The Lower Deck in Highland

Entered the restaurant to wait for a table. No info visible with regards to wait to be seated or grab and table and we’ll be over. Eyeballed by 2 waitress - to be fair they weren’t idle - who just ignored us! They saw us but quickly looked away. No greeting, no acknowledgement, nothing. Even if they had said wait there for 10 minutes we would have. Ignored for a full 3 minutes so left as competition around here is evdient.

Porzioni piccolissime, cibo mediocre, conto salatissimo. Due piatti di pesce di cui un mini filetto di salmone (buono) e un piatto di pesce e patate minuscolo, dove praticamente non c’era traccia di pesce ma solo patate bollite e una sorta di besciamella e tre fette di pane da toast da discount. Contorni tutti a pagamento. Da bere due bottigliette di acqua. Il tutto per 45 £. Non ci torneremo e non lo consiglio.

Bought fish and chips from the carry side of the business, not great, more batter than fish, sat outside in a car parking space on random chairs, strange hard bits among the chips which were good. We had asked if we could have a table inside and bring our little dog in with us, such a rude and aggressive response, very scary, not up to speed with today's dog friendly atmosphere, would not recommend at all, the fish and chip cabin further up the road to the harbour has tables, no view but much better, avoid the aggressive and unpleasant experience.

No recomendaría nunca este sitio por la mala calidad del servicio. Fuimos a cenar un domingo porque no había casi nada abierto en Portree y este era el único restaurante del puerto que daba de cenar. Había dos camareras que no sumaban una por su ineficiencia. Una hora y media de fila para entrar y dentro mesas sin recoger, otras preparadas en las que no sentaban clientes, todas las comandas a la vez y luego una hora de cocina parada...pésima gestión. Respecto a la comida, ninguna queja. Servían rápido y todo estaba preparado al momento. Un poco caro para lo que comías (un plato de 5 vieiras con ensalada 24£ y uno de medio kilo de mejillones con patatas 17£) pero los precios eran similares en todos los restaurantes.

Les portions sont petites et les anneaux de calmars sans aucun goût, personnellement je ne conseille pas du tout si vous trouvez une autre table n'hésitez pas

Underwhelming, from lining up outside , only one waitress who did a great job considering, but most disappointing was the food , we had the calamari and seafood soup for entrée, soup lacked seafood and was mostly potatoes, calamari was battered so could hardly taste the calamari. Mains we had the Seafood pie and Salmon . Salmon was overcooked and pie again lacked seafood mostly potatoes. Overall average experience for the price .

This tiny restaurant came highly recommended by our guide. It didn't disappoint. Folks complaining about space should not be surprised when they walk in. I found the staff charming and gave excellent recommendations. We were able to take two tables for the six adults in no time at all. Lucked out because when we left there was a line out the door. Everyone loved what they ordered and I wouldn't hesitate to stop by again!

Não precisa de reserva, então é uma opção, uma das únicas, pra quem não reservou com antecedência os demais restaurantes. A Ilha tem poucas opções de restaurantes, a maioria com reserva antecipada. A torta de peixe estava boa, o prato de carne de porco tinha osso (costelinha), mas ok.

C’est pas lower deck c’est lower restaurant !! Cullen skink en entrée : on cherche le haddock ( petits bouts MICROCOPIQUES).. que des pommes de terre Les moules en plats : on cherche les 500grammes annoncés (200gr au maximum) avec genre de sauce soja .. La grosse arnaque du voyage ! Une serveuse qui se démène et j’espère verra son tips de CB Une patronne peu avenante et qui fait son chef avec abus de pouvoir sur la queue dehors (ne veut voir qu’une seule tête ) Le problème c’est que le dimanche tous les restaurants du ports sont fermés et donc seul ouvert d’où la queue .. Me suit fait avoir mais obligé d’aller la .. j’avais pourtant lu les commentaires de mon prédécesseur que je partage tout à fait !

Nous avons été vraiment très déçu par ce restaurant. Attrape touristes, assiettes très peu remplies, prix exorbitants, peu de choix. Nous vous conseillons de passer votre route.

Fantastic food and service. We went there twice as the food was so good. Can't recommend this place highly enough! And they have decent wines too!

Excellent food! Semi limited menu but they do the food well. We arrived at 5:45 for dinner service (they open at 5:30) and they were packed! You do have to wait in line outside and they do not take reservations or hold tables for you. You have to wait and if you have a larger party, they may sit a party of 2 prior to your table. We were told it would be a 45 minute wait which was fairly accurate. I’d recommend this place on the food alone. They did run out of the scallops on the night we went but I believe this was due to the catch that day. Plenty of locals also in the restaurant. They are a cash only restaurant so consider this. There is allegedly an ATM nearby.

We got a table as soon as it opened at 5.30pm. They took our order straight away and served drinks . My wife and I both had fish and chips which arrived very quickly, almost too quickly. The chips were dry and judging by their texture reheated from early. The fish was very thin and could easily have been bought from the local co op and heated up. The peas again looked reheated. Overall very bog standard food at high end prices. They only accepted cash today. Not sure if that was a one off or is a regular thing. But could, if inclined decide their own profitablity. Service was good but the test for me is would I eat there again. Answer no.

Muy buena atención en un lugar en el que es difícil encontrar mesa sin reservar. Una carta con opciones de platos típicos, más que en otros restaurantes de alrededor. En plena bahía, una opción muy correcta con personal agradable

The restaurant doesn't take bookings so you have to get there early to join the que. We managed to get in for the first sitting. Fast service, food came out quick. The Cullen Skink and Scampi were delicious. In fact it's the best scampi we've ever had. Good value too. If it's raining when you go along, take an umbrella, believe me it's worth the wait...

Das Essen war sehr lecker und es ist für jeden was dabei. Die Bedienung war schnell und sehr nett. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Il locale apre alle 18. Alle 17.45 alla ricerca di un posto per cenare vediamo una certa coda fuori dal locale. Ci siamo messi in coda ed alle 18 in punto ci hanno fatto entrare. Eravamo gli ultimi dopo di noi non c'era più posto. WOW. Per cena ci siamo fatti portare un tortino di mare (Captain Pie) ed un gran classico Fish & Chips, entrambi ottimi! Ovviamente se c'era la cosa fuori prima dell'apertura c'era un motivo: si mangia veramente bene!! Prezzi nella media e locale molto piacevole, alla buona ..

In occasione del nostro soggiorno a Portree abbiamo scelto questo ristorante leggendo il menù esposto all'esterno del locale. Non è possibile prenotare quindi abbiamo dovuto metterci in coda e dopo un'attesa di 40 minuti abbiamo ottenuto il tavolo. Staff puntuale e gentile, anche nella spiegazione dei piatti e, nel mio caso, delle birre di produzione locale. Sono presenti diverse ma non molte proposte vegetariane. Ottima cena e un rapporto qualità prezzo nella media. Consiglio, se disponibili, di assaggiare le cozze servite con pane e burro, eccellenti!

Very average food and very high prices. Portion size for the scallops was tiny. Calamari didn’t seem fresh at all. Don’t be fooled by the queues outside. On the up side service was quick and helpful.

Bonjour C'est la troisième fois que nous venons y manger dans ce petit restaurant sympatique. Il est vrais qu'en 7 ans nous avons vue quelques changements concernant la cuisine, notamment le fish and chips, cette année il était comment dire pas du tout top pour un restaurant de port ! Il n'y avais plus de saumon quel dommage 😞 Concernant le dessert il n'était pas fameux ! Nous y reviendrons car ce restaurant est notre repaire...mais nous espérons ne pas repartir déçu 😉

Never have I ordered a plate of fish and chips and only eaten half. This was worst fish and chips I have ever experienced. The fish was dry and tasteless and the chips were so rubbery you could bend them in half without breaking them. Again the chips were disgusting and tasteless.

We saw a queue and joined it, surely a queue is the best recommendation for a seafood restaurant? Once open the service fast and atmosphere was good. Queues outside constantly which was a little off putting, but it’s obviously a popular destination. Food wasn’t what you would expect of a harbour seafood restaurant, catering more for the masses than seafood experiences. That said, fish and chips scored 7/10, fish pie scored 9/10 and pan-seared scallops were delicious but plate was unimaginative so dropped to a 7/10. Scoring from the family not restaurant critics. I enjoyed the food and fast turnaround, but felt the meals were on the expensive side for a quick in-out experience. Also, Irn Bru not on the drinks menu but is available.

Notre repas : scampi, fish pie et banoffee cheesecake, était excellent. Serveuses souriantes. Pas de réservation, donc il peut y avoir beaucoup d'attente si vous êtes plus de deux. Mais ça vaut le coup.

De plek aan de haven is mooi en men kan er niet reserveren. Wij vonden het eten karig. De groenten bij ons gerecht waren niet voldoende gekookt en behoorlijk rauw. De vis was goed maar er was maar beperkt groente en een paar schijfjes aardappel die verder vrij smakeloos was. Het toetje, de chocolade trillen was echt slecht, niet vers bereid, een ingedroogde halve aardbei, veel droge kruimelig soort chocoladecake met een harde, gedroogde room er boven. Met de klacht hierover werd verder niets gedaan. Eindconclusie, te duur, te weinig en niet echt lekker.

Right on the harbourside the Lower Deck offered an excellent menu and specials board. The mussels starter was absolutely delicious, served in a piquant sauce. Right on the side of the harbour, very popular and essential to book. Have no hesitation in recommending.
