expected. There were not many starters, we ordered 3 goats tarts, there was only one left, and ordered4 chicken pâtes but there were only 3 small portions left.We suffered a similar experience with the main courses. Only 2 sirloin steaks left, and no gammon, it was such a shame for this lovely pub. Had 2 evening meals there which we enjoyed - well-cooked and generous amounts.Only downside was that the shower tray in our en-suite (room 7) was very slippery when wet - a rubber mat would have been a good idea. We stayed overnight in this pub on our way back down South from the Yorkshire Dales. It is next to the old bridge over the Manifold river in a small village. The heart of the complex is an old pub. You can eat in the bar or in the adjoining restaurant.I'm not one normally for nostalgia, but for me the meal was a trip down memory lane because I chose for my main meal haddock with chips and mushy peas. Although the main relevant point was that the fish was of excellent quality and nicely cooked with a crisp delicate batter, the whole thing was just the ticket for an Englishman visiting from Australia - quality fish and chips with its crowning glory of mushy peas.Memories of the home village way back with its 5 fish and chip shops! Of course, just to show I haven't entirely abandoned common sense, this would be entirely irrelevant if the quality hadn't been there. Just to reinforce the point about quality, my wife was very happy with her vegetarian lasagne. I thought the food was reasonably priced for the quality and the offer of small or large plates for some of the dishes was a nice touch. The beer was good and there was a good selection of malts at the bar.Continuing the whimsical theme, this was all topped the following morning at breakfast, when looking out the window at the pouring rain, I saw two huge cows trotting along the main road outside the pub, having obviously done a runner from their home field. A quick shout to the pub staff and the call went out to the local farmer. I assume the cows survived to tell the tale.We continued on our journey feeling all was well with the world.

Really nice polite staff. Very kind and helpful. Good selection of drinks. Outside area nice and dogs kept under control as I think no animal should be near people or food (just my opinion).

During our stay at The Manifold Inn, we decided to have dinner there one evening. I was delighted to find three vegetarian meals on what was a relatively small menu and opted for the Vegetable Lasagne. The portion was enormous (you can opt for a smaller plate if you wish) and the food was delicious. I really enjoyed our meal, the only downside was that when we went to the bar to pay, the lady who served us was very blunt and rude. She told us that splitting our bill 6 ways and paying by card was “a pain” and then gave us to her colleague to deal with. He, on the other hand, was very nice and there were no problems with splitting our bill or paying via the card machine.

Called here as we are staying for the week at nearby lodges. Passed it many times but never been in. Wish we hadn’t bothered to be honest, food was average at best. I had the fish and FROZEN chips which wasn’t too bad apart from the batter being slightly over done. My wife had a jacket potato and cheese of which had to be sent back which meant we didnt eat our meal together which was the whole idea of us eating out. If I’d have waited mine would have been stone cold. We sat in conservatory which in honesty is really grubby and certainly not where you want to be seated when eating. The blinds that can be pulled across to shelter you from the sun is absolutely disgusting and full of DEAD flys and wasps. Cobwebs in the corners and windows this is definitely an area of the pub where not to eat your food. Staff however are polite and helpful although no check back was done on our table nor was my wife asked if everything was ok when paying. No excuse for this really as it wasn’t a busy period at all and had probably only got another 14 covers in while we were there. More than likely will not return which is a shame because it is in great surroundings and looks the part from the outside but sadly that is about it.

We booked for 9 people for Sunday lunch whilst we were camping nearby. The roast dinner was excellent the the portions were very generous. The kids ham, egg and chips was an enormous hit. The food was excellent and the staff were very helpful. Would definitely go back.

Visited recently for lunch whilst staying in a nearby village. We both had a sandwich. My beef and horseradish sandwich was way to big. Ok I know its unusual but I personally think sometimes less is more! Unfortunately the multitude of beef was a bit tough and I could not taste any horseradish! I realise it is not the fault of the premises but we were also pestered by wasps whilst sitting outside in the lovely weather on the day. My wife enjoyed her cheddar and pickle sandwich to be fair.

Friendly staff and excellent fare in this cosy pub that welcomes campers. We loved it. And I spent a very happy afternoon with a pint and a book.

The pub was empty when we got there, but got very busy, there was only 2 staff members working and they couldn't cope with the rush, we waited 40 minutes for dirty plates to be removed, asked for the dessert board but after waiting another 40 minutes we gave up waiting, there was no staff around to ask for the bill, so had to wait in the longest bar queue to pay

A warm welcome, attentive, friendly service and wonderful food! I chose the "small" fish, chips and mushy peas and it was delicious and the perfect size meaning I wasn't too stuffed to enjoy a dessert! I chose the Nutella cheesecake which was AMAZING! The best cheesecake I have ever had! I Sooo recommend The Manifold Inn restaurant!

Visited here for a pub lunch with friends whilst on holiday and was not disappointed. A great pub lunch menu with a specials board. Several vegetarian options which I was pleasantly surprised by. I had the brie and caramelised onion tart which was delicious. Friends had bangers and mash and lasagne respectively. Decent/normal value and good sized portions which arrived in good time and seemed fresh. The setting was beautiful and the pub room was very comfy. Dog friendly. Staff very polite and you felt at ease. Would return.

We were staying at the campsite close by. Enjoyed the steak and ale pie although it was quite rich and very meaty. The sticky toffee pudding was lovely with some fruit on top.

Had lunch when we arrived for our 2 night break. I had tuna sandwich which came with salad and coleslaw and hubby had roast beef sandwich both was lovely and very tasty, the bread was so soft and tasty. Also had an evening meal. I had the homemade steak pie, chips and veg and hubby had steak chips onion rings etc. Both meals absolutely lovely and very reasonably priced. Very good choice on the menu for hot and cold starters, mains, sweets and sandwiches. Dog friendly in the pub and conservatory not in the restaurant part which wasn’t a problem we ate in the pub so did a lot of other people dog or no dog. Apart from the menu there is also a menu for small portions as well and there was a specials board. Very busy and popular place and would highly recommend.

This is a physically attractive pub in lovely countryside. The bar has a good choice of real ales and had a couple of good stouts on tap as well as several decent pint of bitter.

The fire was lit and the pub was warm and welcoming. Great service from the lads behind the bar and fantastic pub food. Great options on the menu to have a full meal or lighter option if preferred. We enjoyed the whale and chips and a delicious bread and butter pudding. Just what we needed after a nice walk at Dovedale. Afforadably priced. We will definitely be back. Thanks!

This was our first visit to the Manifold Inn in years after having stayed in the area frequently in the past. From start to finish, the whole meal was utterly disappointing.

The food here is good if a little pricey, the ales and wines are better though. If the weather permits this Inn has very good garden and forecourt areas. Can get busy due to the campsite opposite in the summer.

Ordered 2 meals and 2 side orders. Unable to eat all the food as there was about a dozen flies all over the side orders. When i told the staff she said they were sorry but there was nothing they could do about the flies in this hot weather. REALLY??

We had been camping at the local site and arrived at the pub at 6.30pm. They said that they were only taking orders for food from booked reservations at present and to check back in about half an hour to see if they could take orders. I of course would have understood, if half the restaurant had't have been empty at this point and at several of the staff weren't standing around having chats and drinking coke. So a little disgruntled we waited and were again told the same thing. We then asked if they would mind asking the chef if we could at least feed our two small children (i mean they wanted chicken nuggets) and they said no as this counted as a meal. They didn't even move from the bar to ask the chef.

Stayed here for 2 nights with my wife whilst visiting the Peaks. We paid extra for an upgrade to a larger suite in a separate building behind the inn. The rooms are recently redecorated and were lovely, great bathroom upgrades with walk in shower and huge bath. Room was very clean and high vaulted ceilings. Good breakfast included too. Would definitely stay here again.

I have eaten at the Manifold Inn several times before but haven't been for about a year. It my be my memory playing tricks, but I'm sure in the main restaurant they have gone downmarket a little from 'restaurant/bistro' to 'pub-grub'. But, no matter, there's nothing wrong with pub-grub and I could have more carefully checked the online menu.

We booked a room and dinner at the Manifold as a venue for Dale walks. The pub feels homely, the beer selection seemed good (too many to sample them all), and the evening dinner was pretty good. They were obviously very busy this particular Saturday night, so service was slow, but all the staff were helpful and friendly so it wasn't a problem.

Went past on our boat heading for Froghall, the following day we gave the Hollybush a call to book for dinner. Fabulous food amazing puddings and very friendly staff, who were amazed that we stacked our empty plates 😂 it’s what we do as we know it’s usually appreciated by staff and 3/5 of us have worked in hospitality! Would definitely recommend a visit and will hopefully return at some point in the future!
