Unassuming on the outside and a bit off the beaten path at the top end of Watford’s highsteet, this place is worth going out of your way for. These guys serve Climpsons beans and do it great justice, I’ve been coming for years and never had a bad espresso. They also have a fantastic selection of vinyls. Service is consistently great as well, staff always up for a chat. Food wise options are limited but what they do have is fresh and of decent quality. If you’re after a place with big comfy sofas this isn’t for you, just a few tables inside (and a few outside) but if you're after something a bit different come down soak up the good music and relaxed vibe, and enjoy the LP

We had some time in Watford, so had a coffee here. The LP-style attracted me, and it was very cosy. The coffee was great. I also had the avocado on toast as a simple but very tasty lunch. Awesome prices! Specialy compared to London Center.

My friend and I remembered this little place tucked away at the end of the high street. Wanting to support a small independent we popped in for a snack and coffee. Friendly and helpful staff. Great coffee although a tiny cup for the cost. Nice food too and reasonably priced. Only negative was that my friend wanted soya milk in her coffee but there was an extra charge of 50p, which is extortion for a splash of milk. She reluctantly opted for a herb tea instead. She said this put her off ever returning, which is a shame.

I arranged to meet a friend here and what an excellent place it is. The drinks were great, and brought to the table. There is lego to fiddle with. It's sells vinyl. It has excellent cakes and does light lunch type snacks (sandwiches etc). It's only small, it's off the main run of huge bar type restaurants at the pond end of town. But go to find it, it's worth it Oh, friendly staff too :-)

Now this is a great idea (particularly if you love vinyl)!! I've visited a few times and love the coffee, cakes, atmosphere and a browse at the records. I took one of my best music buddies and he loved it too (and looked through EVERY record). It really does what it says on the tin and I cannot fault it. If this is your thing then I'd recommend popping in if you are passing rather than making a great big effort to visit (as there's not much else around apart from roads and a clone-town shopping centre). Love it!!

Placed a little off the beat, this is a more recent addition to Watford LARGE choice of cafes. But this is a place with a difference. Records are placed in bins outside and tables too. It is smallish and ethnic in feel. Delicious homemade food on offer with inventive and very tasty options. All reasonably priced and coffee is exceptional. Your every need will be catered to. Don't hesitate to give them a visit!

I visited this Cafe today (19 May 17) after it was recommended by a friend. I am not generally a coffee drinker but thought I would give it a go. The coffee was so tasty and moreish. The customer service was excellent as was the atmosphere. Plenty of vinyl to browse and buy if inclined. There is even lego for the 'little people'. Didn't try the cake but they looked delicious. The interior is relatively small with not much seating that only adds to the atmosphere. I will definitely be visiting again...soon. Highly recommended indeed.

I was walking through Watford today, when it began to rain and I had to duck for cover. i must have done something right in a previous life as I was walking past the LP Cafe and decided to duck in. Great place, the lady who owns it welcomed me in past the vinal and vintage clothes for sale to a great space. Abbey Road was playing and I ordered a pot of Earl Grey and slice of carrot cake actually made by the owner's mother in law. Everything was great and i can't imagine a better place to spend an hour and let the world go by. thank you to everyone involved. whenever I'm in Watford i'll be making sure to allow some time to pop in and play lego and have a cuppa. best wishes

Este es un pequeño y agradable café y compite con muchas tiendas de café pero cobra precios mucho más altos, especialmente para los sándwiches. El costo promedio de las otras cafeterías en Watford son 3 libras. 00 a 3 libras. 50.

Having recently moved to the area I was keen to locate some local coffee houses. I came across this place purely by chance when returning from the park with my wife and boy. I was served by an bearded cheery gentleman who welcomed us and took our order. Both me and my wife really enjoyed the coffee and my son loved the Lego provided. Having moved from east London I was dreading having to survive on costa's and ......star bucks (Yuck). But it seems Watford has some competition after all.

Great place to meet your friends for a nice coffee and a catch up! Always a very relaxed atmosphere with the music always being top quality at a nice volume. Don't personally drink coffee so always have something else but friends of mine have said they make a really mean coffee. Staff are always lovely and up for a chat. You're much better off going here than to a high street brand such as costa!

A hidden gem in Watford! Utterly lovely little café, well worth seeking out.The main draw for me is the range of second hand and new vinyl, hand-picked by the staff. If you want to listen to anything before you buy it, just ask, and they'll put it on for you. They sell some books too, mainly music-related.The food's lovely - wholesome paninis and toasties are my favourites. Their other speciality is coffee, but as I don't drink it, I'm not really qualified to comment! The staff are all lovely - very welcoming, friendly and relaxed, and always happy to chat about the vinyl gems on offer. This is a great local independent business set up and run by people who truly love music and coffee, and it's great to have somewhere in Watford that has its own personality, rather than being part of an identikit anonymous chain.

Unfortunately, the regeneration of Watford town centre has led to the opening of chains, chains, and more chains. The LP Cafe is one of the rare gems in the town that offers an alternative - great music, coffee and people, in relaxed surroundings. They also offer a variety of creative events and workshops you can get involved in, usually for free!

We had to visit The LP Cafe after they were DJ ing for my friends 50th birthday party last weekend! On our arrival I found them very attentive & welcoming. We ordered a coffee & toasted sandwich & absorbed the retro feel whilst we waitedCoffee was beautifully topped with an arty heart/leaf design and very tastyThe sandwich was delicious-fresh, inviting & flavoursome! Their counter had lots of tempting wares on display too, especially a mixed salad with avocado caught my eye. After we had finished our refreshments we mooched around their vinyl items for sale, which was enjoyable too.Although its situated on the edge of the top of the High street , do try & visit it - I know we will definitely go back soon!

I sought out the LP Cafe in Watford after reading a write-up in a local paper. I say 'sought' as, has been mentioned in a previous review, it is a bit out of the way. When I did find it though it was well worth the effort. There is the added bonus that if you shop at Sainsburys or Iceland it would take just a few minutes to walk round to the cafe, and you can take in the sight of the newly refurbished 'Heron' pond on your way!We ordered a filter coffee and a cappuccino plus a slice of lemon drizzle cake, which I am told by my husband was absolutely delicious - very fresh and light. The coffee was the best, made in a huge Italian coffee machine and very well presented. The interior of the cafe is very basic with not much seating inside, but it's adequate if you are just stopping for a quick break. There are tables outside, but these too could be brightened up to look more inviting. If there was a bit more money to be flashed around, I am sure that this cafe could be an absolute gold mine as people would be inclined to linger longer. My only other (minor) gripe is that the service was a bit slow, but I put this down to it being a new enterprise and was happy to wait for a good quality product.I hope it has continuing success and that the proprietors benefit from the general upgrading of the top of the town. It's nice to see a small business being set up and run with such enthusiasm.

Despite being in a tucked away corner of central Watford it's well worth going that extra a couple of hundred metres to get to this lovely little cafe. They take care to source excellent quality coffee and serve it the right way, which is a rarity in Watford. Couple this with the good music and the nice staff make this a bit of a treasure!

It might not be decked out like a high end coffee bar, but it offers so much more soul! the LP cafe has music at its centre and sells LP's along with coffee. the music that is played is excellent and they have gone for alot of great little ideas that make it a great experience. such as the tiny milk bottles, the lego shapes on the table and the tip competition!!

Dropped in for a coffee and enjoyed the experience. Excellent expresso and a delicious cake. The team really know their teas and coffee. Great, friendly atmosphere with LP records playing and for sale. The kids were delighted with the Lego which was so good on a rainy day. This is what Watford has been missing . Somewhere really special and value for money.

I've just had my second visit to the LP Café and I have to say what a great place it is. It's really good to know that Watford is getting some alternatives to the dreary chain cafes (Ocean Bells at the other end of the High St is another good example). The children loved it because of the availability of Lego and books to keep them occupied (the adults appreciated it too). The appearance of the place is eye-catching with the old records scattered around and the soundtrack is present without being obtrusive. The staff were very friendly and food came promptly, but with enough time to let you know that it had been prepared freshly. The menu isn't huge which is fine by me. We had the daily special of an open German-style sandwich, with salami and soft cheese, with pickle and sweet red cabbage on the side. Try getting that at Costa! Plenty of plainer grilled ham and cheese sandwiches if the special isn't your sort of thing. We also had great iced coffee, much better than the sickly gloop that you get from St**bu**s.I really hope LP's is a success, it's just slightly round the corner of The Parade to make you wonder if you've gone too far and there isn't a lot else around this end of the High St. Get going folks!

I’ve been coming here for years. Many times I’ve felt that the amazing food has forgiven the cold service. Today I felt compelled to leave this review. The waitress behind the counter in particular was very standoffish when I politely asked if the cruffins had eggs. She wasn’t keen on checking until I insisted and she was sure they do. Turns out, they didn’t. Since allergies are not displayed, it has to be ok for customers to ask and staff should be welcoming of the question. She was on her phone pretty much the whole time and I felt like my presence was disturbing her. Not very hospitable to say the least. The food is fantastic though! Serious question to the owners. People are not rude by default; are you treating your staff well enough to motivate them? Literally no one was smiling there- are you doing something wrong with your management style?
