The Mad Ox in Wakefield

First time to ponte and visited a few bars. Certainly wouldn’t rush back. Really shoddy decor inside and toilets disgusting. Drinks ok

First time I’ve been it’s small but wasn’t too busy at the time we got there , bar staff seemed a little inexperienced serving , the ladies toilet area is the smallest I’ve ever been in , you have to synchronise washing your hands to drying them if any one is waiting in that area for the toilet

Had a great friday afternoon in the Mad Ox with friends and some family. Good selection of drinks and great staff behind the bar. lots of good music on and we loved the atmosphere of the place. only downside was its only a little place and if the outside area cant be used due to weather you are a little stacked up inside. give it a go, we loved it and have been back many times since.

Good little bar loads of choice to drink from spirits to wines and ales Small but good atmosphere which makes it a good place to nip into

Great little bar, very small though, we went when it was busy (around 20 people) and you couldn't move or get to the bar or toilets. Pics of dogs on walls so its dog friendly.

Popped in for one after driving past a few times and thinking it looked worth a visit - we weren’t wrong! Good atmosphere, friendly staff, good selection of drinks.

We go to Pontefract every week . Always visit the Mad ox. Lovely pub. Nice staff. Nice atmosphere. Went tonight. All ok then we were sat there and on next table A BIG DOG APPEARED!!! Hello its Saturday night. Folk dressed up . Dont want a bloody smelly dog in my company!! I'm allergic to animals. Dont expect them them to appear in a lovely bar like the Mad ox. Please sort this out! Cannot believe this in a bar in Pontefract.

tried for the first time on a Saturday Night. Place was heaving but staff were working impressively from the tiny bar. good vibe despite being packed. Very good range of beer, spirits and a small cotail menu Friendly efficient staff Outside seating areas for the dry weather as well as seating inside. Be interesting to try it on a less busy night as well to see if there is a different ambience
