Great fish and chips, portions are enormous though, big appetites will love this place.

I’m sorry to have to post this as I have been getting my Fish n Chips here for years, but my takeaway this evening was very poor quality. The batter was uneven, thin and soggy and the chips were way too big and undercooked.

Visited a few times on the way home, good as usual!! Recommend! Easy parking, next to patrol station, convenient for us.

Poor show. This used to be a great chip shop under previous owners. It has now become a dirty, poor food producing dive. Removed all loyalty and discounts(NHS, blue light, Defence....). Needs a good clean, broken light bulbs, broken flooring, dirty surfaces, dust and dirt that obviously hasn't been moved or attempted to be cleaned in months. The food is now tasteless and bland, with reheated and reused chips. Shame used to be nice place for fish and chips. I understand the economic position some businesses are in, but when cleanliness, quality and freshness is compromised in order to maintain profits, then there is a lack of understanding of the trade.

This is the first time we have used The Loft. The fish was ok but sadly the chips weren’t They were black - looks like they had been caught by the frost and there were so many small and crispy bits. Would avoid the chips next time

A reasonably priced skinless fish and chips! Very speedy and a very friendly team who were really helpful around dietary advice as we had a coeliac in our group. They use a separate fryer and the gluten free batter was crispy and delicious. Would return!

Cracking take out, best chips and portion in Chich, plenty of choice of fish type too, box, lemon and tarter sauce, nice touch!

Unfortunately let by deliveroo who's driver claimed they couldn't find the house when they were nowhere near it, and then lied about how long they had waited there, when i was standing at that location in the rain waiting for them! However i will be buying from the loft again just not using deliveroo again!

Not really a lot needs saying. It's good food, im not a massive fan of cod and chips but occasionally when i fancy it, this is definitely my favourite place to go. Do love a good battered sausage too ;)

The food is terrible the fish was ok but has been tappered with as no black skin on the fillet but the batter was over cooked in places an had thick bits inside that wasnt cooked the chips very dry an the sausages are cheap but priced high won't be going back to this place.

Best fish and chips I've ever eaten !

We've been here many times and never been disappointed. My daughter and I both need gluten free and I'm so pleased to have this place local. They have separate fry vats for gf and I've never been unwell from eating there (a fairly rare occurrence when eating out as a coeliac!). The fact they do the gf options means we can all get a takeaway together as a family.. All the regular fish and chips/ sausage and chips/ veggie options you'd expect are available and the family members ordering these are always very happy. Please keep doing what you're doing!

Stopped to grab cod and chips last week. Lovely fresh fluffy chips and flaky cod in a light clean batter. Most importantly cooked in clean fat. 5*

Fish is always delicious, burgers a bit hit and miss, can be great, sometimes meh. Best chips in the area, really tasty, perfectly cooked, and plenty of them. Mozzarella sticks good... halloumi fritters great. Usually busy, staff can seem a little overwhelmed at times but usually polite and friendly. Really well run fish and chip shop.... def my go to.

I had a meal from here while on a callout for power cut in the area.i had pea fritter and chips,which were very tasty.i strongly recommend this chippy. It has a lot to choose from.and various deals.

After a dire experience from another local chippy, we were a little put off but decided to give this place a go. The food is mostly made fresh to order in quieter times, so there is a little wait, but worth it for everything fresh and not sat for hours. The service was really friendly, and the food was terrific. Its a bit more than we are used to paying for fish and chips but we'll definitely be back, worth paying a little extra for to get a great quality meal.

**Update** I went back-too good to resist..mushy peas aren't too bad either! No photo because it was too scrummy to wait. I can't remember the last time I was given a lemon wedge and some Tartare sauce with takeaway fish and chips - a very nice touch which brought out the flavour of the cod. Fish and the chips cooked to perfection. Highly recommended.

Great fish and chips (although chips sometimes taste like they’ve been reheated) and lots of other deliciousness on the menu, but I just love the people in here. They’re so lovely and smiley and polite. Six stars if the chips are always freshly cooked 😘

Fast efficient service just way to many chips for us. Would be great if they did smaller portions as we hate to waste food.

I passed this fish and chips shop for few times, and this was the first time I stopped and bought food from it. The food were freshly cooked to order. I ordered cod, it was fresh and tasty, was in a fluffy batter, and the chips were fluffy and not greasy at all. The size of the portion was great.

I like the chips but always have to throw more than half away as regular is the smallest they do. I hate throwing food away, so I'll choose to go else where that do small sizes or cones. PLEASE start doing a small size!

Bought haddock and chips to eat in goodwood. Chips well over done, fish over done and tasted of a wierd oil. Not very nice. The bin enjoyed. Very disappointing as we have had food from here before and it was tasty.

One of the worst, if not the worst fish and chips I’ve ever had. The chips were certainly the worst ever, I’m pretty sure they were old chips that were refried, greasy, hard, like cardboard and oily. The fish itself was not bad quality, though very small for a regular size, but the batter absolutely awful- again, greasy cardboard

We usually order from a different chippy at work, but as it was closed I recommended the Loft and I wish I hadn't. The large chips was exactly the same size as the regular, and even the regular portion was poor. The curry sauce tasted strange and was very watery. The sausage was okay though. I have eaten here before and it was very good, but I wouldn't recommend now.

Chips used to be lovely but gone downhill lately also the scampi is in batter not the usual breadcrumbs…. If I’d known this before ordering I wouldn’t have bothered, should really state batter but didn’t…. £11 wasted !!

Currently sat in the car, eating the best chicken nuggets, chips and battered sausage I've ever tasted. The only way I could describe it is the type of food you treat yourself to on holiday. Except its not overpriced and the service was brilliant! Regular sized chips feel like a large portion and the staff were so friendly, and we were served very quickly!

Probably the best fish and chips I've ever had and the portions are massive.

Have eaten from here several times - fish is always lovely with crispy batter and flaky fish perfectly cooked. Chips are also really crispy and don’t go soggy in the box! Portion sizes are really generous- a medium portion of chips is plenty for 2 people and the large fish is enormous. You do have to wait a few minutes for your order as everything is cooked fresh to order but don’t mind as worth the wait. Ample parking on site and co op right next door so can always put order in then pop next door to pick up groceries. Highly recommended

It's ok. The access to it looks great but actually is really not. The building was originally a car showroom so the car park is oriented for rows of parked cars for sale, or cars waiting for servicing. Unfortunately, since it is now a small supermarket, petrol forecourt, and the chip shop, once you're parked you have to have your wits about you while you avoid the free for all traffic management. The food is good enough, it's pretty difficult to produce bad fish and chips, but these guys do well enough. Chips are cut a little too thick for me and sometimes are a bit "firm" in the middle as a result.

Lovely fish and chips! You don't get soggy stuff unlike a lot of other fish and chip places and they are very quick to get your order done. Staff are polite and friendly and the food tastes great. It's the only place I go for fish and chips now 🥰

Tasty fresh fish, lovely light and crispy batter and chips that actually stay crisp - how do they do it? Don't know but they do! And to have gluten free options too - WIN! And lovely team to boot.

Have eaten fish and chips from here several times. What sets this place apart is (excuse the pun) ample parking as it's next to a Coop and petrol station. Reasonably priced, Good selection of dishes, not just fish but scampi, Calamari just to mention a few. But the outstanding bit is the chips. So often fish and chip shops serve up soggy chips but this place manages crispy chips even after you've got them home wrapped in paper.

What has happened? The fish and chips used to be the best in the area but the last two visits were terrible, the fish was dry and burnt and the chips were like cardboard. I guess the business is under new management, what a disappointment, won’t ever be going there again.

What happened?? The quality of food use to be fantastic here , but the last two visits have been disappointing! The chips tasted burnt and dry leaving an unpleasant after taste and the fish was tasteless with way to much batter.

Best Fish & Chips I've ever had!!

Third visit to the loft in as many months. 2 weeks ago 19.45hrs ordered 2 x large cod, 1 large chips, 1 x regular chips, pickled onion and a gherkin, cost a tad under £20. Only me waiting and no queue behind me. 19.55hrs I’m thinking the fish should be out by now or it will be over-cooked. 20.03hrs finally the fish comes out. In my kitchen fish takes 5 – 7 minutes depending on how thick the fish is, the temperature of the cooking oil, the temperature of the fish out of the fridge drawer. I walk to our parked car thinking the fish is going to be like eating rubber bands…and they were ! The fish wasn’t large, more medium. The chips were good, a good quality chipping potato, rumbled, freshly chipped, blanched on site. So we only wasted £13.20 on two pieces of medium fish. Clearly the guy frying the fish isn’t experienced nor a chef. You know why I didn’t go back and complain ? The whole episode took circa 30 minutes to establish the meal was very poor, I was hungry and so was the Mrs. The lady in the background (probably the owner) needs to monitor the quality of the food being cooked and served. Fish and chips are easy to get right. If the guy on the fryer was learning then he should have a simple cheap timer, you can get at least a couple of timers for £13.20. As we first came across The Loft on the way to get Covid-19 jabs and our third visit was a detour, we probably wouldn’t risk going back unless the owner responds to this review and we are offered another meal on the house. There it is, an honest review of a simple meal that wasn’t worth £20. Let’s see what happens…..

Have been working at the Goodwood Festival of speed this week I stopped by for an evening meal I can’t rate the service and quality of the food highly enough absolutely excellent

Had fish and chips from here opening weekend, awful then. Thought would grab a large fish and chips for my wife and I some years on, I had heard it was a change in staff. Won't come here again, I was surprised to recover my meals after 3/4 minutes, got home, tiniest piece of fish I have seen from a chippy and it was a large, overcooked fish, I would say recooked, dry. Very overpriced, definitely the worst chippy I have been to.

Tasty food however the opening times on both google and the website is incorrect, as they close at 9 on weekdays. Quite disappointed we couldn't order, so thought I'd share to help avoid others getting disappointed

Ordered 2 large cod and 1 Large chips … served with a wedge of lemon , freshly cut with a sachet of tartare sauce . two portions of sausages in Batter with cheesy chips . The cod was full well packed of white meat , batter was crispy and all served hot . Sausages in Batter , also were good , with there cheesy chips . Well prepared and served nicely , 4 served to hand ensured a good service .

This was my first vist today and must say great service excellent value and the food was so tasty if I could I would have given it 6 stars .deffently the best chip shop in chichester .they even made my special request order with no hassel

Closed Today - Sunday 2nd May 2021. Website states that it’s open 12pm - 9pm!! I even called the day before and asked if it was ok to place an order over the phone tomorrow and they said no problem. No mention of the fact they wouldn’t be open.

Just can't beat the quality of the produce and the service. Very little oil on the fish . Chips are fabulous. I've waited for some tome to leave a comment, I have now have had six meals and can't fault any

Fish & chips bought here were cooked to perfection. Plenty in portions given. Quick service and a smile. Visited twice, and consistent. Packaging can be recycled.

I have just had probably the best fish and chips possible. The staff are friendly and welcoming. Such a shame that I live quite far from the shop but will make sure to visit whenever I am in the area.

Great food! Unfortunately not so great coronavirus awareness.. I used to eat here regularly however on many occasions I have found that most of the time staff would have their face covers around their chin, or beneath their nostrils. I have also seen poor hand hygiene ( lack of cleaning after touching their own faces.) LETS STOP THE SPREAD OF COVID AND ACT RIGHT! Also why not use surgical face-masks, they are really cheap and you are handling food..
