Pride of Paddington in City of London, Westminster

Absolutely great place to stay. Rooms were clean and cosy bathrooms were beautiful and shower was piping hot.

We stayed in the Ascot Hyde park hotel but had food and drinks in the pub the staff were absolutely amazing especially DON the food was lovely will definitely be back

Great location, service & staff. A note to fellow Americans: no elevator to go your rooms and the stairs and narrow & steep (some are). I didn’t expect an elevator in a Victorian building & I certainly would stay there again. But in case you have trouble climbing steep stairs, this might not be a good place for you. 5/5 stars for me! Well done, Pride of Paddington!!

Spontan lunch with fish and chips. Great surprise. Very crispy and still very smooth fish. 👌🏼 Worthy for a visit. Delicious!

The pride of Paddington is a great place to stay room clean and spacious plenty of sockets to charge devices staff friendly and you can get a good breakfast in the bar downstairs. The only negative I can say is it has a lot of stairs to climb to get to the rooms no lifts. So if you have mobility issues the place is not for you. Other than that I can't fault it really enjoyed my stay thanks.

Warm and welcoming (it's important in England) , the place serves English food (gixh and chips) in a very correct way. I cannot comment the price but the service was very good. Waiters were friendly with everyone.

Nos gusta este pub para tomar algo cuando estamos en la zona, no es lujoso, pero nos gustan las fotos del tren, carteles antiguos, hay un tablero de televisión en vivo que muestra la información del tren si estás esperando un tren o conociendo a alguien. En la mayor parte del pub se puede oír o sentir cuando un tren va por debajo. La comida se ve bien, pero solo hemos desayunado aquí. Mis huevos escalfados florentinos fueron excelentes, los huevos revueltos de mi pareja en tostadas fritas fueron un poco grasientos. Los desayunos ingleses tradicionales se veían bien. No es el lugar más obvio para desayunar alrededor de Paddington, pero inténtalo, volveríamos a desayunar aquí 😊

Stayed here for a night on business whilst in London. The room is very clean and nice although not big (but then again in London, so it is quite okay). I love the combination with the Pub downstairs (no negative side, no noise no burden, only upside for me) for a drink and in the morning the really excellent breakfast. Service is nice and friendly. The LOCATION is the biggest advantage by far. Directly at Paddington, beautiful connection to Heathrow and easy to get to anyplace in London by Tube. Really great for me! This all at a very nice price for London.

Cool atmosphere, great fish and chips and even better beer. The place is crowded, but maintained in an English atmosphere. I guess that's the point...😁

Fantastic stay. Right outside of paddington. Great comfortable room after long travel day. No lifts fyi for those with larger bags.

An incredibly good deal (£65!) for the quality and service of the stay. Before you book, do be aware that you will be able to hear the train pass below you every few minutes - nothing a pair of earplugs couldn’t fix! I slept like a baby.

I'll absolutely be staying here anytime I have a flight out of London!! The staff was wonderful, and the room was perfect for what I needed. The convenience of being able to pop downstairs for a pint in the evening and breakfast in the morning while also being less than a 3 minute walk to Paddington Station just can't be beat!

Excellent location easily reachable by any type of transport. Nice spacious Deluxe room for 3 people, new, clean and warm. All the staff of the characteristic pub, where you can eat from breakfast to dinner, are very kind. Super recommended

The perfect location. The room is not bad, very clean, but they did not come to make the room for us in three days that I was there. You have some earplugs on the nightstand so you can put them on when you sleep since you can't sleep until midnight when the pub closes, the noise is unbearable.

Really good hostel in a really good location to get connections with the tube and busses to go everywhere. We have to mention the noise of the tube which is consequent in the room. That’s the disadvantage of the good location near Paddington station. Prices are correct as well.

Pride of Paddington is a great to stop over in London! I had two one night stays and they were both very comfortable. If you're looking for a quaint London experience, this is a great stop. The dinner in the pub is wonderful - especially the fish and chips!

Perfect for what we needed and a stones throw away from the tube station. Great hotel if your going to the Royal Albert Hall as it's literally walking distance. Our room was clean and spacious, and equipped with everything you need.

We stayed at The Pride of Paddington for a few days on a trip to England and loved it! We arrived early (8:30am) on the day of our first reservation but they welcomed us and allowed us to store our luggage while we headed out to enjoy the city. We checked into our rooms later in the day and again the staff was friendly, kind and very welcoming. The rooms were great! Clean, comfortable and everything you could need and more! We had several meals and drinks in the pub over the course of our stay and the food was great as well. The location, directly across the street from Paddington train station, is so convenient and the pub/inn is just lovely. I really recommend The Pride of Paddington very highly, the place and staff are top notch.

This is our third time here to eat and drink within the first two days of our vacation. The food is down-to-earth; Above all, the atmosphere invites you to relax and laugh out loud. Even with our poor knowledge of English, the staff got along really well. Like a good old parlor in Germany; family-friendly and suitable for meeting friends.

I was very happy with my stay and experience until I discovered that they charged my card after I left the next day with a second charge after I only stayed one night. It’s thrown off my whole travel budget and caused me a lot of frustration. It’s not exactly the same as the cost of the room and breakfast, but it’s only two dollars difference. I have no idea what it’s for and they haven’t responded to me.

Everything was exactly as in the photos. The location is exactly what anyone looking for on vacation wants, in the center and the metro is really close. The room is very clean and quiet and the staff friendly and helpful.

Oh, marvelous! A dining establishment that’s boldly decided to forgo fish and chips, seafood, and anything remotely popular. How delightfully avant-garde! I suppose next on the menu is a lecture on why toast is too mainstream. Truly, a visionary approach to driving customers away! And the response? Oh, thank you, Pride of Paddington, for the personalized touch of addressing me as Phillip J Fry—a name that definitely wasn’t auto-filled by your feedback system. Such warmth, such care, such... effort? Perhaps next time you could recommend some toast, or is that still too mainstream for your cutting-edge establishment? Bravo!

The hotel itself is fine. I stupidly left a expensive jumper in the room. I rang up a few days later to be told by the manager that it had been found by the cleaner and she would kindly post it me. This never happened and any future communication was ignored. I'm very disappointed as its somewhere I booked every room in the hotel for a works event but will never use them again.

Delicious dishes. Nice service. The place was terribly crowded. Loud, but atmospheric.

The room is very nice and clean, in full English style. The location is excellent, close to every useful metro or bus. The only flaw is that you can slightly hear the music from the pub downstairs but personally it didn't bother us.

The pub looked inviting, the menu selection was fine. The food was fine, the service of Veerpal was average and certainly not attentive or welcoming. Getting her attention was difficult, our food arrived without cutlery or condiments, it was getting cold and we couldn’t get her attention after waving our arms around, so we had ask for this at the bar. About to leave we requested the bill. Waiting waiting then waved to her again, in the end, she did bring it saying she had forgotten. We have been in Paddington for a few days, service has been good, but this pub was an exception.

This pub was the one closest to my hotel so I went here often on my trip. And they service was always great and the food always good. The toilets are on the ground floor so no worrying about climbing after a pint or two. Lively atmosphere but not TOO busy. And though it is aright across from Paddington Station, it doesn't feel too touristy either. A great pub!

Had some drinks and bite to eat, after an hour an Asian server just literally brought the card machine and said “you need to pay” when the other gent who took our order said we can stay have food and drinks, brought our drinks on the table with no problem”. Bear in mind, the other guy did not even show us our bill to check, we even said we want another round of drinks and he just said you need to pay now and go to the bar if you want more drinks. This is ridiculous service, very rude staff and unbelievable. Management should look into this. Just how crazy experience that was. We always come here for drinks most of the time and were treated like this. Unbelievably disgusting behaviour.

I had a single room which was just big enough to not be cramped. The bed was clean, comfortable and the bathroom spotless. It was a faux Victorian style and generally functioned well. The shower was a drench type with the head approx 6'4" from the tray with plenty of room. It warmed up very quickly even though it's December. My only minor criticisms are that the toilet seat was very loose and the little radio didn't work. My message about check in times was not replied to but my concerns were quickly solved on arrival with arrangements for storing bags and checking in/ access after midnight. All the rooms are accessed via staircase. There is a little noise from the trains but I didn't need earplugs. I think it was reasonable value given the excellent location. I had eggs Benedict in the bar in the morning which was also good value and quality. I'd happily stay here again.

Great double room with ensuite/small refrigerator, and the availability was very good. The room is a block from Paddington Station, so the subway trains are felt through the floor during the day, but not disturbing at night.

I had a very positive experience at the Pride of Paddington. The room was super cute, clean, and comfortable - fully equipped with everything I needed. The food in the pub was also delicious - I ate there for dinner and then breakfast. A little noisy, but that's to be expected with being so near the train station. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!

Rigtig next to Paddigton station and good bus conections into central London. Rooms were clean with good beds and even a mini fridge. Booked with breakfast.... lovely being able to choose from the menu. Staff were friendly and helpfull.

Had fish and chips with my son there yesterday. Quick service and a nice old worldly charm. Fish was excellent - not soggy with a crispy batter - perfectly cooked. Chips was also better than the usual but unfortunately the same could not said about the mushy peas.

Fantastic hotel! I wasn’t sure when I was booking the night before but I’ve loved staying here! The room was spotless and all newly refurbished! The staff were helpful. The bed was comfortable and it’s such a convenient venue-only 1 minute walk from station! Breakfast is also really lovely. I will definitely be coming back next time I’m in London!

Stopped for Lunch while in the area. Great pub very clean and well looked after with a great selection of beers. Fantastic burger for lunch. Wonderful

Best pub near Paddington Station

Pleasant pub and staff. BUT ONLY TAKE CARD PAYMENTS. Shame on you. Many of us pub users,especially who have travelled a distance to come to Paddington want to use cash which I feel is quite normal and reasonable. So this establishment needs to adapt for both preferences

The rudest staff in all of London. We were completely ignored. The tables outside are dirty and are not cleared. The highlight is that there is a QR code stuck to the table that says Order&Pay. After scanning you just go to the website to reserve a table or room

Proper english Pub with good beer and the food was good as well. During our first visit (we sat inside and it was possible to order on the table) the service was good - litte bit slow but good. On the second day we sat outside and the service was horrible. You were not able to order on the table, nor using the ordering app. The empty plates and glasses stood on the table for ages. It depends really on the time when you are in.

Recently stayed here on first time trip to UK - room was described as cosy double & it hit the mark. Cosy but comfortable with recent refurbishments making our stay very enjoyable. Great pub, good food, across the road from Paddington Station however very little noise apart from the occasional rumble from the Tube. Would stay here again... not everyones cup of tea but it would recommend it for location!

Lovely pub good food nice staff

Popped in for dinner as we were waiting for the next off peak train home. Very noisy music making people shout to make them selves heard above which was annoying. We asked for small drinks but were brought (and charged for) large which was also annoying. The beer was in short measures, well below a pint but the food was freshly prepared and very nice. The staff were pleasant but poor command of English or just taking advantage of out of town visitors. Food was charged with a 12.5 % service charge which I refused to pay but was charged anyway, the automated payment system doesn’t seem to understand the word no. The food was really really good, the beer was in good condition albeit short measures.

Really tasty breakfast very close to Paddington station with a big plus of having the train times and platforms on a tv and as it is only a 3 min walk you don’t need to leave til the last minute to catch your train. We will definitely visit again.

This is strictly about the pub, didn't stay here, didn't eat here. The location is perfect, just outside of the Paddington station Elizabeth Line entrance, it is on a cozy corner, not as busy as others. Good draft selection, stay to the basics that is what always say. There are outdoor seats where you can people watch and enjoy the good weather when you have it. The pints are about £6.50 - £ 7.50, not bad.

Great location when meeting a friend when I was staying at Heathrow airport. Friendly staff, nice beers, food was OK. I had the burger and it was reasonable (but nothing special).

Typical busy pub next to a busy railway station. Nothing distinguishable about the place; has indoor and outdoor street seating. Serves all the regular drinks. Price slightly higher than other pubs around.

Had mega breakfast here before travelling home to the west country.

Unfortunately a very sad experience. We sat down with my son in a half-empty restaurant and fairly quickly ordered chicken wings, nachos and a son burger. The nachos and wings came quickly, I finished and the burger was nowhere to be found. 5, 10, 15 minutes, nothing, service only in the other part of the restaurant. In the end, despite the fact that he saw his son's cutlery, the barman asked if we would like something else, we remembered with food. Ah, surprise, not ordered...error. Ok, he excused himself and went to the kitchen. We immediately ordered another drink. Nothing else happened until after 10 minutes he came to check what kind of burger we wanted...after a while he came again that it would only take 5 minutes. No drinking anywhere. It took another 15!! minutes, but when he brought the drink he said it would be on his account for the long wait. Ok, forgiven for the moment. The burger arrived in another 10 minutes. Then this bartender disappeared. I'll cut it short, we waited 55 minutes for 1 burger in a half-empty restaurant. We quickly paid so that we could arrange something else, unfortunately I found out from the bill outside that they also charged the drink that was supposed to be on their account.

Entspannter Pub mit einer guten Karte! Eher zufälligerweise auf den Pub gestoßen und wegen Regenschauer einfach mal reingegangen. Cooler alter Pub, lecker Ale Bier und leckere Speisen. Sitzplätze draußen sind Holzbänke. Netter Laden!

Booked two night break for myself and husband. We were attending a concert in Wembley on the second night and I trained in St Mary's and hadn't been back since I left in 2003. We arrived early and couldn't check in as rooms were not ready but we were able to leave our case . When we did check in at 4pm . The room was spotlessly clean , nicely decorated . Bathroom was nice - water was nice a hot with lovely shampoo, conditioner and shower gel . The mattress on the bed was unbelievablely comfortable but sadly the pillows were awful with minimal stuffing and no support. The bar atmosphere was OK staff were dutiful and carried out their tasks but never developed much of a rapport and didn't go out of their way with help . We paid £474/E538 for 2 nights with no breakfast which was expensive for what we got . We ate the first night - average tasting but lovely and hot in fairness Location is its biggest asset

We booked here for 3 nights. The room was over $400CDN a night…. But figured it was London. Our room at top of pub..57 steep windy steps to a small room. Drag your luggage up yourself….no help offered or available. We are 70 year old women. No one came in 3 days for any housekeeping….towels etc. Stayed for a Sunday Roadt Beef dinner. They forgot the order…. We had to ask for it. It was tough to eat….and they then added a tip!!!

Good vibrant atmosphere. Nice selection of drink's. Only thing that let this place down was the appalling smell and cleanliness of the toilets both male and female.

The food and coffee were nice but the staff were downright rude and abrupt and unfriendly . I had to go off looking for the condiments my self as well . Will never be going back here ! You really need to up your game pride of Paddington with the staff as they couldn’t care about the customers .

Rip off service charge of 12.5% on food. If you are going to impose a service charge customers expect a proper dining area with tablecloths and waitress service. If we have to order at the bar and sit at a bare table we expect to pay the bare price.

Decor and atmosphere very fitting for the area. Staff were bubbly and it was busy but service was in a timely manner.

I writing a review with a 1-star rating because I experienced what I believe to be racial discrimination. I walked in today for the first time and went to the bar. I asked the bartender if I should order at the bar. She kindly told me if I am ordering food then sit at any table, the menus are on the table, and her colleague will come take my order. I took a table, took my time to look at the menu, then set it down. A woman, whom I thought at first to be the waitress was interacting with a patron who sat two table to my left, about 5 feet away. But she joked and conversed with the patron and I thought maybe that's not the waitress. A young man glanced at my table and stood in front of it, looking toward the TV. I thought he was another patron. Until, he signaled to the woman who was interacting with the patron to my left and alerted her to a couple who sat down after me at a table directly in front of me, about 10 feet away. The woman said, "Oh, sorry," and went to them with her note pad. Turns out she was the waitress. As she went over there, I tried to catch her attention - I smiled and waved. We made eye contact. She proceeded to take their order. I waited. When she finished with them, I tried to catch her attention again, but she went the other away to a party sitting at a booth and took their order. Then she walked past my table to go to the computer station which was next to the patron on my left. As she walked by, I said, "May I order too?" As she walked by, she looked at me again. She kept walking and I said it again a second time, a little louder, thinking that she probably didn't hear me, as it is a pub. The table directly in front of me heard me because the lady sitting there looked at me and gave me a sympathetic smile. While the waitress entered the two orders into the computer, I caught the attention of the young man, who turned out to be a staff who set out the place settings and condiments for customers. He took direction from the waitress. But each time he looked at me, he then looked away. I waited for the waitress to finish entering the orders, looking at her to catch her attention, but she turned around and disappeared. I waited a couple more minutes and I made eye contact again with the young man who had alerted the waitress to the other customers that sat down after me. But he look away and walked away. I concluded that I was not going to be served or acknowledged. I got up and as I walked out, I stopped at the bar to tell the bartender who initially directed me to take a seat that no one took my order. She looked surprised and asked, "No one took your order?" I said no and I've been sitting there the whole time. She looked genuinely disappointed and sorry for me and said, "I'm sorry." I walked out. The only conclusion I have for this experience is I was the only Asian in the room and everyone else was white. The three parties that the waitress tended to around me were white. I was skipped and others were served. They noticed me sitting there. I wasn't rude to them because I didn't even get to interact with them before I was getting ignored. They were a few feet away from me, stood in front of me, walked by me, and made eye contact with me. But I was not served. And the only difference I could observe between me and the patrons the waitress and the staff helper did serve was I am Asian and the other 3 parties were white. I did not see another Asian in the pub. I was the only one. I don't normally post negative reviews even if I have a bad experience at a restaurant. But racial discrimination and racism at an establishment has to be called out. Nobody should be treated that way, to be treated as less than others based on ethnicity. I think that is shameful. I am hopeful that things can change for the better.

Fish & Chips were soooo good. The atmosphere is typical british, I liked it very much. Next to the Paddington Station. The Service was brilliant.

A real English feel pub, food to order. But coming from the north the prices are way over the top. £7.10 for a pint I don't care if it's the capital or not is completely out of order. London needs to lower its price for those who are not on London wages.
