Just stopped for a late snack lunch and coffee here today.. lovely coffee and a delicious hot scotch egg. Great service and a lovely view outside on the terrace in the sun! So lucky to have this as a local pub

We had a lovely time at The Magpie on Saturday night, it was super busy, had a great atmosphere and very welcoming to all of us…including the 3 dogs we brought with us! A great pub in a beautiful location, look forward to coming back soon.

Always a lovely dining experience, although we'd reserved a table inside, with the weather being so nice the team were relaxed about us sitting outside for a couple of drinks first. Food was great and service as always was brilliant.

We had a really great Sunday lunch at the Magpie. The food was excellent & the staff were very friendly. It was very busy but still an excellent service, would highly recommend it to anyone!

Lovely spot by the river with good service and food. No parking but some down the street and in a picturesque small village. Worth a visit.

We had a fabulous evening for the excellent cause that is McMillan fundraising event. Food and service both great, nothing is too much trouble for the staff. Thank you in particular to General Manager Ludvik who was checking on his guests enjoyment all evening.

Food took a good while to arrive, even though it was fairly quiet in terms of patrons. Unfortunately, the steak wasn’t cooked medium rare as requested, but ‘well done’. However, the burger I ordered was delicious. After pointing out the steak issue to the server, it was removed from the bill. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Nice Sunday roast, but service could have been better.

Unfortunately, the day we visited they had experienced an issue with the gas in the kitchen and were only able to offer a limited menu. We were advised of the issue as soon as we arrived and the staff were incredibly apologetic. We chose to stay and had an enjoyable meal. The lower marks are reflective of the limited menu on our visit rather than a problem with the food or the venue. We would be more than happy to revisit when in the area. The service from the staff was impeccable throughout.

Visited last night with family , we had travelled down for the races and had pre booked a table. Staff were friendly and attentive but not rushing us . A good selection on the menu - we opted for starters of hummus, bread , olives, and a camembert. Mains of fish & chips , roast lunches of pork and chicken it was all lovely and fresh well needed after a long drive! Kept us topped up with drinks and check backed on all courses. Lovely views . Would definitely return if in the area again

I had my baby shower at the magpie this afternoon. We had the whole of the top of the pub booked out for us. It was a really good large space with plenty of seating and fans due to it being so hot. The bar manager called Kat we had for the day was fabulous so helpful and speedy. Keeping us all hydrated and super friendly. The food was delicious and we were really well looked after. I would highly recommend.

Had a lovely roast dinner here. Came with a friend and we were served by Phoebe who was excellent. Very polite and did not hesitate to bend over backwards to make our meal experience fantastic.

Lovely setting 3 of the meals were ok especially Sea Bass, I had Kyiv this was over cooked,dry & no garlic butter in it, all the desserts were really nice. Unfortunately for us we went out to have a quiet catch-up but there was a birthday party there & we were sat next to them, we did understand it was a nice evening & they were busy.

To many big dogs in garden area. Danger to the staff trying to serve customers stepping over dogs. Do not agree with dogs amongst tables that are close together or sitting on chairs that are meant for people

My friend and I had the fish and chips the portion size was good but the batter was too thick, in my opinion

It was a last minute decision to go out but I was able to get a spot. The team was so friendly, buzzing atmosphere delicious food. Ended up staying longer than I planned. I will be back again

Great as always Perfect lunch on the river with friendly service

Firstly the service was good. The food was very average and pretty expensive for standard pub fayre. Too much batter on the fish and hardly any fish, miniscule portion of peas, chips ok. Quite dark and gloomy inside and not particularly clean. This was my first visit and I would not return, there are far better riverside pubs.

Always awesome and now that the weather is starting to get better it was lovely to sit in the beer garden overlooking the river

Sadly this was not a great experience. Two roast dinners - one chicken and one pork. The pork roast was okay. The chicken was very disappointing as there was hardly any chicken at all. For the money, it felt like a rip off really. It was just a tiny drumstick and what looked like a wing! One of our group had the burger which tasted very nice but both the burger and the fries were only warm - not hot. Plus there was no veg or salad with the burger / just a burger and fries for £16/17 which seems a lot for not very much tbh. The roast potatoes in both meals were not cooked very well, not crispy and too firm in the middle / could have done with more cooking time. For dessert we ordered the raspberry tiramisu and two sticky toffee puddings. The raspberry tiramisu was unpleasant and couldn’t be eaten. The other desserts were just okay. We had booked quite a few days in advance and the pub was not overly busy, so we were very disappointed that we were sat at a table away from the windows that overlook the river. This area was very cold and dark and just felt a bit miserable. All three of us were cold the whole time we were there. The staff however, were all really lovely so it’s a shame that everything else let the pub down for us, particularly as in the past the food was always great. Won’t be rushing back!

We held our Fathers wake here. Lovely bright function room with views of the river Thames. Helpful friendly staff and delicious food. We would not hesitate to use The Magpie again for future events.

I've been to the Magpie twice for Sunday lunch recently. I had the roast beef. The most recent time was Mothers Day and I got a free glass of prosecco. Generous portions, meat cooked nicely and good roast potatoes. There was a separate additional jug of gravy for each plate which I really appreciated. My husband had porcetta which he reported was very tasty. Our daughters had fish and chips which were nicely done and crispy. We came with our small dog and the staff were very friendly and helpful, getting him a water bowl and blanket to lie on. All the staff are really friendly. I would highly recommend this pub.

Our business held a Sales Awards night at the Magpie in February. Organising the evening with Kat was so easy. She was very accommodating and had some great ideas to make the night amazing. The venue looked fantastic, the food was excellent and staff were great - a really wonderful night was enjoyed by over 40 members of our team. Thank you once again to everyone at The Magpie for a fab night, we will definitely be looking forward to returning for future drinks/meals/events!!

We had my husband’s 40th Birthday party at The Magpie. The venue was perfect upstairs. It’s lovely as the pub overlooks the river. The staff were amazing, helped me with the decorations, and were so helpful and welcoming, I couldn’t have asked for for!!! I love this pub and so pleased we chose it for his party.

We held an awards night for our company at the Magpie in February. The venue, food and staff were fantastic and a great night was enjoyed by all. Special thanks to Cat for all her help in organising everything with us. We had over 40 team members at the event and I'm sure you will have gained some new regulars from it. :-) Thank you once again, looking forward to hosting future events with you.

I had a lovely lunch with my family at the magpie, the food was amazing and well presented. The customer service was fantastic and will definitely be returning.

I hosted my sister in laws baby shower on Sunday and I am still overwhelmed by how amazing this venue is. The staff couldn’t have been more attentive, the views were incredible, the food was superb, the atmosphere was just stunning. Everyone had such a lovely day and especially the mummy to be. Can’t thank the magpie team enough for all their efforts and hospitality, I’m going to have every event here in future 5* !

A first time visitor to The Magpie due to their inaugural Vinyl Night. Lovely pub, good staff, nice atmosphere, spacious, and welcoming with a good selection of ales. The Vinyl Night DJs played a great variety of tracks in the upstairs room, creating a lively, feel-good vibe. While the downstairs bar provided a place to relax and chat away from the music, if preferred. Look forward to returning.

As a regular I should probably mark The Magpie down so you don’t come here and ruin it for me. They keep the beer well, care about the choice and the food is very good. The people behind the bar are friendly and the service excellent. The garden by the river is a gem. Can’t fault it sadly…

I came for the monthly Two for Joy vinyl night. Loved it. What I thought was an informal vinyl thing became an impromptu club night. Will be back next month. Great music, great DJs, great fun.

We had such a fun evening at The Magpie last night. They had a vinyl night on upstairs and we had a great time listening to the eclectic range of music and having a little dance. Looking forward to coming back for the next session.

Turned up for a music night on Thursday was excellent. not only a great location and pub but the music was sublime a proper music night with lots of friendly faces loving their tunes. 5 star x

I recently had my work party here. 50 people attended, absolutely brilliant. Free of charge to hire and Kat really couldn’t do enough for us all. Management is very helpful, professional and very friendly. So welcoming, defiantly be back with family and friends.

A well established dating from the 1800's an old world pub and restaurant alongside the river Thames in Lower Sunbury. Good range of food and drink to be had. The Grand Order of Water Rats was founded there in 1889.

My go to local pub for food and drinks! Cosy fires going on in the winter and a riverside patio in the summer! Food is good and the service is great! Kat and the rest of the staff always make us feel welcome every time we visit!

The steaks really were rare! Loved the Wing Wednesday- very piquant and tasty.

We had a lovely meal but had to wait a while before it came, possibly because there was also a wedding upstairs. It would have been helpful to be made aware of this or be updated, without having to ask. Lucky I allowed extra time of lunch, as we had a play to get to, unfortunately we missed out on dessert and coffee.

We had our sons christening at the magpie last weekend and the management, staff and venue were all amazing. The food was fantastic and arrangements by management were faultless. They couldn’t do enough . Would recommend to anyone hiring the upstairs

Afternoon party for about 20 after a christening. Lovely pub on the banks of the Thames and opposite Sunbury's beautiful Walled Garden (with public car park). We had a room with wonderful views over the pub's terrace to the river. Friendly and efficient staff. Katarzyna was great in helping us to organise the event. Really excellent food (sandwiches, finger food) to go with the very good and reasonably priced house champagne. Tremendous place for a small party. Looking forward to returning for a quiet Sunday lunch by the river.

Had an enjoyable meal. Disappointing that 3 of the main courses, of what is a relatively small selection, weren't available. Service was fairly slow even though pub wasn't very busy. We weren't in a hurry though, so we had a very pleasant evening and were able to chat across our group of 6 easily as there wasn't any intrusive background noise.

This spot is amazing for lunch, we have quick service and the staff were very welcoming , especially our waiter Kat she was very quick to get our drinks even when she was very busy and was very charismatic, our lunch was superb would recommend 100% !!

We've taken three groups of friends to lunch here, this year. All 3 trips were excellent. The staff are friendly and the service is very good. The food is good to very good, judged by a high standard, and it is always superbly presented. The garden overlooking the river is excellent and incredibly relaxing. So too is the upstairs function room, which overlooks the garden and river. We shall go there again, and we shall take groups of friends there again. Basil and Penny Rickard

The team were very warm and welcoming. The room for our group was excellent, bright with good views of the river. The food was great. I had a Thai veggie curry which was excellent. Friends commented how hot the food was... always important

Beautiful outside area over looking the Thames. Food mediocre. Some veggies hard, sauce forgotten . Slightly expensive for what it was.

The location is awesome but the food and service very disappointing. I ordered a burger and the side portion of the chips was aimed at a toddler rather than an adult. My friend ordered a sharer and it was definitely a one person's portion. We waited 30 min to order a dessert (ended up going to the bar as no one and coming around). We waited 45 min for it, never appeared, even though we asked 2 waiters. It was added to our bill though. Good vibe for drinks

Impossible to reach them by phone, tried 11 times during the course of the afternoon. Upon receiving menus for an early (6:30pm) dinner, we were told that 3 0f the 5 main courses had run out. That's 60% of the mains at 6:30 pm! We were then alerted that 1 of the snack dishes had run out. Quality of food average. They could also benefit from employing cleaner as tables, chairs, in fact all surfaces tacky...

Lovely setting on the river! Midweek but still busy so advise to Book beforehand to avoid disappointment! Food was great although expensive for a pub but I suppose you’re paying for the setting so just be aware

Wrathet was beautiful which helped. Outside table next to the river. Food was good but a lttle expensive for a lunch. Other than that was exvellent.

Amazing place, incredibly dog friendly. This is our fourth visit and each time the food has been impeccable, we’ve tried half the dishes between us and our friends and both vegetarian and non vegetarian have been so tasty; and the service has been excellent. Great new manager, who really cares and loves dogs! Highly recommend.
