Friendly , although quiet, pub serving generous portions . The owners are Lithuanian so that adds a dimension to the food. Shame they are closing next week but they are moving to The Rose, Debenham Road.

Had a great family get together at the Magpie. The food was excellent and well presented, and the portion sizes where really generous. Would definitely eat there again. Would highly recommend the Magpie.

Great service as usual, food is always phenomenal. Fresh and full of taste. The owners are such a welcoming couple. Always friendly and happy to have a chat with who ever comes through the door. Not the first or the last time coming here. My boyfriend (US) had Lithuanian kebabs for the first time and now I have created a beast 😄

Visiting the area and this turned out to be the nearest pub with food. Very friendly host. Had Lithuanian starter and main course. Wasn't disappointed with anything. Food was superb and portions were very big. Will certainly try to get back. Really good value for money. Thankyou

We have lived nearby for almost ten years and ashamed to say this was our first time visiting, but certainly won't be our last. Fantastic food and service. Lots of choices, the Lithuanian dishes we tried were fantastic. The kids were entertained with the bouncy castle all round great visit. Many thanks

Great fresh food, friendly atmosphere and nice setting. Portion sizes are huge and the food is genuine had the prawns to start which were whole langostines and the chicken steak for mains would totally recommend so much nicer than the typical pub.

Visited today while passing on a road trip. We had the most amazing kebabs… not pizza shop style… really tasty!! The hosts were lovely and all very reasonably priced! Our dog was also swiftly provided with water. I’d love to say we would be back but it’s 5 hours away from home 😊

Great place if you are not looking only for traditional English food. You definitely need to try the Lithuanian menu. Great service. We will definitely visit again.

Very well price drinks but slow service, dated décor, and cold in temperature. Edited 12/09/23. I am local, so dropped in for something to eat and drink at lunch time. Member of staff was on a mobile call when I arrived which is of course fine, but having waited 2 or 3 minutes, perhaps a little apology or at least "thanks for waiting" would have been nice. Ordered a pint of Cruzcampo. After a number of attempts at spooning out the foam it was passed to me with the advice "it's nearly a pint, just wait for the foam to settle". Ok... Said at this point (against my better judgement) that I'd probably like to order food, but would like to look at a menu. Member of staff left and I found a menu. Quickly found something to try but no staff members came out. The pub only had 3 customers (including myself). Could see the staff member in the kitchen but could never catch her eye. Waited for probably 15minutes whilst finishing my drink before giving up and leaving. I want a nice simple pub within walking distance (which this pretty much is) but such horrendous service and little care leaves me very unlikely to return. If you were wondering, I was keen to try the garlic and cheese fried bread, but other than hopping the bar and making it myself, this seemed unlikely. Perhaps invest in a bell for the bar? Walking home as I type hungry and disappointed.

I was driving past and stopped off here to use the facilities today when I politely asked to use the Loo I was told that I had to buy something which I did not mind at all i got a packet of walkers prawn cocktail flavour crisps they charged me £1.50???? so i wont be visiting anytime soon I am afraid.....

Our hosts were very welcoming and pleasant and it was nice to see something a bit different to the normal pub grub on the menu. I had a Ukrainian starter followed by a Lithuanian Goulash both of which were very enjoyable. My wife had a sweet and soar chicken dish that she said was also very tasty. The portion sizes of the meals were very generous and the prices on the whole were reasonable too. We'll definitely won't hesitate to go back again when we are in the area.

This afternoon we met with our dear Lithuanian friends Jovita & Vaidas at The Magpie pub. We were not disappointed. The food, drink & ambience were spot on. We really enjoyed the food , and the service by Roberta, Jonas and Vaida were excellent. Thank you for an extremely enjoyable afternoon......even though England came 2nd in the ladies world Cup final x

Loverly family orientated place amazing food my kids loved the pizzas and the Donna meat was delicious too would 100% recommend this place for an all round great dining experience we will be coming back when we next visit stonham

Shame that the pub interior doesn't remind us of old Lithuanian culture. The food is delicious and the portions are very big.

This is the nearest pub to friends of ours. We have visited a few times whilst visiting them usually just for drinks after a walk. The pub is run by Lithuanians and the choice of drinks is very varied with some unusual Lithuanian ones on offer. We have tried English ale, continental larger, Lithuanian beers & kriek (cherry beer)all have been tasty. We did eat here a few months ago & there was lots of choice on the menu. All the typical pub favourites, a good choice of pizza and interestingly lots of Lithuanian food. The food was very tasty, freshly cooked and good size portions. It is fairly reasonably priced too. The pub has a few community events such as a games night, discos etc and they also offer a diverse service for food orders which seems popular. There is a garden at the back of the pub which is popular with the kids as there is a bouncy castle & a green space.

Well, if you are looking for friendly service, amazing food,big carpark , summer garden . This is a place for you.

Looks can be deceiving, not the greatest looking pub but the food was awesome! There was a party of 21 of us, adults and children. Highly recommend Kebab on a plate and the pizza's. Will definitely return when in the area

Use to be good food now sometimes good sometimes terrible, i am not regular customer, but i use to visit place or order food once or twice a month, but last three orders was horrible, very disappointed. Do not recommend this place.

We stopped here by chance after visiting Stonham Barns. Its sate to say we want be visiting again! We requested a vegetarian breakfast as there was nothing else on the menu our vegetarian family member would eat, despite the place being near on empty they said no they were too busy and told her to order a pizza instead! 2 of our group ordered cheesy pasta thinking it was mac and cheese but it was stale pasta with a tablespoon of grated cheese on top! The burger was dripping in fat and the burger bun I imagine was fresh a few days before.

I wanted to pop in when passing yesterday, but wanted to see a menu first, i googled for the website only to find their site has been hacked and replaced with a scam one. do not click the website link. I have still clicked 5 stars as this has no reflection on quality of the pub its self and did not want to ruin their rating just warn others.

Had a pleasant meal tonight. Absolutely lovely and hospitable. The pork chop was amazing and it was great to have the opportunity to try something totally different, potato pancake with meat.. Plenty more on the menu you try.

Stopped here for a lunch with friends and it was a huge disappointment. I don't see how it has all the good reviews. It smelt really bad for a start, barely had any lights on and there was one guy sitting in the bar aside from that it was empty. It is very tired inside and loads of the beer was unavailable, as was the pizzas. The reality is quite far from the pictures.

Really don't understand how anyone can have given this pub any of the positive reviews that I read prior to eagerly looking forward to a nice meal. The meal I ordered was so bland and stodgy, it was in fact inedible. The other meals which members of my family ordered were equally of poor quality and was carbohydrate overload. I've given the magpie 1 star rating because the wine was pleasant and the beer also very palatable. Definitely wouldn't be going back for food, atmosphere or spending a penny in the ladies. You've been warned!!

Specialising in Lithuanian food with everything prepared and cooked fresh. You will not be disappointed if you go for normal pub grub or the Lithuanian menu. Even the kids chicken strips are home made! Oh please can I have my Carrot Town Garage cap back if you find it 😊

I live in another city and been visiting family. Heard really good things about this place and was really looking forward to a visit. We had a table booked for the concert. The entertainment was really good, but I was extremely disappointed with the service. As we arrived at 6.30 the program has already started. We asked one of the staff to take our order. She has explained they have many orders and it might be a while. The owner came up to the stage to apologise for the long wait. At 7.30 we still didn't even have our drinks and it started to spoil the evening. We have spoken to staff, they again reassured that it's taking long and apologised. We then waited another half hour and still didn't get our drinks or the food. Staff showed the pile of orders and said they can't do nothing as they have so many people attending. We then asked for water at least as we are thirsty which got delivered swifty. Another half hour later we stood for 20 min at the bar and ordered drinks there. At 10 o'clock neither our drinks or food was delivered. We had a small child with us that was extremely hungry by then. We then went up to the bar again. Just to be told why are you complaining cant you see how busy we are. 4 out of 7 staff are new, we were told to be patient. We then asked to at least tell us where about in a queue are we. Its 10 oclock and we didnt even get our drinks that we ordered at 6.30! And then we learned they have lost our order. By then there was only a little choice of food left and they gave us whatever was there. As food was delivered it started raining into our plates! The toilets were flooding. I must say I would never go back. This was the most unprofessional event I ever attended. No customer service. They were completely unprepared and even blamed the customer for it. Everyone was complaining about not receiving their orders and it wasn't a nice atmosphere. Really disappointed.

We have been ordering for take away all the time and today we have went to eat in. Food is so good and portions are very big. Staff have been very friendly too. 4 starts because pub itself is outdated. Very sad looking. If you are having take away, prepare to wait. It always takes a while. However, it's worth it 😊

On a long journey, finding a place to stop and eat can be hit and miss. Oh boy was this a hit. Best pub food we have had in years, and friendly service, absolutely 100%.

Hey wanna try good English classics or Lithuanian cuisine, what a gem 💎, middle of nowhere dust have to be dull, and this is superb. Portion size and food quality bang on, you probably will be taking some home. Well done Mag Pie, will be coming back, and recommend for sure.

Honestly I can say this is the best pub that serves delicious Lithuanian and British food so far! as you know your getting a fresh delicious meal on every visit we had, we visit.plenty of pubs and restaurants for dining experiencei I can say this pub is Very spacious and seating arrangements are great! The staff are brilliant too, Fab selection of drinks and home beer. Great atmosphere overall! . I’ve read few reviews on here people just wanting to say harsh things without even showing their face or their name just like any where else you get on social media!! Don’t let bad reviews put you off visit The Magpie Pub’n I do recommend when coming in a large group book your table ahead’ the weekend is most busiest for the pub definitely will be visiting again tho.

Booked table for saturday evening couple months ago. Travelled from Colchester when got decent local pub. Tried to order dumplings, but been told they run out of potatoes in kitchen. Really? Probably most famous lithuanian dish at lithuanian pub? Waiter offered us to order something from other menu where was no lithuanian food. Tried to order pizza, but again been told that they run out of flour. Had to be decent evening at lithuanian pub, but end up having one pint of lager. Traveled back to Colchester and had decent dinner at Rovers Tie. Wouldn't go back there again

I was greeted by a friendly lady who showed me two menu's English and lithuania ordered the club salmon Sandwich coffee and soft drink which came to a reasonable £11.50. The food was served very quickly, was huge and very moorish I would recommend this establishment

Drinks rather pricey as coke is from a bottle than a gun. But food is ok with a interesting selection and you get a mound of chips even with the kids portions. We was lucky and they also had a bouncy castle up keep the kids happy

If you want to explore Lithuanian cuisine then this is a great place. The standard menu is also good. All the portions are rather large, however the bill was not at all large.

Fantastic meal and lovely staff. We enjoyed a family meal here last night and the food was excellent. Portions were massive, and everyone enjoyed their food. All cooked fresh and piping hot. A wedding reception was being held but this was lovely as the music and celebrations was great to hear, and didn’t impact on our evening at all. Friendly staff and manager who all took time to talk to us. Looking forward to our next visit. Thanks for a lovely evening

Kind staff and a range of menu choices including official Lithuanian dishes. However, the portion sizes were huge with a child's pizza having a diameter of 9 inches and a normal pizza of 12!

Beautiful place to stop and have a few drinks whilst watching the boats on the broads come and go.

Had a very lovely pint of ‘Home Beer’ very friendly staff, chips GREAT! Had heard a few dodgy things about this place so I’d never gone there, but having popped in with the family there on the way back from visiting ‘The Middy’ (Mid Suffolk steam railway), I’d definitely go there again. That ‘home beer’ definitely needs another try! Not the poshest place but a very good experience.

We have eaten here many times before and it's very good healthy food, with some fantastic dishes that are new to these shores. Clean freindly staff and premises and we always leave with the sense we have just dinned out on holiday.
