Had another lovely stay at the Madhatters tearoom. Great food and accommodation. Pauline and Mark are lovely people and always make you feel welcome. Set off for early start home and Pauline supplied lovely sandwiches and cakes. The weather was beautiful even after a stormy start on Saturday it turned out well. Will look forward to visiting again. Thankyou Pauline and Mark. X👍

Stayed there in the B & B part of the business, with a friend and Stanley the dog, for a flying visit to Hayle. We'd initially booked for just the one night but were made so welcome by Pauline, the proprietor, that we stayed an extra night. Our breakfast in the main tearoom was amazing (do try the Hog's Pudding if you're having a full English) with plenty of choice. The distraction of the cakes sat in the chiller was tough! Our rooms, single and twin, were spotless and the beds very comfortable. Views from the bedroom across the tidal Hayle estuary at the front are lovely - if you're a birder, there's loads to see. Our schedule meant we didn't get a chance to sample the delights of the quirky Tea Room itself, but we could see that it was very popular. We bought some cake before we left to take back with us and cannot recommend Pauline's baking skills enough - Coffee and Walnut, and Carrot Cake to die for! All in all, we were very happy with every aspect of the Mad Hatters Tea Rooms and B & B and will definitely stay there again next time we're in the area. Thank you, Pauline, for being a great and accommodating host. The Mad Hatters Tea Rooms was the icing on the cake for our visit to Hayle.

If you are in Hayle I would highly recommend eating here. The owner was friendly and welcoming from the moment we walked through the door. She bakes amazing cakes but the quiche was INCREDIBLE! I would recommend asking her what she has been baking and what she would recommend. Huge portion sizes, great value for money and a lovely experience allround. I will definitely be returning.

It must be about seven years since we last visited the Mad Hatter and seeing as we only had one day left of our holiday we decided to have a Cornish cream tea. The food was excellent, still warm scones with jam and clotted cream complete with a pot of hot tea. The lady serving was very nice and friendly and who can complain about sitting outdoors on a sunny Sunday morning? Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area.

Just returned from staying at The Madhatter. Had another lovely stay. Pauline and Mark are a great couple friendly and welcoming, nothings too much trouble. Fantastic big breakfasts. Nice clean comfortable rooms. The Alice in Wonderland theme Cafe sells delicious homemade cakes and sandwiches etc. Lovely sitting area outside. We have stayed here several times and never been disappointed. We will be going again. There's a little sign that says come as strangers leave as friends and it's so true. Thankyou Pauline and Mark for a lovely stay. From Jean and Mick. X

We have just left this tearoom after having 2 cream teas and my son had a Pannini and milkshake. We felt watched over towards the end of our time by the owner which made us feel uncomfortable. Not impressed seeing a family who had booked a table for 12.30 been turned away for been 6 minutes late as they was told the table was rebooked for 1pm!!. How can you possibly allow only half an hour for someone to have a table. We were the only people there and 2 other lots of people were also turned away one set of 6 people were seated and then told to leave- as table was booked for 12.30 and this was the table that was also rejected at the door for been 6 minutes late - no trying to accommodate them in anyway and not the way to run a business or deserving of customers to visit. Not all negative - place was attractive and appealing - just the attitude of the owner which made us feel uncomfortable. Even if asked would not be going again as first impressions count.

Went to go for breakfast as all the signs were all out point towards saying cafe open. Front door was open so went inside. The member of staff we spoke was very rude and abrupt told his we having got anything for 30 minutes and the front door shouldn't be open! And then we was basically thrown out of the door with it slammed behind us

The lady who seated us was lovely and friendly. The cream tea was delicious. The scones were warm, moist and and melted in the mouth. The jam was delicious and the clotted cream finished it off perfectly. I loved this quirky little cafe and recommend a visit.

If your passing or live in hayle then mad hatters is worth popping into and having some food or maybe even staying the night! I Have a bacon and egg bap 🍔 most mornings because it’s the best bacon and egg bap I’ve ever had. I have no idea how they can make them taste so good. If I could give them 10 stars I really would. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

As with all my reviews, let me be clear, I’m not nasty, arrogant or a person that moans for the sake of moaning. I also accept places for what they are and my standards are adjusted accordingly but one thing I simply will not tolerate is rudeness and the owner of this place delivered it in spades. On arrival having sanitised my hands (covid) I was ignored and then after several minutes and deciding to take myself outside to meet my friends I was promptly and rudely asked “what do you think you’re doing?” I explained I was there to meet friends who were already sat outside. The owner made me leave the establishment and come back in and then proceeded to deliberately make me wait another 5minutes. She then demanded I sanitise my hands - I refused saying I already had. I was finally escorted reluctantly to the table where my friends were only to find out she had been rude to them too. I ordered a mediocre latte - the milk had been over heated and the coffee was average at best. I was going to eat but decided against it due to the rudeness of the owner. The cafe itself was cute and the speed of service fine but the menu was distinctly average looking if priced fairly. Now I understand people find Covid difficult and it can put a strain on businesses but she was not busy (2 other tables in) and she was not clear on what is expected in her establishment. Frankly, all of this is irrelevant because I cannot accept how down right rude and unwelcoming she was to me and my friends. My friend even said to her how rude she was being and she flatly denied it and did not offer an apology. I can’t recommend this place as I actually feel insulted by the owner. She needs to learn some manners and she needs to run her business more effectively - Avoid this arrogant, rude, real life Basil Fawlty and go somewhere else.

After visiting Paradise Park, we fancied somewhere for lunch and some cream teas before heading home. I stumbled along this lovely cafe. The cafe was very cute. We had a jacket potato with chilli, a bacon and brie panini and cornish cream tea. The food was lovely and hearty. The scones were warm, soft and very light. Delicious!

We live locally and randomly elected to head out for a cream tea this afternoon. We thought we’d try Trevaskis Farm, but due to the bank holiday it was overcrowded and raucous, and felt a bit harried....We left before placing our order, and getting back to the car checked Trip Advisor for a local tea room - up came Mad Hatter so off we headed. We were not disappointed. We’d arrived during that golden time between lunch and afternoon tea, and had their cream tea in the calm oasis that is their courtyard garden. The cream tea itself was perfect - fresh and warm homemade scones served with just the right amount of jam and clotted cream. The tea was also perfect, the ideal blend. We are delighted with this gem tucked away in Hayle, and glad we voted with our feet and put business to Mad Hatter’s - we will be back

We had a choice of sandwich fillings on brown or white bread. We also chose the scones and cream to follow. The sandwich (we both had prawns) was lovely. It had a nice sauce and it came with a crisp salad and some crisps. The scones were warm and we had a very good helping of both jam and cream. It was delicious and was filling. Highly recommended. Came here for lunch. It is a small tea room. I wouldn't advise coming in with a pushchair unless there is no-one else in. Given it was a Monday and empty, I was surprised that the high chair and some if the baby toys had dried-on food stuck to them. The plough man's lunch was ok-small, basic, edible. Nothing special. I didn't leave the premises particularly feeling as if I'd had a great lunch.

Absolutely awful. Most unhygienic filthy hovel I have ever set foot in. The welcoming words as we walked in were ...'yes...?' Very rude service, tried to charge us double then told us 'it was how they worked out tea per person which is different to the menu' and then after charging us extra said 'do you get it now?' in a very patronising tone. The table was covered in old food and spilt milk and tea which she then proceeded to wipe onto our laps. Very rude Landlady and made us feel very uncomfortable and quite frankly ruined our afternoon. avoid avoid avoid unless you like rude filthy rip off merchants.
