Beautiful venue and lovely staff. The drinks were incredibly expensive, but maybe average for that area of London, I'm not sure. There was a mix up with one our meals, being served a seafood pie instead of the vegan one, containing shellfish. It was rectified, but we weren't asked about allergies and it wasn't very nice for a vegan to open a seafood dish. I would suggest changing the pattern of the mash so it is really obvious to the kitchen and waiting staff which is which, as that was their explanation for the mix up. Otherwise we had a really nice meal and the food was tasty, and lovely atmosphere.

Went for Sunday lunch. We had the roast sirloin beef & as stated in the menu, it was nice & pink. Loads of vegetables & seprate gravy (even had seconds). Price was reasonable given price of beef has gone up. Service was professional. Loved the building & certainly, had more time to appreciate compared with a weekday. Great dining experience!

We went for Sunday lunch. The venue is beautiful but the food cannot be recommended. The “Chicken Supreme” roast was expensive for the tiny portion of roast chicken breast, three small halves of roast potato, a single tiny carrot and a spoonful of leeks. The cauliflower cheese was not served with it and we had to ask for it even though the menu said it was part of the meal. The rest of us had pie - this came with a tablespoon of leeks, five or so peas and a rounded tablespoon of mash potato. We have eaten in Fullers pubs before and never have the portions been so tight. We tried a sample couple of the ales but they were flat and tasted stale so we stuck with soft drinks. We were taking our friends there for their birthdays so we didn’t complain as we did not want to spoil the afternoon - we just apologised for the poor choice of venue. We will not be returning.

The Counting House received the City Heritage Award when it opened. The building itself is rich in history dating back to Roman times, with the building's foundations partially supported by the wall of a 2,000-year-old Roman basilica. The Counting House is part of the Fuller's Pubs & Hotels Group, which has been in business since 1845. The pub is located between two famous landmarks, the Tower of London and just a short walk from St Paul's Cathedral. The pub offers an extensive seasonal menu. As well as classics such as beer-battered haddock or beef burgers, it also offers pan-fried salmon, lamb steak and Owton's 12oz sirloin steak. The menu also includes four traditional British pies. It's worth to mention that Owton's has over 750 years of beef farming tradition and experience, with the earliest known records dating back to 1257. I found out their beef is one of the best when I ordered their sirloin for Sunday roast. I recently had the Fisherman's Pie for lunch at the Counting House for £19.95. It is a traditional British dish of smoked cod, salmon and prawns with a parsley sauce and vegetables on the side.My Fisherman's Pie was a delicious dish full of flavour. The fish was succulent and tender. Sautéed baby cabbage was a delicious side dish. Overall it was a satisfying meal with a balance of flavours that worked well together. For a drink I ordered Cornish Golden Cider. This cider is delicious, slightly sparkling and immensely refreshing with fruity apple notes. The Counting House is an award-winning, beautiful pub that exudes 19th century decadence. It is the perfect place for dinner and drinks in the City of London. The opulent pub also celebrates tradition on its menu – with classic British handmade pies as well as a 12oz sirloin steak on the bone. The Counting House offers 15 hotel rooms and four elegant function rooms for private hire, perfect for weddings, birthdays or business meetings. If you would like to see a video of the fisherman's pie I had there, you can visit the page next to my name where you can find my reviews of other dishes and cocktails.

This a repeat visit for me and I had a similar experience to previous visits. The only staff around were behind the bar and they had no idea where the table I had booked was located, you can assume it's upstairs as on previous occasions this are has been closed. However, this time the table was upstairs and the staff there were very friendly and helpful. Back downstairs at the bar, despite there being no more than 8 customers in the pub, it was hard work to get served. In fact the only way turned out to be a very helpful person wearing a t-shirt saying they were "bar support" getting one of the actual bar staff to come and serve us. The person that served us was not friendly and let us know without saying anything that they were not interested in our custom. When will this type of pub (a chain) learn that the face of the company is the bar staff and train them to make us feel we are important to them etc.

A very nice Sunday Lunch, Recently started frequenting Fullers Pubs and so far have had very good experiences, usually I would go for the Sunday Roast but this branch does not do Roasts. Walked in about 12.30 and it was almost empty which meant I could enjoy the surroundings without lots of noise, after a while it does start to full up a bit. The very helpful waitress recommended the Fish Pie which I fully enjoyed with real peaces of fish, desert was the Eton Mess. The staff were very friendly and the pub (like other Fullers Pubs) is set in a fantastic looking interior. Thank you Will be back soon.

My friends and I have lunched at many London venues over years. This was 'simply the best'. There were 13 of us, The food pre-order system was easy to use. On arrival we were welcomed, given private area and asked if we would like 10minutes to settle before our food would be delivered. The food was exactly as we ordered and well presented. Everyone enjoyed what they had chosen. Additions were allowed like extra deserts -delicious warm scones. We were given a press button to use ANYTIME we wanted our waiter...it worked too. Bill was complex to split but handled with patience and acumen. Everyone would return and some said they would stay over there next time. Delightful period environment with lovely lighting and wood paneling. Seating comfy. Thank you to the staff from start to finish all excellent

This pub looks amazing on the photos, and indeed it’s a very impressive building, However, on calling in on Monday evening around 9 ish we were left feeling a bit underwhelmed, Pints were ok, but the service left a lot to be desired, the lady behind the bar gave off a couldn’t care less attitude, and it really seemed to be a chore to pour us a couple of drinks, We drank up and went somewhere else, won’t be going back in a hurry.

This is a large building - a banking hall that is beautiful. Although it looks attractive it is full of hard services and the accoustics are dreadful. The food is good and, of course, the Fullers beer is excellent - but the evening was ruined because you have to shout to be heard. We (a party of 4) could only speak (loudly) to the person next to us. Communication accross the table was impossible. We had asked for a quiet table!

I have been waiting for over a year to fetch my teenage son, so he could try the Yorkshire pudding and dipping gravy - and they did not disappoint! Delicious and just what the doctor ordered. Unfortunately the triple cooked chips are rubbish, and I think they refer to them as triple cooked because of how many times they’ve been re-fried. Don’t order them if you respect a good chip!

The Hotel entrance was not accessible by our taxi because the street in front changes access on weekends. We only found this out when our driver literally dumped us out on the street a couple of blocks away. We have several pieces of luggage that we had to drag down a busy sidewalk after a very long and tiring trip. The signage to the Hotel was difficult to find and we had to ask for directions. The Hotel room and Pub were very nice, unfortunately, not connected, necessitating leaving the building to go from one to the other. The very small lift was inoperable due to construction going on when we arrived. Fortunately someone associated with the hotel offered to carry our luggage to our room on the 4th floor. We are both in our 70's! Breakfast was plentiful and enjoyed by all.

I pop in quite often, glorious pub, average service but tonight one of the staff had his supper infront of customers, behind the bar, in full view of us - there was nothing subtle about his shoveling food into his face. His manner was horrible, as indelicate as the description is, he was shoveling and stuffing food into his face. Disgusting. What made it worse, the staff seemed to think it ok. Horrible, poor customer experience. Avoid the pub at staff feeding time.

Very nice breakfast in the bar area of the pub - with good choice of breakfast options. Very nice pub with good range of ales and other drinks on offer. However, what really made the stay so special was the staff who were all so friendly and helpful. This begun at hotel reception, where we got a lovely welcome from Maria. The same in the bar, when we went for a drink. Again at breakfast, really friendly staff who really looked after us. Didn’t once come across anyone who was less than friendly / welcoming. We had chosen this hotel for a family wedding at Easter as it was near where the ceremony was taking place. We had booked, several months in advance, 7 rooms for our family and bridesmaids and partners together with a private room for a full evening meal the night before. Three weeks before the booked stay we received an e mail to say that "the room we had booked had been refurbished and could not be laid out with chairs and tables but there was an alternative room where we could have a finger buffet".As this was not what we had booked, we contacted them, which resulted in them sending a fixed price menu with very limited choices which looked very unappealing to our guests. We made repeated attempts to contact the manager who was clearly avoiding any contact with us. Eventually we had no option but to make a visit to check the "alternative room" and to see if the usual bar menu could be served in that room and to talk to the Manager. Upon arrival we were met by the events manager who informed us that the chef had just decided to close the kitchen at 5pm on the evening of our meal as he wanted the evening off so there would be no food served of any kind! We then went to the hotel Reception to check whether they could book taxis for our party on the day of the wedding. The somewhat disinterested Receptionist said that they could but the company they used often did not turn up! At this point we decided that this disgraceful level of customer service could not possibly provide a good experience for our guests, so we felt we had no option but to cancel and seek an alternative venu.

This is a superb, historic pub of great beauty built on the remains of an old (very old, pre 1970s!!!) Roman temple. A must see!

Very enjoyable visit with my friends. Well-attended to by host but special mention to Martin who was patient to explain about the food menu, beers and Gins. Friendly and welcoming without going overboard. All PPE, social-distancing measures and hand-sanitizers present and correct. As a pub,...

In the City there are a number of old bank offices that is turned into something else. This one has had a careful make-over into a pub and it works perfectly. Table on the “balcony” if you want a meal outside the rush, the bar...

This is a pub with rooms which I understood before my stay. The separate entrance to the rooms is next door to the pub itself which is good. There is a lift which takes you to a small reception on the 2nd floor. The young...

I adored the architecture in this pub - beautiful chandelier and dome up in the ceiling. Had wanted to visit for a while and wasn’t disappointed!

Evening meal with drinks on a Saturday night. Beautiful pub, great range of beers to try - but avoid the food, it was a massive disappointment. £80 bill for 4 main courses and 1 starter only (no drinks). The pies were fine but very very...

As we always try to look for something that little bit different we thought we'd stay at a pub. The Counting House looked just the ticket, well placed and beautiful in the pictures. On arrival we entered the pub rather than the hotel entrance, which is just to the left of the pub, but you can get to the hotel through the pub if you just ask someone. The lift is very small, and the hotel reception is on the second floor, but neither was an issue for us. As the hotel only has a few rooms, the reception is small but always maned. We got the keys for the room and headed up to the fourth floor. On entering, the room was wonderful, open fire, not real, loverly large bed and an immaculate bathroom. The linen was fantastic and seeing that we were in the city you could not hear a thing, and not the pub either. brilliant. One issue we had was with the artificial fire, there was a remote control on top which turned on the lights within the fire, but they kept going off after around 10 seconds. Don't think the fire generated any heat, just a lighting effect. We reported it to reception and they said that we shouldn't turn it on, which seemed odd as there was a remote freely available on top it.Breakfast was included and was brilliant, a good selection from continental to full English, nothing to complain about there. We loved it so much we are returning in February. Thank you Counting House for a wonderful stay.

This was the second former bank that we visited after the Crosse Keys and again we were really impressed with the interior. The pub has built the bar around the original safe deposits and a large safe and it really works. The chandeliers are beautiful and there were fresh flowers on the modern tiled wood tables.London Pride was in good condition, £5.10, probably what you'd expect.I believe you can stay here and looking at the reviews/ prices, I definitely would.

For the last two years I have hosted a small networking xmas lunch here and I highly recommend it. Lots of private spaces so you can relax and hear yourself talk, excellent food and cracking value. The main bar occupies one of the nicest looking pubs in the City (which isn't always known for characterful boozers) and the range of beer has improved now Fullers' seems to allow a few more guest ales than they once did. Can get a bit frantic at Xmas or the end of the week with the end of work crowd, not the best choice for a quiet 5pm pint (but again, where in the City is?).

We come to this pub every so often for a drink and every time the staff is very attentive and friendly. This time we had food - mains and dessert. The food was nice. Good value for money. The pub specializes in gin& tonic, serves no cocktails. We will be back for sure.

Siamo andati a visitare Londra e come zona dove trovare l'hotel abbiamo scelto Hammersmith.

A lone dinner, made welcome by the server gentleman. The food was very nice too. Didn’t get the servers name but I came in on 2 October at 2.30 pm. Lovely experience

Perfect locations for London! Super friendly people at the reception and in the bar, they immediately make your stay more enjoyable! The rooms are older, but remain nice and clean.
