Gorgeous location in the heart of the Devonshire countryside. Molland is a tiny village and is certainly off the beaten track, but the drive to it is really picturesque. We arrived and got drinks, the lady who served us was very friendly and chatted with us, this made us feel welcome and comfortable. The pub itself is an old building and has tons of character and ambiance. The rooms smelt a little bit musty and damp but this can be understood as the place is so old. Our dog was made welcome too !! The food however was disappointing, it was average at best, I had a rump steak, it was a really generous portion with chips and peas, mushrooms and a side salad. It was not very good sadly, cooked as I had asked but tough and chewy also not very flavourful. I am guessing that it was possibly frozen at some point as were the chips. My partner had the burger. It was also disappointing. Not much flavour at all and certainly not freshly made. The bun was dry, and again, I suspect had been frozen at some point. Fantastic location and lovely people at the London Inn, but, food nothing at all special.

If you’re looking for a traditional Sunday lunch then look no further. A wonderful selection of fresh vegetables beautifully cooked, lovely tender pink roast beef, enormous Yorkshire pudding and roast potatoes. It’s rare to go out and have a roast dinner as good as one you would make at home, but this one does just that. We all had a fabulous meal. The pub is also so cosy, the staff delightful, we will be going back very soon! Highly recommended

This pub is off the main roads but well worth the trip. Well kept beer was a great start to a great meal. Good starters and then great slow cooked pork belly and exmoor lamb shank. The rest of the menu looked good too. The interior has a great atmosphere with low beams, wooden settles and a variety of seating alcoves.

Stopped in here after a long day of touristy stuff, and what a lovely quintessential British pub. Landlady was lovely and so attentive, and the food was lovely. We both ordered mussels, portions were absolutely massive, piping hot and full of flavour. We had a lovely meal and were really pleased. Only thing we thought was that it was a bit quiet and maybe needed a bit of low level music or background noise as it felt a bit intense in a very quiet room with 2 or 3 other couples, but this didn't matter too much. Thank you so much! Would definitely visit again if we are in the area.

This is a beautiful quirky pub, set in the countryside, with a lovely garden to have pre-dinner drinks. We visited for a drink on our first night of a week's stay nearby and were so struck by the pub and the hospitality that we booked a meal for a couple of nights later. We were a diverse group covering carnivore, pescatarian and vegan but were all catered for superbly. We did browse the menu on our drinks visit and asked if they could accommodate a vegan, as there was nothing on the menu, and the chef very kindly had 2 options prepared when we arrived for the meal, which was above and beyond on a quiet weekday night. All the dishes were very well prepared, and we enjoyed the choice of local beers and gins. Very friendly and attentive service. We've rediscovered our love of Exmoor and pubs that are this well run just add so much to its charm, we look forward to returning.

We visited here on Friday evening and opted to eat outside as it was such a nice day. There was plenty of choice on the menu and the food was excellent (and plentiful!). We were very well looked after by the landlady, who also managed to produce a few treats for our dog too. This place is a little off the beaten track (which is partly why we chose it in the first place) which means it's so quiet in the beer garden that all you can hear is the tweeting of the birds nearby - perfect if you want some peace and quiet. The inside of the pub looked full of character too and there looked to be a restaurant too if you don't fancy eating outside. It's definitely worth the effort to get there and I would certainly recommend this place if you are after decent food in a nice country setting. It looks as if there are a handful of public footpaths nearby and so although we live an hours drive away, we are already making plans to return here to combine a walk with food afterwards.

We walked a good few miles to this pub, expecting lunch. We had checked opening times on the internet. Sadly, despite a cheerful blackboard on the door, which was nicely done, clear and up to date, explaining opening hours (lunch 12.00-2.30) and that the pub would be closed on Monday and Tuesday lunchtimes until Easter (we arrived on a Thursday), the door was locked and no-one was there to let us in. A great disappointment. The pub has a great spot and looked clean and welcoming - except that it was inexplicably not open! There may be an explanation - some emergency perhaps? However, while we were there, another couple arrived and said they had the same problem a couple of weeks ago.You can't afford to have a pub that needs you to make a special trip - it's fairly remote, and it's not as if there's another option a few hundred yards down the road! - and be volatile in your opening hours. Both the internet and the notice on the door appeared up to date and clearly said the pub was open and serving food.Luckily we didn't have to walk the 5 miles back on an empty stomach, as some other kind (but equally disappointed) guests gave us a lift to our car. That made 8 customers turned away just while we were there. Shame.

Met up with a group of family and friends for a meal on a beautiful summer evening. The ride over the moor to get there was great and the inn is really picturesque. Lovely g&t; in the outside seating space ( marred only by full ashtrays left by previous guests) Then the meal, huge portions of freshly cooked food, a great menu to choose from and they managed to serve 13 of us all with in a few minutes of each other. My fish was superb and the desert shared with my partner was pure gluttony, but really yummy. The only real drawback is the somewhat treacherous, uneven pathway into the inn.

The London Inn had been recommended to us by locals at another pub we had eaten out while on holiday and we were not disappointed. We knew we were in for a treat when we turned up as the chef was writing the evening’s menu on his chalkboard. We had phoned ahead to book an area for 10 (4 kids) and they had given us our own area. The pub had Exmoor Ale and Otter on draught and a selection of local gins when we dined there which kept the adults happy. Starters of prawn salad, tomato soup and garlic mushrooms in cream, cheese and wine sauce were all cooked to perfection and set us up for our incredible mains! 1/2 a duck in port and orange sauce, sea bass and Ham, egg and chips were all massive portions and tasted amazing. Lovely character and ambience. Shame we discovered this place on our last night.

Not our first visit, and doubtless not our last. It was a Friday lunch time and very quiet; in fact we were the only ones there. Molland is a little out of the way but for the pub at least, it's worth the effort of navigating the narrow twisting roads. The London Inn has a pleasant environment, both inside and out, with nicely presented dishes. A couple of real ales were available plus the usual array of lagers et cetera. The menu was not extensive, as it should be, but, unless I missed it, could have done with some vegetarian main dishes. Service was good, and whilst not exactly wallet friendly, it wasn't way out in this day and age in the UK.

The mussels and the rack of ribs (massive!) were to die for, the mixed seafood platter which I had as a starter was also very good. Catherine enjoyed a very nice beetroot and feta salad. So few pubs still offer draft beer drawn from the barrel, that if ever I am in the area I always call at the family run, London Inn in Molland, where the Exmoor draft bitter is always served in absolutely perfect condition. This gorgeous Bank Holiday weekend was no exception. It is such a lovely place to visit anyway, that one does not need much of an excuse to make a detour. The London Inn is one of those pubs which has evolved over several centuries. It is sited on a slight grassy hill in the middle of an ancient Devon village, and has a charming combination of smaller and larger rooms, as well as a decent dining room where I've had delicious meals on several occasions, and plenty of outdoor seating offering a lovely view over the village.

Bit disappointed to be honest. I was seduced into trying the London Inn due to the 5 star reviews and great looking menu on the website. Whilst the staff were friendly and attentive the menu was very poor with nothing but meat and one 'fish & chips' dish for mains, not even a chicken dish (veggies or healthy eaters obviously never venture onto Exmoor!). The fish and chips all four of us ordered was cooked to a reasonable standard (albeit in animal fat) but the portions weren't in line with the prices charged. The pub itself is very quaint and the package could be excellent but only if you like your food traditional and meat, meat, and more meat!

Booked a wedding at this lovely old pub with good food and owner confirmed in e-mail we had exclusive use. 5 weeks to go Stuart informed us he had double-booked - a stag night with an untold number of bikes on the same night. When we challenged this he swore at us and told us to get out. Nice - had to desperately hunt for an alternative venue. Very rude man.

This is how country pubs should be and has now become in my top 3 places to go to eat in the Exmoor area. The food was great, beautifully presented and suitable for a range of tastes and budgets. My husband's starter would not have looked out of place in the Masterchef final and my desert was also a work of art. The staff were welcoming and friendly and I am already looking forward to returning there soon.

Having made arrangements to meet family for Sunday lunch, the London Inn at Molland was where we settled upon. Unfortunately others couldn't make it, so we (2 adults, 2 children) made our way on the windy road from North Molton to Molland, past horses and errant sheep, to the London Inn.The weather was sunny, which obviously helps, and the staff were incredibly welcoming. It was early on a Sunday and as such the pub was quiet. After ordering drinks and a short wait the meal arrived, and oh! What a meal it was! The meat (5 options available) was cooked to perfection, and the vegetables that accompanied it were well presented, full of flavour and came as large portions.Although the price is relatively steep for a Sunday roast (£14), it was worth every penny and I will be recommending this pub now to all and sundry. It's fairly remote, but worth the extra mileage/detour.When leaving, it was filling with customers quickly - again a good sign of the quality on offer!

Great food good atmosphere, welcoming atmosphere. It ain't fancy, but it's a good place for well kept beer and the Sunday Roast is often bloody amazing.

A wonderful old pub that has a traditional country atmosphere. The landlord is very friendly and the service is excellent. The locals use the pub and they add to the friendliness of the place. The pub has not been spoiled and an old world / bygone era can be felt as soon as you walk through the door. A wonderful location.

We are mature age Australians on our first trip to Britain & were told not to expect much in terms of food. We ended up in "The London Inn" on advice from our B&B. Wow!! We were totally blown away by the quality of the food, sumptuous scallops, fantastic pheasant, steak to die for and a chicken pie that went down a treat. When I asked the friendly barmaid/waitress how they managed to hang on to a chef with such talent in such a small town she acknowledged that he was her husband and that they owned the place so he had no choice but to stay! Do yourself a favour, if you love good food, pay this place a visit.

We are lucky enough to live an easy drive from the London inn, and always enjoy a visit here especially after a walk on the moor... We visited yesterday for supper for a birthday meal and had a lovely evening. The food was lovely, with a good choice from mussels, scallops, venison, pheasant, steak, brisket beef, veggie stack, between 8 of us and we all cleared our plates. Lovely puds also, with a nice big jug of custard for the blokes! The beer connoisseurs were happy with the beer, and I thought the availability of the veggie/vegan wine was really helpful for our veggie friend.Well done to the staff, as it was the landladies night off, but they did you proud! Well worth a visit.Just one small point, we would have loved to see the fire going, it just needed a bit more heat for a couple of us.

I was here last year 2014 summer time & the same this year.. The second time around wasn't as good as the first. The menu hasn't changed much if any?. & pub staff didn't seem so interested this time. So I am sorry to say I don't think I will be going back next summer 2016.

Staying at a campsite nearby and was recommended for good food . Lovely old pub and we found the staff to be friendly !Wine was good beer was ok. I had home made chicken ham and leek pie which came with mash but I swapped to home made chips which were more like wedges and very tasty! I expected one pie but it came with 2 both were cooked perfectly and very tasty, as were the vegetables it came with !My wife had home made pancakes with chicken, ham and cheese which were also very good and very generous portions. The pancakes were swimming in cheese sauce which was slightly different than expected but had lots of filling. We both felt really bloated and only had the one course! The pub had a nice feel about it and we certainly enjoyed the food , and was average price .The only thing we felt was it was slight too salty for our taste but we don't add much salt to out food at home . Otherwise a very nice meal.

Very unhelpful staff, knowing we had a table booked left to stand around until we asked to be show our table, very little interest showed by them. larger was off tasted very cheesy. Food was very disappointing, having 4 main meals inedible, 4 tough dishes with 2 even being burnt and covered up with horrendous bitter sauce! Would not recommend this place to anyone!

Very good food. I had the homemade steak & kidney pie on a bed of mash. My daughter had a good portion of fish & chips & my husband enjoyed a generous bowl of excellent moulles. We just needed some sincere warmth & welcome to go with it all.

Having visited last year, we knew this was a safe bet for a good meal. Once again, we were not let down. The food was tremendous and the service excellent. Great beer and wine as well. Our highlight was meeting Ted, the alsatian puppy! We will back, to check on Ted's progress of course and maybe have a pie or steak, or fish or ice cream! A hidden gem.

Great location, great beer and nice beer garden. Sadly we were let down, as were two other groups of customers, over not being able to have lunch or indeed any food at all as the kitchen closed as early as 2.00, we arrived at 2.10. We heard one group asking for just "a pie", surely remote pubs such as these should be able to provide at least something for keen visitors! This aspect lets this pub down so drink there but don't get too excited about the food!

Whilst staying in Molland in the Manor House, my family and friends totalling sixteen booked for Sunday lunch. Our party ranged from 7 to 75 years of age.We booked for 1.30pm and everything was set up for our group and after deliberation we all selected from the four choices of beef, lamb, pork and lobster. No one had lobster. The food arrived promptly with the meat followed by separate dishes of carrots, leeks, cauliflower cheese and roast potatoes. Some of the children wanted a Yorkshire pudding with their pork or lamb and the staff happily obliged. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful and the food was excellent and plentiful. It was a very busy restaurant but the staff worked very well as a team and coped well. The food for the Sunday was only the four choices stated above and all were priced at £12.95. Lunch was between 12-3 but there was no dinner for Sunday evening.Every other day, dinner was served in the evening with a wide choice of menu.We all agreed that we had a lovely meal at a lovely olde Worldly Restaurant. I would certainly recommend it.

Came across this little pub when out for a drive whilst staying locally. It is grouped together in a little hamlet. Very twee! Fairy lights light up the whole interior of the pub giving it a magical feel. We were pleased to find home made soup on the menu. We had eaten at lunch time so did not want a large meal. and what a good choice! The soup was tomato, home made and truly scrumptious. To follow this we had a vegetarian pasta dish which we shared and had a job to eat. Not due to a negative cause but just because the soup was so filling.I would defiantly have both dishes again. On the next table was a large birthday party. A ll of their meals looked delicious too.everyone in the pub was very friendly. A wonderful evening had by both of us.....

We popped in here on spec and ordered two large portions of Mussels and a portion of chips . the mussels were a bit tough in parts but the sauce was good ,and good French bread , finger bowl and the bits you need. The service was ok not particularly friendly or skilled. On clearing the dishes , the waitress was determined to place one bowl of sauce on top of another and thereby spilling the sauce , we suggested she didn't but she carried on and consequently had sauce on the floor and had to mop a further table when she did put it down. This could have been very messy, luckily we moved out off the way . The staff were pleasant enough but not particularly welcoming and everything was a bit offhand , But the price is on the high side for what is a pub with food and average at that . I have paid less for a Michelin starred one course meal locally .

Four of us popped in today and we were glad we did ! Looking through the window showed it was full but a table of four had just got up so we sat in their seats :) We all had the Breakfast at £11 each. Couldn’t fault the meal at all, plenty on the plate and locally sourced. Really good selection of coffee, tea and fresh orange 🍊 juice. Highly recommended Get a seat and order at the counter. Very pleasant polite service as well. Seating outside. Well done 👏👏

Stumbled across the cafe when we arrived in Ilfracombe and needed coffee. Quaint and characterful and clearly has it's regular customers. Coffee was good and hot but the homemade Eccles cake was amazing! The other treats looked good too. Coming across The Naked Cake cafe was the best thing about Ilfracombe which was otherwise, tatty and very down at heel.

Lovely modern roomy lodges in a beautiful location. Breakfast choice was great, cooked breakfast very good & piping hot👍 Pub food also excellent, quick service, good choices. Most staff helpful & friendly. One member of staff who greeted us on arrival wasn't welcoming. Only a couple of minor things- rusty toilet roll holder which spoilt the rest of the very new bathroom & the shelf above sink is in the way. Suggestion - small fridge, there is room. Mirror near plug sockets. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
