It was a grey overcast January lunchtime so there was a chilly/damp feel in the pub as soon as we entered. Having the fire lit would’ve solved this problem, and also added a bit of ambiance! The staff were all friendly and very welcoming! Great selection on the carvery - the vegetables were all lovely! Same price (£10) for vegetarian carvery (no meat, just vegetables) - thought that was a bit unfair. One huge area that needs working on is the toilets. The ladies toilet was dirty and damp. An old rusty looking toilet brush, no sanitary bin so the normal bin was overflowing and you could see used sanitary items. With a good mop and simple spruce up (fix toilet roll holder), it would be much improved! The food was great, just a shame it was cold inside the pub and not the most hygienic facilities 🚽 Carpark right outside.

12 of us went for a birthday meal. The portion of meat was really small on my plate, I literally got scraps then when I sat down they bought out fresh meat. And others in our group got much bigger servings of meat. The servings didn't seem to have any continuity for the same price.

This is a quaint traditional pub. We were camping a short walk away and used the pub whilst there for something to eat. We found out that Lauren and Aron had only took over six months previously, our first meal was the Sunday Carvery which was excellent. The menu is varied and good value for money, I think between us we covered most of it! Not one bad meal totally enjoyable. Also the pub is dog friendly which is a bonus as we have a small pooch.

We have eaten here quite often as its our local. That said, we sadly won’t be eating there again. The food is always lovely but the same can’t be said of the service. We ordered our food at 6pm and had to ask at 7:10pm where our food was?!! We were told “I told you there were only two of us!!!” Actually, I simply commented that they didn’t have the usual amount of ‘Specials’ on the board and was told there’s only been two of them for 3 months. I wasn’t advised that our food may take over an hour because of this. There was only 1 other table of 3 eating and were served at least 30 mins before us. We had no apologises for the wait, despite having to ask how long our food would take. My partner wanted to leave but we were so hungry we stayed purely through hunger. Even on service we were just given the food, no apologies, just ignored!!!! Very sorry to have to give a bad review but to be honest I’m utterly disappointed. There was no need to speak to us in the manner the landlady did! She’s always been ‘offish’ but tonight takes the biscuit!!!!

My sister and I travelled down from Devon for an afternoon meeting and decided to take lunch locally. We couldn't fault the (lunchtime) food here: I had the fish and chips and it was, by anyone's standards, excellent: lovely crispy batter, delicious fish (huss) and good chips. My sister had the smaller steak option and said it was well cooked. However, the welcome we received on arrival was barely lukewarm. The woman behind the bar couldn't have been less interested in us, even though we'd booked a table for lunch for which we were the only customers! As she checked the booking her only comment was, 'I thought there were three of you.'She didn't show us the menu - it took the only other person in the place, a local having a pint at the bar, to do that - and her over all demeanour was not one of 'good hostess.' Good points? The fire was lit and warming on a cool autumn day, the beer was good (I had the guest 'Legend') and the food excellent value. Later the owner came out to deal with our bill and he could not have been nicer. But I would recommend they leave the grumpy staff in the back.

Called in here last week as we wanted a countryside village English pub instead of a large commercial chain. All we wanted was a nice meal with the friendly locals in a nice friendly pub. Well that didn't happen. It looks cheery enough as you go in, but there was no hello welcome, no ambiance no atmosphere at all. A few locals at the bar and the bar lady was surly and abrupt. The food should have been good. It said on the exterior ' Fresh cooked food. Umm, wrong! I ordered the lamb shank which certainly was the two for a fiver frozen variety similar to supermarket. The mash I suspect was leftover from lunch, reheated in microwave and the gravy well that comes in the bag with the lamb, so where is the 'home cooking' there then. No staff member checked that the food was okay until the plates were collected. On mine was nearly all of my dry flavourless lamb, most of the lumpy mash and carrots again not fresh. Why advertise fresh cooked food when it clearly isn't. I told the girl who collected my plate that I couldn't eat it as it was dry and flavourless and the reply I got was, 'ah bless you never mind it doesn't matter'!! Nothing from the kitchen. Mind you I did get some glum looking stares from said bar lady. Customer skills??? not in this pub. A friendly smile, no sorry probably not that either.

We had friends around and decided to pop across the road for a meal as we had heard good things about the new owners ! When we arrived the main door was open as it was a humid day we later learn't ! As soon as the last person walked in , out of politeness he closed the door, only for the landlady to shout "Why have you closed the door" in an abrupt tone ! We duly re opened the door and booked in for our meal. We were not greeted with a smile , more of a grimace. we were told where we will be sitting and decided on the carvery. The meal was average to say the least, the gravy bland, the potatoes were aunt bessy specials and all in all it was alright but not anything great ! After the meal I went to the bar to pay and was totally ignored by the landlady for a full 5 minutes even though she was constantly walking past and doing other things, a simple " I'll be with you asap would have sufficed" . When she finally decided to attend to my payment . It was the total asked for and not as much as a thankyou for your custom or how was your meal ! All in all I felt very let down by my local and will think twice before going in there again !

We came here for dinner on a Sunday night. The service was abrupt and restricted (you can order food but have to get your drinks at the bar) and the food took a long time to arrive. My "home-cooked" meal (rack of ribs) included off-colour veg that looked like it had been reheated. As I couldn't have my original choice of pudding (they were completely out of fruit), I had chocolate fudge cake that had been microwaved so it was hard in places. I understand microwaving food is common practice in lots of pubs, but if you're going to do it, at least do it well. Staff came to clear our plates while two of our party were still eating.I didn't drink any of the ales but I've been informed by those who did that the rotation isn't very impressive either. One positive was the range of meals available and the fixed price menu. However, until the quality of the food and service improves, I'd recommend you go to one of the many lovely pubs elsewhere in Cornwall.

We recently travelled down to Cornwall on the A30 and were looking for a convenient lunch stop. The London Inn was very convenient, take the Summercourt exit and the Pub is on the left just before the village centre traffic lights. Pass the Pub on your left and then turn left into their large car park. When you leave exit the Car park, turn left, straight across the lights and you re-join the A30 about 1000m down the road, very convenient. As for the pub itself, very welcoming staff and a good menu. Lunch menu was a mixture of Sandwiches, Burgers and Fish meals. We had the Burgers which were very tasty with chips and salad (also very good). Highly Recommended would use it again.

Decided to give the London inn a yet after passing it numerous times over the years and saying we must give it a go.Mother's Day loomed large & so the reservation was made. 4 adults & one 3yr old. The food was delicious & generous portioned. All opting for the standard portion of a roast for which there was also a large so goodness only knows how big that was. Choice of 4 meats & appropriate condiments ready on your table. Service was excellent & timely, the deserts were as delicious as the main & the warm, friendly atmosphere was so delightful. I could see it will be one we will most certainly be visiting again. Highly recommend it.

Stopped here on the way back home to west Cornwall after a rugby weekend in Exeter. We wanted a quick, filling and satisfying Sunday roast and this was spot on - a great value plate of wholesome food washed down by some excellent Keltek beers. Welcoming and buzzy we left as very happy bunnies.

Went for a spontaneous Birthday meal, had a very nice Surf & Turf, cooked just right, everyone in our party enjoyed their meal, clean plates and no complaint sums it up. Great Keltec Brewery beers for real beer lovers too.Staff are great and Cassie the dog has to know what is going on with everyone. All round great experience.

Sincerely the best Pasty I have had. Proper hot. Hygiene was impeccable.Well done guys!Don't know if the pasties were made onsite or not, but 10/10 from this visitor!

Me & my boyfriend were camping up the road at Resparva. The pub is about a 10 min walk down the road. The landlord, landlady & Cassie the gorgeous chocolate lab are lovely. It's a dog friendly pub. We had a lovely cheese board :-) & played a few games of pool. Highly recommended.

been meaning to eat here for a while as saw signs saying they prepared fresh local produce.tried it tonight, wow what a gem. Great food great atmosphere just like a perfect pub should be. The food was excellent and believe me I'm a fussy maid so would be the first to complain if it wasn't up to my standards. If you're looking for value for money, great service and great food this place is fantastic. Don't all crowd in though as we intend to return really soon.

Down in Cornwall for my Son's Wedding. This venue is in the village where my Grand-Son lives so took him for an early dinner on Saturday evening. Not many people dining for a Saturday but it was early and more were coming in by the time we left.Good food and drinks menu. Home-type cooking. Very enjoyable. Try it.

We stopped here on an off chance and so glad we did the bar man Was so helpful and friendly he couldn't do enough for us. The landlord was great to he rang the local campsite for us to get us in for the night and was also the chef. The food was delicious really good standard and fabulous service. We enjoyed it that much we went to the camp site and went back for a drink and a chat with the landlord til 11. He was very pleasant unlike his wife who wasn't as cheerful and was miserable. I would go back there cos the food was lovely.

What a gem! We had no idea where to go for lunch but chose the shed; a great choice! The steak was so good and the sole cooked to perfection. Great wine, appetisers and dessert to boot. Fantastic value and the service was great Thank you so much.

The staff were friendly, the service was prompt, the food was good. It's about as good as you could hope for from a family friendly restaurant at the price that it is.

Absolutely wonderful visit. The cream tea was the best I think I’ve ever had. Warm scones, huge pot of cream and delicious jam, must be homemade. The tea was piping hot and came with an additional tea bag should you like it strong.
