The Living Room is located a 2 minutes' walk from Piccadilly station on a quiet street full of terraces that fill up with neighbors when the weather's good. The music is great and the prices are about average for beer, wine and cocktails. The staff is always very friendly and everyone is welcome!

I should have known as I walked past busy tables outside the adjacent Momo and Aubaine in Heddon street to find The Living Room deserted that this was a bad choice. But we persevered and requested a table for nine (incl two kids) outside. After being told they don't generally move tables (in an empty restaurant at 1.15pm for a group of nine????) the manager agreed and made us welcome enough. With one busy table inside (albeit after getting drinks served) it took us almost half an hour to get an order placed. When the food arrived two of our dishes were returned. I tried samples of several of the others that remained and they were at best average. My roast monkfish was acceptable in itself once rescued form a pool of unsubtle soy-sauce and a few steamy and lacklustre veges. No sight of the promised chillis. One to miss; there are too many much better places to eat right nearby. Choose any of them over TLR.

The Living Room has a Web page and it Restaurant has a interesting History. Opening in 2005 in a Old Post office, It ouses rich, classic feel and very creative in it's layout and setting. It has an amazing outdoor area for eating out and is part of a larger area where outdoor dining is made very accesssible and inviting. We came across this place by mistake which was more interesting and fancied a meal before we headed back on train to the Midlands. The Restaurant was empty initially when we arrived at 17.30 but the bar area was being used by the few customers. We were greeted immediately by the door and asked if we had a reservation, as we hadn't we said no but were still made to feel comfortable and were seated in the middle of the restaurant. We ordered after having a bottle of Rose Wine and ordered a few starters to share with Chips- not very creative but we were not too hungry. The waiter who greeted us in the restaurant also was a bit shabby dress wise but friendly enough and allowed us to use our Tastecard without a booking which was appreciated. He was attentive throughout the whole time but forgot our chips until we reminded him.the Restaurant had very well presented Bathroom facilities and were situated away from Restaurant area downstairs. Interesting facilities....The seating is all different so if you like a back to your seat, don't sit near the window as the booths are comfortable to sit on but no backs.Definitiely go back againand try some more of the interesting menu and sample the music which starts later on and moreso at the weekend. If you have enjoyed this review and have found it useful, please helpful vote it!Thank you for reading my review and any comments are alwasy appreciated or questions in regards to this.

Food and portions were great, so can't really complain. However, our waiter spoke to us as if we were a waste of his time. First he came over after we were seated and asked if we had a reservation, even though we already said we did before being seated, and despite the fact the restaurant was nearly empty. The whole experience wasn't welcoming at all and when we asked for the bill and took out the tastecard, he didn't even acknoweldge it. So later when he dropped off the bill, I questioned it as the discount (the calculations were done by hand an so it wasn't very clear ) unlike very other place I've been to with the tastecard, he explained it to me like I was the idiot and it was the most obvious thing in the world. If the service charge wasn't already included in the bill, I would'n't have paid it! I've left feedback at the website, but no response as yet.,

Service could have been faster but with the entertainment and good wine, it didn't matter. I had the displeasure of eating here on Friday night, and was completely disappointed. I went there with my wife for my birthday and we started by ordering a bottle of Chablis (the best thing about the experience) and a few picky starters which were pretty tasteless but acceptable then for a main I order a Roast beef sandwich - the beef was some of the worst quality beef ive ever experienced whilst eating out, I called the manager over as I could neither chew it nor cut it with a steak knife and joked that it was be from a very cheap cut of topside - I was very surprised he then confirmed it was topside - they should warn people when they order it you may need a chainsaw! I then spoke further with the manager who quite frankly was massively out of his depth and clearly didn't have any basic knowledge of food or customer service. He said he would send over a steak sandwich instead and with that disappeared - the steak sandwich arrived totally over cooked which wasn't a surprise as the manager never even enquired how I would like my steak cooked! Once the manager disappeared he sent over the assistant manager to try to help us - now the assistant manager was much better at handling conflict and tried to find a solution for us and have to say I felt his actions rescued the "living room" experience.Overall the 2 managers quite clearly need to swop roles and the quality of ingredients used needs to be massively reconsidered.

The Living Room is set in a nice little street with various places to eat and drink. Looks nice, outside seating too and service was very good. Food we had was good (chocolate pave dessert was really tasty). What let this down was the number of items that were not on the menu and this was early in the evening at 6:30, so not after a long day or large number of covers. I couldn't remember was the waiter ran through what wasn't available - he must have a good memory. Even Peroni beer was off menu?!

The setting is great very elegant, however rather noisy with people who go for afterwork drinks. We had a the set menu which provided three or four choices for each course, I had Thai fishcakes which were lovely and flavoursome, then home made vegetarian glenmorgan sausages with lentils which was good but the lentils lacked a depth of flavour which was unfortunately sudstituted for salt. To be honest I wish I had gone for the moules frites instead. It is all the same refreshing to see restaurants branching out into veggie food and it came with a tasty sourcrout cabbage on the side. The puddings were incredible, boyfriend had the sticky toffee pud which was traditional and good as expected, the chocolate pave with peanut crumb and salted caramel icecream was probably the best desert I have ever had. My boyfriend pointed out that it was essentally a snickers which ruined it for me slightly but the taste was wonderful, icecream being the absolute star of the dish. I could have done with two scoops though to finish off the rich and bitter chocolate pave!

The service was very good, even though one waiter forgot to advise the wine waiter of our request for water and a soft drink. This was handled professionally and efficiently. I recently went to The Living Room, after being in the same chain in Liverpool & Edinburgh and enjoying my times there. However I went to the W1 chain and was left very disappointed. The service was extremely slow and the waiters didn't seem too keen to be at work. I had the chicken wings for starter which were presented well but and the crispy batter that went with it, just crumbled off when you touched it and the flavours seem to be cooked out of it. My main was a TLR burger which was dry and bland. However I did have some of the 2-1 cocktails and they were nice and well presented and would go back to drink, but I def would not eat there again.

This restaurant chain seems to have grandiose ideas with its menus that it's kitchen cannot match. Food was dreadful from starters to main meal. we had burgers (not cheap) which were so overdone they were dried out and uneatable. The excuse was that they had to cook them through however the use of good quality meat and good cooking should produce food that is a joy to eat. For the starters we both had the chicken with chilli dip. turned out to be chicken wings with little meat. Note: following night we went to Henrys Bar on Piccadilly and they had a similar item on the menu which we both tried and this was chicken breast and was excellent. The service was good and were offered a partial refund but declined and accepted a glass of wine each. No complaints about the service or the atmosphere which were both very good. Live act on the night we were there. Been to 2 other Living rooms in the country and this one let them do. One big favour though to the management company, look at the menu please. This is not Heston's restaurant please call a spade a spade, no need to fancy up the menu. food can still be great without changing to more exotic ingredients.

We visited here after the icebar and wished we hadn't. The French Martinis were fab but after ordering the second drink, I waited 15 minutes while the barman flirted with and served other customers. When we chased him, we were told our drinks were coming. The bartender then put Grey Goose vodka in what was meant to be a premium gin cocktail (Route 66). I complained and refused to pay for the drink. Another bartender apologised but I hadn't been served the drink I had ordered and had been ignored for 15 minutes. Poor service, shoddy product knowledge, poor standards. Will not be returning. Avoid.

A large group of us has an evening meal here. The staff seamed to take an extremity long time to take our order. When placing my order of spring rolls for starter and chicken and mash potato for main. I was informed the spring rolls had a 'summer' feel to them. When our meals finally arrived, half of the group had their order and the other half had to wait. The spring rolls were very disappointing...they were not warm and were tasteless, apart from the mint which was overpowering. When I complained that the spring rolls were bland, I was informed that we had to use the dips provided (one a chilli dip and the other a peanut dip). Needless to say, I was not happy to pay the starter price just to taste the dips. Before the booking we had to pay a £5 deposit. When we came to pay the bill they didn't deduct the deposit and the staff could not find any reference to the deposit paid. There solution was: you will have to pay the full bill and come back with proof of payment. They wouldn't allow us to use their computer to prove that the deposit was paid. The staff were very unhelpful!I wouldn't recommend this restaurant.

The staff did not care when someone told them the starter was bland. When it came time to pay the bill, which was about £400 roughly, we had each paid £5 deposit a month ago so thought that was going to be knocked off, the manager and bar staff had no recollection of our deposits or where it had gone so rudely dismissed it and told us to pay in full and bring in proof of the payment. I saw the restaurant on Masterchef and thought it would be a wonderful experience. There were probably 6 people in the restaurant, so zero atmosphere at all. On asking the waiter for recommendations the waiter advised that pasta and fish were not the restaurants speciality and therefore wouldn't recommend them. I ordered the prawn starter and it was deep fried with a chilli jam. A Chinese take away would make a better dish. The Pasta dish was ok, but nothing too exciting. When I left I told the waiter that I was disappointed and he said I fully understand, but don't worry we are changing the menu shortly and then the quality of food will improve. My advice avoid this restaurant.

This restaurant is in a very convenient location just off Regent Street. It was a busy Saturday afternoon when we went, we had no reservation but got a table quite easily. There were 4 of us and we all had great food across all 3 courses, the portions aren’t huge but adequate. However what is a big let down about this place was the complacent service, our waiter simply couldn’t be bothered. He was so interested in looking around the place he didn’t give us much eye contact at all, his indifference resulted in two elements of our being wrong. His colleague that helped out on our table was just as bad. They didn't seem to enjoy looking after customers and they made it show.So I would I advise going? Yes for the food but you’ll be gambling whether you’ll have a good experience overall depending on the waiting staff you get. I was a very disappointed diner.

It's a chain so its not gourmet but the food is fine and fairly reasonable with varied selection. There's a great bar area serving good cocktails. So we had booked a table for 3 and arrived 10 minutes early so was told to go get a drink. The man behind the bar was quite rude when I did not understand what he was saying to me about leaving my card to start a tab which I didn't want to do so we just paid cash and he didn't seem very impressed by us. We was taken to our table by a window which was lovely but it had a very bad cold draft coming through and I didn't have a jacket other than my coat so we asked to move which was no problem. The waiter was lovely except when I asked for no rocket or tomato his reply was "really?" Which I found quite rude as I wasn't asking for something extra, I just simply did not want them. I had steak which was the most enjoyable steak I have ever had. The homemade chips were also a lovely and went well with the steak. The service of food was quick. I visited this restaurant to have a Friday night supper with friends. Firstly, it should be said that this is not just a restaurant but also a busy bar. So on arrival it was very hard to find each other amongst the crowds and at first we could hardly hear each other speak in the bar area. The dining area is more relaxed but not much. Throughout dinner we were interrupted by a group of very drunk men on the next table and this is definitely more of a "night out" venue than other Living Rooms I have visited. The worst part of the experience was the food! My starter was cold and whilst it was replaced swiftly and with no argument, I also received no apology. My friends were expected to continue eating their dishes but had almost finished by the time mine arrived. This meant I had barely finished mine before the main course arrived. The main course was good. The pudding was average.

However, atmosphere was very lively, great ambience on a Thursday night and impeccable waiting staff. however the food itself was poor. i bought garlic bread which seemed like bread pieces with cheap mild cheddar on top with no hint of garlic, quickly microwaved. to be honest, I've eaten better garlic bread at my local Sainsburys and the cheek for £3.70! my main dish thai chicken with rice was poor, not much taste and sloppy. my friends dish of chicken burger was tasteless. however, my other friend opted for vegetarian meal which was delicious. drink prices were good, as were desserts and alcohol menu but meat based dishes were poor. not sure I would come again due to the food and extortionate prices for some, but fabulous atmosphere and location was brilliant. waiting staff were particularly exceptional and helpful. the fact my friends had a 50% off voucher was fab otherwise I would have felt slightly ripped off but 8/10 experience.

Food was pretty decent for what you pay. Just up market pub grub. Waiters werent so good. Brought mains out before the starters so then brought starter out whilst we were eating our main. Then asked for sauces and had finished main course by the time the arrived. Additional 12.5% service added automatically. Should have asked to be removed but hey probably would have screwed it up. May have been an off day. Nice location, decor and atmosphere for a hearty lunch.

We visited the Living Room last Tuesday evening as it was offering 2 for 1 with Taste Card. The Restaurant is lovely situated just off Regent St. The Service was first rate we had Bread and Oils for nibbles which was nice (although we did have to request extra oil after the initial thimble full we got) we had starters of battered tiger prawns and qtr duck breast both of which were lovely. Our server regularly came and checked on us and topped up our wine glasses. For main course my partner had the chicken burger which came with hand cut chips where as I opted for the rump steak which I can honestly say is the best steak I've ever tasted. We decided to be greedy and have dessert and it turned out to be a fantastic choice the sticky toffee pudding was to die for ! The bill did come to £90 for 2 of us but with taste card this was then reduced to £67 which for a meal of that quality in a London restaurant I don't think is bad

Good choice of menu both starters, main and puds.Shame about putting service charge of 12.5% on the bill. I always prefer to leave my own tip. when I see this it really gets my back up. London get real, this doesn't happen in the countryside.

This restaurant have captured the essence of slow food - but for all the wrong reasons! I went there for lunch with three colleages last week and it took two hours to deliver one main course. Didn't even have time for a coffee. The waiters were very smiley and friendly, and the food was good, but they will need to raise their game if I'm going to eat there again.

I went there recently for the first time and I must admit I was impressed! The atmosphere was what impressed me the most, then the decor, the live music and the amazing watermelon & lychee cocktail the talented bartender made for me! It's one of the fanciest/ posh places I've been to in London so far and it's worth going there at least weekly!

Attended with a group of 10 people on a saturday night. Could not fault from the moment that i booked, then had to change the timing of the reservation, to looking after a couple of members of the group who arrived early, to sorting out some wine for the group to service thorughout the meal. The food was really good and whilst not cheap i do not think it is overly expensive for the standard. Good atmosphere and nice bar for a drink too. Definitely recommend.

We visited as a party of 10 as part of a hen weekend in London. The food was lovely - all 10 of us had different meals from soup and burgers to scallops and steak, and there were no grumbles about anything. Unfortunately the service wasn't brilliant - while the waiting staff were friendly and helpful, the food took an age to come out. Our table was booked for 8:30 yet it was after 10pm when we received our main courses. With a group of mixed ages who had been pounding the streets of London all day, this meant that no one was really in the mood for carrying on elsewhere after, which cut the night a little short. But still, everyone enjoyed themselves, but the wait might have been more of an issue in a smaller party.

So we really liked Heddon square for lunch and came back for dinner and ate at the Living room. Wow the food was delicious, the decor casual and funky. We had fish, and steak, and pepper and chorizo soup. We ate like kings all four of us, child, mother in law and all, and we all enjoyed it very much. It's located in lively Heddon square off Regent street so it was perfectly located for before and after restaurant activities. There is an outdoor patio where you can take in the lively outdoor goings on and happening after hours socializing. We probably had our best meal there and considering it was our last night in London, it served to give us a great lasting memory. Service was friendly and prompt as well, an A+

First off, I want to say that it really depends on the occasion:If you are going for drinks, I can totally recommend this place on a Friday/Saturday nightIf you are going for dinner, there are much better places aroundInterior: Love the decor, the bar and the fireplaceDrinks: Great quality cocktails, nothing to complain and not expensive at allService: Everyone was very friendly, especially the managerFood: The food was unfortunately a big let down. I ordered the duck and it came 'very well done', I told the waiter, the manager came and immediately told me he'd knock it off the bill and get a new one. Unfortunately, the second attempt was not much better but I did not want to complain about it. The appetizers were pretty good but the other mains were not great - disappointing for such a nice locationRestrooms: Yes I have to mention them. The facilities are nice and they have a big selection of very good perfumes (big selection for men as well) to use for 'free', even Bleu de Chanel for example. However, there is also a bathroom attendant who hands you a towel and engages you in short small talk. While I did not mind, the girls that were with me felt slightly intimidated by his presence and felt like they HAD to tip him, which was a bit uncomfortable. Live music: There is also some awesome live music Fri/Sat but beware, it gets extremely loud downstairs and if you want to actually talk to one another you should insist on a table upstairs. Verdict: Great for drinks, not for dinnerComment to manager: If you are reading this, please improve your food, this place has so much potential!

Had high expectations of this restaurant after going to the one in Bristol. We are greeted eventually by a waitress who really couldn't care less and showed us to our seats which is not where we wanted to sit. We asked to be moved to nearer the window but we were refused as they said they were expecting more people to arrive. - It was pretty empty when we arrived. Service was slow. Food was very average and very salty. It seems that everywhere is adding salt to the food these days to make it taste better. Drinks took some time to arrive and the side portion of spinach was pathetic for £3.23 - see photo attached. When I complained the waiter did arrange for another portion to arrive which was good and to his credit. My wife's sandwich was thrown together with no thought to the presentation.Overall - quite a poor meal in the heart of London.

Went to dine here on 23rd June no complaints regarding food or atmosphere, location etc all 5*. But the biggest let down was the way we were explained the specials menu we were told to opt for a steak dish which was basically a sliced steak. Top quality meat and great taste but we were upsold the item as it is good for two as is the same as a Rib-eye sounds great only to be present a bill x2. Both myself and my girlfriend were taken back at this and when confronted our server he told as that he had sold 10 that evening and did not have any issues! yeah surely once consumed you can't do anything about it! We paid as we were not going to make an issue but please be mindful and check again before you order as the staff are clearly targeted and to meet his target the waiter just tried his best and upsold in a twisted manner! Not good!!!

I came here on a Friday night to meet some friends for dinner and drinks. We were really looking forward to catching up over nice food and cocktails. However, the music was so loud as was the general noise levels that we were struggling to hear each other talk. We are a young bunch of 25 year old girls so I do not struggle with noise levels in general! We regularly go out to bars, clubs and pubs but did not expect to not have a normal conversation at a restaurant over a meal. When the food did come out it wasn't even nice and I couldn't finish it. My friends felt the same with their food options, except one who has fish and enjoyed hers. The cocktails on a positive note were good!

Me and my friend had dinner here once and saw a mouse in the main restaurant. The manager, having noticed that we've seen the mouse, came over and apologised for what we've just seen and said that they obviously have a bit of a mouse problem, which they are taking care of. Then he just walked off, didn't offer us a drink or to take the items off the bill, we really wondered what the point was to come over and tell us that....strange!

I came here with my boyfriend in April 2012 just on a day out in London. We came across 'The Living Room' and decided to pop in.When you walk in the atmosphere and decor is lovely, very modern and was thriving. As the menu was changing the next day there was a few things missing off the menu which was completely understandable and the waiter was lovely about it. This did not bother us and so we both ordered the pesto chicken burger. The burger was lovely and the chips was delicious! We asked for some more pesto and so the waiter brought us some pesto and basil oil, which was very kind of him. We did not stay for dessert, but in spite of the menu change, the staff kept us very happy and it was a very nice evening! Lovely place! Also, was very reasonably priced for London, if i recall correctly I think the burger was about £10. Was absolutely delicious, the building is lovely and the staff could not have done more to keep us happy at such an awkard time for them (with the menus changing).

Everyone needs a variety of restaurants for different occasions. The Living Room is good for informal lunches, mid priced food, relaxed atmosphere. Have been several times for lunch, Service is good and friendly without being too formulaic- everyone is trained these days to go back to the table after your food has arrived to check if everything thing is ok. They seem to mean it and avoid asking you in mid mouthful. Food is good, nice variety of staples, nice sized portions i.e. not overwhelming, freshly cooked and tasty.Downside- music is too loud downstairs on a busy day and avoid the seats with no backs

The 1st time i went i loved the food and choice and we sat upstairs - GREAT. However have been there twice since when there hasn't been the option to sit upstairs and the noise volume downstairs makes it hard to have a relaxing meal. The food is still lovely but the service is slow and the close proximity to other customers meant we paid our bill quickly and went somewhere else to relax and chat. Sadly - that is probably our last visit.

Last night was our third time dining at The Living Room and we have found it to be consistently very good. The menu is varied and changes regularly and the atmosphere is convivial and vibrant. I also like their wine list, with some very good wines available by the glass. (The Vouvray is excellent.) Our bill last night was a little over £100 for the three of us and we all had drinks, starters, main courses and desserts. Conveniently located just off Regent Street in Heddon Street (nicknamed The Restaurant Quarter) this is a good place to pop into after a day's sightseeing or shopping. I'd recommend booking in advance though as it does get very busy.

Went here yesterday (Sunday 15th April) for somewhere different. Nice location just off Regent Street, but definitely underwhelmed by the place itself. Seating is mainly on (backless) benches which are crammed against diners on tables next to you; kind of uncomfortable brushing against other diners too. We moved our table as a result. Has bags of potential I think but it just lacks something in my opinion. There's a lot of wasted space, ironically.Food was cold (warm at best), vegetables unimaginative, yorkshire pudding was cold and tough, same as roast potatoes. Also, check your bill. Even though we chose from the Sunday Special menu we were charged from the a la carte menu which i didn't realize until we got home. My fault, but you don't expect to be tucked-up!I would say this is probably a good fun bar in the evening but go for drinks, not the food.

I visited The Living Room for a family birthday meal on a Friday night. Great mix of dishes, Modern European dishes and British Classics. Some of the dishes are presented in a quirky way which was pleasing for all the diners. The portions are of medium size, no cutting corners there! The service we had as great. The waiters were attentive, friendly and provided a memorable service. I did notice a longer gap than usual between courses, but this didn't cause any problems as it gave us chance to rest after our meals. The atmosphere was lively, as expected on a Friday night, however the the volume increase was noticable when the singers began their set. This proved a problem when trying to communicate with the other diners across the table. All in all an enjoyable experience with great food.
