The Longhouse Cafe in Brighton and Hove

Visited in September with my couple of girl friend, wanted to give a go for their vegan dishes.. It was absolutely yummy and they have a very friendly staff and atmosphere!

El Longhouse Cafe es mi café favorito en Brighton. El brunch es colorido y delicioso. El ambiente es muy relajado y relajado. El dueño siempre es muy acogedor y feliz. Tiene relaciones increíbles con sus clientes y no puede hacer más por ellos. Estoy deseando que llegue mi próxima visita.

Visité desde Nueva York y quedé muy impresionado con la comida y el ambiente relajado. La señora del mostrador fue amable, me preguntó sobre mi viaje y me hizo sentir muy bienvenido. Es un lugar pequeño y agradable. ¡Tuve un brindis con su “Nutella” casera y semillas de calabaza y estaba delicioso! ¿Definitivamente un lugar que recomendaré aunque tú no lo estés? vegano.

buena comida, pero me ofendió mucho que le dijeran a un cliente negro que pagara primero antes de que le llevaran la comida, y a otros 3 grupos de personas blancas se les dijo que podían pagar después. Es un insulto, no volvería a visitarlo. Por supuesto, todo esto fue hecho con una sonrisa por el cajero racista. Probablemente pidió el dinero por adelantado, ya que probablemente pensó que yo no lo haría o no podría pagar. La ironía es que probablemente gano más dinero que ella.

Le doy a esto una calificación baja debido al hecho de que yo era el único que tenía que pagar antes de recibir mi comida, pero sin embargo, el cajero decide susurrar a los blancos después de mí que pagan después. No recomendaría a ninguna otra persona negra que vaya aquí, ya que nos tratan como ladrones de comida y comida.

We had the full breakfast and matcha lattes and were so impressed - our favourite breakfast in Brighton in a long time. Amazing service from the lovely blond woman who was working as well. Thank you!!

I have been here semi frequently over the last couple of years, when I can afford to, and I must say that the consistency of the quality of food is always well sustained. I love the avo toast, vegan cooked breakfast, raw sweets and the turmeric latte !! A really nice vibe inside with many beautiful plants and interesting artworks and best of all-they allow dogs 😍 really nice staff too hah

I stopped off here for a quick lunch with my brother after having had such a positive experience a few months before. I am happy to say that it was just as delightful and the Full breakfast was a real delight. The cafe has a really nice vibe and the waitress was very friendly and nice too. The drinks menu is good and quality of food high. I would recommend this cafe to anyone wanting to see just how good vegan food can be.

I dined here for brunch with some friends and found it to be excellent. The staff were really friendly and menu was exciting and clearly fresh. It's amazing to see the chef able to make the dishes in the small kitchen and when our meals arrived they were very high quality and delicious. I opted for the Full Breakfast and found the tofu delicious! The experience was also aided by the ridiculously cute dog sat down observing customers, I salute you.

The food is great here, friendly staff, lovely space. Couldn't ask for more! We had the French toast and the full breakfast, both were fantastic. Recommended.

I plugged in the lap top and worked happily, well fed and coffee'd here for hours. Highly recommended 👌

The Longhouse has a lovely vibe to it. I'm not a vegan, but really like the food here. Its healthy and tasty! The staff are welcoming and there's even a resident dog, who loves a cuddle! I highly recommend for breakfast or lunch!

I’m by no means a Vegan and very much enjoy meat as part of my diet. That said, ‘The Longhouse’ has really given me food for thought! I was sceptical as to whether solely plant based foods would be able to satisfy my pallet and more importantly my belly. But I have to say the vegan tacos were an absolute delight!! I did not miss the meat at all!! Instead my mouth was greeted with a kaleidoscope of flavours that were developed and seemed to get tastier with every mouthful!! The venue itself is small but intimate, the staff were friendly and we were made to feel very welcome. And for any dogs lovers out there, the head chef is a cute lil dog called Ruby. She is a bit yappy, but aims to get you fed as soon as possible. Great place for brunch, whatever you eat! I’m not saying I’m going to fully convert to plant based..... but Vegan food is something I am definitely going to have more of, especially if it tastes as good as the food in The Longhouse!!

So my boyfriend and I went here for brunch on Sunday and it was so delicious! He had a full breakfast and I had the scrambled tofu on sourdough toast with a side baked beans. First the scrambled tofu is the I have ever had! Second I’m in love with the baked beans, not to sweet but so satisfying. Really cute inside and delicious matcha latte.

I’ve been here a few times and the food is always great. Breakfast burrito is awesome. Nice and chilled atmosphere and the staff are amazing. Ruby is the best 🐶

Flavourful vegan food! Clearly homemade, good choices and amazing coffee. Also had a lovely choc loaf.

We wanted to get breakfast here before catching our train home. We’ve been a few times and the staff and food have always been good. Unfortunately this visit left us feeling a bit bitter as we arrived at the opening time and were turned away as a member of staff hadn’t turned up. We came back 20 minutes later and the guy still hadn’t arrived but the lady who originally turned us away was now cooking for another table and didn’t greet us or take an order or anything. We waiting for a good 10 mins before we decided to go elsewhere which is when the lady gave us a sarcastic “goodbye then”. Won’t be back

i had a fantastic breakfast at a great price. The scrambled tofu (egg) was the best I have had in a while. The service was great...the couple running this place had the time to chat and even ask about us. Come on...that is rare, and i don't mean the generic chit-chat...a genuine interest.

I've been me sing to try The Longhouse Cafe since they opened. My friend and I sat outside on a nice sunny day and the Toastie was delicious. I'll deffo be back for another one and try one of their desserts 🌱

3 of us went to The Longhouse Cafe for breakfast last Saturday. It was comfortably busy and we sat on the long table in front of the window. We had 3 different things, pancake, burrito and full breakfast. All 3 dishes were incredible (we all tried each other's). The Turmeric Latte was something else - a taste sensation! Not expensive for the top quality foor ad service. Would not hesitate to return next time I'm in the area.

Excellent café that hits the sweet spot between being healthy and fresh but also indulgent and fun - good coffee too. highly recommend for vegans and non-vegans alike

The food here is just delicious. All vegan and all brilliant. This is the place that convinced me that scrambled tofu could be yummy. Great drinks and cakes too.

Admittedly we waited around 30 minutes for our lunch, but it was worth it. Divine all day vegan breakfast. However, the star of the show was the lemon, coconut & turmeric raw slice.... To die for. We'll certainly be returning.

For some reason, this amazing little cafe / coffee shop doesn’t shout about the fact that it’s totally vegan - but it’s a fantastic example of how the best vegan food can just be great food full stop.

Took my parents here for lunch after visiting before and loving my buckwheat pancakes! Had the breakfast burrito and everyone was happy! Wasn't too busy either.

Went for lunch after being nagged by friends to try it out. A couple of sold out menu items due to a busy day actually helped us narrow down our choices as everything looked amazing. I had the tofu scramble on sourdough which was delicious and a Honduran long black which was perfect. Will recommend to all of my friends.

This is truly vegan heaven! The garlicky mushrooms were delicious and also the raw cakes are incredibly good. Plus: the coffee is awesome.

I love coming here. The food is great. Tasty and good value. Staff are friendly, decor light and quirky. And very dog friendly too. Lovely little vegan cafe 😊

I'm having trouble concluding what overall rating to give this place. It was a good experience, a mix of positives and negatives and drawn backwards by one significant negative.

Went to the longhouse with high hopes having read great reviews. Decor is on fleek. White/black exterior with nice wood and naturalisti colours inside. The menu is small but all items seem great Both on the breakfast and lunch menu. I write that because upon my visit most items were already sold out for the day. Seems they have a bit more guests than they can handle at certain times - that’s the price to pay for being popular. There was just one Guy in the Kitchen executing all dishes.... and, the rest was made and prepared at the counter by one more person. I waited for about 30 min to get my buckwheat pancakes. However, just before getting them it turned out the better containes peanut butter. There was no info on the chalk board menu about any peanuts with that dish which I found strange. Especially since it’s in the batter and not a topping...

I love this cafe and have been for breakfast and also for an evening wine tasting. I have taken meat eaters and they have enjoyed the vegan food too ;-) Great tasting food and a sense that they really care. They are dog friendly too.

I visited the Longhouse Cafe because I heard a lot of good things about it. In the end I was quite disappointed. We had to wait extremely long for our food and the prices are too high for the amount of food you get. There are definitely better vegan cafes in Brighton.

Tempting as it was to keep this little gem to myself, it seems unfair to deprive people of trying out this great cafe! We recently visited and the food was outstanding, I can’t wait to go back. The service is superb too, with welcoming knowledgable staff always happy to talk to us. It’s a real find.

Met a friend for lunch and although neither of us are vegan we had THE BEST lunch ever. A real eye opener. Food was AMAZING. Delicious and beautiful, a real work of art put together with love. The cafe itself is small with seats inside and out and is beautifully put together, great attention to detail. Service was excellent. I'll be back!

What a lovely vegan bolthole. An amazing selection of different options, plenty of food for thought and the open kitchen is in eyesight. As vegetarians we were spoilt for choice and were happy to have been made to think slightly differently about what we eat. Coffees were great, staff were lovely and prices very reasonable. Thoroughly recommended to anyone looking for beautiful food.

The best avocado with chilli on sourdough I have ever had and I have eaten this all over world and made it myself. So great I went for breakfast the following day and had full breakfast with tofu, coriander, sourdough and avocado (just love avocado). Good strong black coffee. Will be back in Brighton in a couple of months and unsurprisingly I know where I will be eating breakfast.

I had one of the best breakfasts and I had scrambled tofu and I must say I do not like tofu and corriander but I ate all of it. It was mouthwatering. That’s what I call excellent food.

My friend and I came here to study, and we thought this little cafe was so gorgeous inside! There were hanging plants from the ceiling, pictures on the walls and the mugs and plates they served food and drink in was so cute! However it was definitely overpriced. The £2.90 flat white came in the tiniest mug, even though it was pretty cute and the coffee was lovely, it wasn't worth the price. We didn't eat here but the food looked incredible, and wasn't too bad for price. I will definitely come back here again but might rethink my drink choice as I know I can get triple the volume of drink elsewhere for the same price.

We started with a fabulous smoothie for myself and my husband, and a hot chocolate for the kids. Followed by tasty and interesting breakfasts all round. It must have been good as it fuelled me round Brighton marathon the next day!

We found this on the happy cow app and very happy we did - the food was amazing and not badly priced. The seating is limited and it was the best service I've ever received but it was good enough and we will be going back!

I've been a customer of the Longhouse since it opened, and am a huge fan. The food is excellent, I'm not a vegan but could happily live on Longhouse nosh! The coffees are lovely as well, it's one of my favourite places to go in Brighton for a quick cuppa. But what really sets the Longhouse apart is the atmosphere; a combination of great design (love the plants!) and warm and welcoming staff. Highly recommended.

Even in Brighton where you're spoilt for choice as a vegan, this place tops the rest! The menu is beautifully crafted, and the staff are really friendly and helpful when you can't decide what to go for! The owner, Chris, has done an amazing job of creating a clean, chilled-out, welcoming community space where you can go and hang out with friends, alone, or as someone else has mentioned - complete strangers who you just happen to strike up a conversation with! The local artwork adorning the walls, and plants hanging from the ceiling make for a cosy, intimate space. I honestly can't say a bad word against The Longhouse! Would definitely recommend trying their gorgeous vegan smoothies and the delicious buckwheat pancakes!!

The Longhouse is a great vegan cafe with warm and friendly staff - a good place to go if you are on your own and you fancy a chat as you will probably soon find yourself talking to staff and customers! i have met some lovely, interesting and strange people here - the essence of Brighton! It is very small but I have always been able to find a seat.

I had a really delicious and different breakfast here. I had just been to the gym and was starving, it left me full for hours. It is one of the few places where I can eat out and feel happy that it is fresh and healthy food (as well as vegan). The staff are lovely as well and I think it is really good value for money. I am looking forward to my next visit!

Really nice place to go on your own,peaceful, lovely atmosphere. I had the pancakes, so good! with maple syrup and fruit, something you don't often see in a vegan cafe. I read about this place somewhere online, although I'm from Brighton I had never heard of it. I recommended it to a friend and they had the scrambled tofu. You deserve to do well guys

This place is amazing. For a start its 100% vegan, and their food is incredible, being both healthy and absolutely delicious.

Really lovely service from (I assume) the owner! Very welcoming every time I visit! I would recommend getting a hot chcolate or the flat white with oat milk. Would recommend even more the smashed avocado on toast! Very fresh very yummy and so much tastier and flavoursome than all other avo on toast I've ever had! The fresh bread is yum too- I'm a sucker for a sourdough!

This is a perfect spot for local vegans or visitors. But don't avoid this place if you're not a vegan, everyone is welcome. This has great food, great coffee and great staff. What I love most is the cute pottery/ceramics that your food and drinks are served in - a lovely touch!

Loved the plants. Wish could kidnap some home. Sadly didn't feel that excited about the food. Don't get me wrong, there was nothing wrong with it but the portions weren't generous nor out of this world taste-wise to justify the price. My friend had a toasted slice of bread with avocado and tofu I think and it was almost £8. Ouch. With my coffee and his tea plus a tiny bit of cake it made his poor card almost cringe - 15ish pounds was far too much. We would like to support independent and especially the plant based businesses in Brighton but... There must be a way of being ethical and community orientated and reasonably priced . There are too many places in Brighton already that are obsessed with capitalising on the new rise of the vegan pound. Cheap plant based establishments needed urgently.

I went for breakfast here and the food was incredible. I had a full breakfast and the quality of the food used was excellent. I had trouble choosing as all the dishes sounded delicious but look forward to going back and trying them all out!! Definitely recommend this place to all
