Whilst on holiday in the area, we visited The London Inn a few times. The food and service was excellent! In particular, one lunchtime Carrie was managing the bar, taking orders at table, answering the phone, serving and clearing tables virtually single handed! She was incredible and didn’t flinch under pressure - she just smiled and worked so hard. I hope the owners appreciate that their greatest asset is their staff! One word of advice - go on an empty stomach! Portions are substantial and totally delicious! The desserts are a dream!

We were holidaying in the area just up the road and turned up 'on spec'. They were expecting some big groups for Christmas meals so were really busy but still squeezed us in. We've been before when in the area, and the food is always brilliant and you certainly aren't leaving hungry! Decent small range of local beers too. If I was local, I'd be happy to make it my local.

Visited this pub for the first time on 2nd March, I was not disappointed, the food was excellent, I had the roast lamb with a good selection of vegetables. We had to wait about half an hour for our food, but there were 11 of us. All the food was served at the same time which was lovely, nobody had to wait. The atmosphere and hospitality were second to none. Will definitely visit again.

This place is AMAZING. The staff were all really lovely and friendly. We'd been advised the meal portions were huge and they definitely were, so much food came out. We had a really nice few hours and really struggled to fit dessert in, however never one to turn down the desserts, the kids tucked in. I would highly recommend this pub for food or a quiet drink. You would need to book in advance though and they don't open monday and Tuesdays.

We had been invited to play bowls at Morchard Bishop and decided to try this pub and the eight of us were so glad we did the ladies had the small steak and ale pie and the Scampi whilst the men had the regular size steak and ale pie and ham egg and chips. We visited the pub for lunch on Thursday. Our waitress Lauren was friendly and very attentive . Our food was delicious and the portions were large, so much so we took some home with us. I'm vegan and it's often difficult to find a village pub that caters for my diet, but there was quite a bit to choose from, even a vegan treacle tart and icecream. My partner had the roast beef special and really enjoyed it. Lovely clean pub, great decor and very impressed with the Ladies toilets equipped with deodorant, hand cream, sanitary products, antibac gel and wipes ! We will definitely be visiting again.

I have been to London Inn on numerous occasions over the years. It was a great pub pre refurbishment, post refurbishment, none of the character has been lost, yet with a fresh modern feel to the furnishings and interior decor, lifts the place up a few notches and into the era of a more modern dining experience. Comfy sofas and armchairs nestle amongst the more formal dining tables and chairs. The bar and waiting staff I have encountered on every visit have always been warm and friendly. Don't be mistaken though, London Inn isn't just a pub for eating. If you just want a drink, of which they have an eclectic selection of beverages you can. You will feel just as at ease popping in to sit with friends to quench your thirst as you would going for a meal with family or friends. The food portions are sizeable enough to feed a small army, and this in no way detracts from the quality of fayre on offer. I have just returned from the London Inn after a superb 2 course Sunday lunch, for a family of 4. The beef was to die for, tender, succulent and full of flavour. The veg cooked beautifully, I've never had peas at a pub this good! We all had 2 drinks each, 3 of us alcoholic beverages, and considering the size of the portions for both courses is stomach busting, a little under £105 I think in today's financial climate and pricing structure is great value. London Inn, well done!

I never fail to get a good meal at The London Inn and have been eating here for years. Food well cooked and plenty of it, in fact more than one can eat! Service is good and it is a friendly country pub. Vera, mother of the chef and quite a character, treats all visitors the same, with down to earth friendliness. A woodburner throws out plenty of heat in the cold weather. The roasts are so flavoursome, served with a good selection of vegetables. As others have mentioned the food is freshly cooked to order so expect to wait a little longer than you would at a fast food outlet but boy it is worth it ! 4 of the men with big appetites failed to eat all of their main courses but all were pleasantly surprised by the very high quality of the meats and vegetables. A lovely warm atmosphere at this rural pub. A good range of real ale and cider on offer. A good menu and an additional specials board. As all food freshly prepared and cooked to order, this is a slow food restaurant. Previous reviewers who complain about the speed of service are probably more use to fast food restaurants. The portions are generous and value for money. Likewise the food was hot. No-one in our party of five found fault with any of their meals..The restaurant and kitchen staff have an excellent understanding of the requirement for a Coeliac diet and will go through the available options on the menu or adapt a meal where possible.

We visited last Sunday 25th September 2016 as a party of eight adults, the first impressions were of a friendly pub frequented by the locals. We arrived on time, announced our arrival and were directed to a well presented round table (nothing like a round table as no one is left out of the conversation). There was no rush to get us sat down and we loitered at the bar for some half hour and we were not rushed to order our food. We had been told of the quality of the food and when it arrived we were not disappointed as it was perfectly cooked, all fresh vegetables and more than enough to satisfy and army (please note this review has nothing to do with the size of the portions it is about the quality of the food). We spent a very pleasant 3 hours in real pub surroundings. We shall be returning in the future. For those who have complained about the length of time it took for the food to arrive I would suggest that it goes to prove the food is freshly prepared and cooked. If you want speedy service or no gravy may I suggest you go to a burger bar where you receive the style and quality of the food you deserve. A big thank you to the staff of the London Inn for a wonderful afternoon.

Don't make a habit of eating here asFood is rubbish. Had a roast, vegetables were hard, potatoes were boiling hot and there is enough potatoes to feed the whole village it's such a waste to provide so many potatoes for one person eating a roast you have an entire serving dish, no way could you even eat them all. Was handed my plate and wasn't told it would be burning hot as I took it off the waitress and only when I pulled away as got burnt did the waitress mention it was hot!! The London Inn became our 'local' when we based ourselves in a Morchard Bishop holiday cottage for a week long trip to Devon. I think it's fair to say that we've both put around a stone on during this holiday due mainly to the HUGE portions served here! Not complaining though. Good hearty meals served piping hot were always welcome at the end of a day of walking or driving around this lovely part of the world. The service here is second to none and Vera, the landlady (who we were told is now in her 80s and a bit of a local legend) is a wonderful host. She quickly arranged to get my wife's purse back to her when we realised she had dropped it in the pub on our last night and we were already on our way home. The locals are friendly too and everyone made us Northerners feel most welcome. Highly recommend a visit!

We have been here a couple of times before and went again recently. We had a lovely main meal and desserts. The portions were huge. Service quick. Hardly anyone else there but I'm not sure why as it's very reasonably priced and just delicious. Vera is lovely too, we had a long chat and she's so friendly and welcoming. You must visit.

We had read nice things about this place so took the 20 minute drive to have dinner there last night. 7 of us ate... and it was amazing. there were only a few other tables eating, i'm amazed this place isnt busier as it was truly one of the best pub meals weve had in years. 5 of us had the pie which was great.. better than the pie was the accompaniments... mountains of fresh veg, cauli cheese, roasties and home cut chips... We ate like kings - then waddled home. Great homecooked food - with portion sizes you've always dreamed of! I hope they dont start shirinking them after reading this!!We'll be back again and again for sure.

I have reviewed the London Inn before, but as a year has passed since I was last there, I just wanted to update by saying that the food is still SO delicious and well presented - the standard has been maintained! 13 of us lunched there a couple of days ago and they were very busy (which speaks for itself, as most of those there were returning customers). All the food is freshly cooked, no microwavable meals here! It is just a regular country pub, with no pretentions, but this is the fourth time I've eaten there, even though there's places much closer to home. If you're ever in the Crediton area, do pay it a visit and sample English food at its best.

Had a meal with my wife and daughter at the London Inn on Saturdey evening and I have to say we had a lovely couple of hours. Plenty of choice on the menu together with the specials board. My wife had a roast beef dinner, my daughter chose gammon with chips, mushrooms, tomatoes and salad. Both meals were from the set menu and I chose chicken curry with rice and chips from the specials board. My daughter and her husband have recently moved to the village and we thought we would give it a try. Unfortunately my daughters husband was at work so there were just the 3 of us.We booked the meal for 7pm and arrived just before a large party who sat in the restaurant. We ate in the bar which was no problem as it was homely and cosy. Meals arrived quickly and the portions were excellent. Chips were served separately in a large dish as they would not fit on our plates. The quality was excellent and there were some leftovers due to the size of meals. My curry came with 2 pieces of naan bread and sweet chutney. Drinks were reasonably priced and there was a good choice of draught beers and lagers. The price for our 3 meals with drinks was just under £44 which I think is very reasonable. It is the first time I have been in the London Inn and it won't be the last. I can recommend it with confidence even though I read about Vera beforehand! Many thanks London Inn and I'll see you soon.

Had heard their Sunday roasts were amazing from a friend, so we were very excited to visit. However, have to admit I was disappointed. The potatoes were good but the rest of the veg very uninspiring and tasteless, some over cooked aswell, leaving it watery. Gravy wasn't fantastic either, a little thin in our opinion. A shame as I love a good roast. Not sure I would return.

One of our favourites what you get is real home cooked food that is plentiful the pub itself is looking a bit dated but do not be put off by this the land lady Vera is a real character and adds to the charm of the place do expect to wait for food as it is all cooked from fresh but is so worth the wait my wife has the pie most of the time she says it is so good she finds it hard not to have it I feel the same with the lasagne and the whole family love the chips real cut potatoes that are cooked to perfection like I say the food is real home cooked comfort food and done so well five stars to the London inn

We've been to the London a few times now for Sunday dinner, we found it by accident looking for a pub that did Sunday roasts in the evening, since then we've tried other places but keep still struggling to find anywhere that beats this place, and still struggling on the evening front.the usual choice of roast meats, but beware the portions are enormous, we've gone home with roast potatoes twice now.there's a blackboard and menu, but never tried anything, sometimes Sunday dinner is all I need... But will try the Steak and Ale soon

My husband and I have frequented the Swan Neck cafe many times, as we walk along Tiverton canal regularly. The experience has always been fantastic - cakes, coffee, hot chocolate - top rate. However my experience today was somewhat disappointing. I paid £7.50 for the soup of the day and a roll. I was astonished to see when it arrived that it was a smallish coffee cup of soup, rather than a bowl, accompanied by a small white roll. £7.50! The soup was delicious but in my opinion it should have cost about half what was paid. I always try to support small independent businesses but I'm afraid today's experience has left me feeling rather wounded and that I have been taken advantage of. Definitely not value for money in my opinion. Sorry Swan Neck but you've got it wrong on this one.

We called in for something to eat but it cost us over sixteen pounds for two coffees and two bland cakes you could go to bridge house just up the road and for another three pounds you can have two large coffees with two large snacks ,etc, Welsh rarebit with masses of gammon .the decor does not suit the bakery though I suppose that's what you are paying for but l for one do not like being ripped off,why calling a bakery when you can't buy any bread or cakes as you have to order it days in advance and there isn't any thing on display in the window. They are trying to be an upmarket cafe in the wrong place.we won't bother going there again ,rather go up the road ., at least we won't be ripped off.

I visited this tea room whilst waiting for my bus to Umberleigh. After travelling from Preston, Lancashire I was happy to be able to relax with a coffee. The staff were really friendly and the place had a great vibe. City life can be a bit hectic so it was refreshing to visit this little tea room and we were even tempted with cake which was delicious!
