Tried all the Chinese takeaway in the area and this is the best one around. I always use this one now would highly recommend!!!

What’s the point in having a website that you cannot place an order on, if you order for delivery it does not show up in the time slot and no contact from take away to let you know it will be late

I shouldn’t even be giving one star!! This place is awful the food was absolutely terrible. The satay chicken was undercooked and the salt and pepper chicken was rubbery we couldn’t eat it! Wish I had read the reviews before we ordered! Shall not be ordering again from here and honestly I urge you to order elsewhere!

I always loved this place but they have recently changed hands I believe. The food was delivered on time ✅ but the food was SO salty! Not nice at all. Didn’t enjoy 😞

Always loved Mandarin for every dish until recent change of supplier/chefs? I’m not a restaurant critic by any stretch but all of a sudden the satay sauce pot is microscopic and the salt and pepper chicken is anaemic and flavourless. Chips are a thing to behold though, which every chinese restaurant should aspire to of course.

Used to be one of the best, now one of the worst. Don’t waste your time or your money.

Myself and my girlfriend placed an order at 8:15 Saturday evening with delivery expected within 70 minutes. After 90 minutes I called and was told the food was on its way, another 20 minutes later still nothing had arrived. By chance I looked out the window and the delivery driver was sitting at the front of my house with my food! No phone call to let us know he was there , seemed they had got the orders confused. By the time the food arrived it was awful. The chicken curry was disgusting no sauce and the chicken was different temperatures, Chow mein some noodles were burnt, tried to call the restaurant last night but they had closed by the time I received my food. I will try again to contact the restaurant to take this further as it’s not acceptable. Used to love the mandarin but this was disgusting.

Website does not work ..tried 4 times to order online tried 2 different cards .. not completing orders ! Gave up went elsewhere.. no problems with others..

been using these for years but last couple of weeks sauce containers gone from large to medium to small need 3-4 to make one of the old size shame as will get to pricy if they keep this size

It’s very nice, Reading the previous reviews on here I was quite frankly scared to order. But it came on time, food was pleasant and the order was correct. It’s not the best Chinese I’ve ever tasted but it’s certainly not a bad one! Very nice, thanks Mandarin!

Had a beef curry and the beef was like shoe leather

So rude! We have had problems in the past with bits missing off the order. But tonight - sweet and sour prawns (10) on the menu - 8 turned up. I telephoned to be told it was only 9, said your menu says 10 so she hung up on me - really - seriously you couldn’t have just sorted an extra one out and not been so rude!

Took 65min to arrive after being told 40min. Wasn’t great. Egg fried rice wasn’t that nice. Worse chicken Charmaine Iv ever had. Was some odd noodles and small square chucks chicken. Wasn’t impressed and won’t buy from there again.

Ordered for a delivery had to wait over an hour! Food arrived luke warm & full of grease Urgh disgusting No taste, last weeks reheated food I believe! Went straight into the garbage can.. Never again boyfriend was very sick after only a few mouthfuls.. This place needs to shut down..

Ordered the beef in black bean sauce I would even feed this to my dog as it was just pure fat stay well clear of this dish.

Been using this Chinese for the last 3 years, this beef was the worst that I have ever had.. I took it back into the shop and the manager said that it was normal. Stay well clear of that dish.

Sad sad sad. I've been a regular at this Chinese for around 4 years and I've spent a lot of money here. I've never had an issue food always great. Unfortunately I won't be ordering from here again after tonight. I waited an hour and 40 minutes. The food was out on the road 20 minutes as I phoned to check where it had got to. The "crispy" aromatic duck wasn't crispy it looked like it had just been blown off a carcus and full of fat totally inedible. Crispy shredded chicken not shredded just fat lumps of diced chicken. The rest of the food was soggy and tasteless. I phoned the mandarin again to tell them I wasn't happy. I was advised they had changed suppliers due to the economy. The guy was more interested in defending himself than listening to my complaint. Nothing offered to resolve, he's more interested in making his cash. Imagine how I feel dropping £55 on food that I wouldn't feed to my dog. Appalling customer service and it's such a shame because I really enjoyed the food from here.

Waited nearly 2.5 hrs for our delivery tonight. Appalling customer service, no appologies from staff.

I was recommended The Mandarin on a local Facebook group, I tried their delivery service and it was late 20 minutes, fair enough there I ordered at peak time and there was rush hour traffic. I called and was told it would be another 5 minutes, turned up 15 minutes later. Food wise, nothing special. Portions were smaller than expected, normally I would have enough left over for a small lunch the next day! Some items were not as expected and overcooked. Sadly I could not agree with the FB recommendations, wish I read the reviews here first! Will be looking elsewhere to try!

Ordered in advance and they lost the order Had to wait for over an hour after the required collection time. Evening ruined. Avoid!!!!

Ordered on line and had 60 min wait time. Called after 90 mins and was told it had just left 30 mins later still not arrived. Rang and got told it went to the wrong address. Don’t waste your time and give the mandarin a miss.

The worse Chinese ive had from there, cold when come chicken balls were hard, there was no chillies as requested with the prawns. And the prawns crackers were like they were old

Well if you have a dog you wouldn’t feed it to the dog. We ordered special fried rice which had no taste was soggy all the meat was grizzly had some kind of sauce with it disgusting. Also had chicken curry well I always thought curries are cooked with everything in a pan not just lumps off fatty grizzly chicken dumped in the bottom of a plastic pot then sauce poured over the top that has no taste. Also chicken balls that the dog turned his nose up at again grizzly chicken and no taste and dry. Also had beef chow main again grizzly beef fatty and no taste it was that bad I did a covid test because I couldn’t taste anything it came back fine I didn’t have covid just rubbish cheap food. Definitely won’t spend nearly £30 at this place again so if you go there for food I hope you enjoy but I will stick to my usual place

Every time I have been delicious food and good portions. Cooked fresh unlike other places who pre-cook all the rice. Best Chinese in Tonbridge. Always collect and always very busy because it is so good.

Having read the poor reviews about long delivery times and cold food we decided to go here in person to order and collect our food. Two items we wanted they didn’t do, large pancake rolls and dry spare ribs. My wife was told “if we can’t fulfil your order, we give you more”. So we ended up with two lots of Mini spring rolls and two lots of Spare ribs in Barbecue sauce as well as the other items in our order. More food than we needed and not what exactly what we wanted but the extra portions were free or so we thought. My wife paid for the food, a bit pricey but hey we’ve not used them before and brought it home. When I checked the bill we had indeed paid for the extra portions of food that we didn’t want, hardly an act of good will for not being able to fulfil our order. We got two lots of a dish we didn’t want, twice and was misled into paying for the pleasure. So we paid an extra £9 for two extra portions of food that we didn’t want in the first place. The rest of the food was Ok ish nothing great but the look of the Chicken in the Chicken Curry reminded me of Weebox dog food. It was anaemic, obviously water blasted and reconstituted Chicken plus it was limp and tasteless. We will not be going back there.

We had 5 dishes from this takeaway and each one was tasteless, to say we were disappointed is a understatement. We will never order here again

I miss this place since moving out of my parents 8 years ago lovely food very big portions and the service varys like anywhere if it is busy prepare to wait that's all I'm saying a great place though

I ordered based on reviews & the food looked lovely. However it was tasteless. I rang to speak to them & was told that rice tasted like rice & that chicken balls were balls of chicken in batter & what was I expecting?!? I also had the special chow main which again was tasteless. No answer for this!! The Manager was So so rude & I told her I would expect the food too be seasoned & flavoursome too then be told that’s why people buy sauces!!! Hmmm def won’t be ordering from there again!!

Have used the Mandarin for many years but won’t be going back again. Food ordered at 5.55 & said wait would be 90 minutes.after 2 hours rang & asked where the order was, was told it was on its way. After 25 mins food arrived but when unpacked 1 main was missing. Rang back to be told it was on its way. After 30 mins it arrived. Food luke warm and not really of any standard. Will no longer support Mandarin as this is not the first time it’s happened, there are many more businesses in Tonbridge who I shall now support

I ordered food at 18:15 and they said it was going to be 1 hour and 30 mins,with I had no problem with as they were very busy,but then I had to wait 2 hours for my delivery so I phoned up and asked were it was and they said it will be another 30 mins,and I waited 30 mins and still no delivery so I phoned back up asking to speak to the manager and they said she was busy and couldn’t speak to me,and I asked how long my order would be and she said it will be with you as soon as possible,and then I had to wait another 40 mins and still no order so I phoned up again and spoke to the manager finally and he was very rude to me as I asked for a refund and still wanted the food,and he said i was taking the piss even though I had to wait 3 hours for my order that never came,and I said I was not happy and would never order of this company again and he hung up on me,very rude customer service I wouldn’t recommend this to a dog,absolutely disgusting customer service.

Best Chinese food around by far. Always hot, fresh and tasty. Delivery drivers are always courteous. Highly recommended

Even after reading some poor reviews (mainly about deliveries), we decided to get a takeaway for 5 of us.The food was ready on time, I could see the chefs working in a very clean kitchen, and the food was absolutely delicious. Lots and lots of everything, so very good value for money. I would definitely recommend them, we would all get a takeaway from there again.5 stars !!!

The food tends to be good but the service is shocking (apart from the delivery driver who is lovely). We had to wait for two and a half hours for our food last night. When I called to chase I was told it would be quicker if I came and got it myself. I explained I was at home with two very hungry children and could not collect, hence why I ordered takeaway. No apology, no money off, nothing. I was told I would have to wait another 20 minutes. 40 minutes later the food finally turned up. We will not use again.

Hi. We ordered food on line around 5.45, food should have been delivered after 90 minutes. When it got to Around 8.00 pm we called to see where our delivery was.When I asked politely when food would arrive I was told by the owner I made the girl on the phone cry. This upset me. I was not aggressive or rude.. I am trying to support local businesses in this pandemic, perhaps I picked the wrong one as their attitude is wrong. All I ask is be honest when ordering food will it be 1 hour 2 hours or 3 hours?

Food was luke warm, didn't taste fresh, small portion - would not recommend! Sauces tasted bland - like from a packet. Wish I read the other reviews beforehand!

No social distancing ..No masks worn by anybody ..I ordered a special chow mein & believe me there was nothing special about it..I woke up in the middle of the night with a really bad stomach ache. I was on the toilet for most of the day & with stomach cramps..Obviously I wont be returning even if they were the only take away on the planet, I will be giving it a swerve in future!! Beware..

Whilst eating a special chow mein I thought it tasted bit strange but thought it was me.. I only had 1 dish as I don't really like their food.. Well a special chow mein it certainly was.. I have spent the best part of the morning on the loo & with stomach cramps.. Not nice I should have trusted my instincts & given it a wide birth🤮🥵

Waited more than 2.5hrs for delivery. Ordered at 6.20, didn’t arrive until 9pm. Phone went straight to voicemail. Called to complain the next day and was faced with a very rude, unapologetic manager. Would not recommend.

Waited 2 hours and 30 minutes. Was told 1 hour and 20 minutes. No contact was made by them and I was left wandering if my meal is coming, or if I'd been mugged £40. Further more my chicken satay (peanut butter chicken) was so spicy I couldn't actually eat it, plus the food was so salty. So disappointed as I'm a regular 😔! Won't be coming back.or recommending when out with others.

Ordered food at 6.45, wasn’t until we’d made payment did it come up on the confirmation email it’s a 2 hour wait! Tried to call multiple times to cancel but no answer on the phones, tried to email but the email bounced back as the email on their website is invalid! 2 hours later, still no food, tried to call again and finally got through to be told it’ll be 10 mins, 2 hours and 50 mins later we finally have our food. Will never order from them again. Not so much as a courtesy call to inform us of the delay. Terrible.

The WORST experience I have ever had from a takeaway. The food delivery time was for 8:15 specifically and finally recieved the order at 9pm and was fuming about not even having a phone call or message about it being late. I asked the driver about why so long for a wait he said that they only had 3 chefs and 5 drivers which is plenty for a busy saturday for a takeaway and continued to argue with me, no excuse for a takeaway as I work in the same industry and can do the same job with less staff

Ordered food @7:45pm for delivery by 9pm by 9:20pm no delivery, called them only to then be told they ran out of food they didn’t even have the curtsy to call me and say they had run out

We ordered the Chinese online at 18:45 after placing the order we found it was going to take 90min. At 21:30 I called and they said the food wouldn’t be ready until 10pm. Unacceptable, I would have thought that common courtesy would be to call me after being 30mins late.

Absolutely shocking waited 3 hours to be called at closing time they’re cancelling my order - at least answer the phones to your customers then I could have got food from somewhere else too late now - please ensure my money is refunded!!!

Ordered my food at 7:30 said would be delivered at 9:00 which is understandable in busy time but when you get a phone call at 10:15 saying you’re food can’t be delivered as they have run out of stock is absolutely disgraceful steer clear of this sham of a take away service

When visiting mother in laws we quite often have a Chinese. This is the best Take away in town. extreme helpful, we collect, polite staff. Not greasy totally recommend.

Cold when arrived after just 10 mins of ordering... mushy, Iceland dice chicken? Prawn toast was actually just fried toast, chow mein same as vermicelli noodles. Tastless. The furthest thing from a Chinese takeaway we have ever experienced. Never again.

We have been regular customers for as long as I can remember. Food is good, but they are to busy and don’t care about letting customers wait 20 mins extra for their food without letting them know. Friday night 1hr 20 for food!! Unacceptable, and they really don’t care!!

Food was not as discribed was my first order and will not be going back. Manager was rude when I called to say that there was any sauce he answered ""and so"" then the manager hung the telephone up I was surprised as I thought maybe he would just send some out or collect the wrong food and replace them but he wasnt intrested he had his money so wasnt bothered.

We have been regular customers and near on weekly customers to the Mandarin for years spending between £15-£30 per time, however after tonight’s service I won’t be ordering from them again out of principle. I placed a preset at 6.29pm and it said 50minutes delivery, by 7.50 we still hadn’t had our food so I phoned up and was informed it had only just left the shop so I asked if there was any discount on this then as we had waited so long, the girl on the phone asked the manager I could hear the whole conversation and the manager said very abruptly no discount we are only 5 mins late to which I replied no your nearly half hour late the girl on the phone repeated this to the manager and then she replied it’s a Saturday night what does she expect!!! !! I expect my food to be delivered in the time frame the The restaurant states not to be kept waiting & not for the first time may I add !!The managers attitude was absolutely appalling I asked to spk to her and she wouldn’t even have the decency to comeOn the phone.So from Now on I will take my hard earned money and order else where !! Very very poor and you’ve lost a loyal customer

Manager VERY rude!!!! Told us 45 minutes and over 2 hours for delivery then when asked to speak to a manager, heard the manager say in the back ground she 'couldn't be bothered' to talk to the customer!!! Shocking!!! 4 phone calls later also and no idea where our food was......

Food which bears no resemblance to chicken, beef or anything else. The prawns were nothing like I have ever seen before in shape, taste or texture. The sauces were inedible and I would never, ever, ever go there again. The worst "Chinese" I have tasted.

I previously gave them 5 stars specifically mentioning their great flavours. I don't know what has gone wrong but our recent meal was very, very bland. A shame because you're only as good as your last offering and our next Chinese takeaway will obviously not be from them.

Ordered and accepted a £30 meals to be delivered at around 9pm ..Blimmin didn't turn up... Kept phoning but they didn't pick up... Will never use these people again... .

I ordered chicken hong kong style but omg have no idea what it was I ate, some piece were chicken the other two piece I ate definitely wasn’t which then made me investigate and 🤢 god what have I actually been eating

Tonight we ordered food from the Mandarin; as we do once a week. tonight was different. The food we received smelt strongly of urine!!!!!! it was disgusting!!!! I called the manager who was incredibly hostile and said I could keep the urine smelling food until tomorrow evening when i could return it to him for my money back!! Obviously i did not want the urine stinky food in my house until the next evening!! The manager got more irate and said he was driving but couldn't drive to collect the repulsive food his staff had delivered! When I mentioned speaking to the environmental health authority the manger said if i did i would no longer be eligible for a refund and further orders of the urine soaked food in the future!! Needless to say we shall not be ordering food from here again!!!!!!!!!! Disgusting food and ghastly people.

Ordering online worked well and the food arrived promptly however the food was average and the beef chow mien was positively unpleasant. I enjoyed the crispy seaweed and the crispy duck in pancakes, and the sweet & sour chicken was OK. I wouldn't have minded paying these prices if the food had been better. We have had better takeaways from Mandarin before maybe it was just a bad night.

Got a take away last night for my birthday and decided to order from the mandarin as apposed to our local and really wish we hadn’t.

Great food and always fast delivery

Have used this takeaway many times because they catered for vegetarian options, we expected it to be busy on New Year’s Eve so we ordered early @6/30 , told it might take up to an hour,,, fair enough,, however after I phoned twice it eventually turned up two hours later ,,, some of it was cold and one order was wrong, despite sending a feedback form have had no response, won’t be using them again

Nicest Chinese take away around. Cook food in front of you.Never seen such a busy take away on Friday and Saturday evening.

Lucky enough to have this in my opinion authentic Chinese takeaway.. The food is always cooked from scratch and always delivers on taste.
