The Lodge - Bar & Kitchen in Trafford

This is the second review I have written for The Lodge. The last was in Jan 2023 when I felt compelled to write a 'poor' review regarding my experience when sitting watching my daughter have her skiing lesson. AT THAT TIME - the place looked dreadful, there were dirty dishes on most of the tables in the servery area, yet the staff were stood talking, I heard them say they had run out of clean cups, they seemed totally unaware or disinterested in the state of the place and the customer experience. HOWEVER, today I ate lunch there, Tuna Mayo Ciabatta and Fries & a glass of draught lemonade. The drink was fresh, fizzy & cold & the food was very tasty & hot. The lady who served me was very pleasant and the service was quick.

Very beautiful space with good food. The options are decent enough for the type of setting. They have a kids menu as well. We had the chicken and bacon club sandwich, sweet potato fries and halloumi fries. The food looked good and tasted really great. Some seats were just beside the window that overlooks the ski. There's also a balcony that gives a good view of the ski

Can't pay in cash that alone make this place poor service

The burger was amazing. All of my family were very pleased with the quality of the food and service. Would definitely come again. Although, I could see the Chef was by himself and seemed like he was working very hard in the back. A young tall lad with dirty blonde hair. But the service was great from the catering staff and a another young girl with a pink streak in her hair. But all and all my family had a great evening and would definitely come back!

I had a great time at the lodge! Barney served me and he was a delight. It’s a great place to hang out after snowboarding.

Lovely and friendly staff, quick service and tasty food. Food sizes good for a quick bite after some time on the slopes. Lovely relaxed atmosphere too, I hope we can come back soon!! 🥰

Still waiting for our food after 1 hour. The lost our order and now waiting a lot to be served. Not many people around, so a long wait is really unacceptable. Never again

The staff were pleasant at the till, but when they came to clear tables around us the girl was quick and never received a check back, and our daughter was still eating The food took 30mins to arrive which if it was busy I would understand but it wasn't when I went to ask for the food they said they had a lot of food orders When the food arrived the burgers were over cooked and under seasoned I would personally only go here for a drink if I come back

I come here because it means something to me! I enjoy watching the slopes and it’s where I took my girlfriend for the first time, the staff are polite and nice but the service did frustrate me. There was 3 staff at the bar and my food which I ordered was just waiting on the pass which I could see and they all just walked past it and just didn’t serve the food. Then when I received the food my burger was pink, now I have an upset stomach, was it the burger? Who knows but I don’t think I’ll get the burger again.

We come here regularly and the staff are always pleasant, helpful and friendly. Food is delicious and well presented and the hot choc is fab.

It's pretty rare I feel compelled to review a place negatively, but I feel a bit robbed. I ordered the soup for my lunch at £6, and when it arrived - I thought there had been a mistake as barely half the small bowl was full. I took it back to the bar and was told that is in fact the portion size. I counted how many spoonfuls it was when I ate it....6. 6 spoonfuls of soup and 2 small pieces of bread for £6. I know food has gone up, but that really is taking the mick. This isn't a reflection on the service which was fine, but whoever is making the decisions about portion sizes is having a laugh. I've then read back through some previous reviews and it seems that others have had similar experiences. We have started skiing regularly at Chillfactore and as a result won't spend our money here again, rather over at Nandos.

Nice selection of food. Not too much choice for vegetarian or vegan

Came here for a snack and a glass of wine . Ordered vegan hot dog and vegan chilli fries , which took I while but were really nice . Staff were helpful and friendly and it's a great location overlooking the ski slope.

Horrible food. Burger cheap meat and burnt to a crisp, no flavour. Almost stale buns..frozen chips. Not good. Wish I went Mcdonalds 😪

I've been a couple of times on the slopes and by far last visit have to say that was horrible, order 3 hot chocolates and took almost 45min to get all drinks on a quiet day

We came after being on the slopes and served by molly, she was very attentive and the drinks were lovely. Definitely will come again

I came to watch my boyfriend ski and ordered a coffee while I waited. It was a nice atmosphere. Molly brought my coffee quickly and she was lovely and accommodating. The view at the lodge is amazing, I love being able to see the slope through the window.

Very poor service, sat for 30 minutes waiting for food on a uncleared table despite 3 female serves stood chatting waiting for food to come out. Food arrived, burger worse than McDonald’s

We sit in the Lodge once a month and have a hot drink and watch our daughter whilst she has a ski lesson. Its usually ok - apart from being £3 for a hot drink from a machine at the back of the bar. But today we visited at approx 3pm and the place looked dreadful. There were dirty dishes on most of the tables in the servery area and yet the staff were stood talking. When they did venture out to collect a few cups (I heard them say they had run out of clean ones) they wandered over to a table picked up a few items and wandered back. They just needed to get a few trays and spend 10 minutes tidying up but they seemed totally unaware or disinterested in the state of the place and the customer experience. Next time we will get a Costa takeaway from downstairs and sit in the other viewing area. Its such a shame because with the right staff it could be really good.

Visited on a busy Saturday. Was a wait to be served but Katie on the till was great, she apologised for the wait was bright and bubbly to everyone she served. Was a wait to collect my coffee but coffee was lovely when received. Food had a 30 minute wait (was made aware before ordering) but worth the wait as the nachos sharer was delicious. Kids meals were ordered later on they came out fast with less wait time. Cannot fault the food or the service today. Tables need to be cleared faster so people can sit down - only saw Katie doing this when the tills had quietend down but not a major issue and did not ruin our visit.

Terrible service. 30 minutes for a cup of tea, and people got their orders before we did despite having ordered after. Would have ordered food, but was told it would be at least an hour for a portion of fries. Better options available at Chill Factore.

Went to the Lodge for some food after snow play with the kids, it was so busy, but despite that the staff were all really friendly and doing their absolute best. We had the kids nuggets and burgers and it was all served up hot and fresh. Special thanks to the two young girls who were working hard behind the bar 👍

I visited today and was treated rudely by a member of staff who's name I can't remember (she's short with long brown hair). There was a long queue and I could see that other staff members looked quite stressed as they tried their hardest to please everyone. The girl who served me was very snappy and seemed frankly quite 'pissed off' everytime I asked for my snack which she had forgotten to get me, I even heard her mutter something under her breath and she stormed away. I previously asked for a Hot Chocolate which she snapped back at me saying it wasn't working when i had seen others walking around with Hot Chocolate's in Lodge mugs. Frankly, I feel she just couldn't be bothered. The real game changer was the food, I ordered the Nacho Sharer and the Hollumi Fries which were amazing. So compliments to the Chef(s) and the Staff who were delivering the food. They seemed to have a really good system going and it worked! I will come again but I hope that waitress changes her attitude towards others. If you don't like it, why don't you leave?

Terrible Christmas party food. Overpriced and poorly cooked. Very disappointing. Please avoid. Poor quality.

We visited The Lodge today and I was shocked. The staff were lazy, slow and miserable. One girl was even making herself a drink admiring herself whilst customers were waiting. I missed watching over half of my child's lesson because I was waiting...waiting...waiting (for a cold coffee). There were dirty cups and plates all over the restaurant on every table. If a drink got delivered, the staff just walked past all the dirty plates on the way back, not even bothering to pick a single one up despite being empty handed. I come from a service industry background and this kind of performance enables the business to just about keep its head above water, at best. Next time I will be picking up a costa, bringing a flask, or just going without. Better service and I would go back for breakfast and maybe even two coffees!! It is a shame, and it is almost painful to watch how the staff operate this venue. Many good reviews about Molly below, maybe Molly should be made manager or above and get the staff into shape? I'm pretty sure this place will be shut within 12 months if it carries on like it has done today...Lodge you can do so much better with a bit of time, effort, training and behavioural standards.

Possibly the worst meal I have ever eaten… ordered the tartiflette and received four pieces of potato swimming in oil and a piece of lettuce. A lot of options were also unavailable. Nothing looked like the photos and even the pizza had a strange taste....

We visited after using Chill Factore, the Lodge was very quiet. We ordered two adult meals and two children's meals. They had sold out of Tartiflette so we both ordered the Beef Goulash. Food took over half an hour to arrive, kids meals were OK...

This place is awful. When we where here they had no hot chocolate and no food, the staff are lovely and has a view of slope but that's that. Even the staff where drinking Costa coffee 🤣

Avoid anything with chicken on, nearly lost my teeth biting into the ultimate burger, my friends chicken schnitzel could have been used as lead to cap the leaking roof on the slope.. Chicken BLT don’t bother get to Tesco for a meal deal. Chips were alright that’s about it.

Small breakfast was very nice. Excellent hash browns. For only £5 this was a bargain! Good coffee. The long tables give it a ski resort feel. There is a open balcony to view the lesson and snowpark area. Update: Oct 22, you need a pick axe to eat the tartiflette and the beef goulash was so salty!!! Zapped food.

Waited 1 hour for food to come, turns out it had been sitting in the pass for half that time and they had the wrong table number so just assumed we'd disappeared. Food was incredibly dry and cold by that stage.

Enjoyed food and drink at the lodge we ordered a deluxe hot chocolate and chicken strips, both very good, served by MATT who was nice and friendly. thankyou for a great experience

Come here on a regular basis and while my daughter and husband are on the slopes I always grab a coffee and something to eat. Prices are reasonable which is an added bonus. Staff go above and beyond making sure tables are clean and tidy. Coffee is always hot and food it excellent. We have never once had bad customer service and are always greeted with a beautiful smile especially from Nicole.

Always here way too often, working my way through the menu. Pizzas are good value, fries are amazing. Salads lovely and fresh and they have hot sauce! Service always great and brought to table.

My daughter and I came for some breakfast at the Lodge before her Skiing group. She had the mini english breakfast, which she said was great and I had the avocado with poached eggs which was delicious with a flat white. Daisy and Molly on...

I came to visit with my boyfriend for lunch, Molly served us as she was so welcoming, she was so helpful with the menu. We both had the burgers and it was lovely.

I had a lovely visit at the chill factor ‘The Lodge’ after I finished my skiing session. Molly served me and she was excellent! She was very attentive and friendly. Overall a really positive experience and fantatsic service from Molly. I will be back again!

Love going for my weekly coffee, post ski. Molly is always there and is so welcoming. Great service & coffee too.

I came in a few weeks ago and just want to say thank you to a girl called Molly. I have an avocado allergy and not everyone asks if you have an allergy these days and she was very professional and asked (as law requires)...

Drinks were lovely and I had a very nice time, our waitress Emmy was really positive and helpful. Food was lovely too.

Molly served us, she was so lovely and welcoming. Service was excellent. Would love to come back again!

Visited whilst had ski lessons downstairs. Staff all lovely, served by Katie on the bar who entertained my children with her dancing and singing. Was recommended the pizza and the size was so much bigger than expected and tasted amazing. Lovely time had by all.

Visited here recently. Couldn't have asked for a better service. Molly made my experience at the Lodge fantastic and the Salads were delicious.

I came to The Lodge for a coffee after skiing at the chill factor. The place is lovely and so were the staff. I was served by Molly she was so happy and friendly. Would definitely come again.

Ordered a breakfast and it came without hash browns, tomatoes and the toast didn't come with butter. I only found out that they had ran out of hash browns when one of our party, who ordered a vegetarian breakfast asked why she didn't have two hash browns or vegetarian sausages and the reply was "we have ran out of hash browns". 20 minutes later she has finished her food and still no vegetarian sausages have arrived. Very disappointed not to have been told this at the point of ordering and was still charged the full price.
