I booked the Clermont for afternoon tea to celebrate my sister’s 60th birthday in June 2024. The location is extremely convenient, just around the corner from Victoria train station, and the hotel foyer and tea room are both beautifully decorated. However, considering the price of the afternoon tea, £45 per head with the service charge, we were extremely disappointed to be served half a chocolate tart each (see photo)! What should have felt like a luxurious experience was made to feel cheap and cost-cutting. I doubt it was due to a shortage in stock as our tea was booked for an early slot at 12.30pm. Also, there was only one other table of guests at the time. And if it were the case that the kitchen were running low, surely it would have been better to substitute the tiny tart with another item rather than cut it in half. Apart from that, the rest of the tea was satisfactory but the scones were very small and when we asked for more, we were told we would have to pay another £40 for a new menu. Again, not the feeling of luxury for a special occasion we had been hoping for. The server was happy to refill the tea though. To sum up, the location and decor were well worth the price but the tea experience did not meet the same high standard.

Afternoon Tea review - nicely served in a pretty space. We were there 3:00 Sunday afternoon, only 1 fresh item of all the tea treats. Very disappointing and expensive. Emma, the server was excellent and made great cappuccinos but the food was unsatisfactory - especially for the venue and the price!

Beautifully decorated room, comfortable chairs, and quiet music. Classy and easy going atmosphere. Mohammed and Gemma were wonderfully helpful in choosing teas to go with a vegetarian sandwiches and snack assortment. A very fancy display specific to their Wicked using dry ice and water to give off "smoke." Very friendly and let me stay as long as I liked while people watching through the large bay windows. Checked in regularly, but otherwise left me to enjoy myself and my tea. Bathroom within the Clermont is down stairs, but very spacious and clean.

We booked our afternoon tea here as we were going to see the "Wicked" show afterwards. What a huge disappointment, four of us went 2 ordered the Wicked themed tea and two the traditional tea, i did ask for no mustard in my sandwich which they happily did. BUT... the bread on the sandwiches was so dry ( as though it had been frozen and then left out to thaw , or made very early and not covered ) i should point out that my "fresh sandwiches" with no mustard was also very dry and hard to eat, we did leave most of them. when Mohamed came to ask if all was ok my daughter did point this out to him but as we had already moved on asked him not to bring any more sandwiches ( not that he offered). the scones were very small and warm but very nice. Then the cakes they looked amazing the chocolate orange one was, but the wicked ones again were very dried out the cheesecake type one had that dried outside texture but the pastry base was damp underneath, the Ki lime ones base ( a biscuit i think) was soggy and felt wet at the bottom also, the Victoria sandwich was so dry it was inedible and by now my cup of coffee was long gone and no waiter around to ask for a drink. A total disappointment and for £160 a total waste of money this was paid for by my daughters for my 60th and i felt so sad that they were so let down.

We did not stay here but did come to the restaurant to celebrate my birthday. My husband ordered the fish and chips, and I ordered the chicken skewers, ribs and vegetable spring rolls that were listed as small plates for my main. We had red wine and a raspberry fruit soda that was very refreshing. The food was very good, and I loved the sauce that was on my chicken and ribs. I would recommend this restaurant.

An Afternoon Tea as belated 60th birthday present for a freind was a bit diasppointing. The entrance, foyer and corridor leading to the Tea Lounge are gorgeous. The same can't be said however about the Tea Lounge itself. It is very faded and sad-looking, not helped by the fact that it was only my friend and I and another two peope in there. There were almost more staff than guests. Furthermore, the large bay of the window we were seated at was not in the cleanest condition. The food was presented on a three-tier serving dish and the various contents described to us. The sandwiches had obviously been kept pre-made in the fridge so were very cold - a pet hate of mine. I have to say that the fillings were also very uninspiring. The scones and jam were nice. We got a mini-pot of jam each, but different flavours, we didn't realise until we had finished them or else we would have shared half of each. Only one small amount of clotted cream between us though. The mini Victoria Sponge was a bit drab also. I suppose that for £40.00 at a hotel like The Clermont is quite a low price, but I was still very disappointed. On a positive note however, when I made the booking I was asked if the afternoon was for a special occasion and I mentioned the "Milestone Birthday". Towards the middle of our tea, three of the staff came over with a mini-cheesecake with a lit candle singing Happy Birthday - that was absolutely lovely!

The afternoon tea is pretty good value at £35 for central London. The tea lounge itself is a very pretty room, with luxury feeling chairs and crockery. We went on a Saturday afternoon and it was surprisingly unbusy which was a pleasant surprise given its proximity to Victoria station, and the acoustics of the room are good with high ceilings but the noise of other tables doesn't carry so there is a very peaceful atmosphere. Service is good with attentive and kind wait staff. However, we did have some issues regarding the food, the tea itself was nice however one pot came with cold water and wasn't checked by the staff so had to be exchanged, and the coffees also came cold so had to be changed. This was due to a broken tap so sympathy to the staff I think this was a one off, but not great that they didn't check it before serving. The sandwiches were mixed, generally good tasting although the cucumber ones the bread was so wet it was baad. The salmon and egg were pretty good, the ham tasted a bit cheap. The scones were good, with a solid amount of cream given, and I enjoyed all the cakes. Overall fair experience for a relaxed afternoon tea but nothing special.

I treated my teenage daughter to afternoon tea before a trip to the theatre to see Hamilton. Price was extortionate for nothing special. I really should have complained but sometimes you just don't want to put the dampners on your day. Staff were lovely, venue exquisite but the actual food was nothing more than I could have rustled up from the contents of my average fridge / cupboard. What did annoy me was when the waiter brought the bill and deliberately didn't put it in front of me but held it up, so that I could not see that a 12.5% service charge had been added. I know I know I should have said something !! Darn You live and learn.... you learn that there are scammers everywhere, especially in "high" places ! Next time I will stick to J D Wetherspoons!

We attended the Wicked Afternoon Tea at 12:30pm today. My mum tried to call multiple times the day before as we had some dietary requirements, however was unable to get through. We were served at 12:40pm. We asked the server if we could have our sandwiches without butter and one set with just ham. They told us this could take a little longer, which we understood. It got to about 1:30pm and we had still not been served our food, my mum politely asked the server how long roughly this would take, as we were due at the theatre at 2:30pm. She said that our food would take longer due to my mum not liking cream and butter, and myself only eating salmon (this was actually due allergies). She said the sandwiches were pre made so they took longer, which we understood. We did not get served with our food until 1:40pm (we only had the table for 90 minutes). We had to quickly eat our food, we we're served all salmon (I do not eat fish) and no egg mayonaise or coronation chicken. We got to the point where we thought we were an inconvenience so did not ask for this to be taken back. We then asked for the bill and gratuity was added automatically, if we were asked we would not had paid this. But we didn't want to make anymore inconvenience as we needed to get to the theatre.

Booked this afternoon tea due to the Wicked theme, as we were seeing the show later that day. Sadly, it wasn’t ‘wicked’ at all but really disappointing. This is at the cheaper end of London’s tea offerings so I’ve tried not to compare to previous experiences at a higher price point, but it’s fair to say the basics of food preparation are missing. It was clear many items had been previously frozen as they had a slightly soggy texture, including the base of the cheesecake. The salmon sandwiches were served with stale bread and so we asked for those to be redone but the staff tried to tell me it was meant to be that way! I have tried many many different types of bread and this was simply nasty, dry and stale. It was replaced and with a completely different bread, which we noticed was what everyone had. The other sandwiches lacked flavour, watery ham and no sign of mustard and very bland egg mayo. Had the Afternoon Tea Mixer cocktail and it was flavourless - very disappointing. At this price, I expected no refills of food but not of tea either was really rather tight! On the plus side, the setting and service were good and the scones were really quite lovely. This is a no from me.. such a shame as some food basics would really make this a decent tea.

This is the second time I have eaten in the hotel's restaurant. My dinner companion and I both chose three courses from the pre-theatre menu. We very much enjoyed the tasty, flavourful food and the deliciously smooth house red - all for £24.50! The hotel is lovely with lots of art nouveau decoration and a relaxed and welcoming ambience. The restaurant is a good size and has a cosy and friendly atmosphere. Our table service was attentive, friendly and professional; we were very well looked after. We have agreed that the next time we meet up we should book the Amba Grosvenor Arms. My friend, who arrived at Victoria Station, was able to access the hotel through the station concourse and did not need to go outside (where it was raining heavily!)

Booked tea for my mother's birthday at the Grosvenor at London victoria. I had been there on another x2 occations so knew what to expect! Unfortunately the room had been decorated it had been painted so dark blue and the room had been received arranged and sofas removed. It resembled more of an office break out area with people having meetings with laptops, the magic had gone. The food was now average the sandwiches were nice not offered any seconds. The scones were heavy and doughy and undercooked. The desserts not really that good. The cherries on the chocolate cake were gone off. The cheesecake had gone soggy the pannacotta in the bottle was too thick to suck through the straw & noises were unavoidable. The little meringue was soft. Tea choices were minimal breakfast or earle grey and fruit teas. Charged £12 service charge when the waiters could not even speak English overall mark 4 out of 10 won't be going again. Shame as the foyer is beautiful. Wish I had complained on the day so that I could have paid less

This was our first visit to the Grosvenor Arms but it won't be our last. We arrived earlier than expected for our table so we took ourselves off to the Hotel bar. Wow, that was really great! Drinks menu brought to us and ordered drinks followed. We just sat there and it was all brought to us. When we went to the restaurant we were attended to most diligently by the staff. They were professional, helpful and efficient. The food offering was different from the norm - I had mushroom and celeriac pie - and tasty and the wine was delicious! My husband had the menu deal which included a glass of house wine, whilst my friend and I chose from the A La Carte. After finishing our meal we took ourselves back to the hotel bar and had another round of drinks which lasted us till closing time. All in all a delightful and enjoyable experience which we will repeat next time we are in the neighbourhood. We might even stay at the hotel rather than our usual hostelry,

Was so very disappointed with afternoon tea at what I thought would be a lovely hotel. Booked for a friends special birthday after visiting Buckingham palace. Was made to feel like a second rate citizen was led past a lovely light room with windows and colourful furnishings to a dark back room made to look like a canteen with so many tables it looked liked they were expecting a coach load of people to arrive, which if they had would have been very cramped. Some of the sandwiches were going hard along with one of the two cakes you were offered. I felt so embarrassed to have booked this. The staff were friendly and helpful. So my recommendation is to spend your money elsewhere There are plenty of lovely places to have afternoon tea don’t waste your money here.

My friend & I visited London as part of my 50th birthday celebrations which were rounded off by what was meant to be a memorable afternoon tea at The Grosvenor Hotel. All of which was purchased as part of a package after visiting Buckingham Palace with Golden Tours. We arrived in the Grosvenor foyer and were quickly ushered down a dark hallway to The Brassiere which was a rather grey, uninspiring & windowless room crammed to the maximum capacity of metal & melamine bistro style table & chairs - all laid ready for service in a minimalist style. We sat down at our table both wondering where the missing grandeur & comfort we were expecting could be found! Perhaps when high tea was served we would be figuratively 'transported' from our dreary surroundings...Our waitress appeared and prior to high tea being served we ordered some reviving cups of coffee & some iced water - the coffee arrived almost as cold as the water! When our nice enough waitress brought a fresh pot of piping hot English Breakfast tea & placed the much anticipated cake stand filled with high tea goodies on our table we were at first glance pleased enough... until the very 1st mouthfuls were taken! Oh dear was a disappointment - the sandwiches were dry & beginning to curl at the edges & contained barely any fillings, the scones were unremarkable in taste and were served with a horrid blackcurrant compote & butter. Butter! Not clotted cream. The remaining 2 cakes were indescribable hard round balls with bright red icing & a mini multi layered cake which actually was quite edible. All I can think is that foreign tourists are duped into thinking this abomination is actual high tea - it most certainly is not and had I not already pre-paid I would have not been happy to settle my bill. We left feeling cheated.

I purchased a voucher on Groupon for afternoon tea for two and a glass of champagne for my friends birthday present. We attended the Grosvenor hotel yesterday at 3.30pm and I was incredibly disappointed from start to finish. I have never written an email or complaint before but feel it necessary on this occasion.

We thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon tea with champagne. The best bits were the fruit scones and clotted cream and the champagne. The sandwiches and cakes were fresh but not particularly special. The service was really good and the table by the window nice. A lovely experience.

Went for afternoon tea at the hotel for a birthday celebration. The waiting staff were very attentive. The afternoon tea was average. The scones were yum, however the sandwiches tasted a little stale and the brownies dry and bitter. If you want a “special” experience then this isn’t it. If you want tea and sandwiches and some cake in a nice setting then give it a go.

Excellent customer service (Ana) polite & friendly and very welcoming. Quality of the sandwiches were below average...stale! To replenish an extra £4. Scones were delicious and by far the best part of the afternoon tea. Overall OK nothing special. Beautiful venue. Very spacious.

Beautiful elegant old hotel. Perfect central location. Out the front door is the entrance to Victoria Station. It is also within walking distance of the Buckingham castle and many major sites.

My mother and I went there for an afternoon tea treat, but we had difficulty getting any attention from the staff even when service was slow, items were missed off our order and were unavailable. Disappointing for what you expect from such a reputable hotel. What we did receive was tasty though

When we arrived we stood waiting to be seated , but no one acknowledged us so eventually I went to the bar and asked - there was no table reserved for us , despite making the booking. Thankfully there was a table free so we were seated and served in good time for our pre theatre dinner. After this bad start, the food was good and served quickly with good value for money.

We booked afternoon tea through Groupon with two other friends and were really looking forward to it. Overall, we were a little disappointed with the quality of some of the food. The teas were ordered were very good, as were the cakes. The scones were reasonably tasty if a little on the small side. The biggest letdown was the sandwiches. The bread was really quite dry and the fillings uninspired and bland. This was a pity as the hotel itself was impressive with a lovely foyer and lounge.

If you looked at this picture you would think this is a great place to eat. Well, this just proves that appearance can be very misleading. It’s by far one of the worst places Ive had smoked salmon and the scrambeld eggs were so dry and artificial.

I needed somewhere near Victoria to meet my sister & her children. Thought the food would be suitable for them & some of the reviews were good. They were very happy with their burgers, but the service was dreadful. I'd booked a table as we were on a bit of a deadline, no one greeted us as we entered the room, after waiting for a few minutes (in a fairly empty restaurant, maybe 4 other customers), I had to approach a waitress. She pointed at a table we could have, no reservation card and we weren't shown to the table. I asked for salt, this didn't arrive so I had to go and get it, I asked another waiter for an extra portion of fries, he didn't understand me. At all. Needless to say, even though I asked a third member of staff, we never got them. At £20 a head (with no alcohol, starters or pudding) and service included, I was deeply unimpressed.

Pleasant place to have lunch, although dining room was a little chilly. Dining room nice enough but no windows so would probably choose the other room with the bar next time. Food good, although a little pricey for a salad and salmon steak. Good place to meet in London as it's right by Victoria Station.

I took my mother to the Grosvenor Hotel for Afternoon Tea as part of a birthday treat. We arrived on time for our booking, and were greeted by a member of staff who asked us if we had any food allergies, but did not take our choices for tea. Ten minutes later another waiter asked us again about food allergies, and this time we were able to ask for tea and glasses of tap water as well.

Old type hotel. Tea was in a lounge area, no table cloths, good selection of finger sandwiches, cakes and scones. Would have liked some cream for the scones and jam rather than preserve. The Earl Grey tea was replenished and served with milk which we did not need! Don't know the cost as it was a birthday gift.

Went here for afternoon tea with my wife and friends. Terrible. Rated 2/10. Stale sandwiches, jams in jars, poor service. Complained about the stale sandwiches (which had too much butter for my liking) and was told he'd tell the chef. No apology. Wont be going back

My friend and I visited for afternoon tea as part of a package which included a tour of Buckingham Palace. My first impression was good as the inside of the hotel is stunning but I soon realised the experience wasn't going to be amazing. A metal pot of water was put on our table which we assumed was to top up a pot of tea that would soon be arriving. It didn't arrive so we asked a waitress who pointed rudely to a pot of tea bags (in packets) which we had to use to make the tea in our teacup. By the end of the meal our table was littered with used teabags and tea bag wrappers. We had to ask for more hot water as it went cold so quickly. The food was pleasant enough although, as with most afternoon teas, there were not enough sandwiches and too many cakes. The savoury selection consisted of three finger sandwiches each (cucumber, ham and salmon) and a small savoury scone. The sweet selection was nice but included a mousse type dessert in a glass for which we had no spoons (and no one to ask) so we had to use our tea spoons which were too big to fit in the bottom of the glass! No one approached us to ask if everything was ok or if we needed anything else and we felt as if we had been forgotten about. Have had much better afternoon tea elsewhere

Decent food and a nice interior, sadly let down by rude and patronising staff, particularly one lady serving last Saturday evening. No interest in being friendly or welcoming at all. If the responses from the owner here are anything to go by they don’t seem to be interested in improving their customer service. Lots of other nice places locally to go, which is exactly what we did the next evening…

The Drayton Court Hotel, was the perfect wedding venue, we had the best time planning our wedding with the team especially Carly! They allowed to truly customise our day to suit us and it was perfect better than we could have ever thought possible. They made everything so easy and fun from food tasting, to booking rooms for us and our guests. On the day we started with room service for breakfast which was delicious, we then had 2 suites to get ready in with our bridesmaids and groomsmen which were stunning to great wedding ready in. The ceremony set up was stunning (they are registered with the council so you can have your whole day there) and they turned the room around for dinner and then again for reception in record time and they really brought our vision for each part of the day to life! Thank you so much for an amazing stay and wedding we hope the renovations go well and we will back for when you open again! We highly recommend the Drayton Court Hotel as a pub, a hotel, and a wedding venue!
