Great vegan chips fried separately from fish etc,curry sauce was perfact.

I have had Fish & Chips from here before, but not for over a year, and decided that Good Friday would be a good time for some more. I ordered online for collection, anticipating they would be very busy. However, when I went to collect they were very quiet, my Cod & Chips was very quickly handed over. When I got home I had a plate warmed up and put the Fish & Chips in the oven for a second to keep warm. I was very disappointed with the meal, more a case of 'here's one we prepared earlier', I would have expected far better!

Always good chips, usually good fish too. Fish portion was small for a regular size, overcooked and dry unfortunately, which was disappointing. Food was quite cold as well, which is not our usual experience of frydales.

Decent chippy. Move to the area a month ago, visit every week. Good quality food, friendly staff Thanks guys

Was passing chippy so thought I'd pop in until I saw card only. Avoided... Won't use none cash outlets. They're part of the future problem..

Chips which melt in your mouth. This place was recommended by a friend and it didn’t disappoint at all. I’ll be back when around the area

CARD ONLY NOW.... so didn't bother and walked away. I used to go regularly as their chips were always fresh and tasty, but you get a handful of chips these days, will never return.

Very disappointed. Haddock was very small. Chips were very soggy, more like mash. It used to be good. Will avoid from now on.

I visited this place four times to get my take-out dinner. The food quality is good and the place is kept clean. However, the reason for giving three stars is because of the inconsistent customer service they offer. For example, they did not offer me a discount card or voucher, but they offered it to others. On two occasions, I witnessed customers being offered a card and being told they would receive a discount next time. Furthermore, on all four occasions, people who came and paid after me in the queue were served first and I waited more than I am supposed to.

Tried to pay cash and was told it was card only - seems they were so concerned with girls working there handling cash !?!?! Woke ???? Seems more like they don’t trust the staff to handle cash. So funny I walked out.

V busy on a Friday Eve but the staff got my internet-placed order bang on time. Great fish and near-perfect chips.

Rubbish £3 for about 2potatoes, not enough to share with wife , I’m 77 wife 60, disgusting never again ,

A friend of mine told me that Frydales reheat old chips. I didn’t believe them until I was served them myself. What kind of idea is this? Obviously the management’s way of trying to save a few pennies. Well, you’ve lost £pounds now mate. I will never go back to this shop after being a regular customer for over ten years. Other chip shops in Leicester don’t serve their customers rip off old refried chips.

Painfully slow service for a mini chips!

Food is great , however the chips for a regular is 3.00 . Not a problem but the amount of chips I got would not fill a 6 month old child. Measured in a small bowl. Won’t be going back . Get a grip prices are highest around , while the quality is there the portion is not proportional to the prices

This place used to do great food and appropriate portions. The food is still ok but no better than any good chippie. This was a "large" portion of chips. Pitifully small. I only hope they made a mistake on the order. Update 2.9.23 have been back. Didn't let them know who I was and the portions were normal chippy size and great fish. Updated rating.

I called in with my daughter who had been telling me for a good while that she often calls into the chippy with her friends from work and that the fish & chips are probably one of the best around. So, like a responsible & very concerned parent, the matter had to be properly investigated; and all i can say after the investigation was concluded is that all responsible dads need to find an excuse at their earliest opportunity to thoroughly investigate this particular Fish & Chip shop. Claudia & Neil, who were the staff in attendance at the time, provided a friendly and welcoming service. In very simple terms everyone, it is a family-friendly and delicious place for all dads to investigate with plenty of salt & vinegar. "I rest my case".

Great cod bites and chips. Good food takes time, and I'm glad they stick to this.

First time try them, the cod fish is very good quality, chip was ok, i little bit soggy, not horrible but if a little bit more crispier it will be better. Over all is all good. Curry sauce with good taste. Will go back again.

Excellent fish and chips each time

Really disappointed now always ordered via the shop app for delivery but now always offline or can only order either days ahead or just eat app . Firstly I don't know what iwant to eat days in advance and secondly the just eat app prices are more expensive on each item and then there's a service charge and delivery charge .

Just back from our family holiday and needed Frydales Fish & Chips- it did not disappoint! The fish was cooked perfectly and the chips were spot on. I’d highly recommend.

Visited Frydales SYSTON, a traditional Fish/Chip shop on Sat 1st. We had 2 x medium cod, 1 x chips, 2 x small mushy peas. All was freshly cooked, Fish was of very high standard. Bill was for £18:20. We enjoyed our takeaway from Frydales Syston and it is recommended. Paul Reynolds.

My cod was absolutely dry and over cooked, was it left in the warmer cabinet, never had this before, but now not sure about their systems

Ordered mixed kebab, when I got it home there was no salad at all in it, I wasn't asked if I wanted salad or not? I usually enjoy their kebabs. Maybe salad shortage, but not informed.

Very friendly lady in the shop, lovely crispy batter on both chicken nuggets and fish bites. Lady noticed my dad standing outside with our dogs as we had stopped for a little lunch while walking them and threw in a sausage for them, at no extra charge, to have while we were having ours. Lovely little touch and they really appreciated it. Well cooked chips and for a mini chips it was a good portion. Will definitely be coming back here on another dog walk x

It was Friday night I suppose but I had to wait an inordinate amount of time to be served. The food was ok but quite expensive I thought.

We ordered for our family , 2 cheese burgers with salad , a mixed kebab with salad and chilli sauce and chicken nuggets. Cheese burgers came without salad , cheese or sauce , kebab came without salad or sauce and kebab meat was tired, chicken nuggets inedible. Called to complain to be told “I just cook the food - not my problem “.

Visited here on three separate nights over the past 3 weeks. Massive decline in quality . Manager not customer friendly seems to have little respect. Does not listen to client requests. . Very poor tonight

Terrible, Soggy Chips and batter in greasy paper. Used this place many times but been going down the hill for a while. Crossed off my list now.

Ordered pie, fish cake and chips, food ok but Frydales, please tell me why you have to use 6 huge sheets of wrapping paper, when 1 would have done. Or even put in a polystyrene tray.

The chips and peas were too cold , I collected and at home 4 minutes later they were cold They were not too busy so warmed up I think Considering price I will reconsider my next requirement elsewhere, they spoilt previous dinners I had from Leicester

The best place to eat fish and chips. Delicious, honestly I recommend.

A couple of years ago this chip shop was great. However the past 4 orders we've had over around 12 maths have each been terrible. Culminating in today, am£8.50 cod arriving over cooked, swimming in great, batter inedible mush. Order at your peril. I will most definitely avoid from now on, and not listen to my wife who insists on ordering from here, from time to time.

I've tried Frydales a few times on the back of the reviews. The fishcakes were lovely as was the curry sauce, if a little bit thick.The chips were truly awful, they were very dry and looked & tasted over cooked even though my pick up was 5.30pm. They'd only been open an hour!! Yes the 1/2 price on chips was an incentive but I'd rather pay full price & have fabulous chips!!

Ordered and paid online. This is apparently a regular fish. All batter barely any fish and burnt. Order on line so you don’t have to wait. Waited over 20 minutes for the food and to be honest the fish went in the bin. 17 September 2022. 6pm

The worse fish and chips ever so dry good for the bin disgrace, should know better as on arrival they had a lot fish already cooked and kept in the hot food counter hence totally dry and disgusting, usually it's a decent fish and chips today they lose a regular customer

Used the 30% off voucher as was our first time eating from this chippy, and fed our family of 6 for just £12... we are all stuffed! The food was all freshly cooked and served by Mandy. Even though I drove to the other side of town, to eat at home, it was all still hot! Absolutely beautiful... will definitely return.

I’ve been going here for years as it was by far the best for fish and chips in Leicester! However something changed about 4ish months ago I’ve had 2 poor meals from there similar to other reviews. Chips are cold, hard and bone dry. The fish is also greasy and over cooked. Haven’t been back unfortunately.

Ordered a large cod fish and chips and some other things my issue was the Fish batter it tasted burnt.and too crispy I like a soft fluffy batter this was just over cooked and was breaking off.

hi, sorry to write a review but we had a family meal from hinckley rd last night, normally we use syston every week but were in leics so used hinckley rd, syston is top notch, never had a problem but hinckley rd is totally different, firstly ordered the family meal -2 plain sausage,2 battered with chips ,2 peas,2 curry sauce, didn't wait long but on opening the bag at home there was 2 sausage missing, i phoned the site & was told the young girl on the till hadn't got the option to increase the order-it only comes with 2 main items plus 4 sides, -i said that's not what it says on the advert, & she said she didn't know about that but if i come back to the shop tonight or another night i can have 2 sausage, i have to say the chips were excellent but the battered sausage were dripping in oil, never had that at syston maybe just not warmed enough so we binned them & had chips & sauce, admittedly there was only 2 working in the shop but it seems dis organised if the girl on the till cant see the offers you advertise, after i had asked for 2 plain & 2 battered sausage, why did she not query this at ordering,- we have never had the family meal before we just wanted something quick & simple after shopping, sorry to have to write this normally frydales is excellent so maybe just an off day, after this experience we shall drive the extra & use syston where we know its consistent high quality. thank you for taking the time to read this,

I’ve visited Frydales on several occasions. My girlfriend and I are both vegan. Quite often we’ll put a vegan Kiev or pie in the oven and nip across the road to pick up a portion of chips, mushy peas and curry sauce. They’re chips are great, perfectly cooked, fluffy on the inside with a nice amount of crispy bits too and not at all greasy. Recently my girlfriend wrote to them and asked if they’d consider stocking some vegan options such as the new vegan pukka pies range as it would be nice to be able to order an entire meal from them. They responded by saying there is little demand for this and so have no intention of doing so currently. We found this extremely disappointing and quite hard to believe given the amount of students in the area. Come on Frydales sort it out!

Looks like the Europeans have had the other half of my ‘regular fish’ as well as a most of my mushy peas. It would also appear that we aren’t just in the middle of a pandemic, but we are also in the middle of a potato famine, judging by the incredibly small portion of my ‘large’ chips I was served. Don’t worry though, McCain oven chips to the rescue #NotAllHeroesWearCapes. Do you think I’m taking the mick? No, but my fish and chip supper certainly did! Good service though. Ordered fish and chips for lunch and the lady at the till barked at me to look down very rudly for prices rather just telling me, like some headmistress telling off a pupil for asking for the answer! On the table outside where we wait for covid reasons was a small list in the tiniest font I've ever seen. After agreeing to the price she barked again for payment, I wasn't even half way through my order! Again very rude. Same thing happened when I enquired about prices for sausage and chips - never having been here before I didn't know! From the very back of the shop another chap shouted the total to me, when again I hadn't actually finished ordering! I asked then about ordering gravy with my meals and the lady huffed so loud I heard her, bearinig in mind this is quite a large shop that you are not allowed to enter at the moment because of covid, so it had to have been a very loud huff for me to have heard her. Once I got my order and got home I unwrapped the smallest poritions I've ever seen in 30 years. The food was ok apart from a very limp sausage. I will never order from here again, such rude service especially when waiting in very heavy rain bringing them my business. Food 8/10 so not bad, but service ... complete lack of human interation training!

Reasonable pricing , size of fish and chips portioning. I feel it tasted very well. My brother had the same comments and my father said it's very good. We ordered from Deliveroo so we didn't have the chance to see the atmosphere but judging from images , It looks quite nice.

I keep ordering online for collection and the food is delish, but every time I order from home it refuses my password and today after two resets it won't accept the new ones. I have set up my husband for this order but who knows what will happen next time. Please sort this, I don't want to give up on the best fish & chips.

Lovely fresh hot food, chips are cooked properly no pale soggy chips here! Just down the road from us so always hot too.

I don't write reviews but let's give it ago. My husband is from Cambridgeshire and has always said Leicester does not have a good fish and chip shop and we have tried everywhere. This place is just up the road from us and I don't know why we haven't tried it before now. Its really good fish is not over cooked and it is not flat and greasy like most places. It costs us just over £20 to feed 5 and that's with us all haven full plate.. In lock down they're doing delivery which is really easy and fast and the food is still hot.. Im not saying it's the best I have ever had but definitely the best around here.

We had a delicious family takeaway from Frydales to celebrate bank holiday. They forgot one of our items so I rang up and they delivered it within 5 minutes of my call. They provided complimentary chips as an apology. Always excellent service at this chip shop and great food!

i was served a tiny( i mean smaller than the ordinary cod i saw being served to others) jumbo haddock. the portion of large chips was soggy and very average in size. i had misgivings about buying around 5.30pm on a friday evening , but the portions i got shocked me when i got home, around the corner. a jumbo fish smaller than what you get on a lunch special.a large chips , not enough for two people, soggy inthe ten minutes it took me to go home and plate it.what a waste of £10.30

Visited here for the first time this week and wasn’t disappointed. Had heard good things and it certainly lived up to it. Between two of us we shared a large chips, 2 battered sausages (jumbo sized), fish bites and large mushy peas. It was the perfect amount for us and the quality was superb. There was a short wait in the chip shop once ordered (but I always feel that is a good thing!) and there was barely an ounce of grease on the wrapping paper. Definitely our go-to chip shop from now on!

Fish and chips were cooked to perfection and the doner kebab was delicious. Tom and Mandy were very professional even with plenty of orders coming in thick and fast. Would definitely recommend and will be visiting again very soon.

Driven 3 hour and 30 minutes to try their award winning fish and chips accompanied by Mandy’s tartare sauce. Fresh food, great quality what more could you ask for.

Been coming here for years very disappointed tonight mixed kebab 4 tiny bits of chicken and 2 strands of donner complete with soggy salad and the fish cake was awful now having to order again as ive pulled more meat out of my teeth on a tooth pick

Awful burger and barely warm chips. How you won your awards, I have no idea & why do you think it’s okay to simply deep fry a burger patty rather than use a griddle, I mean, who does that? Absolute rubbish in my opinion.

I was served by Tom and Mandy in Leicester's Frydales on Hinckley Road. My family had quite a large order and so we rang prior to ensure that we did not have to wait. Upon arrival, our food was ready and packed for us to take away.

Don’t normally bother leaving reviews but this little chip shop warranted my efforts. MCS fish, cooked to perfection with light batter. Great normal size chips. Mandy in the till is friendly. Recommended

Me and the 3 children decided to hav a cheat day, no cooking for mummy today we went to frydales and after being stuck in traffic for 30min we was concerned that it would effect the quality of the food but I was pleasantly supprised, the food was still fresh and a good temperature and the fish its self tasted beautiful cooked perfect 4 empty plates which is a rear thing in our house... So well done and thank u frydales
