Poor attitude, sign states everything is cooked to order which it is NOT except the Hash Brown which arrived piping hot soaked in oil having been in the fryer whilst everything else was Luke warm. The sausages were very 'plastic' type, with no flavour, the bacon was grim and burnt, the mushrooms were barely existent, the gentleman behind the counter when I arrived wasn't interested or greeting, £9.90 badly spent. Much nicer places in the area and this brings it down.

We fly at Sherburn, we have tried the current facilities, we have tried the Motorist… What is lacking is a plain family run establishment with a sassy Lady Boss, who cuts you no slack !!!!! You want breakfast - come early !! However, today, the sun, moon and stars aligned and we were blessed with a sausage sandwich. Turns out, they had a kids party later… Sat outside with some beautiful dogs to our left, loads of kids play articles in the safe grassy area, sun out - very pleasant. Drinks arrived, proper pot of tea for me, Coke for my heathen pal. Sandwiches arrived…….. Oh….. My….. A sight to behold, well filled, decent brown sauce, nice bap, excellent. We both went silent as we enjoyed - lots of nods and Mmmmmm’s. Everyone else was enjoying a whole variety of tasty comestibles. Well worth a visit.

Don't bother - really rude old woman who served us was snippy and down right rude. We travelled 8 miles to visit and when the old woman brought over our food she told me (really loudly and snappily in front of everyone) that I couldn't feed my 15 month old baby any more of his food that we had brought for him, and that I had to buy their food for him if he wants anything else. I will decide what MY BABY eats thank you. I have NEVER been asked not to feed my baby his own food in a restaurant/cafe before and we regularly eat out (weekly) in a range of different venues. If you had only said politely when we arrived about your policy and the reasons behind it then we wouldn't have had an issue. A small generic notice on the table is not sufficient and went easily unnoticed. Parents usually focus of sorting out their children first. Priorities! The way you acted so rudely and aggressively was not on. We will not be returning or recommending you to anyone. However I would like to say thank you to the younger members of staff though as you were polite and friendly.

Camping nearby, I needed a real coffee fix and found The Maltings by doing a Google search and checking out websites. The location is easy to access, plenty of parking spaces. There is indoor seating in a charming cabin, and ample comfortable seating on the outside decking. Greeted warmly and was instantly heartened to see someone baking. The selection of cakes stopped me in my tracks and there was my favourite coffee cake so I didn't really look for anything else else. We made ourselves comfortable outside and our coffees were brought out to us. Both coffee and cake hit the spot perfectly. If we are back in the area we will certainly be back.

Have often driven past here but have never been so was lovely when my partner surprised me with an afternoon tea voucher for my birthday. On arrival we said we had booked an afternoon tea and we were presented it on a platter which wasn’t what I expected to be honest and considering it had sausage rolls and pork pie on it wasn’t refrigerated so no idea how long it had been sat out of the fridge. The bread was a little dry on the sandwiches but the overall taste of the food was nice .We weren’t asked if we wanted a drink so my partner went inside to get us a drink and what I found very strange was a drink wasn’t included in the price of the afternoon tea ! I think with a little more attention to presentation and fresher bread and a drink included it could actually make so much difference

Best cafe in the south milford and sherburn area. Regularly get cooked breakfasts and cakes from here, very consistent. They also do the best brownies you'll find in the area! Good customer service too.

Young server very pleasant. Food didn’t arrive as ordered. No apology. Bread appears to be from frozen. Food ok nothing special. No prices on cakes etc. Specials on offer given verbally not displayed anywhere. Mature female team member very abrupt, no smile, poor customer service. Called here by chance but we won’t be returning. Shame, as on entering it looked very promising.

Been a few times to the Tea Rooms, one thing I cannot fault is the coffee! Always so flavourful and large glasses full. I always get a sweet treat too, both the cakes and the brownies are very moist and very big portions! Definitely will be back

We spotted this from the road and decided to call in for a coffee. We were not happy as we had to stand in the doorway to wait to be seated, This caused us to block the exit and we were in the way. Someone behind the counter asked us to sit at table number 7 and gave us a menu saying there was no table service. There were a group of three ladies in front of us who chose their own table and gave the number to the staff. We ordered two lattes but when they came the glasses were only three quarters full and the coffee, despite asking for half shots, was too strong. When we paid the £6 with a £10 note we got £3 change, yet when I went to school it should have been £4 When we left there was no "thank you" or "goodbye". Will not be visiting again.

Visited twice and both occasions extremely disappointed. First visit September -afternoon tea for two with my daughter, using my 40th birthday present (voucher). On arrival was told tea (or any drink) wasn't included in my afternoon tea which I found to be odd considering the name! Came on boards, one with a selection of sandwich if you could call them that, more crust than bread. A mini portion of coleslaw, pickle and pickled onions along with a sausage roll cut into 4 pieces and a pork pie cut into 2. The cake section was on another level -1 scone and 1 piece of cake TO SHARE! Over all rubbish. Went again today with a friend -told no hot food available as closing early. Fine, ordered a sandwich and that's just what arrived. One round brown bread cake not even cut in half. No side salad or garnish. Disgusting for £4.50. All we could smell was bleach so I suppose we should be grateful it wad clean. Won't be trying for the third time that's for sure. Much nicer places in the area.

Now very poor. Changed breakfast menu. Now only choice of full or veggie breakfast or bacon/sausage sandwich with extras mushrooms, has brown or fried egg. No other egg options (eg scrambled) as in the past. No tinned tomatoes. No other smaller plate breakfasts. No just toast options. Outside served on plates though, not take out boxes. Hot drinks still in takeaway cups though. Probably will not make effort to return as other cafe options nearby.

Came today with friends. So disappointing. It was a lovely warm day so we sat outside. Went into order advised where we were sat and gave a number. Asked to pay later as we already new we wanted more drinks and cakes later and ti split the bill. The attitude from the woman on the roll (older blonde hair unable to smile) was appalling. So rude and patronising. Four of us eating. 2 sandwiches arrived wrapped in a bag. Said we are eating here not taking away. To be told as we were outside it’s tske away and no plates. Weren’t advised this and seems odd when still apart of the tea room. Then 5 minute wait for those 2 peoples chips ti arrive. Still no food for the other 2. Brought one salt one may for 2 people. By the time the other 2 food arrived we had finished. They had a toastie which had in melted cheese. Just looked like a toast sandwich. All very disappointing. No idea why the food couldn’t all be brought out together either. Then ordered some cakes. The cakes all look delicious. Me and SIL ordered the same brownies brownies. Another ordered different type of brownie. The 2 the same we’re raw inside. I went in to ask for another ti be told that’s how brownies are they are supposed to be gooey. I said I am aware of that but this is raw not gooey and the other brownies and the others I could see in display were not like this. Again told this is how they are meant to be it’s intentional. I said I’m not eating it and asked to swap for another which was fully cooked. Said look this isn’t the same. Served by the same older blonde lady who needs a lesson in customer service. Everything seemed a hassle ti her. She never smiled or spoke except blunt rude answers. The 3 younger staff were polite and helpful they should teach their boss a lesson. I won’t be coming there again and will advise others to avoid. Such a shame as could be so lovely. Not sure where you are made ti feel a second class citizen for choosing ti sit outside in summer when they have numerous tables set up ti accommodate this

Four of us visited for lunch. As it was a nice day we decided to sit outside. When ordering and asking for a tab we were told it isn't normal practice as you should pay when ordering. 2 sandwiches appeared in paper bags, followed by the 4 drinks, then a delay waiting for two ham and cheese toasties (served in polystyrene boxes). Very unappetizing. White barely toasted bread with some ham and grated cheese. Not hot, the cheese hadn't even melted. We then had brownies, one of which was raw cake dough. The others were very pleasant as were the young girls serving. Perhaps it would be helpful for staff to tell paying clientele that should they decide to eat outdoors they will be classed as takeaway customers. Definitely wouldn't recommend.

Went for lunch with family today. Nice day so we sat outside. Ordered food and it came in takeaway bags/cartons etc. asked if we could have a plate to be told they don’t do plates if you sit outside…….. what?? If they had said that when we ordered we would have sat inside. Sandwich ok chips tasted of oil. Asked for salt and a rather abrupt lady brought us one packet. Definitely not service with a smile. Brownies appeared to be just raw batter, I know they are meant to be gooey but these (not all only some) were actually raw. Disappointing.

Ordered a tuna & cheese panini - this is what arrived on a small side plate ! Couldn’t even cut it. I wouldn’t have even let that leave the kitchen. Tasted as bad as it looked. Nearly 10mins difference between my food being served and partner receiving theirs. Partner took coffee back as they’d given us both white ( hadn’t asked if we wanted black or white ). When we asked if we could get a black one instead we’re told ‘there’s your black coffee & you’ll need to pay for it ! ‘. Oh wow what great customer service skills. Think your staff need a bit more training in a few aspects of the service industry - starting with sandwich making and presentation! Oh and how to speak & treat customers

We visited here for brunch and ordered the small breakfast. As we had our very well-behaved dog with us, we sat outside. When the food came, it was brought in small polystyrene tray-boxes with plastic knives and forks. I assumed that they were of the belief that we were taking our food away and so explained we were staying to eat at the cafe. We were then told that because we had a dog with us, we were not allowed the privilege of plates or proper cutlery, because some people had allegedly been allowing their dogs to eat from the plates! First of all, what sort of a disrespectful cretin would allow a dog to eat from a plate at a cafe?! Secondly, why then assume all dog owners act in this disrespectful manner and tell us we have to eat out of polystyrene trays, using plastic cutlery?! It was like eating in a prison!! The food was mediocre to start with, but after this we definitely won’t return.

Under new management (really nice people), so we'll give them the benefit of the doubt. Having eaten here regularly in the last few months and always been very satisfied, we were a more than little disappointed this time. The cooked breakfast always is our favourite but it fell well below the usual high standard. Just as well cooked, served by pleasant friendly staff etc but the meat was not as good a quality. The blackboard still shows the supplier to be Jackson's Butchers which surely can't be the case now? The bacon was just about ok, but the sausages were not good - very low meat content? We'll be back soon and hopefully be able to give it 5 stars as before.

Called in today for the first time. Ordered their large breakfast (supersized I think they call it) with a coffee. Thought it was on the pricey side at almost £9.50, but when it arrived at I was really happy with it. Staff were friendly and overall I can’t fault it.

As un-assuming little place, just off the Sherburn by pass, to be honest from the road it doesn't look too inviting and even the drive up made us have second thoughts. However inside is much nicer, cosy tea room. Menu and staff very nice, good atmosphere. We have the cake platter for 2 to share £9.99, presentation and taste wonderful, scones a delight. I had breakfast but decided it’s a good day I’m going to treat myself to a breakfast sandwich. But this was no treat. I feel compelled to let everyone know how awful it was… the sausages were definitely a couple days old at least, the mushrooms weren’t cooked and the hash brown was stale, undercooked and cold. Staff are pretty unpleasant too.

Just told my daughter she would get a refund(given no proof of this either, hopefully can track this through her app) She wasn't aware u had to be with an adult just for soft drinks and some food and wasn't explained this until just told to leave. Disappointed. Firstly we arrived, the car park was busy. Seemed people park there that aren't visiting the pub. Very small for the establishment. We had to drive around twice to eventually find a parking spot. Our drinks order was taken quickly and then our food order was taken. Great 👍 The food came. The fish and chips was a good size portion. The roasts on the other hand. Very thin pieces of meat. Large yorkies. OK veg. Now the roast potatoes... I'm not often disappointed by roast dinner veggies. However these roast potatoes were the worst I've ever tasted. My knife wouldn't even cut them the skin was like leather! I have no idea how they managed to get them like that. Inedible! The service was slow and seemed stretched for the amount of tables. We asked for a dessert menu and one was never brought, after finishing our drinks we left without ordering. Would not rush to come back for the food.
