The Loaded Dog in Leicester

Worst pizza ever! When I found that the red stuff spread all over it was ketchup I scraped it all off. What was left was just as ghastly. I'm not convinced the white stuff was melted cheese, nor that the lumps dotted around were pieces of chicken. No sign of bacon either. Just atrocious and virtually inedible. 2 stars for the TVs though. This would be a nice place to watch sport

Place is shocking, won’t let us in with a table pre booked as it’s to busy! Police on the door for ‘crowd control’ joke! Not worth your money don’t bother

The beer has been undrinkable the last few times I've been. Smelling off and rotten. Staff were incredibly rude when politely addressed about this. Do not go here if you respect your health.

Received a pint which tasted and smelt terrible, returned it and they poured me another cheaper beer pint which also tasted off. They poured me a final pint and I apologised for causing an inconvenience to them. As I left, we said thank you and one bar member made a snide comment which they all laughed at referring to us. Was a shame and I don’t think we deserved that.

Came here with some friends and had a few cocktails. Very reasonably priced and a good atmosphere. Would definitely recommend.

Football, beer and a solid service what more could you ask for! Local lads are friendly and always up for 1 or in some cases 5 games of pool. Recommend if your in the area looking for an easygoing drink to watch the game at.

Quirky pub, with plenty of TVs, showing champ league footie when we paid a visit. Walking distance from demontfort hall. Beer was good, food not so - had cheesy chips with chicken tenders, but the chicken was sparse!!

the “dutty fries” are really good. drinks are a little expensive. service was really nice and friendly. a really great 25% student discount on food!

Fantastic spacious pub with a great atmosphere, plenty to do with games consoles, pool, photobooths etc, a great selection of rum too and the staff were fantastic.

Staff very friendly, however next to no food available. Of the large menu given on Saturday, wings were the only food available. Very poor.

Saturday night,early doors,and it was rammed. Premier football,then the start of the rugby World Cup semi finals. Proper buzz in the air. Busy bar,staff busy,but coping well. Few places left to sit due to how full the bar was....but we managed. Ordered food,unfortunately our first choices were sold out!! Rethink and sorted. Food came quickly and was lovely and hot.

Had nachos, they were the perfect snack as I watched the International Football. Served well by the very friendly staff Will and Ben, who even looked pretty similar! Cheap beer so will definitely be returning soon

I have been a student at the University of leicester for 3 years and for just as long I have been going to the loaded dog. For me it was one of the best parts of my university experience, any football game I wanted to see would be on, the drinks are priced very well and the food is great. Its a great place to go with your friends, with an amazing atmosphere. Also the Sunday pub quiz is the best there is, the host is the best I've ever seen, a constant source of entertainment. I heavily suggest it for anyone, especially students

Bottomless brunch for 13 brothers stag do. Everyone said it was fantastic and great atmosphere. Would highly recommend.

Three of us went to the bottomless brunch this weekend. It’s a lovely venue. Clean and entertaining. Great atmosphere. Food was nice but not much of it for the money! Very small portions for the cost. Nice, welcoming and relaxed pub though. Aimed more for the students I would say. Looks nothing from the outside but nice inside.

The food in here is really nice and well priced, however I don't think the staff are very pleasant and I don't say that lightly as work is hard at the best of times, but this wasn't a particularly busy day and they all just seemed utterly disinterested in being there. However their extensive vegetarian menu is so impressive.

Visited Saturday lunchtime with my sons to watch football. Lots of screens so that was good. Good choice of craft ales. Food was only average. Good atmosphere despite not many in. Would go back.

No wonder this place is empty£4.50 for a pint of dark fruit cider!!!! When most places sell between £2.50 and £3.50. Staff with little interest and grubby tables this place is imploding

Came in for a quick bite and a few drinks. A lady in multi coloured shoes with a big smile looked after us, gave us really good food recommendations and actually convinced us to stay for a few more than we should have. Brilliant service, great selection of beers.

We have been regular customers for the past 10 years at the Loaded Dog and after our experience on Tuesday Night will mean it will be our last. The customer service we received from the Bar Staff in particular Fay was outrageous. We order a list of drinks and on two occasions she got it wrong. On the third occasion, my friend decided to give the drinks order on a individual bases to save the order going wrong and Fay refused to serve unless we give full order. After explaining our situation there was no apology, no understanding and definitely no customer service. When asked to speak to a manager, she stated that 'I am the manager'. Well a manager should understand that we are customers and understand why we are giving our order individually. End result, she refused to serve us and we were told to leave. We were out celebrating friends birthday but ended up remember the night for the wrong reasons..Thank you !!!

Rude bar staff .... no apology after getting our order wrong on several drink rounds at the bar in fact we got more rudeness !!

Rude rude rude ! Lady with short curly brown hair, Asian looking think she knows it all. Rude not knowing who is to be, served next would rather serve the young students, we had a lovely meal as well shame she ruined it for us showing of to her friends.

We had booked a table for 8 people at 7_30 on a Friday night, on arrival we were told there was no booking.

The wings are amazing! Good price, nice little nibble Clean and tidy pub, staff are very friendly and hard working.

Have visited many times to watch the football, which along with other sports is frequently shown Good atmosphere and variety of drinks and food, but can be very busy at certain times

This is a good place for beers. It also has reasonable food menu. I went with friends here for evening drinks. Good choice of beers. The service was good but bit slow. This is a student pub/restaurant. It also shows live sports.

Went on a Saturday evening and there was a football game on. It is like a bar/restaurant type of place. The place was very loud which was expected. You have to go up to order but the food is taken to you. When we were finding a table, I was already about to sit but some guy literally grabbed the chair off me... after a few minutes, his friend said that they weren’t using the chairs yet so they gave them back to us. So the service is a 1 star but the food was okay. The portions were bigger than expected but it was still quite expensive. Food came earlier than they said which is a bonus. Overall 2 stars (3star average food, 1star table service/lack of it). It’s a place for friends not family.

Lovely place, great vibes. Cocktails were quirky and they had a live band playing which was nice. Good go to place for students but not so much for a quiet sit down and catch up.

I have tried a few things on their new menu. The menu is varied with a real emphasis on vegan food which I must say annoys me as a pointless self righteous hipster fad. I can understand that people have views etc etc but this current trend makes me really angry, why should a menu suffer so that a minority of limousine liberals / champagne socialists be appeased for their latest attempt at being cool and different ? Anyway with that gripe put to rest I shall continue with my review. I’ve tried a few of the burgers, they’re really good value and tasty, but to be fair they’ve always been good even before the new menu. They usually have a “burger of the month” I steer clear of these as they are a little too gimmicky for my tastes (samosa burger etc) at lunch I usually am hungry and their burgers are very filling, I had the double beef burger this week and I couldn’t didn’t finish it all. Sometimes a friend and I would have the sharing platter, there are a couple to choose from and always filling. I reviewed their breakfast earlier this year and I was very disappointed so haven’t had one since. The other thing of note that has annoyed me too is that they got rid of churro Tuesday and replaced it with pancakes. You can buy the pancakes for 25p each and they don’t come with any sauce or anything, literally dry pancakes, I struggle with this idea, maybe it appeals on some people! I can’t see this new menu being around too long as it’s replaced food that normal people want with this smashed avocado obsession. But there we have it!!

Went with daughter and couple of her university friends. The food is good basic fare served well and efficient. Target obviously students but worth a visit.

Bar is nice but £4.70 for a pint. Won’t be going in here again on principle. It’s good to watch sports and game of pool but how can they charge these prices

Made a couple of visits to the Loaded Dog whilst visiting Leicester.

The bar looks great after a new refurb. Had food and drinks, punk Ipa from the craft wall and a toasty which was spot on :)

I have been a customer for many years and I also often go to it’s sister bar, the dry dock. Since they refurbished the place looks better but the food is awful. On the two occasions we ate here since they reopened the food has been terrible. We had jalapeño bottle tops, they were soaked in old oil, among them were cremated old chips. Then we had breakfast. They served it on metal plates that I’m guessing came from a POW camp. The sausages were mass made rubbish and were cremated. We had a tablespoon of beans and the bacon was nasty. I can’t understand how students afford to drink in this place, the drinks are ridiculously overpriced for a student joint. I don’t think I’ll be frequenting this place much anymore. They should give up trying to be quirky and concentrate on providing food that is actually decent!!

If you're looking for a quiet candlelight dinner with the Mrs or a spot to secure that next business deal, keep jogging. If what you want is a proper pint somewhere big enough to accommodate all your mates this is the spot. With snugs and cosies all over the place, & proper amounts of stuff to do. Big screens for the footie all over the spot. Two fights of stairs for a wee just so you know & the main bar is down a small stairwell, so it's not the first choice if you're a bit unstable (start the night here...). We had some chips & the bar girl was perfectly pleasant. It's a studenty type place, so if you feel old that's your fault. Get yourself in for a drink!! Wouldn't suggest it's the best spot to eat out but you can plug a gap.

Six of us went for a birthday meal , there was also wheelchair ♿ access needed, the staff we were very helpful, food reasonably priced, came out altogether presented well, and most importantly tasted great, it had big screen sports, pool tables, and a jukebox, small amount of parking to the rear, but there is parking on the main road, and also a big car park five minutes up the road, well worth a go.

Staff was rude and abrupt with international students and told them to leave for not having ID (despite being 26 with a group 25+). No information regarding this on the door. Student bar with terrible service.

Está justo a la vuelta de la esquina pero comentarios me de un vistazo. Por último, sí, pero no me decepcionó. Claramente este es un pub que es popular entre la gente joven, seguramente los estudiantes en una de las universidades por aquí. Las bebidas son baratas y así es la comida. El lugar es colorido, amplio y entretenido.

Vine a la cargada de Perro con un par de amigos en la tarde durante la semana y nos quedamos realmente impresionados por el establecimiento. Prosecco a 10 libras la botella fue un comienzo genial para nuestra noche. El personal era amable y eficiente. Todo el lugar parecía estar limpia, incluyendo los aseos. Cero quejas de nosotros!

Had some nachos and a drink and was okay. Food came quickly, which was what we needed, and it was quite nice. Prices were very good too. Is a student bar really, so not very smart, just does the job really.

Ok food, ok drink selection, not as clean as it could be.... generally the sort of bar frenquented by students "Loading up" on cheap shots prior to a night they wont remember

Llegué con algunos amigos y nos hicimos un pedido de la misma mesa. Nuestra orden amigos salieron después de 10 minutos de la nuestra... No apareció de manera oportuna, ya que habíamos pedido nuestra comida 2 minutos después de mis amigos. Me pidieron 3 veces durante nuestra esperará 45 minutos y no pasó nada. Cuando hablé con el gerente de turno, me dijeron que la cocina estaba "abarrotado" y esa era la razón por la que estaba tomando más de lo usual. Cuando nuestra comida no apareció- estaba frío y poco atractiva. Sin oportunidad ha sido una disculpa acerca de la tardanza de la comida o la falta de servicios de atención al cliente.

Just been to the Loaded Dog for dinner. Order arrived within 5 mins which is always a little suspiciously quick. My beef burger was so raw it was bleeding onto the bun and my boyfriend who ordered a burrito was served a risotto with no apology. Of course beef can be served rare but only if it is 100% steak which I'm not convinced it is and there was no asking of how I'd like the burger cooked so I can only assume it was just not cooked properly.. Really bad experience would not go again.

Es un típico bar inglés, pero a diferencia de otros es muy amplio y tiene distintos juegos (como pool y metegol). La atención es rápida, la comida es excelente, muy gourmet. Tienen promociones de 2 platos a solo 8 libras y hay muchas opciones para elegir dentro de eso. Nos sorprendió el precio tan barato.

I'm not local, but visit this pub at least once or twice a year on business. It's convenient. The beer is good and the atmosphere is great whether it's busy or not....BUT..!!!! (And here's the thing)... The gents toilets permanently STINK of ammonia!!! It's like s horse box!!!!Sort it out guys !!! 2 years and it still ponks !!!!

Beer and burger seemed like a great deal until you find that the chicken burger is essentially a flattened chicken nugget (more breadcrumb coating than chicken). Bar staff are mixed, some are nice others are rude. We only go here because drinks are reasonable and we can watch football etc. Nothing 'nice' about this place that's for sure

Good.......basic range of beers at OK prices , service was quick and cheerfulBad .....It was cold in the Pub Very Bad ......the Gents toilets . Imagine the old Filbert street stadium toilets after a game where 30000 people had used only one of the toilets .....are you getting my drift? . The smell is unbelievable ,I'm not sure I've smelt worse, and believe me I have travelled to some dodgy areas of the world. My mate was heaving after his visit........and BTW, having to pass a charity offering what I can only presume to be Chlamydia tests outside the toilet was a bit iffy as well.

They have a very rude staff there we ate food and had to beers are bill was 33 dollars we were ask to leave so I went to wash my hands and was surprise when the door flew open a security guard and the rude waitress, who just started to work are telling me to leave I'm washing my hands, from the greasy food I ate, which sucks and there demanding me to leave. I finished washing my hands they entered the washroom telling me to leave that,my friend is sleeping, but we were eating food lol. I called my husband to come and get us. As we leave they proceed to come outside and start yelling at us . Told us we have to go stand on the curb ! This place is a joke! Really if you want an enjoyable evening don't attend The loaded dog.The staff should take a course. On serving the public & respect I've waitress for thirty years and these girls are rude & disrespectful.Place was empty to begin with & now I know why ! Ignorant staff. Garbage food & I've been there many times. I've been many times to hear playback & this is how we're treated. I've never had such a bad experience like this. The loaded dog will never get my business again. I know a lot of people who go there & their not expressed with place. The emptiness Speaker for itself .

Been here 5 times now and every time is great (only once did they run out of a desert). Food is great value, service is quick. Good size venue. Will go back again.

Couldn't have had a worse evening, gutted to hear that it wasnt Quids and then we discovered that buying 4 indovidual pints was the same price as a 4 point jug! Unbelievable! Fair to say the bar staff could do with touching up their knowledge on economies of scale. Regards, Chopping Cricket Club

Called here last night prior to comedy show. As it was early there were more staff than customers as they had 6 new starters ready for the Uni. rush later. We had two Bar-meals and two drinks each for £25 all in. All staff keen and friendly, food freshly cooked and amazing value. What's not to like ? We can recommend to all.
