Fantastic food, amazing, in fact. I have no idea how this restaurant doesn't have Michelin stars it is that good. We had a great meal and would highly recommend.

My family and I had high hopes for Station Road. Their focus on local ingredients and inventive cuisine was exactly what we were looking for. Unfortunately, the fantastic food they serve is marred by uneven, inattentive, and, at times, bizarre service. After drink orders were taken, they came out one at a time over several minutes—an odd start to the meal. One of our drinks was delivered and misidentified…twice. It was finally identified several minutes into our meal as a cocktail that had clearly been ordered by another table. Water glasses sat empty for long periods of time and were only refilled after we asked. Wine pairings with our mains didn’t appear until long after the food was delivered and had gone cold. After voicing my concerns to one of the owners about the poor service, she became defensive and provided a non-apology. The kitchen is clearly working hard to produce fantastic food. Everything was delicious. Unfortunately, the front of the house ruined what could have been a spectacular dinner.

We found this lovely restaurant in the Michelin guide, but why is it not starred? Over recent months, we've enjoyed several lovely dinners at 1- and 2-starred restaurants. OK, some have bigger wine menus - but then Station Road's challenged our palates in ways that much bigger menus would not. We'd normally ask the Somellier for a Spanish white and then maybe a French red with the meat course. Their wine list, although more limited, pushed us towards UK wines and fortified wines - even from Wales. We would have never tried these but were very pleasantly surprised. The food from the tasting menu was definitely worthy of a star (or two). Perfectly balanced amuse bouches. A lovely introductory course, beautifully prepared mains and really well-thought out deserts. Many including locally sourced and foraged ingredients. Good value for the quality.

The dinner we had was amazing. We were taken to the lounge and had drinks then very swiftly brought some entrees, then after was shown to our table where we loved every course, amazing fresh ingredients that tasted superb. The staff definitely amplified this experience, bringing in our drinks from the lounge, explaining every dish and were very polite as well as chatty and friendly past just serving our food. A great team all round. If you're in this Loch Ness area this is the place to go.

Absolutely superb food created by Sean and his team. We've stayed at The Lovat on a number of occasions and dinner at Station Road is a real experience and most definitely worthy of a ⭐ The menu was perfect with the locally foraged mushroom dish being one of the highlights - the textures were incredible. The apple mousse was really light and the treacle bread is always amazing. Venison was cooked to perfection and the venison tartare a great addition. The wee potato was yum! The cucumber pearls on the trout dish we're full of flavour and the mousse encased in the little leaf was packed with flavour. The wee pre starter was delicious too and set the tone. Good local beer and wine was lovely too. The hotel in general is first class. Great room which was super cosy and spacious with a really comfy bed. Public spaces gorgeous and peaceful. All together a great weekend - thanks to the team for looking after us once again 😃

Having dined at a few Michelin starred restaurants over the years, I would say this ranked up there with the best of them. We did the 3-course meal and were able to taste each dish. While the servings are a little on the small side, the desserts were large and everything was delicious. The service was excellent, specifically Liam in the bar was great. We had snacks in the bar the night before and he made our visits special each time. Dinner was expensive but worth every penny. If you get the chance to go, do it.

Let’s start with the food. This chef is excellent. Innovative but ensuring balance. Great presentation and would be close to Michelin standard. Courses were well developed and some great skill was on show. Then the service which was as far away from fine dining as I have ever experienced. 30 minutes late with food, and then only when prompted. 1/2 the staff were unable to describe what was on the plate - there is no ownership of a table ( we were served by every member of staff including the receptionist). The young South African sommelier was the exception. Sad that excellent found is let down by front of house. Significantly over priced given this.

It's been two years since I wanted to visit Station Road and finally managed to convince my partner and another couple of friends to join me on this experience. I've been to Loch Nees before and the sole reason for this trip was to visit The Lovat and stay at their hotel. My expectations were as high as they could be at a restaurant, and I can't remember a time when I was more excited about visiting one. Before I talk about the restaurant it's worth setting the context for where this delightful food experience takes place. The hotel occupies an old family house which has been renovated to high standards while preserving its history. The Lovat is in the heart of the Highlands, right beside Loch Ness and surrounded by all the natural beauty of Scotland, making it the perfect venue for a delightful stay and an even better dining experience. The restaurant does not offer an a la carte menu and only two tasting menus (short and long), which can be made vegetarian upon request. Obviously, we selected the long version, called Mór, along with their wine flight. The entire experience began with an exquisite glass of English bubbles and a selection of little starters - delicious. Followed by the most amazing bread with a choice of salted & herb infused butter, paired with a beer aged in a whiskey barrel. The main dishes feature a variety of flavours: earthy from the forest, fresh from the lake and the sea, as well as meat.Their grand finale is a delightful venison dish with celeriac pastry and the most amazing jus. For dessert you get a sample of different flavours, all balanced and nothing too sweet which I would recommend topping up with a selection of cheeses and a glass of whiskey. Food was phenomenal, and service was attentive and welcoming. The prices were more than reasonable for the quality of the food and the overall dining experience. Thank you so much for exceeding my expectations!

We called the brasserie and booked just an hour in advance and were pleasantly surprised to get a booking 45 minutes after our arrival in Fort Augustus giving us time to walk our dog and have a couple of drinks at the bar This was our first visit to the brasserie although we had dined in the Station Road restaurant twice previously. Our expectations were high and we were not disappointed. I started with 3 Oysters my wife started with the Wild garlic Veloute. Both were excellent. For main we both ordered Pork belly and Fillet, again a fantastic meal. This restaurant continues to excel and is absolutely the go to fine dining experience in Fort Augustus.

My beloved treated me for my birthday (as he knows this is my favourite restaurant locally and I have been bending his ear about how wonderful it is!). He was a little sceptical when he saw the pictures of the tasting menu because he "loves his food" (in quantity that would sink most). Well, what can I say except...a lovely welcome at reception, quickly seated and drinks ordered, thanks to the wonderfully attentive waiting staff (Josh, is a star and really knowledgeable of the menu). The amuse bouche. trio - duck liver twiglet, Arbroath smokie gougeres and the trout/apple tartlet were an absolute explosion of flavour - and a taster if things to come. The treacle bannock was served with an onion butter and a plain butter topped with Isle of Skye salt (amazing stuff) and very moreish. (at this point hubby's eye's lit up and he became enthusiastic!). I had the Highland Beef for my main, he had the Halibut and mussels and both were exceptional and beautifully presented. The Lemon cheesecake (in a chocolate coating) with blackcurrant sorbet was just delicious and a perfect, not too sweet or heavy, way to end the meal. I didn't take pics (unfortunately) but they do have some of the dishes on their Facebook and instagram pages. Tasting menus of this quality will never be cheaper but this was absolutely worth every penny. 3 AA rosettes is really an under estimate of Chef Kelly and the teams abilities! Thank you for a memorable evening and we will most definitely be back. P.s - I've made the bannock bread from the recipe given - it's amazing :)

It can be something of a challenge when one person is vegetarian and the other is not; however, based on reviews, we decided to try the Station Road Restaurant recently while on a trip to Orkney. Unfortunately, the dining experience was particularly disappointing due to the basic and quite bland vegetarian option. We opted for the three-course tasting menu, and were presented with menus which provided a choice of both starter and main course for the normal menu, but no choice whatsoever for the vegetarian menu. If you are going to charge the same amount for a vegetarian (which is the case), the menu should at least be extended to a choice of starter and main. The vegetarian starter (spelt risotto) was fairly bland, while the main course, a tomato and courgette tart, was dry and uninteresting. It was also accompanied by a separate bowl of gnocchi which seemed a strange addition in the circumstances. Unless you wanted the cheese board to follow, the only option for dessert was a treacle tart. To have a vegetable tart as the only main course followed by a treacle tart as the only dessert was extremely poor planning. Overall, the service was friendly and efficient; however, the food was not of a standard we were led to expect and the overall experience was unsatisfactory.

While staying at The Highland Club on the South shore of Loch Ness, we walked up the hill from the abbey grounds for two superior meals, one on our anniversary. Fresh fish and meats prepared by a notable chef and delivered by universally professional servers. Go!

We had a delicious supper, the menu was varied with a good selection for vegetarians. The food thoughtfully presented and well cooked with a plentiful selection of vegetables. A well thought through wine list where we selected a delicious half bottle of rioja to accompany the meal. The staff provided a attentive, professional and friendly service. The brasserie itself was very clean and tidy and there was an open and airy feeling.

Make a reservation here. This wonderful boutique restaurant is the best in town and has a great menu with extreme attention to detail. There is a massive gin list and excellent cocktails (try be Zombie). We had salmon appetizer and also the tomato salad. For a main avoid the Fearherblade steak and head for the venison or Monkfish; the oysters for an appetizer are also excellent. The desserts are pure art, try the “Phish food”. We also tried the risotto which was a good vegetarian pick.

This was a shocking surprise to us as it was recommended by our B&B; (The White House B&B;) when we told them what we were looking for. This is not your "pub food" that is so "everywhere" along this journey of roads. Not only will the quality and flavors lift your palette, the presentations are pretty as well. while this is whiskey country, they have a Great Wine list!

We stayed at the hotel as part of a tour and our breakfast was included. We had options of cooked breakfast and/or a continental type breakfast. The eggy toast is phenomenal and from those who like salmon the salmon cakes were equally wonderful.

We hadn't expected such a delicious dinner in as slightly an out of the way place as Fort Augustus - but were pleasantly surprised. Starters enjoyed by us were a delicious salad of beetroot and feta, and a Scottish asparagus dish. We both had the pancetta-wrapped monk fish; and then amazing pudds, wrapped in frozen outer cases somehow or other, one supposedly a lemon tart, and the other mango panacotta - staggering creations! My husband said his lemony pudd was the best he'd had ... ever ...! Congratulations to the chef!

On a 10 day driving tour of Northern Scotland we booked theThe Lovat Brasserie on 9th May after a little internet research. We arrived a little early for a pre dinner drink and selected our meals before being shown to our table. A party of 4, we had an avocado with crabmeat starter and various main courses finished with a 2 cheese plates to share for dessert. A Pinot Noir to accompany for 3 of us and a glass of Rose for one diner. The best meal we had in our 10 day tour. Staff were excellent, attentive but not too much. Food outstanding. Ambiance very good. Well done chef/staff.

We visit the Larder each summer on our west coast trips. We opted for two savoury and two sweet pies to takeaway. One smoked haddock and cheese sauce, one chicken and haggis with sauce, one peach and apricot and one apple and blackcurrant. The smoked haddock pie was amazing, the best ever. The pastry was lovely too. I’ll definitely keep my eye out for this tasty pie on future visits. The chicken and haggis pie was lovely too, both pies moist and packed with filling, great sauces in them. I’m not keen on sweet pies but we enjoyed them too. The peach and apricot pie was perfect for me. Price wise the savoury pies are about right for the weight. No shortage of fish and meat in them.

A star on the north coast and a must visit. Gorgeous views over the Kyle from the outside seating. Family run with great service and great chat, the food was fantastic. We had lunch and had to add the sundae to celebrate the sunny day.

We know the Tongue area very well, and like to eat locally, so it was obvious we would decide to eat at the Craggan, and i'm happy we did! The restaurant area is welcoming and clean, staff friendly, and the car park was easy even with a big van. The only problem was choosing from the menu! So many tasty things - i wish we had more time to visit again.. All three of us enjoyed our food, and we shared everything so i know it was all delicious. Thank you for making a rather wet evening so special..

It was such a pleasure to visit this cafe and a welcome contrast to the pre-paid accommodation ran by some racketeer at Ivy Cottage. We took one look at what was on offer and fled to next ferry to Mallaig. I went to school in Inverie in 1948- 49. when the priest had an affair with our teacher. He wnt on to become bishop of the Westrn Isles while she became an un-married mother
