The Locker Cafe in Cambridge

This used to be one of my favourite brunch places when I lived in Cambridge! I‘ve now moved out but came back to visit a friend, and I was really happy that we could find a table for 2 as it is always pretty busy. The staff is always very kind, the atmosphere so warm and cosy, and the food is great!

Yummy brunch, friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere. I recommend going there on a weekday if you want to avoid the weekend crowd.

Used to be my favourite Cambridge coffee shop until they got rid of the student discount (cuz it’s expensive) and portions got smaller! Still such a lovely atmosphere ❤️

Delicious coffee and great pastries. The Café has a large outdoor sunny terrace which is great when the sun is out!

The vibe is really nice but the breakfast we ordered was very dry and not appealing. They also weren’t, at all, flexible in the way they would serve the egg. Overall wouldn’t give it more than 2 because of the coffee and would not recommend the food. Maybe if they change their ways I’ll give it a shot again but for now it’s only a coffee place if all others are shut.

It's my go-to place for breakfast or brunch when I visit Cambridge. Nice atmosphere as it is a small and cute place but that makes it hard to find a table during busy hours. The staff is very friendly and the food is delicious. Their hot chocolate is very nice as well! ☕

I used to really like this place. However, they have since changed their menu with some shrinkflation tactics (making default options smaller and charging extra for add-ons) and I believe they also got rid of the student discount. This left me disappointed on my last visit, but then again, I had high expectations from my previous visits.

Busy bustling cafe. You will need to wait for a table from around 10-12 on the weekends. No laptops or tablets allowed here at the weekends, to make room for groups. They bring your order to your table. Outdoor seating across the road. I would like to return for brunch.

Had breakfast here before a tour of Cambridge , halloumi and shrooms , really good fresh tasty and great quality. The coffee was superb , really recommend this one

Best breakfast in Cambridge on a Monday

Staff and atmosphere were fab. The brunch is also nice. The toasty (approx. £7) had a single rasher of bacon, which was… an interesting cost saving choice.

Great for a quick bite and a chat off the beaten/crowded paths of Cambridge. They usually have plenty of space upstairs.

Their hot chocolate was great. They have quite clean washroon and you can use your laptop in really cozy place. Highly recommended

Really good place to work in the week, particularly upstairs. Food and drinks are good too. The café workers are friendly. It's a little expensive but the location is nice in the centre of Cambridge

Bloody excellent coffee, and I’m definitely a coffee snob, with friendly service in this small, busy cafe. We were so impressed by the coffee that we stayed for brunch which was also pretty good.

Food and customer service was amazing. We ordered the pancakes which came with delicious mascarpone,blueberries, maple syrup and strawberries. The poached eggs and toast were also superb. The locker cafe has a wonderful warm and cozy atmosphere perfect for the cold weather. Definitely recommend

Nice enough place with very well meaning staff and consistent reasonable quality but always a shock when told the price. £4.20 for a standard cup of hot chocolate is just taking it too far. However, it's always heaving with students on their laptops so they must know what they're doing.

Excellent. Smashed avocado on toast with poached egg is by the far best that i have in Cambridge. Coffee is also 👍. Service is friendly and cheerful. Just what i want to start my day.

Food is great, a little pricey but worth it I think. Great coffee, clean cafe, nice if you can get a window seat. Worth a visit for breakfast. The rosemary and thyme mushrooms are so nice.

We’ve just had brunch here after looking at the reviews for local breakfast spots. This is a lovely place, friendly staff, breakfast, coffee and pastries were all delicious 😋 Nice atmosphere and music indoors with an option to sit out across the road as well 😊

Tip top brunch. The best in Cambridge IMO. He sourdough bread is incredible, very fresh. Food delivered hot to table (difficult considering how many tables they were turning over!! ) very impressive. Coffee also great. Will be back for more.

Really nice place for brunch. Outdoor seating also available if weather permits. We visited and sat inside. The food was fine. A bit too much reliance on sun dried tomatoes. Really nice ambience and staff.

Don’t recognise this place anymore, used to be the best coffee in town… now there’s no difference between some random pub coffee. Food is terrible and crazy overpriced for what you get… Sad because it used to be my favourite spot.

Great little independent cafe. Visited here whilst waiting for car to be serviced. Coffee was strong and good, food was fresh and well presented. Inside was a little grubby to be honest and could do with a good scrub but quite common in little cafes with a lot of wood. Would visit again 👍

The food is fresh and delicious even though I didn’t see anything special, just usual eggs on sourdough bread, avocado, mushrooms, waffles. For such a limited choice and lack of creativity the place seems a bit overpriced though I honestly can’t complain about quality and taste of food :) Was not impressed with my sitting spot, it was located near the private car park and noisy. My table wasn’t completely clean.

Great coffee and friendly staff - a great place to come and work as a student. They have a whole upstairs area where you can study (separate from the busier and noiser downstairs) and it had a great atmosphere - relaxed yet studious.

The 'Art gallery'turned out to be a few pictures on the upstairs walls, that weren't accessible due to the tables and customers. Nice food and drinks though

Nice little caffe in Cambridge! Has a lovely internal balcony and it was very quiet which is refreshing! The pancake was great and the service was super nice too. Staff was super friendly!

Very pleasant chilled-out cafe. Dog friendly. I can imagine it would get very busy in term time but it had a a really nice buzz and relaxed atmosphere during the holidays and was a lot quieter than the cafes in the main tourist drag which I liked.

Ordered a cappuccino, totally expecting the usual. But man, was I wrong. Enes, the guy who makes the coffee, gave me this cup of something magic. Best cappuccino I've ever had with the best service! 5/5

Ive been a week in Cambridge and went there twice to do a bit of computer work. Very cozy, good Cafe Latte. I appreciate cafes who do an extra efford and making some latte art on cafes. Seperate laptop area upstaires, which I liked, even with some ouside spots. Google wants me to give stars for food which I cant rate, so I had to give 5.

This cafe cares more about their computer system and money than its customers. Our 70+ year old friend didn’t realise her bacon roll would come in a brioche bun (it was clearly marked on the wall inside but we were sat across a busy road in their outdoor seating area). When I asked for one piece of bread for her I was told I could either order sourdough bread but it would come with eggs or I could have sourdough with extra bacon but I could not have one piece of sourdough on its own, even though I explained she is allergic to brioche. It seems either the computer system didn’t allow the staff to use any overriding initiative and just give me a piece of bread. By the time I got back across the busy road (obviously don’t care about staff safety) she had eaten the bacon with no bread. Needless to say, we won’t be going back as thankfully there are still alternative cafes who care about customer satisfaction.

Expertly brewed specialty coffee. They have oat milk alternatives from Oatly which I found to be the standard these days as it adds a rich creamy texture to the coffee and the flavour is quite neutral so that it's not overpowering the coffee flavours.

We were glad we found this pleasant little cafe away from the crowds of the market and surrounding areas. The choice on the menu is relatively limited but there is something for everyone. Food was well presented and very tasty and with a modern and clean look inside and feel it's certainly worth taking the time to discover this gem if you're in the area!

I have been to The Locker Cafe twice and their coffee has always been outstanding. It is a shame that there's no air-con in the premises.

Today was my first visit to The Locker and amazing!The coffee was amazing, I had a flat white for the first time and it was incredible, Enes is very positive and friendly attitude from the moment I walked in, to the moment they handed over my coffee. Will 100% be back again soon. BEST COFFEE IN CAMBRIDGE!

Really good Coffee and super friendly and helpful staff. Dogs are allowed, they have a small rooftop terrace as well as outdoor seating. They offer vegetarian and vegan Options.

The coffee is OK, but it's a small building and they are cramming a lot of customers in. I got to the front of the queue, then was told "find a table first", and the staff didn't know if there were tables free upstairs. (If I'd found a table, it'd be filled before I returned, wouldn't it?) I ordered food with a minor change to it, but they wouldn't change it because "it's all pre-made". And the ground floor is a "laptop-free zone", apparently? As far as I'm concerned, cafes can serve diluted mud in an ashtray, as long as I have wi-fi and somewhere to put the laptop. The staff wouldn't give a reason for the ban on laptops, but of course it's just to drive customers out quickly. Well, mission accomplished.

First visit since Adam left and what a difference! Cold food, cold atmosphere, no student discount and the door was left open to let the freezing air in. The menu was the same but the bread was different and the eggs were undercooked. The mushrooms tasted like they were from a tin! Will not return as not anywhere near as good as before. Such as shame.

The best flat white and the best long black that we have found in Cambridge. Food options keep changing and can be limited later in the day, but we’ve always found something decent to eat.

Ordered a cafe latte, guest espresso blend. Sat outside. Waited. And waited. And…waited. Come back inside after nearly 25min; get told “We are having a problem with the guest espresso.” Would have been nice if someone came out and let me know instead of keeping me in suspense. Asked for a refund as I had to get a move on. Clueless bunch. Went to Abantu around the corner.

Good dirty chai and nice atmosphere but the staff kept barging past me unnecessarily and our particular table/seating set up was so uncomfortable.

Visited as a family and paid for brunch with coffees (came to nearly £40). Food was ok but didn’t really live up to the menu description and wasn’t particularly tasty and in one case not even that hot. The tables and seats are tightly packed so you’re pretty near the queue of people and the staff are around and about you constantly - kind of gets annoying. Space is an issue. Didn’t find the staff particularly welcoming or friendly. Even in busy times friendliness goes a long way to making the customer feel welcomed. Won’t be visiting again as my overall impression is it’s trendy and trying too hard but failing to deliver.

Bought food and drinks totalling £38 and luckily found a table. Food was ok but the smashed avocados on toast wasn’t particularly flavoursome and quite cold. Cafe is trendy so prices seem to follow suit but I wouldn’t say it’s anything special compared to other places I’ve patronised. Staff were a little brusque maybe because they were busy but it annoys me when they begin to address other customers whilst dealing with the person actually ordering and paying. Tables are tightly spaced and it’s a small interior - the queue obstructs the door in the busy period so not sure whether it would suit someone with disability issues.

I’ve been going to the locker for a long time now and always given them 5 stars. However, since the new owners took over in the autumn it has gone more and more downhill. Cakes are a lot smaller and often stale, and you can just see that they are trying to cut costs anywhere they can. Staff seem to turn around almost weekly and service has gone significantly downhill. It’s such a shame when the old owners put so much of their heart and soul into the place.

Extortionate pricing. You will cry when you see your bill compared to what you ordered.

We visited the Locker Cafe as it stated it was dog friendly. It does say that on the door, however the staff didn't appear to be overly pleased to see a dog arrive. The food and drinks were OK, the cafe was clean and the other customers welcoming. But we didn't see a single member of staff smile or in anyway be welcoming. Such a shame

Cake was nice but my drink was warm I asked for extra hot milk which never arrived, also not a not clean cafe!

Stopped here for brunch and a coffee during our weekend visit to Cambridge. We both had the poached eggs and bacon on sourdough toast which was amazing. The coffee was really good as well. Atmosphere was very good and the staff were very friendly. Would definitely recommend for a relaxing vibe whilst eating breakfast/brunch.

Coffee always grand, food always grand, vibes always grand. The outdoor tables (across the street) are well worth a go in fairer weather.

This is becoming our regular haunt for brunch when in Cambridge. Just tried their bacon bap and was blown away by the amount of bacon they give you. It was also piping hot, which improved the experience immensely. Latte is also the best we've had in Cambridge. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

Busy, friendly cafe off the main avenues of central Cambridge. Seating is downstairs, upstairs and outside across the road! Order excellent coffee at the till and get a table number stand for your drinks to be served to you. Superb gluten free brownies and cakes, helpfu,l friendly staff. Also does takeaway drinks in standard sizes, none of that Venti, Grande sizing, just a mug full of excellent tasting coffee and if you want more, order two!!

It’s a great place to eat! Dog friendly which is amazing as there’s not many dog friendly places. Great food and drink selection! Only problem is that it is very busy and with it being dog friendly, there’s not many options. We was waiting a while (not that it really bothered us.) I would propose that there should be tables reserved for dogs only as it’s great to support local businesses but there’s only a few dog friendly cafes in Cambridge and it’s a real struggle, when everyone else can eat freely anywhere else.

Popped in for a latte and a brownie. Latte was the best I've had in a long while and brownie was tasty. Service was friendly and my drink was brought to my table.

I ordered a Fruit tea to go, and it was great. The cafe itself was very cute, and felt almost like a home. I would highly recommend stopping in for a drink. They also seem to have some food and baked goods (including gluten free options)

By far our favorite cafè in Cambridge! Coffee and Cake are always top notch and the atmosphere is so welcoming that time flies. Personal favourites are the dirty Chai and the raspberry blondies.
