Lush Sunday Dinner, lovely location & really friendly staff. We took our pup & felt very welcomed & comfortable

I’ve eaten here any number of times — usually when meeting friends for lunch — & highly recommend it. The food is reliably excellent & the staff are always smiley & welcoming. In warm weather, the garden beside the river is exceptional. ☀️

We had a family lunch last Saturday. The food was really disappointing. There was no meat in the beef stew!

I had a Sunday roast here, the seared chicken breast with extra gammon. They were offering gammon or turkey as an extra with your roast if you so wish to. I have to say the roast was unreal, one of the best I’ve ever had, everything about it was just exceptional. We were seated in the lovely conservatory area and experienced a fantastic service by the staff who were friendly and attentive. A special mention to Caitlin for serving us today! The atmosphere here is lovely, no loud music or anything like that, just a good old pub atmosphere. What a lovely old pub it is, it’s in a great location next to the River Avon and has a nice contrast of old and new. It’s clean and tidy which is a credit to the staff here, well worth the visit.

Was my husbands birthday, had a voucher from our son, put our order in, lost the order! Waited nearly an hour for food.. Had desserts for nothing, had crumble with chocolate ice cream!.when does chocolateice cream go with crumble, was not given a choice!!!. food was not what I would say was great!! Food was £36, voucher was for £75, they would not refund the difference, so would of lost the balance of the voucher!! So not a good night, won't be going there again..

The Lock Keeper is in a lovely location with a big garden that goes down to the river. If you've just come in on the train then it's only a short walk from the station and Keynsham is also very close by. The roast was excellent. Staff really friendly and helpful. Lovely venue but using a wheelchair there is a little tricky.

2nd visit for Christmas Day, some issues last year although food tasty - we put that down to a late sitting. Unfortunately this year disappointing, booked for 1st sitting so we hoped for better quality, however plating up obviously not checked as all meals came out missing items so the lunch was very disorganised and unfortunately the food was not hot. Won’t be doing Christmas Day lunch again here.

Lovely atmosphere and great service - the food was perfect too - our party had a mix of burgers, sausage and mash and the chicken, and everyone remarked on the portion size and taste. The team were very accommodating and attentive - thanks for hosting a lovely festive gathering for our party of 7!

I’ve been coming to the lock keeper for a few years now as it’s a lovely country pub, With a homely, modern and upmarket feel. This being the first time this year i visited, I could sense straight away it had been taken over. I was disappointed the menu had changed a lot and things had been taken off. The food was also very average which was a shame as the lock keeper is a pub I’d always regarded as having first class pub food. It also feels like the decor doesn’t really give it the feel the pubs always been known for.

Fantastic Sunday lunch with excellent service; the team were really accommodating when my baby decided that she needed feeding just as my food was about to arrive and I was so grateful for their flexibility.

Great pub. We finished our walk early so dropped in before our table reservation and had a drink at the bar, but staff turned our table around quick so we sat down 20 mins early which was much appreciated since we had a 6 hour drive home! Food was delicious - veggie roast and a chicken roast, followed by chocolate mousse and affogato - and reasonably priced. Staff were absolutely lovely and were working so hard as there were lots of big groups in for Christmas meals. Only taken 1 star off for atmosphere as while the inside is gorgeous and is looking particularly lovely with Christmas decorations, the outside of the pub by the petanque court and by the lock is looking a little tired. Lots of rubbish dumped by the back door where it looks like the cellar used to be. All in all a great place to stop for a bite to eat or a drink after a walk around Keynsham :)

We came in for a Sunday lunch today and had the best time! Brilliant food and amazing service from our waitress Zoe, who was so attentive and friendly

We were looking forward to a lovely family Christmas lunch but there were no decorations not even a tree. We arrived for 1.00 but didn’t get our food until nearly 2.00. Three of our party had a burger which they said was very mediocre, they felt there was something missing on the plate like maybe some coleslaw. Three of the party had the sausage & root mash which was lovely but overall just a bit disappointed with the visit this time.

Lovely venue with great food and great service. Dog friendly also but you have to notify them when booking that youre bringing a dog so they can arrange a specific tsble for you. Otherwise very friendly and definitely one to visit.

The problem with a limited menu is just that….. It’s limited. If you are a regular visitor as we are, you quickly run out of choice. When we last visited there was no “Specials” available and that really narrowed the choice. They seem to serve what is available with random ingredients, for example, every time we order chicken it is served differently, the last time it was served with cold tomato slices, courgettes and a couple of small potatoes and a pesto type “Sauce”. This was entirely different than the last time we ordered chicken. I may be wrong but it gives the impression that the chef serves up whatever is available on the day. We find the sandwich choices very strange, why not have a more traditional selection? We understand that the days of hugely extensive menus are probably over but if a limited menu is preferred by the business, it needs to be changed regularly or return customers will quickly not be…. Return customers. The prices are a little on the high side and waiting time is sometimes a problem, however, the staff are always pleasant and the manager is very polite and helpful. The actual location is lovely and the ambience of the pub is good. This review is subjective, but the consensus from our group is the menu needs more variety end should focus on more traditional food options.

Disappointed by the very limited menu. Used to come frequently and the menu was far better. Ordered the pea hummus to start this was disappointing and tasteless and burger for main, very over done, chips dry and had been reheated. My burger had no cheese so asked for it to be taken away for have some grilled cheese and it came back with cold grated cheese !! Shame it’s gone downhill used to be great! Would not return in a hurry

We came to the Lock keeper for my dad’s birthday and had the best evening. Guy and Rose were fantastic and the food was lovely. Thank you so much!

Food was pretty good to be fair (apart from (Mac and cheese side dish) but menu was very limited. Booked a table for 5.30pm and were seated on time. After 20mins of waiting had to ask waitress if we could order some food? We were told her “colleague” would be with us but didn’t see another waitress in our section the whole time. Waited a further 5mins and called over the same waitress again who then did take our order. In the meantime went to the bar myself for drinks. We’d finished starters and had to wait around 25mins for mains to arrive. When these were brought to the table our starter plates and cutlery were still there so wasn’t room for mains. Had to call waitress over after 5mins as we were still missing a side dish (Mac and cheese with beef cheek) which itself was really disappointing, lacking flavour and seemed to be slices of beef, not beef cheek. Once again no offer for drink orders so went to bar ourselves again and took empty glasses. Finally, no sight of waitress or offer of dessert so went to the bar to order it ourselves. Barman did apologise when we complained about service and side dish and did provide complimentary ice cream for our child.

Excellent service with a smile every time I visit, which is most days ! Coffee ☕️ is superb 👌. No push button machines in there ! A well run pub/restaurant by the long term manager Sam . Try Luke for an excellent coffee or even one of his numerous cocktails 🍸 😉.

A tricky start for us as one of our party was stuck in traffic and ended up arriving half an hour after the booking time. Zoe took it all in her stride and took the order whilst serving other tables first, meaning as our meal arrived so did our late comer. A bit of cooperation and luck and everything worked out. Zoe gave excellent service from start to finish, the standard of the beef roast was amazing too, great new chef.👍👍

A bit expensive for but your still working it about right. Before I got pension off we went call.in3 or4 a month

First time visitor, only had coffee with friend but will be back for a meal with my wife, who I’m sure will like The Lock Keeper. Lovely spot, greeted and served by Peter who was very hospitable and friendly. Service was spot on!

We had the most amazing Sunday lunch at the Lock Keeper’s today. We’ve been visiting regularly the last couple of months because we walk our dog at the area, and we always found the staff to be lovely and attentive. The atmosphere is great and their food is always amazing. I tried the vegetarian roast this time and it was one of the best I’ve ever had, even though I’m not vegetarian. Their veggies are exceptional. My partner had the beef and she was very happy as well 😊 Thank you Lock keeper and team.

I live in Keynsham, The Lock Keeper has been refurbished recently, looks very nice, but the prices increased substantially. I paid £8.75 for a 250ml glass of house wine, house wine, not the posh stuff. When I enquired why it was so expensive, I was told the paint was expensive and had to be paid for, the waitress told me that they wanted to get a Michlen star, which makes me feel and think that they don’t care if people question the prices as they only want the well healed any way. We were there again on Sunday 29th and the wine was the same price, I was not happy and took the time to check their menu when I got home, turns out there is a cheaper house wine which is £6.60 a glass, so why are customer being given the more expensive wine? I suspect this is under instruction to fleece the customers of as much cash as possible, I mean a glass of draft cider if £5.95, I recon that’s a 500% mark up. Time to look else where for a reasonable pub, pity, it’s such a beautiful location

We came here on Friday for dinner. The staff are lovely and made us feel extremely welcome! We were sat on a small table opposite a window. It was a little cold so having the fire on would have been great! However we didn't ask them to turn it on so it's definitely just an observation and not a criticism. We ordered the sausages and a burger. We also had the loaded fries accompanied by an order of blue cheese sauce. The food arrived quickly and was yummy! The sausages were our favourite, but we felt that the burger was average. Our waitresses were lovely but they did forget some of our items when bringing the food and I did have to ask for them. However, the servers were apologetic and the items came super quickly. Our only issue was that the loaded fries were bland and the food could definitely have been warmer. We would definitely go back but I think we would order different things.

I absolutely adore this pub in general, my first ever visit was around Christmas last year and the atmosphere was perfect! Old outside, quirky and beautifully decorated inside and just wonderful hearing the river flow past from the garden and car park. The service here was amazing, we lucked out getting a table for Sunday lunch and myself, my Dad and my girls were so warmly received. Thank you so much, we will return again and again.

Nice looking pub and eating area, however the food was average and the service was too. We ordered 3 burgers and 1 fish and chips. They brought 2 fish and chips and the server argued we’d ordered them! We got an apology but then had to wait 10 minutes for the 3rd burger whilst the rest of the party had their food in front of them - not great. The fish was overcooked with hard brown batter, the others said their burgers were ok.

We had a large booking for 16 people for a birthday celebration. Half of the table were kids. The staff were so friendly and accommodating, and really went above and beyond to make sure we had an excellent experience. And oh my goodness the food! If you're thinking school roast dinners, think again! This was possibly the best Sunday roast I've ever had. The portion sizes were generous and everything was exceptionally well cooked. Every single person was happy with their food (even the picky kids!) There was a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, and we felt comfortable letting the kids run off some steam outside between courses. Looking forward to our next event at the Lock Keeper.

Lovely food and really friendly and helpful staff

We had a lovely dinner in the conservatory area. Staff were friendly and attentive. Had three courses including the fish pie special, all very tasty. Bathrooms were clean. Good access by bike from the B2B cycle path - one short section of busy road but you can walk your bike along the pavement there if necessary. We enjoyed the buzzy but relaxed weekend atmosphere, and will definitely be back!

The food is outstanding, especially given the modest prices! Will deffo return!!!!

I arranged with Ryan private area to have a around 16/20 friends for a casual birthday gathering. Ryan could not accommodate us more. He put together a lovely area at the back of the pub. We discussed also putting on some sharing boards of cheese, vegetables and meat. They were absolutely delicious and so plentiful, completely reaching above all my expectations. Ryan and staff were very attentive all evening, despite the pub being busy with other customers and food orders. High praise for food and hospitality the Lock keeper gave us. Many thanks Ryan & team.

Great location, would have loved to sit outside, but it was raining. Maybe next time. Food and drinks were very good, two of our group had a rack of ribs (very large and tasty), two had the Cumberland sausage which they also said was very good. I had fish and chips, declined the curry sauce, tartare sauce and mushy peas, got the garden peas instead. Very happy with the haddock and “cooked three times chips”! Out waiter was awesome, never raised an eyebrow at my restructured order. His name is Guy, awesome, friendly with a great smile! Definitely an asset to the Lock Keeper! We were just passing through Keynsham, visiting family, but I’m sure they will be back, as will we on our next visit.

Sadly I had roast dinner here the other Sunday. I was so excited as I saw the beef look great. I had a child portion as unfortunately the girl suggested I don't know why as I did want adult one. Anyway the meat was absolutely awful not what I saw before I ordered. They have something separate tiny piece of meat as thin as a piece of sheet , you could see through it all the way to London if you looked! The edges were dry and old. You know even a child wants to enjoy a good beef especialy @£11 per portion! I wish I sent it back. The spuds, veg was fine, just the meat was literally nonexistent. You won't see me here again.

We booked a meal at the Lock Keeper for my mother’s Funeral Wake, and I have to say the whole experience was excellent. From the initial booking of the table to the final “Last Round” before we left. The hospitality, friendliness and empathy shown in light of the occasion was outstanding. The food was superb, the prices reasonable and befitted the quality of the food and the service was brilliant that led to an overall fantastic experience. Extra mention to Russ who we dealt with from the beginning and looked after us throughout the afternoon. What a great, funny and charming young man he is. Well done all at The Lock Keeper! ❤️

Parking limited so be prepared to park a few hundred yards away, but that’s the only down side with this venue Lola was our waitress and, despite it being her first night for service she knew the menu back to front and was attentive to us the whole time The menu is varied and we had a variety of dishes - fish, meat and salad. All were cooked perfectly and tasted delicious Leave room for dessert - they’re superb!

My family and I were back from Germany recently to visit family members in the UK. We were staying in Bath but, due to close family living in Keynsham, we had the pleasure of visiting your establishment. On that particular day, our son was celebrating his 10th birthday but understandably, was a little under the weather being so far away from his friends in Germany. I spoke to their staff member Zoe and asked if, due to the circumstances, she would be able to do a little something with candles on his dessert or something similar. WOW! is all I can say. She pulled out all the stops and presented his dessert on a plate with a birthday message in chocolate cream sauce, candles, card and a song to boot. The singing encouraged everyone, even the other customers sitting in our corner, to join in. My son was dumbstruck! What a fantastic experience and one I am sure my son will long remember. Your food was excellent, your pub charming, your staff all extremely friendly and helpful but Zoe made the night for us. What a superb establishment you have and I am already looking forward to my next trip back.

Lovely pub set in a nice suround overlooking a river, has a raised patio area overlooking a lovely garden area that also has more seating. The food was good and so was the beer. Well worth another trip out.

Good range on the menu which seems more extensive than previous visit. Definitely more choice for non meat eaters which is a positive. All food was well made, tasty and served together in good time (there were 5 of us). Russ' service in particular was superb and he is an asset to the team.

Great experience this evening. Rose, and the rest of the staff were fantastic. The premises is clean and modern, with a nice rustic feel. Food was very good. Would highly recommend the ox cheek stuffed yorkshire pudding.

Left a post for the lock keeper two years ago, it wasn't great .Tried again today,17,08 24, and it has got worse,absolutely appalling, three diners,as follows, fish and chips ok,not many chips, diner two,starter of mackerel pate,poor,diner three,absolutely dire,chicken supreme, one and half potatoes, the smallest chicken ever,should be reported to the rspca, What are these people thinking, 18 pounds , pictures will allow you to make your own judgement Ahhhhhhh, On reflection i should have complained there,but it is what it is,ahhh

We had the cauliflower soup; the problem was that it didn’t taste of cauliflower, it was dark brown and had a very strong taste which we couldn’t quite identify. My friend had fish and chips, which she enjoyed.

Haven’t been for couple years. Disappointed with the food. Cod batter was soggy. French fries cold, had to go back and be replaced. Burger raw in the middle, had to go back and replaced. Burger then came out cooked through but hard. £17 fir burger that was not worth it and £18 for soggy fish batter! Very disappointed will not be returning again.
