The Locks Restaurant in Cheshire West and Chester

The Woodland is close to Ellemere Port Hospital and serves for much of the day. Usual "Stonehouse" fayre. Very pleasant member of staff who checked for allergies and carried our drinks to our table as I am dodgy on my feet. We took advantage of the offer of two meals for £11.75 from a reduced menu. Pleasant food, but nothing special, except the price.

Both curries tasted exactly the same. When I told the lad this he made a non-committal noise but after the meal the manager behind the bar came over and explained that they’d run out of one of the “pastes”?! So - they were the same. Would have been better to have been advised beforehand as mine was far too hot for my personal taste. Nice people, nice surroundings, average food, poor communication. By the time you’ve added rice to your dishes, curries are becoming expensive. Let’s face it, we don’t have to add on £3-4 for potatoes and vegetables if we go to a pub. This needs to change.

I wasn't a customer here, I came here because I was really ill and needed the bathroom. The staff were so kind to me, they checked in on me and gave me water it was very sweet. I will 100% come here when I am up for a drink just due to the sheer kindness they gave.

A very comfortable space but a bit big. High ceiling makes it quite noisy. Not cosy but spacious. Food offer was good and the coffee was very good. Service at a high efficient standard.

I can only describe this place as a complete and utter shambles. I booked a table for 6pm and was stood waiting for 15 minutes. I had to go next door as it was linked to a take away, to get a member of staff. Met with a disgruntled staff member, who came into what they describe as a restaurant, to be told its not our fault the bell is not working and throws 2 takeaway menus on the table and left for the takeaway next door. I noticed a couple in the corner who had looked like they had a torrid time but stuck with it. With that, I said, this is a joke and we left. Not for couples, definitely not a restaurant, it’s a takeaway playing at being a restaurant.🤣 On a happier note, we went straight to another place.
